Fellow
Gaels!
As another year soon comes to a close, we look back and reflect on what a year it has been. Our seniors are preparing for that next step, picking the college of their choice and not fully realizing how this choice will shape their futures. During their years here at Bishop Gorman, we have held these students to the highest standard. When our students go off to college and venture into the world, we are confident that they will be prepared academically, spiritually, and socially as they join the ranks of Bishop Gorman community members we are proud to call alumni.
In this issue you will see what Bishop Gorman students have achieved. Whether it is taking State in the Southern Nevada Thespians Competition, volunteering in our community or daring to believe at Youth Day, we know that this is just the beginning for them. No matter how many years they have left with us at Bishop Gorman, these accomplishments are creating a foundation that students will have as they move forward and represent our community, during high school and after. As we reflect on another successful school year, we hope that our students will reflect on their days at Bishop Gorman and be humbled by their years here.
As you read through this issue of the Gael Gazette, you will see the GAEL passion that flows through our community. From our students, teachers and staff, volunteers, parents and alumni, everyone is proud to be a GAEL.

The Little Shop of Horrors A deviously delicious Broadway and Hollywood sci-fi smash musical, The Little Shop of Horrors, has devoured the hearts of theatre goers for over 30 years. Howard Ashman and Alan Menken are the creative geniuses behind what has become one of the most popular shows in the world. Under the direction of Elena Ferrante-Martin, Bishop Gorman High School’s charmingly tongue in cheek comedy of, The Little Shop of Horrors, took us out of the ordinary by expanding the traditional cast of only eight characters to a cast of thirty-seven characters! All characters, including the 1950’s rock and roll student band, were integrated into the fiber of the community of Skid Row, NYC.
Congratulations to the Cast & Crew!

Twice as nice formal wear drive Our 2018 recycled formal wear drive was a success, once again! Relying on current and past students who take the lead with this project, they donated hundreds of beautiful items to the Prom Closet program with Project 150. The “Twice As Nice” drive began when twins Julianna and Lindsey Remark '13, were students at Bishop Gorman. They, along with Maggie DiFederico '15, made this yearly event a big success as we provided free items to teens that do not have the ability to purchase lovely things for prom, homecoming, and other formal attire events. As Julianna, Lindsey, and Maggie graduated, they handed off the baton to twins, Sara and Sam DiFederico '18 (Tio '77 and Maureen [Raftery] DiFederico '82), as well as the Remark twins’ younger sister, Brittany Remark '18 (Deanna [Cambeiro] Remark '84). This year’s event was bigger than ever and we are tremendously proud of our students and staff for continuing to contribute to benefit young people in need.

LOS ANGELES YOUTH DAY #DARETOBELIEVE On Wednesday, March 14th, forty-five students and six faculty members left for the 2018 Los Angeles Religious Education Congress Youth Day. After spending the day at Disneyland, the group went to the Anaheim Convention Center on Thursday for Youth Day. More than 14,000 young people and their chaperones gathered for a Rally, Keynote, Liturgy, Workshops, Music and more focused just for them. The theme Dare to Believe! speaks to the diversity of people present at Youth Day. The teens attending Youth Day are all in different places with their faith. Some may be on fire for the Lord, and others may be experiencing a lack of belief. Dare to Believe! resonates with all of the teens, compelling them to go further in their faith. This message from the readings challenge teens to Dare to Believe! in Christ, even when they have hardships in life, or when they are experiencing great joy. It challenges them to find new ways of finding Christ in their everyday lives and really living as true disciples of Christ. Dare to Believe! draws teens further into their faith, and leave them wanting more.
