Celebrating our 58th Commencement Ceremony with the

The Bishop Gorman High School community marked its 58th commencement ceremony and bid farewell to 317 members of the Class of 2015, May 24th at The Orleans Arena. The graduates were joined in their procession by members of the Class of 1965, the school’s “Golden Graduates” celebrating their 50th high school reunion. Those in attendance were addressed by Valedictorian, Hannah Rogers, and by commencement speaker and 1965 Gorman graduate, Rossi Ralenkotter, President and CEO of Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. Most Rev. Joseph A. Pepe, D.D., J.C.D., Bishop of the Diocese of Las Vegas, offered the invocation and presented the diplomas to the graduates.

Class of 2015

The commencement ceremony capped off two weeks of events in honor of the graduates which began with the traditional senior barbeque, followed by the senior academic awards presentation in which Salutatorian, Cammi De La Cruz, addressed her peers. With a 97% college bound rate, our seniors have been accepted to colleges and universities all over the United States including: Columbia University, University of Notre Dame, Dartmouth, Duke, Georgetown University, UNLV, UNR, United States Naval Academy, United States Military Academy and USC, just to name a few. The Class of 2015 boasts five National Merit Scholarship Finalists, seven National Merit Scholarship Commended Students, two National Hispanic Recognition Program Scholar Award winners, 11 Gold Key Award Winners, 32 athletic scholarships and was awarded over $23 million in scholarships.

State Titles for Bishop Gorman Sports

The spring sports season ended with Bishop Gorman winning three team State titles. The Nationally ranked baseball team won the State title in dramatic walk off fashion and the men’s and women’s lacrosse teams traveled to Reno and came home with State Championships. This brings the total to five State Championships for the Bishop Gorman Athletic Department for the 2014-2015 school year. The football team won the

State Championship and was named National Champion by USA Today in the fall and the men’s basketball team won their 4th consecutive Nevada State title in the winter. Several individual athletes also excelled during the spring season. For more details, please turn to page 6.
