Dear Friends, The 70th anniversary of Bishop Kenny High School will take place in 2022. With that milestone in mind, members of the administration have developed a long-range strategic plan for our school. The following pages reveal an exciting vision for the future. The plan is designed to position Bishop Kenny High School to successfully meet the needs of current and future generations of students. Key components of the plan were shaped through the examination of data collected from all of our stakeholders in preparation for the school’s 2017 accreditation review. With this revealing data in hand, and with up-to-date assessments of the state of the physical plant, the time was right to synthesize the results and develop a Strategic Plan for Bishop Kenny High School. Perhaps most importantly, the team of administrators examined the resulting recommendations to be sure they were in harmony with the mission of the school. It is my hope that you will read this Strategic Plan with the same excitement with which it is presented. I thank you for your time and commitment to Bishop Kenny High School. Sincerely,

Todd M. Orlando Principal

Bishop William John Kenny Central Catholic High School was renamed three months after it was opened in 1952, in honor of Bishop William Kenny, the first American-born Bishop of the Diocese of St. Augustine. Why not name it Bishop Kenny High School from the beginning? Archbishop Joseph P. Hurley wanted to wait for the anniversary of Rev. William Kenny’s ordination to bestow the honor on the deceased Bishop.

Strategic planning on the part of Diocesan leadership and support from the Catholic faithful made the opening of Central Catholic High School, later renamed Bishop Kenny High School, a reality in the Fall of 1952. Archbishop Joseph P. Hurley had the vision to consolidate three small Catholic high schools operating in Jacksonville into one, centrally located, Catholic high school designed to serve a rapidly growing Jacksonville community. Today with a campus and program that has seen significant growth and with a reputation that is well-respected throughout the Jacksonville community and beyond, it is time to execute yet another strategic plan – one that will enable Bishop Kenny High School to address its most pressing immediate and long-range needs as it approaches its 70th anniversary.

*Laudato Si' - On Care for Our Common Home Pope Francis calls the Church and the world to acknowledge the urgency of our environmental challenges and to join him in embarking on a new path. This encyclical is written with both hope and resolve, looking to our common future with candor and humility.
