“Do all the good you can, By all the means you can, In all the ways you can, In all the places you can, At all the times you can, To all the people you can, As long as ever you can.”
The rhythm of school life carries us once again to May half term when we celebrate all that Year 11 have given to our community. They have been quite exceptional. At Easter I reported that they have already achieved outstanding GCSE results; with the main examinations underway we thank them for all they have done, wish them well in the future and hope they will always remain ‘Bishop’s Pupils’. Following an awards presentation to Year 11 on Tuesday which we introduced this year in response to students’ and parents’ requests, we are looking forward to their final full day with us on Friday. We shall follow our traditional programme including a full year group photograph, shirt signing, the distribution of Leavers’ Hoodies, lunch, provided by the College, (this year with cup cakes iced in Bishop Perowne colours) and the Special Eucharist to be held in St Barnabas’ Church. The day will conclude with every student receiving a certificate, an engraved pen and a lolly! I should like to thank parents and carers for their support and for working with us to bring about the best for Year 11. The Year 11 Enterprise students have certainly ‘set their bar high’ for those who follow them. The only Year 11 team competing against Sixth Form teams from independent schools, they won through to the final. Not only were they awarded a number of prizes, their teacher Clare Morris won the award for ‘best link teacher’. We are very proud of their significant achievements especially because they conducted themselves with dignity, altruism and modesty throughout, showing the impact of real team work. On Friday, 17th May we were joined by Robin Walker, MP who has taken a keen interest in our successful bid for funding to refurbish our Perowne Science labs. He shared our pleasure that by September 1st, we shall have ‘state of the art’ facilities for our students and Science team. We have now ‘put down a marker’ in a bid to replace our Clent Block with a new, cutting edge building to house engineering and technology. Our partnerships with the King’s School, Yamazaki Mazak and the University of Worcester continue to flourish and grow. We have a Leadership Day planned with King’s and pupils from Primary Schools in June. We are grateful to Yamazaki Mazak for an award of £1,000 to develop work in Science Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. Mrs Horovitz has recently led training in Citizenship for Post Graduate students at the University of Worcester. This half term has brought much success in sports. In April we welcomed Miss Laura Whitehall to the P.E. Department. Our Sports Leaders have organised a number of events for Primary School pupils. On the 13th June we shall be holding an Open Day and Open Evening to celebrate our 50th Anniversary to which former students and parents and students from Primary Schools are warmly invited. Our 50th Anniversary Art Competition entries will be on display in the John Bailey Gallery. Throughout June and July the Arts team will be touring local Primary Schools with a Medieval Pageant, complete with wagon and horse to perform some morality plays. We are also looking forward to formally opening our Memorial Garden. We are grateful for all the support given by parents and carers and wish everyone a refreshing half term break. MP welcomes £311,000 investment in School Science Walker joins students and teachers at Bishop Perowne to welcome funding Worcester’s MP who has consistently campaigned for better funding for local schools has welcomed the announcement that Bishop Perowne CofE Academy is receiving a grant of £311,000 to refurbish its science labs over the coming Summer. He joined staff and pupils at the school along with Head Teacher, Julie Farr, and Head of Science, Parvin Sharma, to welcome the award. Robin has visited the school on a number of occasions and wrote last year to support their bid for capital funding, pointing out that an investment in science labs would fit with the Government’s agenda of promoting investment in STEM subjects. As a member of the Select Committee for Business Innovation and Skills Robin has backed the Government’s focus on science, technology and mathematics skills for pupils and encouraged cooperation between schools and business. He welcomed the involvement of Yamazaki Mazak, a major local employer and manufacturer in Bishop Perowne’s conversion to Academy status and wrote to the school to congratulate it on its rating of Good with Outstanding features from Ofsted in 2012. Speaking about the substantial investment in new science labs Robin said “I am delighted that the Government is putting its money where its mouth is when it comes to investing in science in our schools. I have been very pleased to see targeted investments in a number of local school buildings over recent years, more capital for school places at primary schools and greater investment in our local Colleges. This latest funding to upgrade science labs that were to put it politely beginning to look tired at Bishop Perowne is just what the doctor ordered. I am delighted that this funding means new labs should be in place for the next academic year.” “I am still campaigning hard for a fairer deal for local schools in both revenue and capital funding but it is good to see that the Government has recognised the need to invest in a targeted manner. Unlike the last Government that promised expensive and undeliverable rebuilds in the distant future, this one is delivering investment where it will make the most difference. Businesses and employers will welcome the focus on supporting the STEM skills that we need to compete in the Twenty First Century and pupils will benefit from much improved science facilities at this great local school.”

Llanrug—The Returners Trip On a cold, crisp, yet Spring-like, bank holiday morning, an intrepid group of 24 students from Year 9 – Year 11, plus a brave party of staff set out on the annual pilgrimage to Snowdonia, to test themselves against the demanding challenges that the Llanrug Outdoor Education Centre staff would set for them. The following ‘Blog Entries’, completed on the morning of the following day, should give a flavour of the activities presented to the group, who were divided into three separate activity groups – Lions, Tigers and Bears. “Day 1 - 01/04/13 Today we set off on our long journey to Llanrug. We were in the coach for about 2 hours before we stopped to go to McDonalds for breakfast, then we were off again for another 2 hours or so it seemed. When we arrived at the centre, we were all really excited as we unpacked our bags. Then we went rafting in the afternoon, which was tiring but FUN! We came back to the centre and ate our lovely fish & chips and then we went off to the beach, which was fun also. Miss Day made a fire which we all stood round, then we came back watched a film and then went to sleep. (Eventually!) Day 2 - 02/04/13 As we woke up for our first full day in the centre, we were greeted with some lovely breakfast which was cereal, toast, bacon and egg. We then had our briefing for our exciting day of fun ahead of us. As the Lions headed up Feot Goch, Feot Gran and Moel Elio, the Tigers and Bears ventured to Lion Rock, where we rock climbed up 3 difficult rocks. After, we came back to the lake and had an amazing time climbing across ropes. Some of us got very wet (*cough* Katie *cough*.) When we returned home we had a delicious chicken pie and potatoes. For the evening we had a hilarious quiz. We enjoyed this a lot and it made us laugh. After enjoying some of M.D Hotty Choccy’s hot chocolate, we headed up to our rooms to get some sleep for the next day.. Day 3 - 03/04/13 After we were woken up at the normal time of 7:15, we had a delicious breakfast of scrambled egg on toast. After that the Tigers and Bears were split up from the Lions to prepare for the amazing day that was ahead of us. Whilst the Lions set off for Sea Level Traversing, the Tigers and Bears also prepared for the mountain called Moel Eilio. Once the Tigers and Bears had reached the top and had eaten their lunches, they slid down the other side of the mountain on their bums and plastic bags. When both groups returned to the centre, we all had tea and then got ready to go bowling in Llandudno. After an exhilarating game of bowling, we all went to McDonalds for a well deserved treat. After Mr. Westrip had finished going round in circles, we eventually all got into bed ready for another action packed day... Day 4 - 04/04/13 Today the girls were woken up once again by the sound of Miss Davis’ singing and the boys by a screeching tambourine. After breakfast, the Tigers and Bears were told that they were going Sea Level Traversing, which we were all excited for! The Lions were told they were going to be going rock climbing. Then everyone packed up their kit and travelled to their activities. The Bears and Tigers had a fun day travelling around a costal area in the Stacks on Anglesey, and all managed to stay dry until a crazy few decided to jump into the sea. Many screams and shouts later, the Bears returned to go to Georgio’s Ice Cream Parlour and enjoyed a chilly treat. When all had returned to the centre we had a lovely roast dinner for tea and then went orienteering at the Llanberis Slate Museum . Once returned, we started to pack and watched the videos Dan had made. Overall a very enjoyable and busy day!”

Friday the 5th April, dawned, whilst some of the group struggled to maintain the high energy levels that a ‘Returners Course’ at Llanrug demands! As a final activity, all groups made the short journey to Llyn Padarn, in the nearby village of Llanberis to complete some canoeing on the lake. Having set up their Canadian style canoes, lashing them together in pairs to boost stability, three student boats and one staff boat set off on a journey across and around Llyn Padarn, venturing across to the far side of the lake, where Master in Charge of japes and high jinks, Mr. Morgan, led a memorable version of the ‘Macarena’ which saw students joined by the ever youthful Head of the Llanrug Centre, Mr. Jon Elliott – this was true ‘Arts College Gold’ and we look forward to this video becoming an internet sensation (or perhaps it won’t!!!). As a final parting gift, students could choose between a Llanrug classic – pancakes cooked al fresco on a self made campfire accompanied by delicious hot chocolate lakeside, but many were lured by the amazing ice cream temptations of Georgio’s Ice Cream Parlour, to savour a last tantalizing taste of the ice cream offerings that only Georgio’s can offer. On returning to the Centre, kit was returned, stored and cleaned up where necessary, and then students grabbed a last minute shower where possible before assembling in the communal hall for the obligatory thank-yous and goodbyes, at the end of another legendary week, unique as always. On behalf of the Bishop Perowne group, may I take this opportunity to once again thank all the Llanrug Outdoor Education Centre staff for another superb week which they facilitated for our students and staff – in particular a massive thank you to our instructors over the course of the week – Jon, Crystal, Rich and Gerry. May I also thank all members of the ‘Llanrug Returners 2013’ party, who all contributed to another magical and memorable week: Brittany ‘Britt – Britt’ Hughes; Matthew ‘Mad Dog’ Makranczy; Emma ‘Shuey’ Shuard; Sam ‘The Savage’ Hasnip; Charlie ‘Slick’ Lancaster; Megan ‘Mega’ Papazoglou; Hannah .Mountain Lion’ Mehaffey; Katie ‘Hill Walker’ Hawkins; Piers ‘LV1’ Hilton Turvey; Lucy ‘Ribena’ Berry; Mark ‘Wilson’ Wilson; (Lady) Isabel Hall; Alex ‘V-dub’ Van Wienen; Luke ‘The Legend’ Southall; Gabby ‘The Acrobat’ Lane; Summer ‘Serial Competition Winner’ Taylor; Chloe ‘JJ’ Jones; Ellie ‘The Newmanator’ Newman; Elodie ‘Mountain Elk’ Bonnick; Molly ‘Onesey’ Freeth; Beth ‘Sherpa’ Steele; Jade ‘Meercat’ Meakin; Jamie ‘Hill God’ Hathaway; Jordan ‘Jumpsuit’ Blake; Ollie ‘Old Pro’ Hunt; Jennie ‘Wild girl’ Webb; Miss Suzie ‘Bear’ Davis; Miss Sarah ‘Appetite’ Applegate; Miss Rebecca ‘MD Hotty Choccy’ Day; Mr. Samuel ‘Hulk’ Hodgkins and Mr. Dan ‘Spielberg’ Morgan. Same time next year? Mr. J. Westrip – Course Leader (Fool)

Arts’ College News Arts Week Planning for Arts’ Week is now well under way and there are a wide range of professional artists and organisations who will be visiting College during that week. In response to student evaluations, following Arts Week last year, a totally different range of activities and visitors have been organised. Sports Days will be split again on the Thursday and Friday of Arts Week - Years 7 & 8 on the Thursday and 9 and 10 on the Friday. On Thursday there will be a Sporting Achievement celebration for the whole school in the Sports Hall and the same again on Friday as part of the sharing of work and experiences of Arts Week. Film Studies GCSE As a foundation course for GCSE drama the Year 9 students study a one year course in Film Studies which results in their achieving a GCSE. As part of their course Mr Morgan has organised a trip to Vue cinema so that they can see 'Iron Man 3' as part of their assessed coursework research. This will happen during a morning and we will have the entire film theatre to ourselves. Morality Plays There are now several primary schools who have signed up to be involved in the Morality Play project during Arts Week. These include: Cranham, St Barnabas’, Gorse Hill, Claines and Perdiswell. In the run up to Arts’ Week, Mr Morgan will visit the schools to run a workshop with them building up to the Morality play project itself. Vamos Theatre Company Vamos Theatre Company once again toured to Bishop Perowne College and treated all of our Year 7 students, plus our Specialist Intake Group' to their moving production of 'Finding Joy'. Following the performance the Specialist Intake group and some of the Year 7 students did a mask workshop with the company. As always it was a day to remember and one that we hope to repeat with their future productions. 'All Aboard' In association with the Birmingham Playhouse a touring company visited Bishop Perowne and presented a unique piece of Theatre in Education to 60 of our Year 7 students. Focusing on the early days of the railways and on the difficulties of class divisions in the Victorian era - it involved the students in a thought provoking and exciting experience. Konflux Theatre Konflux Theatre Company have delivered workshops at Bishop Perowne each year for four years now. Their format of 'A Play In A Day' is ideal for extending the skills of our Specialist Intake Group. They are due to visit again on the 11th June and we look forward to another exciting day of our students being involved in a high quality arts experience. Boy’s Choir The Boy’s Choir project is gaining momentum and the numbers attending are increasing. They are rehearsing every Thursday after school and will hopefully soon be ready to perform to an audience. Dance and Music Evenings As part of Arts’ Week there will be two evening performances. One for the Summer Dance Show and the other for a second Music Showcase this year. Details of the programmes are still to be arranged.

Eco Schools The Eco-Committee have held their first Switch Off Fortnight with the intention to inspire people to switch off, save energy and save money. The Switch Off campaign kicked off with a series of active collective worships that highlighted to students the importance of preserving our planet and the positive impact that we are able to make by just changing little things. The Eco-Committee were successful and made an impact on staff and students which resulted in a reduced amount of energy used over the campaign. Now we have to make sure that we continue this good work and consistently reduce our energy usage. Well done to the Eco-Committee and special thanks to Ella Manchanda, Bethany Dickings, Spencer Stanley, Oliver Parker and Craig Strachan.
Community Leader Report We have said an official goodbye to last year's Community Parliament Leadership Team. They have inspired students through their hard work, effective leadership and total committment to all events and activities they have organised. They have worked particularly hard in organising and leading full college acts of collective worship and they have as their final task interviewed and selected the new team that have big shoes to fill! We have been priviledged to invite the tutor groups to take more of an active role in Community acts of collective worship and many of their performances have been powerful and thought provoking. It is really important for students to take an active part in college life and it enables them to build team working skills. Students have said that they have enjoyed the experience (despite the nerves) and have grown in confidence. Well done to all that have taken part. We would like to wish year 11 the very bset of luck in their forthcoming exams and in their future. We look forward to seeing you all at the leavers ball!
Memorial Garden Tree At a recent staff meeting it was discussed which five words should appear on the leaves of the Memorial Tree, which is to be placed in our Memorial Garden in memory of Mr John Bailey MBE, our former Chair of Governors died earlier this year. It was agreed that the five words should be:
Care, Growth, Love, Respect and Trust. The tree has been designed by a local artist Claudia Petley.

Young Enterprise Arriving into the new academic year, the Young Enterprise scheme had many ambitious students excited to start and develop a company, which has undeniably achieved many successes, outstanding recognition within the community and experiences which will last a life time. Deciding on the company name ‘Prestige’, we wanted our identity to reflect what we offered through our products – the highest standard. Through a mind mapping session of potential product ideas we short listed down to two: laser cut tea light holders, produced by our production technician within school and 100% recycled woollen bracelets, which were all hand made by members of the team. Whilst trading, our company ‘Prestige’ has developed a team of inexperienced members into an ingenious and professional business of hopeful entrepreneurs in the making. From the very beginning, our products proved to be very popular and passing customers who attended our trade events such as The Victorian Fair, Spring Fair and Webb’s of Wychbold, approached us complimenting us on our warm and friendly customer service. Our successes included managing a large team, overcoming difficulties and struggles in a professional manner and developing our laser cut tea light holders as it went through various stages of product development. Our unique selling point for our products was the idea of having a seasonal theme as it enabled us to apply subtle design changes for each season whilst keeping the original concept. ‘Prestige’ was absolutely delighted to be awarded the ‘Best Product’ award alongside a £25 financial award at the Worcester Cathedral Plaza Spring Fair which acted as a major confidence boost. The next challenge was to produce a company report which thoroughly explained our company as a whole from the very beginning to where we currently stand, highlighting key difficulties and experiences. At a crucial moment the team of 21 pulled together and produced a fantastic report. As a result we won a place in the South Worcestershire Board Area Final and further progressed to the Hereford and Worcestershire Finals at County Hall. Representing the team, 5 members including the Managing Director Shahena Sultana, Financial Director Thomas Blundell, Cameron Brett Sales Director, Samantha Burns Assistant Sales Director and Lucy Berry a key member of our sales team performed a four minute presentation to a panel of judges and an audience of 120. At each final we set up our trade stand, explained our company report and presented to an unfamiliar audience. During the Hereford and Worcestershire Finals we were also subjected to a gruelling 10 minute interview panel. Each evening event took well over 6 hours to complete. We put up an excellent fight and managed to collect the awards ‘Highly Commended for Sustainability’ and ‘Best Teamwork and Communication’ which we believe we thoroughly deserved for our efforts, determination and commitment. Not only did the team do remarkably well but Link Teacher, Clare Morris had won the award for “Link Teacher of the Year 2013”. Sadly, we didn’t make it through to the West Midlands Finals and our momentous journey had come to an end. ‘Prestige’ has generated a healthy profit of over £800.00 and a total revenue exceeding £1500.00. Alongside our awards, came a sum of prize money. As a team we agreed to donate all our prize money plus a proportion of our profits which came to £100.00 to St Richards Hospice, Worcester, in order for them to continue their valuable work within the community. On behalf of every member of ‘Prestige’, we would like to thank the Young Enterprise Board, Ms Farr, Mrs Morris and the school for their tremendous support throughout the journey, an experience that will definitely benefit us in the near future and something we certainly will never forget.

Lizzie Laser ‘Blog’ Where did Easter go? One seemed to be back from one’s vacation no sooner that one went. Over 2600 pieces have now been cut and are in the process of being packaged to fulfil the order for Gordonstoun School. Here are some of the boxes ready to go.
The samples one created for Coughton Court (National Trust) were very well received, and we have the opportunity to take a stall at the property to ‘test the water’ regarding sales and merchandising. A commission was received as a leaving present for the manger, who is taking up a higher position, managing all Worcestershire National Trust sites (opportunities in the future perhaps). Based on the Russian Doll concept, three ‘Coughton Courts’ have been laser-cut as a desk tidy and ‘aide memoir’ and sample product.
It appears as though one may have an opportunity to run a stall at the Christmas Fayre at Coughton Court. One will produce a range of Christmas lines plus Coughton Court merchandise. May 15th, disaster; one’s computer has decided to throw a wobbly and stop talking. It has been removed to be made fully functional one hopes. Year 11 awards have been designed and are in the process of being cut and shaped in readiness for the ceremony just prior to halfterm.
Another project is to produce signage for specific areas around school; a group of year 11 students have been busy looking at different designs. We have been commissioned by a local shop and also a local craftsperson to produce items to be sold in store and on line, and to design and fabricate a range of ‘buttons’ for her handmade gift business. Late news; ‘Lizzies’ computer had died – rebuild to take place and ‘normal service will resume’………..

Leavers Eucharist—Friday, 24th May 2013 One Another's Light It’s hard to know what brought us here Away from here we’ve hardly ever been and now Are never likely to go again. Faces are lost, and places passed At which we could have stopped, And stopping, been glad enough. Some faces left a mark, And we on them might have wrought Some kind of charm or spell To make their futures work, But it's hard to guess How one person on another Works an influence. We pass, and lit briefly by one another's light Think the way we go is right.
Brian Patten, 'One Another's Light'
Go forth into the world in peace Go forth into the world in peace; be of good courage; hold fast that which is good; render to no one evil for evil; strengthen the fainthearted; support the weak; help the afflicted; honour everyone; love and serve the Lord, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit

Sports Department News Year 7 (under 12) Rugby The Chantry Tournament—Tuesday, 16th April 2013 Bishop Perowne’s Year 7 Rugby squad had been looking forward to this rearranged annual tournament with quiet confidence, having already secured sound wins over Tudor Grange Academy, Christopher Whitehead Language College and Blessed Edward Oldcorne Catholic College. A six team tournament, soon dropped to four with the late withdrawal of both Blessed’s and Nunnery Wood, but as always, Christopher Whitehead’s would prove stern opposition, and the threat of the hosts, The Chantry School, could not be underestimated. After a good quality warm up led by Jacob Terry, the squad threw their efforts into taking on a strong Christopher Whitehead Language College side, who immediately got to work out rucking us. However, knowing the size of the task presented to them, the Bishop’s boys started to slowly get a foothold in the match, and despite some poor body positions going into contact, and a slow defensive line speed, they started to get their noses in front, with tries from Sam Sowden, Jacob Terry and Geraint Howells. With confidence levels rising, and with the defensive example being set by Gastao De Sousa who made some ferocious tackles which belied his stature, the Bishops boys began to spread the play, developing some nice passing moves and perhaps looking to offload the ball a little too much on a sunny, yet blustery afternoon. From one such break, attacking deep into the Christopher Whitehead ’22, our opposition turned over ball, and ran the length of the pitch to score – the first try that this squad has conceded all year. Unperturbed, the Bishops boys continued to strive to maintain the upper hand, and eventually ran out winners, 25 – 5, thanks to further tries from skipper Jacob Terry and the omnipresent Geraint Howells. The second 20 minute game, saw us take on near neighbours Tudor Grange Academy, in what is always a keenly contested ‘local derby’. Despite some excellent, brave defence from the Tudor Grange boys, our Year 7’s were fired up for this game, and put TGAW to the sword with a brace of tries for Geraint Howells, a hat trick by Sam Sowden, and single tries for Will Bishop, Miles Watts and Adam Biddle finishing off some excellently worked team plays. Final score – Bishop Perowne 40, Tudor Grange Academy, Worcester 0. And so, with referee Mr. Preece’s officiating duties officially over, the boys went into their final match of the afternoon, a winner takes all contest with the home side, The Chantry School. In what proved to be a keenly fought contest, an early try from Geraint Howells set the tone, with further tries from Jacob Terry, Gastao De Sousa, and a second Howells effort, punctuating an evenly contested match, where a strong Chantry pack challenged the front row of Aston Howard, Ben Shuker, and Joshua Drinkwater. With Bishop Perowne comfortably ahead a nail biting last 5 minutes saw the Chantry boys throw the proverbial ‘kitchen sink’ at the Perowne line, and only heroic last minute defending and a final knock on within inches of the line, saved the Perowne line from being breached, with final score reading The Chantry School 0 – Bishop Perowne 20. All in all a good afternoon’s work from this set of boys, ably assisted by coaches Preece and Westrip – 3 x 20 minute games played; 85 points scored, and 5 points conceded – well played gentleman! Year 7 Chantry Tournament Squad: Aston Howard; Ben Shuker; Josh Drinkwater; Geraint Howells; Will Bishop; Jacob Terry; Harry Kendall; Sam Sowden; Adam Biddle; Bradley Warr; Gastao De Sousa; Louis Simmons; Miles Watts; Callum Finch-Back. Cricket Year 10 After putting Chantry into bat on a cold damp evening the boys soon went about destroying the top order with Ali picking up 2 quick wickets. Chantry made a come back in the middle overs but then the spin of Dickinson tied up the lower order batsmen in knots and reduced Chantry to 52. After a steady start nerves became a little frayed but again Hawes steered us home in the last over to win the win game. It was a fine batting display and Josh Hawes now averages over 120 for the school this year. Well done lads, we have now played 3 and won 2!! Which puts us top of the league

Tri Golf Festival for Year 4 3rd May On a bright and breezy Friday afternoon we held our annual Tri Golf Festival at Raven Meadow Golf Club for Year 4 children from St Georges, Claines , Northwick Manor and St Barnabas. They arrived keen and ready to learn some new skills. For most this was their first experience of playing on a 9 hole golf course. 8 holes of activity were set up using the greens to improve putting, chipping and driving. Each team had 5 competitors with a captain who kept the score card as they progressed around the course. The winning boys team was Warriors of Golf from St Barnabas and the winning girls team Rose from Claines. They will now compete in the City Schools final. Good luck to them. As a reward for their enthusiasm and effort in running this event the college leaders had free use of the driving range and showed off their golfing skills. On a very wet and windy evening our Year 9 Athletics team put in a strong performance at the District Championships. Sophie Tothill won the 1500m and we had top 3 finishes from Kieran Smith and Claudia Taylor. Well done to all concerned
Congratulations to the following Hannah Mathews, Kerry Williams, Charlotte Fletcher, Sam Dobson, Will Bishop and Will Haughty for their combined success in the Super Six Golf tournament held at Raven Meadow. This means that Bishop’s will be a part of this finals competition at the Summer Schools Games to be held in Bromsgrove. Girls Football Winners It is a pleasure to say that our Bishops girls’ football team are again the City League winners for the 5 th time in 5 years. This is a fantastic achievement, adding to that they have been unbeaten in all League games and County champions twice, runners up once. This team have been captained by Emily Burton who has stayed loyal and committed to school football whilst playing for Wolves at U14 and West Bromwich U17. She has led by example and plays every game with confidence and passion alongside Abi Laker who has also played for Wolves U14. Shahena Sultana and Nicole Le Poivendon have played in all matches from year 7 and been a great asset to the team. Some others students who have contributed to this team’s success were Shanice Hobbs and Jordan Blake and Sammie Burns and Abbie Whitehouse.

The Survival Camp—by Fortune Austin Ricketts—Year 7 Day 1 It all started with the minibus when we started loading it up with all the equipment. It was a hard job but we did it in the end. Then we all got onto the minibus which Gareth drove to our camp-site in Wales next to the Black Mountains. After we got there we all helped unload the minibus and put up the tents which were old army tents (we usually use ‘pop up’ tents) so we didn’t know what we were doing but we managed to do both tents in half an hour (which was good because we didn’t know what we were doing!) During that though the other half of the Scouts were cooking our dinner on a tranger, in my group we had rice and bolognaise sauce, because Tom forget to bring the pasta, but it was still nice. It was hard to clean afterwards because we used one tap with only cold water! But we still did it. Anyway, just after we finished we went to play ‘hide and seek’ (I admit I was scared because it was so dark so I didn’t play) After 10 minutes of being scared to death (only joking –ish) all of the scouts went to bed.
