Do You Want to Learn Affiliate Marketing? If you’re interested in learning affiliate marketing then you’re about to join the thousands of people that are earning an income online. Don’t be worried that the market is too saturated; everyone has to pick their own marketing or product niche which means that there’s plenty of room for more affiliate marketers. In fact, the millions of dollars’ worth of sales made via affiliate marketing every year has cemented this method firmly in the marketing and advertising world. But first, what is affiliate marketing? Affiliate marketing is basically when companies give out product links that other people can place in their websites, like a blog for example. When visitors click on the link and make a purchase, the blog owner gets a commission from the sale. Simple, right? The best thing about affiliate marketing is that it’s not a direct-selling kind of marketing method; instead, what you’re really doing is making recommendations. Which brings us to the first step that you need to know when you start to learn affiliate marketing: choosing a niche. Choosing a niche is important because I always recommend that people only choose affiliate products that they are familiar with and are genuinely interested in. For example, I think surfers should try marketing surf-related products and dog lovers should be affiliate marketers for dog training books or doggie treats. The honest approach is always best when trying to sell to computer-savvy and internet experienced clients – they can always tell when you’re offering real information or just trying to make money off of them. Besides, when you’re familiar with the product then you’ll have plenty to say in your content. After choosing a niche, the next step is to choose an affiliate marketing program. Not all affiliate marketing programs are the same. You have to look for a program that not only offers a fair commission for every sale but should also have a high conversion rate (at least 3% is standard). Think about it; even if you send hundreds of possible clients to the product page, if the page can only convert 0.25% of that traffic into actual sales, you won’t be making a lot of money despite your efforts. Aside from the conversion rate, you should also look into cancellations and returns, and payment method. The third step in your journey to learn affiliate marketing is creating a website, preferably a blog, where you can create high quality content that you can share with online people who, by showing interest in your blog, are more likely to also be interested in buying your product. Creating high quality content is essential; widen your range with videos and pictures as well as articles. Don’t be afraid to market your website with social media like Facebook and Twitter (social media can be your best friend in affiliate marketing). Blog platforms has made blogging pretty easy but I would still recommend Wordpress.org where you can skin your own themes or choose among a lot of free ones. There’s a lot more to affiliate marketing as you go but these are the three big steps that you have to take to get started.
