Finding the best affiliate marketing programs

Finding the Best Affiliate Marketing Programs There are affiliate programs and then there are affiliate programs. A lot of people will tell you that the first thing you need to do when you’re thinking of earning money via affiliate marketing is to find your niche, but I think that it should be finding a good affiliate program (with your niche in mind, of course). There are a lot of affiliate marketers who pour their efforts into talking about their chosen niche on a blog and taking all the right steps of connecting with their audience but don’t get paid because of low conversion rates or end up with nickel and dime payments. The best affiliate marketing programs on the market is able to convert traffic into sales better and offers a decent amount for your efforts so that you can actually make a living off of being an affiliate marketer. But wait; what exactly is a conversion rate? Say you send 100 people to your affiliate program website and the website itself can make a sale to 1 person for every hundred. That’s a one percent conversion rate. And while one percent used to be standard just a few years ago, I would advise affiliates to go for an affiliate program that has at least a three percent conversion rate. A higher conversion rate is more efficient in generating income for your efforts. For example, if you get paid $10 for every sale, you will get $10 if you send a hundred people to the affiliate program website whereas with a three percent conversion rate you would get $30. If a website’s conversion rate is incredibly low, your efforts would all go to waste; you won’t be making much. Another thing you should think about when choosing the best affiliate marketing programs, aside from the obvious commission fee per sale, is the cookie duration. A cookie marks the visitor from your affiliate link so that the affiliate program knows you sent him their way. If the visitor buys the product within the cookie duration, you’ll get the commission. If he buys the product after the cookie duration expires, then he’s not your catch. Take Amazon, for example. They’ll give you a commission for any sale you send their way but the cookie doesn’t last for over 24 hours. Keep an eye out for longer cookie life; the longer the cookie duration, the better. Also, before signing up for an affiliate program, look into their product’s cancellation or return rate. Even if they have a very high conversion rate and sell a lot of the products, if the clients end up returning them anyway, you still won’t get a commission. Before signing up for an affiliate marketing program, try to examine it from every direction and see if it’s worth pouring your efforts into.
