How Small Businesses Can Make Money on Facebook More than changing the landscape for marketing and advertising, the internet has given the Davids of the business world a fighting chance against the Goliaths. Not too long ago, marketplaces were saturated with the same products from the same big brands or the same huge service providers. But the internet revived the power of the word of mouth; it created a place where people could give recommendations and reviews and other people actually listened. And one of the biggest social and communication platforms online is undoubtedly Facebook. Facebook has millions of users spending hours online, primed for marketing. It gives the opportunity for small businesses (even lone entrepreneurs) to make a lot of money online. But even knowing that there’s a lot of cash to be made off of Facebook, how to make money on Facebook isn’t as simple as just creating a fan page. Small businesses make money on Facebook by letting you feel that their brand is your brand. Much like the feeling of a personal touch that Starbucks used to offer its customers, the advantage of small businesses has always been the kind of attention that people don’t feel they can get from large corporations. And Facebook gives you the perfect opportunity to give your clients that connection and that special attention. That’s why, as a small business, you need to socialize more than you sell (on Facebook, at least). Encourage them to tag you and feel free to repost when they do. Like some of their posts that are related to your company’s mission and offers and, most importantly, offer content that’s useful to them. Here’s a tip – one post a day is ideal; six posts and more per day will only drive clients to unlike your page so keep it low and avoid flooding. In Facebook marketing, your goals are to get plenty of likes, to measure the kind of audience that responds to your appeal, and to keep those likes that you do get. With high quality content, you can get people’s attention and encourage them to share your posts with your friends. To get them to like your page, you will also need a clear call-to-action. Don’t let the graphic space for the cover picture on Facebook go to waste; use it to direct clients’ attention to the like button. It’s a small change that can make a lot of difference. One other thing about how to make money on Facebook; you can’t really do without a landing page or a separate website. Because you can’t really directly sell on Facebook, you need that supplementary site to build your sales pitch and to build your email list. Facebook gives you access to a lot of people and it lets you pick out your target audience from the crowd which will help you get not just traffic but high quality traffic for your website that’s more likely to convert to sales.
