FROM THE CHAIRPERSON...
by Air Malta
The economy of the Maltese Islands is highly dependent on air connectivity. Air Malta presently carries around 26% of passengers into Malta International Airport annually, providing all-year round stable and regular connections. The month of June is one of our busiest months as travel intensifies both into and out of Malta. In addition to our already extensive summer destinations, we are excited to be launching Lisbon on 26th of June, to complement our schedule. Apart from the scheduled sum mer programme of flights, this month Air Malta has organised dedicated charter flights from Andorra, Cyprus, Monaco, and San Marino whose teams will be participating in The Games for the Small States of Europe being held in Malta between Sunday 28th May, and Sunday 4th June.
For customers travelling in our Premium Cabin, we have created and launched a variety of new menus utilising ingredients from local produce. To elevate your travel experience and sample the new dishes you may upgrade your flight by going to the newly launched Air Malta shop, a portal to book any extra requirements for your travels. Most extras, including extra baggage, sports equipment, in-flight meals, Premium Cabin upgrades and Go-First Priority board are available for any of our flights, others may be limited according to length of route. FROM THE EDITOR...
Dear travellers,
Who can believe we are halfway through 2023 already? While some are counting down the days to Summer, some of us are already counting the days down to Christmas…
But before we arrive at either, we have a packed edition to share with you. Our team have been busy on a staycation in Birgu, one of the Three Cities, chatting with bag designer, Gabriella Lukacs about her lastest collection designed to incorporate the intricate tradition of lace making, and reminisced on motherhood with a beautiful book on the subject.
We share some ideas on workshops and things to do if you’re travelling solo – these will help you to try your hand at something different, meet other like-minded people - and who knows, you might discover a new skill and meet your next travel buddy! There are so many events of every genre from flamenco to exhibitions to dance parties and live music – so take this edition of Il-Bizzilla off the plane with you, so you don’t miss a beat!
EuroPride is being staged in Malta this September and we meet Robert La Bua who shares some info on the event. We alsomeet Shaun Farrugia, a Maltese musician making waves on the international stage, who is also performing here on June 29th –which is one of the two public holidays this month. The other is the 7th June, so expect even more activity the night before! Shops and restaurants stay open, it’s just banks and most offices that close for those dates.
Take a peek at the installation planned by the artists chosen to represent Malta for the London Design Biennale – it might make you look at our lovely villages with a different eye.
We have many suggestions of where to eat too; there’s a wide choice to suit every palate and pocket.
Have a wonderful trip, and make everyday count.
