Praise in the Branches

Morning is up Whate’er the weather Night yields to praise Singing in feather Chorus of joy Starting the day’s chores Heard still at dusk Thanking for day’s stores.

Might all our ways Copy the wee bird Filled with God’s praise Ever by Him heard Then so much more Gladsome a sojourn Would we but sing His tune of trust learn.

Life is a thrill Vivid and stirring Join in the song Each day occurring.

Father in Heaven Waits with rich blessing Loosed by our praise 2

Unite My Heart

You must do it You must draw me To that place of perfect peace Where your truth Becomes my balance And your smile my heart’s release.

I am tired of double motives And the soul pushed to and fro’ I would rather listen to you For directions where to go.

And the past proved you are worthy To receive my utmost trust.

The Possession 3

Nothing beats the treasure Of a settled restful heart You remember all the pressure Vain ambition would impart You remember all the worries As your sand went through the glass And the Monday morning pressure That you never thought would pass.

But words came then like “faithful And trusting and restored�

And the lies that hung like weights Were corrected by our Lord And you felt His coming closer And attending to each trial Tinsel treats no longer mattered You had rescue in His smile.

Of Andrew's Spirit

We have found Him And know that He is truth Distilled and pure.

A certain Spring, Though damp and slush Delay the budding.

A Prince with yarns Of fields and flowers And feathered trust.

Unspoiled by gold Or other trappings Of convention.

Unmoved by rank Or rule of present powers.

But moved by Smallest cry of Pain or shame Or lonely lot.

A Man whose every Waking step displays Assurance, equity, Mercy, patience, hope Direct from Heaven.

Whose gaze commands.

The Promised One. Re-charging nightly On hills of prayer, (With His Father, so He says.)

Peter Went Out

​ And Peter went out, and wept bitterly.” ​Read these seven words “ from Luke 22 and realize that they contain the kernel of sanctification.

Peter had had all of this exposure to the power and promise of Jesus but he was still tempted to warm himself in the early morning chill at the fires of the world. Meanwhile cutting chains held the Master captive.

Jesus had prophesied Peter’s three-time denial and it was happening.

Peter had felt that his loyalty to Jesus was unshakable, even to the death.

But here he was quaking and swearing before women and strangers that he did not even know the Galilean.

Believer, when Jesus gives you a candid look at the evil still within your own heart, pray that you will have the grace and the opportunity to do as Peter did. It will happen alone. It will be a Godly sort of repentance. It will be a milestone marking supernatural change.

And what is going on in that world which you are renouncing? It is still inclined to mock and to crucify Jesus and His “little ones”, and to consider it entertainment. It does this in the face of the following: Luke 21: 25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; 26Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken

Lazarus' Sisters

“His sisters sent unto him, saying, Jesus Lord, behold, he whom thou lovest is sick.” John 11:3 6

In their trouble the first thought of the sisters was of Jesus, and they sent at once to Him. This lesson we should not overlook. No doubt they sent for the physician; but they sent also for Christ (on brother Lazarus’ behalf). We should never fail to send word to Christ when anything is wrong in our home. We should want Him always in our sick-rooms when our loved ones are suffering.

We must notice also the message which the sisters sent to Christ. It was very short and simple. They did not beg and plead with Him to come, — indeed they made no request whatever; they merely told Jesus that His friend was sick, and left to Himself to decide what He would do. They knew that He would do the right thing from the prompting of His own heart.

Notice also the plea. They did not say, “He who loves thee is sick,” but, “He whom Thou lovest is sick.” They made their appeal to Christ’s own heart rather than to any personal claim. This is always our best plea with Christ — His love for us, not our love for Him. There is something also in this message which speaks of a deep feeling of peace in the midst of danger. Many persons in such experiences lose all their courage and ofttimes their faith; but these sisters, though in such deep distress, maintained their composure. They had learned lessons of peace from Christ in the bright, sunny days beforehand, and when the trouble came they were ready for it, and were not disturbed.

If we would get Christ’s sweet comfort when sorrow comes, we must welcome Him in the days of gladness. If this Bethany family had shut Christ out of their home when they were all well and happy, they could not have had His blessed comfort in their sore distress. We must take Christ in the bright days if we would have Him when it grows dark.

By Father and Son And prophesies rang true And Son was glorified And Spirit was sent.

And you have heard that Spirit is love, joy, peace Long-suffering, faith And other things Truly novel to the planet.

Thus love arrived Vibrant and unprecedented Accepting the unlovely Or strenuous or humiliating All for mercy's sake And for fellowship And reproduction Yielding Triune wonders and Birthing joy as never before Consolation's new currency Spreading like Happy milkweed aloft In summer's radiant morn.

Would you like To end the blaming 10

And the sense of Ne’er do well Would you like To flee the darkness And the looming Threat of hell Would you like To catch the Son-rise Whether sky is Gray or bright Would you like To thrill in Day’s chores Then a settled Sleep at night?

All included Through the Saviour Who has suffered In our stead And endured The crash of Judgment In the way That Father led.

(Faith’s promises will stay the course and show us mercy's plan And honour, giving, gratitude to dignify each man.
