Sleepy Christmas Offered by Doug Blair, Kitchener ON, 2021
While Others Slept
We saw the shepherds rushing Through the town in darkest night All the folk were still a-sleeping Else they might have seen the Light. Was as if an angel choir Had announced to drowsy men That the Lord was caught engaging In the small affairs of men?

Heard next morning that an innkeeper Had been hosting birthing joy Which the shepherds gladly witnessed In the state of a wee Boy. He was settled by the cattle And the pigeons’ cooing song Had a Star announced Messiah? Had our Rescue come along?

We take a dusting of the white It helps recall that Silent Night When mankind saw the Oath performed Messiah come so humbly, born. A hallowed maid in turmoil brought To stable’s rest, not overwrought But midst those beasts, her Husband too The Saviour held, while pigeons cooed.

Expansive Blessing (Psalm 71: 15)
"I know not the numbers thereof". Your righteousness And ready salvation. But truly you are fitting out A marvelous free Nation. Those folks who reference God's will first Who wait for whispers powering In spite of thunders Slander, hurt From testy mortals glowering. Yet search goes on And treasures yield 4
As if on seashore digging For shells of beauty, sounding air To transform hope and thinking. So hard to measure all there is To picture Him to thank But Love and Mercy lead the list On these, men surely bank.
Still It is still And a misty curtain Pulls back Revealing overnight snows. Kids will be thrilled This Christmas Morn. City is in lockdown Very few places to go. But into the Heart Into the Joy of God. Who releases Redemption To a weary and oppressed Place of little ones. Who have been waiting Who have now the Answer. They have asked When?

Where? How ? Why? Who? By Whom? He has replied smiling “See the Babe In His simplicity Receiving immediate worship From a select few Promising the distribution Of wholeness and cleanness In and through His earth walk Like none other. Let Earth receive her King.”

How was it that

I could not see
The massive Step
From Heavenlies
Into our bruising World
Mercy and Grace unfurled
No one but
You to do the deed
Answering
Every need, every need…

There is Another Advent
Heaven on Earth by Ron DiCianni
In prophecy the Bible describes a time of general peace upon the planet. Certainly we are not seeing it now. Rather, oppression, grabbing, slander, godlessness.
But as in every other case God’s word will accomplish its objective.
Imagine, Jesus in glorified person, administering everything from Jerusalem. The knowledge of God being spread without impediment:
Jeremiah 31: 8
34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the Lord: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.
Habakkuk 2:
14 For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.
Matthew 25:
34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

Imagine, all the ebb and flow of slaughter, covetousness, mendacity, suspicion and fearful outburst brought to an end. I tried to get the feel of it in a poem entitled Redemption’s Spring.

Ruminations After Turkey
Have you had it

Or most of it
Sated with a good meal
Hearts enlarged
By family laughter
And love’s exchange
A song or two
Suggesting the cold
Struggle for Messiah’s
Entrance.
It has come
11
In many packages
Over the years
Loved ones moving on
In the hope
And assurance
Of that blissful Entrance.
Glory to God
And on Earth peace…
And assuredly
Goodwill toward those

Hungry humbled and hurting
In coming days.
Prayer: Lord, we thrill at the dynamics of Christmas. The anticipation. Adventures of giving and receiving. Speaking words of greeting and Good News to random ones encountered, while music plays and lights twinkle. Calling home of Family and treasured memories…But the day comes and goes. A melancholy around Town says that the rejoicing is passed. The engagement again draws close to the breast, and is denied to ones we meet. This must not be so in the Family of Faith, the ones to whom Jesus has come in everyday experience. Bring this into the Earth for all those intended in Your Great Plan…Amen
