Venturing

Venturing Going up higher, and only by Grace Offered by Doug Blair, Waterloo ON, 2020

You are not half way

Up the Mountain

Most days neither am I

Seems so unattainable

1

So Holy and High.

But Christ is there

And yet aware of all

We struggle through.

He comes beside

And lives inside

(If we have bid Him welcome.)

He holds the key

Each mystery of Grace

To be disclosed:

Wisdom

2

Righteousness

Sanctification

Redemption

Made unto us (1 Cor. 1: 30, 31)

Yes here His higher ground

Indwelling; hopes shown, found.

So venture, self-abasing

Fretting, our small.

His the great and tall

The grand and helpful

Up higher still

3

Granting freedom unto all.

So climb, if you will.

Large Requests Your love and largesse

Will stoop to no bound

You come with the rescue

And things once unthought.

And I am your partner

Might I pray so largely

That miracles happen

4

Through one Calvary bought.

But never to stand proud

And never to seek praise!

I just want to work with you

Through endless days.

And no insult here

Through guarded request

Or trembling or doubting

That You mean your best.

5

Mountain God

(Mountains around Maligne Lake, Alberta)

Not changing

With shifting wind.

Cupping the sunrise

As a thing

Flashing forth

6

By your consent.

Source of waters

Highland streams

Where small

Scampering things

Greet new day’s warmth.

Seeming source

Of thunders

Arsenal of bolts

Of shocking power.

Singer of haunting

7

Night wind’s tunes.

There in place,

Your place

Long before the fathers.

Halting our present breath

With steep inclines,

Testing the might

Of leg and limb.

Pausing to cradle

Dwarfish alpen blossoms

Hidden thawing beauties

8

Delighting, perhaps,

You alone.

We look up to you

And seek understanding.

Mountain God

Our God‌forever.

(Psalm 48)

In the Order of Melchizedek Father I wear them on my heart

A delightful burden

For the priestly call

9

I love them all.

As parent for a tumultuous Clan

I know what’s in Man

Been there for the whole ambit

Suffered, bled, died

Rose with laughter

The Grave a humbled foe.

Father might they all know

Did it for them

Would do it again

But thankfully “once” was enough.

10

And Spirit conveys the right stuff

To hungry, thirsty ones.

Your daughters and sons.

(Read Hebrews 7 through 9)

Prayer: Heavenly Father, we seem to study endlessly the teachings about your Grace extended to every Child of Faith. But we do not live in the confidence of this as we should. You tell us to come boldly to Your Throne. Without condemnation or trembling. This is all because of what Jesus accomplished in His Passion and Rising. Please Father move within us to create new vistas of victory, not for self, but for the Body of Christ, the growing Church. As simple children we will ask humbly and stand believing. You have all the Power. You have all the Glory. We will overcome and see wonders.

In Jesus’ Name I pray...Amen.
