JUNE HIGHLIGHTS JUNE HIGHLIGHTS
MYC SUMMER CAMPS
Teens join Milam Youth Center (MYC) for fun in the sun camp activities JUNE 5-26! There will be a fun camp, water camp, Iron Chef camp and summer games! Camps will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Registration is required and can be done at Milam Youth Center. Teens must be registered with CYS to participate in the Summer Camps. IRON SOLDIER UNITY RUN
Join Fort Bliss Sports, Fitness & Aquatics to celebrate Unity with a 5K fun run SATURDAY, JUNE 10! Run starts at 8 a.m., commemorative shirts and medals will be given to all paid participants. The cost is $20 for Active-Duty/Retiree, $25 for the public and $12 for minors ages 5-17. Toddlers in strollers are free, t-shirts and medals will not be provided. Registration is required. To register, visit Soto, Milam and/or Stout PFCs or active.com by June 7. Late registration will be June 8 from 4 to 6 p.m. and June 9 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Freedom Crossing food court. ARMY STRONG: STRENGTH & CONDITIONING
The Fort Bliss Department of Human Performance invites local athletes to the 15th Annual Army Strong: Strength & Conditioning Camp (ASSCC). This summer, it will start MONDAY, JUNE 12 from 9 to 11 a.m. at Ironworks West Gym. The ASSCC is a 6-week strength and conditioning camp for athletes, ages 13-18 designed to improve strength, speed and reduce risk for injury. The cost is $180 for the full course. AQUAPALOOZA
It’s all about water SATURDAY, JUNE 17 as Fort Bliss MWR kicks off summer with Aquapalooza! Come by Biggs Park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for free water games, water inflatables and fun activities! The event is free and open to the public. For more information, call 915-588-8247.
SPIN INTO SUMMER
Get ready for this 75-minute instructor-led beach themed outdoor cycling experience! Join Fort Bliss Fitness, SATURDAY, JUNE 24 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Soto PFC Turf. The cost is $15 per person, includes a t-shirt. Water and fruits will be provided. Sunblock is strongly recommended. This is open to the public. Registration is required and can be done at Soto PFC. KAYAK THE RIO
Don't miss your chance for this unique experience! Outdoor Recreation will guide you down the river near Las Cruces. Then, enjoy food and shopping in the town of Mesilla SATURDAYS, JUNE 10 & 24 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Space is limited, open to ages 18 and older. Here’s a question, “what do you know about Fort Bliss?”
Did you know that it is centrally located in El Paso, TX? Yes, right outside the gates is the beautiful city of El Paso. It’s the second largest military installation of the U.S. Army and Home of America’s Tank Division. There is so much that Fort Bliss and the El Paso community has to offer! All you have to do is venture out and look for things to do.
First and foremost, Fort Bliss MWR has you covered with a plethora of programs, classes and events for Soldiers and their Families.
Do you know what MWR stands for?
MWR stands for Morale, Welfare and Recreation and is a network of support and leisure services designed for use by U.S. service members and their Families. There are many programs to take advantage of, from child youth programs to recreation, entertainment, travel and more.
Throughout the year, there are multiple events happening for Soldiers and Families. There are three large scale events held at Fort Bliss, Armed Forces Day Parade (May), Pop Goes the Fort (July) and Oktoberfest (September)! Check out more events the rest of the year such as Aquapalooza, Lucha Libre, Cardboard Regatta, Doggy Swim Day, Monster Bash, Holiday Fest and more!
Are you looking for something else? Well, take a swing at Underwood Golf Complex, bowl your way at Desert Strike Lanes, hang out at Monti Warrior Zone or try out the lunch specials at Centennial Banquet and Conference Center.

If you’re the recreational type, Intramurals have a lot of sporting events to attend or participate in. If you just want to workout, there are 9 physical fitness centers to choose from! Like to workout in groups? Join Fort Bliss Fitness, they have lots of classes to attend. Outdoor Recreation will take you out on hikes, tours, climbing and kayaking. The pools will keep you cool, during the hot summers.
If you’re the indoor type visit Mickelsen Library for leisurely reading or partake in art projects at Art & Hobby Shop, the most popular class is candle making! Need to plan a trip? Stop by Leisure Travel Services at Soldier Activity Center or Freedom Crossing food court, they will help you out in the right direction.
Fort Bliss MWR caters to all! Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers (BOSS) is a great program for Soldiers to be a part of. BOSS has a mission of improving single Soldiers’ lives, based on the three pillars: quality of life, community service and recreation and leisure.
Utilize the different assistance programs provided by Army Community Service. There’s Relocation Readiness, Army Volunteer Corps, Employment Readiness and Mobilization and Deployment Readiness, Financial Services and more!
If child care is what you are searching for, head on over to Parent Central where they can help you register your children for all child youth services provided by MWR! There are sport programs, educational programs and curricular activities available for your children, ages infant to teens!

Recycle Hero spotlight has been awarded to SGT Stone. She attended all Grand Challenge inspections, encouraged her peers to do their part to recycle right, and assisted with spreading recycling awareness by having individuals from her unit follow the QRP social media accounts to further their recycling knowledge. SGT Stone's efforts ultimately lead her unit to victory!
