TO FORT BLISS!

It’s time to say good-bye to spring time and hello to summer! The same goes for all Military Families who are changing duty stations to a different post. Hope your stay here at Fort Bliss was an eventful one and that you’ll come visit soon!

For those who are arriving to the Fort Bliss area, welcome!

Here’s a question, “what do you know about Fort Bliss?”

Did you know that it is centrally located in El Paso, TX? Yes, right outside the gates is the beautiful city of El Paso. It’s the second largest military installation of the U.S. Army and Home of America’s Tank Division. There is so much that Fort Bliss and the El Paso community has to offer! All you have to do is venture out and look for things to do.

First and foremost, Fort Bliss MWR has you covered with a plethora of programs, classes and events for Soldiers and their Families.

Do you know what MWR stands for?

MWR stands for Morale, Welfare and Recreation and is a network of support and leisure services designed for use by U.S. service members and their Families. There are many programs to take advantage of, from child youth programs to recreation, entertainment, travel and more.

Throughout the year, there are multiple events happening for Soldiers and Families. There are three large scale events held at Fort Bliss, Armed Forces Day Parade (May), Pop Goes the Fort (July) and Oktoberfest (September)! Check out more events the rest of the year such as Aquapalooza, Lucha Libre, Cardboard Regatta, Doggy Swim Day, Monster Bash, Holiday Fest and more!

Are you looking for something else? Well, take a swing at Underwood Golf Complex, bowl your way at Desert Strike Lanes, hang out at Monti Warrior Zone or try out the lunch specials at Centennial Banquet and Conference Center.

Still not impressed?

If you’re the recreational type, Intramurals have a lot of sporting events to attend or participate in. If you just want to workout, there are 9 physical fitness centers to choose from! Like to workout in groups? Join Fort Bliss Fitness, they have lots of classes to attend. Outdoor Recreation will take you out on hikes, tours, climbing and kayaking. The pools will keep you cool, during the hot summers.

If you’re the indoor type visit Mickelsen Library for leisurely reading or partake in art projects at Art & Hobby Shop, the most popular class is candle making! Need to plan a trip? Stop by Leisure Travel Services at Soldier Activity Center or Freedom Crossing food court, they will help you out in the right direction.

Fort Bliss MWR caters to all! Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers (BOSS) is a great program for Soldiers to be a part of. BOSS has a mission of improving single Soldiers’ lives, based on the three pillars: quality of life, community service and recreation and leisure.

Utilize the different assistance programs provided by Army Community Service. There’s Relocation Readiness, Army Volunteer Corps, Employment Readiness and Mobilization and Deployment Readiness, Financial Services and more!

If child care is what you are searching for, head on over to Parent Central where they can help you register your children for all child youth services provided by MWR! There are sport programs, educational programs and curricular activities available for your children, ages infant to teens!

Fort Bliss MWR is there for you and your Family, come out and join the fun!

Welcome to Fort Bliss!
