SP 23

This season as we continue our studies in domestic materiality with American White Oak, Roble - California Valley Oak, Tule Rush, Guanacaste, Flamed Copper, Selenite Marquetry, and terracotta, we have also worked to introduce new materials to our practice. We have sourced new materials and craftwork indigenous to the regions on the three shores of the Mediterranean, along the Nile River, throughout the Fertile Crescent Region, down the Pacific Coastline, from the Gulf of California, and throughout North America. An increased attention to fine detail and traditional joinery along with refined scale and a transcendent perspective, embodies a new chapter in our journey. Limed and vegetable tanned goatskin vellum, olive ash burl, and Euphrates bullrush, handblown glass and marble from quarries specified by pharaohs are among the building blocks of our collections. Ourprocess,

regardless of material origin, gives special attention to construction, texture, and manipulation of nature.

This new collection focus on raw materials articulated in unique applications and in combinations that create interest and present with integrity. This is all to further our ambitions of making products that improve the lives of those they touch, at every level. We believe the daily framing of our world as a place to explore and contribute to, manifests in the sanctuaries we make of our homes.

MONTROSE COLLECTION

The Montrose Collection reflects memories of the raw natural beauty of the Southern California Foothills - days spent in craftsman bungalows, filtered light dancing through twisted live oaks as a salted breeze calls - contemporary silhouetting rooted in craftsman construction with an effortless outlook.

MONTROSE DINING TABLE

Poised sabre legs meet a solid oak ovolo edge at a miter, while hand brushing contours the subtleties of a tailored silhouette. Techniques of sumizome, bleaching, or fuming are applied to enhance the wood's natural grain, creating a raw, refined table. An alternating grained parquetry top rays across the dining surface and a unique concealed adjustment system and solid brass leaf locks maintain the table's stately stance while comfortably accommodating up to twelve.

Three-way miters meet as a parquetry slab top rises, white oak grain frames the natural variationa of our smooth limed and vegetable tanned goatskin vellum. Materials selected to contour the subtleties of a tailored silhouette, terminate in a refined saber leg. Push to open drawers and doors feature hardware produced in Germany, while doors and shelves are set off in natural brass cast scissor hinges and threaded shelf pins.

Three-way mitered legs meet as a sculpted radiused edges plunges below, White Oak conturing the subtleties of a tailored silhouette. The wire brushed finishes enhance the wood's natural grain creating a raw, refined table. Finished in a variety of sumizome, bleached, or fumed finishes to enhance the natural character of the wood with reverence, creating a raw but refined collection.

VASQUEZ COLLECTION

Drawing reference to geological formations found at Vasquez Rocks, located in the Sierra Pelona Mountains of northern Los Angeles, the Vasquez Collection takes its motif and material expression from the namesake sandstone formations that were formed by uplift activity along the San Andreas Fault.

Heavily grained oak is joined traditionally to frame a mosaic patchwork of geometric forms, expressed in rugged Sinai Pearl Marble. A combination of concealed push to open and brass hardware keep the natural expression true while the three board construction and through joint details recall the robust framing of agricultural buildings that stipple the nearby foothills.

Unifying heritages of architecture and science the Galileo Collection is a modern interpretation of classical archetype, refined to pure elements. Solid turned oak legs telescope between milled reeding and finish with a scalloped corner entablature. Bespoke cast brass olive knuckle hinges, tongued pulls, cross-stretcher supports, accent the oak construction while adjustable and removable shelves along with soft close and push to open doors and drawers bring flexible storage and convenience.

GALILEO BAR CABINET

Unifying heritages of architecture and science the Galileo Bar Cabinet is a modern interpretation of classical architectural form, refined to pure elements. Solid turned oak legs telescope between milled reeding and finish with a scalloped corner entablature. Flexible storage is aided by a removable and adjustable pull-out work surface. A removable base shelf allows for under case storage or nesting and accommodates multiple functions. Adjustable internal shelves in two depths allow for various bottle and glass heights, two dovetailed soft-close drawers sit at the ready below reeded doors. Bespoke cast brass olive knuckle hinges, tongued pulls, and cross-stretcher accent the oak construction.

FROM ALEXANDRIA

Fought over for millennia, Ottoman Persians, Byzantines, Romans, Greeks, Muqawqis, France and England have all laid claim its’ twin harbors. Alexandria is a vibrant city that now houses our finest wood furniture workshop. With exotic materials from the surrounding African continent and staple hardwoods like French Oak and Olive Wood a short passage across the Mediterranean Sea, and most of all with the ingenuity and precision of our Egyptian team, it is quickly becoming the epicenter of our developing line. Each piece of furniture we hand craft in Alexandria is traditionally bench made.
