A Message from your Bulletin Editor Summer’s over, which means it’s time for another year of school, but also another year of service with Key Club! My name is Denise Rigo, Junior and Bulletin Editor of our club for 2014-2015. I’d like to welcome you all back to Key Club, and those of you joining us this year will have a great time with the club, and won’t regret your decision to join! Before we get started with anything, I’d like to give everyone a few pointers and reminders. To participate in projects and events as a member of Key Club, you must pay dues on time. Dues are $20 and it covers the price of the shirts, goes to Key Club International, and donates money to the Eliminate Project. The sooner dues are paid, the sooner members can be registered. Secondly, starting this year, meetings will be held after school on Tuesdays instead of the Wednesday activity period. This is so you can spend activity period for its intended purpose of meeting with teachers to get extra help or complete classwork/tests. Meetings are held in the cafeteria in the area by the Key Club office (the “peanut-free zone”). The club’s office is on the first floor across from the school store. If you have any questions or missed a meeting, don’t be shy to come down to the Key Club office after school to ask questions or pick up an agenda. A board member or advisor will be there to help you out. Finally, please spread the word about Key Club! We are a student-led organization that teaches leadership skills through service and it’s where you can have a positive impact on the lives of others. You might even meet people who you will become lifelong friends with through the club! BHS Key Club Editor, Denise Rigo

Presidential Message First, I would like to welcome everyone back to school. Every year is a different experience, and I am very excited for this service year and all that is in store for this club. I hope to see some new faces, as well as the returning, at Membership Night and throughout the year. Executive board will be working to make this a memorable year for all members. There are several incredible opportunities through Key Club that can only be experienced from attending our events, a District Convention or taking up one of the leadership roles offered. Our goal aside from serving the community is to make everyone feel welcome. Despite what some think, the general members are essential to the club. There are many different people in this club, but if we come together we can carry out some pretty amazing events. I look forward to seeing all of you this year. Your President, Rosalyn Feliciano

A Message from our Advisors Welcome back! I hope that everyone had an enjoyable summer and is ready for a new school year filled with various projects. The Key Club has been busy planning many activities, both old and new, that are not to be missed.

We will be kicking the year off with our annual fall car wash on Saturday, September 13th. This is a huge fundraiser for us so I hope to see everyone there ready to wash some cars! On Thursday, September 18th we will be hosting our membership night for new and old members to pay their dues and get to know everyone in the club. We will be providing a reunion tour for the Class of 1964 on Saturday, September 27th. Stay tuned for more details! Induction Night will be held on Thursday, October 9th in the auditorium. Please save the date so you can be recognized as either a new or returning member of Key Club. We will also give out the club t-shirt that night. Lastly, get ready to travel to Six Flags for the annual NJ District Key Club Fall Rally on Sunday, October 12th. The cost is $50 and should be handed in to Mr. Cappello by Wednesday, September 23rd.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the events we have planned for the next two months. Please encourage your friends to come to a meeting or an event to see firsthand that Key Club is filled with fun activities and truly a phenomenal organization.

Greetings from our Lieutenant Governor! Hello, everyone! My name is Ricky Thompson and I am serving as the 2014-2015 Lieutenant Governor for Division 18 of the New Jersey District of Key Club International. Division 18 is one of 22 divisions. Although we are the smallest by land amount, we sure do not lack in the amount of service and spirit that comes out of our division! Division 18 is made up of Belleville High School, Bloomfield High School, Clifton High School, Glen Ridge High School, Nutley High School, and St. Mary’s High School. Every summer Key Clubbers from around the world gather in a city in the United States to elect a new board, vote on new amendments, and to learn in informational workshops provided by Key Clubbers just like you. This year’s International Convention (ICON) was held in sunny Anaheim, California, which I was lucky enough to attend. We stopped in Los Angeles, Santa Monica, Venice Beach, Hollywood and of course, the iconic Hollywood Sign. New Jersey also had the chance to elect a past LTG as one of 11 international trustees that serve on the international board.

And every fall, Key Clubbers from around the state get pumped for service, or should I say, “Animated with Service,” in honor of this year’s theme. Fall Rally is an event hosted by the district board where 2,000 Key Clubbers gather at Six Flags Great Adventure to have the chance to have the whole park to themselves for 2 whole hours!

Editor’s Note: ICON photo credits to Patrick Quinn, the NJ District Editor! For more info on Fall Rally, check the flyer on the next page, also made by Patrick Quinn.
