EDITOR'S LETTER

bhskeyclubeditor@gmail.com

Hey Key Club! Welcome to February! This year is moving along so quickly, so be sure to grab ahold to the service opportunities this month has in store.

You will have the chance to participate in our "Week Of Service", which is where you get to do service that supports education within NJ. By just by decorating cards during lunch, or supervising children and helping them with crafts/serving them snacks, you will make strides in helping out the Bloomfield community and sharing valuable knowledge.

Keep up to date with our Remind and Google classroom to learn about more upcoming service opportunities.

I hope you have a lovely February! And as always, if you have any questions, you can always reach out to an advisor or board member. Be sure to browse our Google Classroom, Remind, and social media to stay alert on everything Key-Club.

Yours in Caring Service,

PRESIDENTS' LETTER

Hello All!

Happy February! This month we are so excited to bring a new event to the public. On the 15th, we will be hosting our first annual “Drop n’ Dine”. It will take place in the BHS cafeteria at 5:30pm. We are welcoming all kiddos from ages 4-10. We are so excited to have a fun evening with them by playing games, making crafts, eating snacks and finally watching Toy Story 4 to finish off the evening! And not to mention, all proceeds from this event will go to The Ethan Lindberg Foundation which supports families who are impacted by congenital heart disease! If your child(ren) would like to attend this event, please visit the link in our instagram bio!

Now, who wants to go to the biggest gathering of key clubbers in the state aka DECON? BHS Key Club does! It will be on March 24-25 in Princeton, NJ. We will be attending different workshops and celebrating the end of the service year. If you are a BHS Key Clubber and you would like to attend, please see one of us and we will happily give you more details.

Additionally, if you enjoy volunteering with us and you would like to get more involved within the club by becoming a part of our board next year, please see one of our advisors!

Please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have!

Yours in Caring and Service,

NTS

DISTRICT PROJECT Education is Key!

The District Project is a way for Key Club to make a difference towards a certain cause every year. This year, our District Project is focused on education and stopping the widening of the learning gap; our goal is to help others reach their full educational potential. So far, we have achieved this through our Key Traits 4 Kids field trips. From February 6th through February 10th, we will be holding our Week of Service. On the next page you'll find more details about this service opportunity.

READING IS SWEET PROJECT

To participate in NJ Key Club's Week of Service (which takes place from February 6th - 10th), we will be making Valentine's Day Reading Bags to promote reading among the 3rd graders in Bloomfield. Thank you to everyone who helped out with creating and decorating some of the 400 paper bags, which will soon be filled with handmade bookmarks and flashcards of vocabulary words with definitions.

In the bags we will also include pencils and lollipops! Help us reach our goal of 400 bags by making more bags during lunch and/or after school this week & next week. Sign-ups can be found on Google Classroom & Remind.

ADVOCACY FOCUS

Health Conditions & Disease Awareness

Alzheimer's

Our Advocacy Focus is a way for us to raise awareness for specific relevant issues. This year, we are focusing on various prevalent diseases in America. During September and October, we focused on Breast Cancer Awareness, and for November through February, we are focusing on Alzheimer's Disease. Being the 7th leading cause of death in the US, and a leading cause of dementia, Alzheimer's disease is a serious illness that deteriorates one's memory and other mental functions.

Stay tuned for future service opportunities!
