Yours in Caring Service, Janiya Angoy Hey Key Club! As we inch closer to winter break, I would like you all to reflect on your amazing contributions this school year. Your support has made an immense difference in the community, and we couldn't do it without all of your help! In this newsletter, you'll get to learn more about the impacts Key Club has made in the past month, and be sure to carry your serviceoriented spirit into the New Year! November was a month full of great events for our club! We hosted the Canned Food Drive for Battle of the Classes November 14-18 which was a huge success! 422 cans were collected! Our board was also working hard to prepare for November's Key Traits Trip, after our successful first trip in October. Bloomfield hosted Division 19’s District Counsel Meeting on November 2, which was a lot of fun to meet people from surrounding towns! Lastly, on November 23, we welcomed the Senior Citizens of Bloomfield to the cafeteria for our Thanksgiving Dinner! We had a great time volunteering and welcoming this great event back to BHS. In December, the Bloomfield Police Department will be holding an annual toy drive. Key Club will be donating toys that the police dept. will deliver to residents during the Christmas season! Unwrapped toys are due December 9th to the Central Office! BLOOMFIELD POLICE DEPT. TOY DRIVE

Key Clubbers took another trip to Bloomfield's 8 elementary schools and taught 3rd grade students about kindness, empathy, tolerance, and courage. It was great to meet with our classes again, and they were very excited to see us as well! Thanks to all involved, and please know how much of a difference you've made!

THANKSGIVING DINNER RECAP Thanks to all who helped out at our Thanksgiving Dinner! We had extra help from our Bloomfield Kiwanis, our new LTG. Steven Yuro and new NJ District Governor, Jose Gonzalez. A special thanks to the orchestra and madrigals for creating a wonderful atmosphere while the seniors had their dinners. "I want to congratulate you and all of the staff and amazing students for this event. The food and attention to serving us showed the dedication that you have to service others and the community. On behalf of me, thank you for a job well done!" ~ one of our attending seniors

CANNED FOOD DRIVE FOR BOTC CONGRATS to the seniors for winning this year's Battle of the Classes Canned Food Drive. Service hours were earned for counting, sorting, and delivering the food. The 422 cans collected are going to Bloomfield’s Free Little Food Pantry located at the Bloomfield Public Library.

The District Project is a way for Key Club to make a difference towards a certain cause every year. This year, our District Project is focused on education and stopping the widening of the learning gap; our goal is to help others reach their full educational potential. So far, we have achieved this through our Key Traits 4 Kids field trips; stay tuned for future service opportunities! DISTRICT PROJECT Education is Key!

Our Advocacy Focus is a way for us to raise awareness for specific relevant issues. This year, we are focusing on various prevalent diseases in America. During September and October, we focused on Breast Cancer Awareness, and for November through January, we are focusing on Alzheimer's Disease. Being the 7th leading cause of death in the US, and a leading cause of dementia, Alzheimer's disease is a serious illness that deteriorates one's memory and other mental functions.
