Dear Key Clubbers, My name is Camila Andrade. I am currently a freshman and I am so excited to start this new service year on the executive board. Please don't hesitate to email me or text me! Anyways lets get on to this month! April has been full of roller coasters. The new Key Club board was supposed to go to Camp Mason on April 6th to April 7th to work on bonding and set up next service years calendar. Unfortunately due to the Corona Virus it ended up being cancelled. April 24 we were going to hold the annual glow in the dark volleyball which was also cancelled due to the circumstances. Hope we can all see each other very soon and I hope everyone is safe and healthy. Make sure to stay tuned on social media to see how you can earn extra hours virtually. and more events while we are quarantined. Yours in caring and service Camila Andrade

Presidents Note! GWEN AND CHARLIZE

HELLO KEY CLUBBERS, WELCOME TO THE NEW SERVICE YEAR! DESPITE THE CANCELLATIONS OF OUR DISTRICT CONVENTION AND OTHER EVENTS, WE ARE ROLLING STRAIGHT INTO THE TRANSITION FOR THE 2020-21 SERVICE YEAR. OF COURSE, WE HAVE A BRAND NEW BOARD, WITH MANY NEW NAMES AND FACES. WE ARE ALL EAGER TO GET STARTED WHEN WE GET BACK TO SCHOOL. HOWEVER, DESPITE THE LOCKDOWN, WE ARE PUTTING TOGETHER MULTIPLE DIFFERENT SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES THAT CAN BE DONE FROM HOME, SO THAT EVERYONE CAN KEEP COLLECTING HOURS AND GIVING BACK TO OUR COMMUNITY. ONE OF THESE IS AN UPCOMING PEN-PAL PROGRAM WITH SENIOR CITIZENS IN BLOOMFIELD, ORGANIZED BY STUDENTS AT THE HACKENSACK MERIDIAN SCHOOL OF MEDICINE. MANY MORE WILL BE ENT VIA REMIND OR EMAIL AS WELL, SO MAKE SURE TO KEEP CHECKING THOSE! IN THESE TROUBLING TIMES, PEOPLE NEED US MORE THAN EVER, SO WE SHOULD ALL MAKE AN EFFORT TO HELP THOSE WHO WE CAN. WE ARE VERY EXCITED FOR WHAT IS TO COME SOON AND THROUGHOUT THE NEW YEAR!Y YOURS IN CARING AND SERVICE, GWEN REOCH AND CHARLIZE CURCIO Wear red and white and show off your Arcadia Knights pride!

Advisors Note

Hello Key Clubbers! As I sit here, quarantined in my house with my husband and son, I’m

finding it very difficult to write an article about our Key Club service throughout the month of

April. Probably because we don’t really have much service to talk about since we left school

on March 13th. Our first priority over the past month and a half has been our safety and

health during this crazy Coronavirus pandemic. Trying to virtually teach while chasing around

a 16 month old has been stressful and challenging, to say the least. Not being able to see

extended family or hang out with friends has been very upsetting. I’m sure you have all had

your own difficulties trying to manage all of your online class work and help out around the

house with chores and younger siblings. We’ve all been trying to adjust to this new way of

life! Usually in this April article, I get to talk about how proud I am of our Key Club board

members and how well we did during the New Jersey Key Club District Convention in Long

Branch. Unfortunately, like everything else, our convention was cancelled this year. We did

not get to showcase our amazing service year or take part in all of the competitions we

usually do. Our senior board members did not get to have fun at their last DCON weekend and

our new board members did not get to attend workshops or social events to learn more about

what Key Club is. Missing out on one of the most important weekends of our Key Club year

has been very difficult to accept. While we wait for the results of the few competitions we did

have submissions for, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate one of our Vice

Presidents, Madison Kennedy, on winning a Key Club scholarship! We are all so proud! I

don’t know what the future holds or how long we will have to continue to practice social

distancing. But the one thing I do know is how proud I am to be a teacher and Key Club

advisor in Bloomfield, NJ. Throughout all the craziness, your Key Club board members (old

and new) have still been working on new service ideas. They are holding virtual board

meetings and discussing new ways to help our community, even if it has to be from your own

homes. Please stay tuned and continue to check our Remind messages and emails for

upcoming service opportunities so you can earn hours towards the next service year! Just

because we aren’t holding our bi-monthly general meetings doesn’t mean you guys can’t stay

informed. We are all in this together and I can’t wait to see what Key Club is capable of over

these next few weeks! Mrs. Gasparri
