Editor's Note Dear Key Clubber, This month, there are a few new things being introduced to the editorial. Among these are the member art, an LTG note, an explanation of the levels of Key Club, and a surprise on the Meet the Board Page. Shown on page 11, the President, Vice Presidents, Treasurer, Webmaster, and Editor of Key Club choose the top submission overall. Try each month for a chance to be featured. Your LTG is Alex Ryan, of our own town, Bloomfield, of Division 18. He ensures that the clubs of Division 18 run smoothly and submit dues on time, as well as collaborate on division events. His note tells his position on the importance of being an active member of Key Club. In Key Club International, there is a lot more than just our small club. We are a part of a division, in the district of New Jersey, which is another small part of the International aspect of Key Club. We have our board in our club, then for divisions there are LTGs, and the LTGs report to the District Board, who report to the International Board. In actuality, there is a lot more to Key Club than what you see at first. Read through the editorial to find the surprise on the Meet the Board page. Have fun looking for the surprises!

Yours in caring and service,

International

Jami Kelly 2017/18 BHS Key Club Editor

District Division Members make up the majority of Key Club International, but individual clubs make up the divisions, which create districts. the districts combine across the world to make Key Club International.

HEY THERE!

President's Message: Hello Key Clubbers, the board is hard at work as usual and we are going to be planning all summer long for new and upcoming events! We did our annual tradition of writing our names on the wall and we are all so happy how they came out so far! Please come out on June 10th for our car wash from 9 AM till 2 PM, you will get service hours for coming and helping out! I hope everyone has an enjoyable remainder of the 4th marking period and we all here at Key Club hope to see you next year with eagerness to gain service hours!

-Emilio Vargas

Advisor'sMessage: With my first full year as an advisor of Key Club officially over, I am filled with bittersweet emotion. I am saddened to see our seniors leave and embark on the new journeys and roads that their lives may take them. I am going to miss all of their familiar faces and knowledge as to what to do and when. They taught me the little ins and outs of Key Club, the traditions, and I will forever remember the memories we have shared together. As for this upcoming year, I am more than happy to see what new adventures this new group has to offer. I believe we have already started off on an amazing note, and am excited to see all of their planning take place. Key Club is not just a club, it soon turns all of these friends and creates a little family to lean on. I cannot wait to see the new bonds Key Club helps create as the club works together to aid our Bloomfield community.

-Ms. Testa

May 18th Banquet Key Club boards are retired every year as the upcoming year brings a new one. This year's banquet was held on May 18th and many tears fell as the old board (pictured above) was retired and awards given to members. The new board was sworn in, making Emilio Villegas your new BHS Key Club President, Julianna Cianciotta and Sienna Tyransky your new Vice Presidents, Claire LaMonica your new Secretary, Jamianne Kelly your new Editor, and Madison Kennedy your new Webmaster. James Keseling awarded the gavel to Emilio Villegas (pictured below) and he rang out the end of an old service year and the begining of a new one. This also marked the ending of the banquet's official festivities, but not the unofficial ones. Pictures and words were exchanged among families, both literal and metaphorical.

LTG Note BY ALEX RYAN DIVISON 18 LTG

In my freshman year I became Bulletin Editor of the Bloomfield Key Club. I had a great amount of fun and enjoyed serving my community. I even won 3rd place for the Club Bulletin Contest! I was active in my club throughout the entire service year, helping the Bloomfield Key Club conduct its own service and events as well as attending District functions. I know that being a Lieutenant Governor will be no easy job; it will be one which I will rely on my strong work ethic, motivation and intelligence to complete and excel at. Regardless of the dense work ahead, I very much look forward to accepting the mantle of leadership of Division 18, and I am eager to tackle the issues which face us and bring our Division to new heights! CAMP MASON

What did we do? During Camp Mason, the executive and extended board members took part in team building activities and began planning for the new service year. The team building ranged from doing exercises in small spaces, to learning patterns that require working in a group, to simply eating meals without having any food waste. It created a bond among the members that will last throughout the service year, aiding in planning projects. The board also began to plan for a service project called Key Traits for Kids that will be executed throughout the service year. It will engage students to begin preventing bullying in third grade as the students develop values such as kindness and acceptance.

tear tracks that have covered my bruises, cleaned my blood and do i need to tell you what it means to be damaged?

"bloody spelling bee" by Emily Sawaked

Member Art

do i have to spell it out to for you, one letter at a time? because i will. d for detached, desolated, destroyed, disaster, for every harsh word you spat in my direction, for every warning sign thrown up for me before i threw myself into something i'd regret. a for apathetic because you laughed every time i cried and you were deaf when i was screaming the most. m for malicious and merciless because i had always seen you as the opposite until the day you left me bleeding on your living room couch, until the day i knew you had no limits and i was subject to them. a for the azaleas you'd send to my home as a long overdue apology, scared you lose me after losing it. g for gentle and grateful which is what we both were to each other; you were grateful to have me back and i was gentle enough not to tread the water or to send you falling again into that spiral. e for everyday and every time i forgave you because i, i could never let go of you and you had shaped me so perfectly, made me into who you needed, that i had done what you wanted. d for done which is what i said i was, what i said we were, what i whispered to myself alone in my room, what i whispered to you when you were sleeping, alone in my room, and what i shouted during our arguments before you realized, we could not be done. and that is damaged, hurting and forgiving because you know no other way.
