Dear Key Clubbers, September was a fantastic start for the service year. Club fair went smoothly and many new members were interested, which means our service projects throughout the year will be even better. The last bake sale showed how many new members are interested in being active, and it can not be stressed enough how great that is. Fall has a lot more opportunities for service hours so be sure to stay tuned and stay on top of the Remind to know when you can earn hours.

Yours in caring and service,

Jamianne Kelly Bulletin Editor of Bloomfield High School Key Club

September

Dear Key Clubbers, Every year, September marks the beginning of a new and exciting service year. School is starting up again, creating opportunities for service projects and a new group of members. Our first event was the Regional Training Conference at Montville High School held on September 17th run by the New Jersey District Board. At this conference, our officers learned the many aspects of running a successful club. Our board left the school with new ideas and methods on how to improve upon our community service. On September 23rd, we held a car wash to raise money for our club. The fundraiser was successful and a great bonding experience for our board. I look forward to a fabulous service year! Yours in caring and service, Emilio Villegas

CLUB FAIR

RECRUIT MEMBERS

ADVERTISE

ANSWER QUESTIONS

Club Fair is one of the easiest ways to gain publicity for Key Club. At club fair, many new members visited the Key Club table and received a brochure. Students asked questions, which were answered by board members running the table. New members are now officially Key Club members due to Club Fair.

FALL RALLY

WHAT IS FALL RALLY?

WHAT DO WE DO?

WHAT IF I MISS IT?

Fall Rally is a District Key Club event held annually at Six Flags Great Adventure. New Jersey District divisions meet and have fun, no matter the weather.

When we get to the park, we will have a district meeting followed by the awarding of the spirit stick. Afterwards, we are allowed to have fun in the park.

There will be another Fall Rally in the Fall of 2018, also held at Six Flags Great Adventure. DCON will also be held this spring and be longer than Fall Rally.

WHAT'S NEXT AFTER FALL RALLY? DCON is a themed district event held every year at Ocean Place resort in Long Branch. This year's theme will be announced later this year. Last year's theme was space, and the jokes and puns were endless. They will certainly be at this service year's District Convention as well. There will be two dances, a free t-shirt, district board elections, and more. Fall Rally may be gone, but DCON is just beginning.

SPORTS AND KEY CLUB IS IT POSSIBLE? A lot of new members ask this question. Colleges like seeing Key Club on applications, yet sports are important to a lot of students. The answer is yes. It may take a bit more work to get the hours to be a distinguished member, but it's possible. Some of our board members are athletes as well. Julianna, your VP, plays volleyball. Daniel, your treasurer, is on the bowling team. Jamianne, your editor, is a year-round athlete. Many general members also participate in sports and balance the two well. With a little more effort, Key Club and sports make a great combination.

HOW CAN YOU DO IT? Sometimes it's hard to find a balance between school, sports, and Key Club. Yet, it is far from impossible. Many students have done it before, and more will continue to through the years. To help you get started, here are some basic tips.

PUT SCHOOL FIRST if your grades don't make the cut, sports don't matter and neither should Key Club. If you have a tournament, bring some schoolwork and work on it in the extra time you have.

WEEKENDS AND EVENINGS Many events are run on Friday nights and weekends that are easy for athletes to go to. Weekends mean you have time to get schoolwork done, so hop over to an event after practice.

BAKE SALES AND DONATIONS Bake sales are an easy hour for everyone. Stop by a store and pick up a box of cookies after practice and bring it in for the hour. Or bring in any other donations we ask for.
