The Bloomington Community Gardening Program offers rental plots and raised beds in Butler Park Community Gardens, Switchyard Park Community Gardens, and Willie Streeter Community Gardens. Recent enhancements to the Banneker Community Center makes each space multi-purpose to fit the needs of youth, families, and adults! Improvements include a projector and speakers in the gym, all-new furniture, a kitchen perfect for meetings or cooking demonstrations, and more. Schedule a visit and check out this new twist on our historic building.

Evans-Porter Memorial Library

The Banneker Community Center is proud to host the Evans-Porter Memorial Library. The library offers fiction and nonfiction books for adults, teens, and children. Recent encyclopedias and other reference materials are available to help with homework. A focus on African-American history and culture reflects the library’s location in a historically significant building and neighborhood.

Family Resource Center

Located on the third floor, this is a place where families can gather information, network with others, build a support system, and enjoy their children in a fun, safe space.
