A first-time head coach, Lowe took over the reigns of a program that enjoyed the most successful 6-year run in program history under Nicole Pluger, who was promoted to the role of Assistant Athletic Director of Compliance following the 2010 season. In her first season at the helm, Lowe improved the team's winning percentage and GPA. Urbana finished the season strong, winning 9 of their final 13 games, including a 4-3 home win over 13th ranked regional foe Indianapolis. The victory was 1 of 2 against ranked opponents in 2011. Lowe's second campaign was even more successful than the first. The Blue Knights claimed the program's first post-season championship since 2007, winning the 6-team D-II Ohio Independents' Championship. Urbana outscored its opponents 24-5 over the 4 games of the OIC Tournament. Six Blue Knights made the All-OIC squad and 4 more made the national All-Independent Teams. Urbana improved its win total by 9, finishing 24-26. The 24 wins were the most at UU in over a decade (2001). For the second consecutive season, Lowe's Blue Knights finished strong, winning 6 straight to end the campaign and 10 of the final 14. The team carried that momentum in the 2013 season, Lowe's third at the helm. Urbana opened the year with 10 straight victories. The Blue Knights reached a high-mark of 15-2 before suffering a run of setbacks against opponents that made the regional tournament at the end of the season. Still, Urbana's overall mark of 2018 was the softball program's first season above .500 since 2001. Three Blue Knights earned All-Conference honors. Junior pitcher Haley Kolmerten was named G-MAC Pitcher of the Year, and she became the school's second-ever NCAA D-II Academic All-District First Team honoree.
