HOUSING TYPOLOGY The projects welcomes an introduction to a new typology to housing studio, the Low-Rise & Urban Apartment

LOW-RISE APARTMENT The project involves devloping concepts and understanding the relationship between various residential typologies and how they impact and differentiate among the built environment. During this project, students housing typology is comprised of three unique types: one bed, two bed, and three bed units

STRING LEAF URBAN APARTMENTS Introduces the urban apartment and an incorporation of elements that can be used in order to create an urban living space. Project objective was to conduct a site analysis and identify the importance of site context and how it relates to design methodology

URBAN REDEVELOPMENT Individual groups conduct case studies on specifc architectural projects in order to assess the conditions of the current site and apply them to their design proposals. During this portion of project, each group member was instructed to find two precedents that support each of the three case studies. Partner Sumayyah Raji was tasked with Pocket Park, Linear Park & Square Park case studies; Tiffany Dockins was assigned to the Waterfront, Market, Square, & Residential/Commercial Boulevards portion of the case studies; I was tasked with conducting case studies on the Piazza, Elevated Public Space & Courts. Through the uncovering of these case studies, design interventions were created that summarizes design initiatives in relation to its precedents.

COMMUNITY EATERY The project site lies between the Charles North and Old Goucher neighborhood districts. The project’s main street arteries are: Maryland Avenue, 21st street & Morton street alleyway. The goal of the Garden Market Foods project is to provide a dynamic gathering environment for the city of Baltimore and the people of Old Goucher and Charles North Districts. Along with various food selections, Garden Market Foods offers numerous outdoor and indoor seating areas for people to utilize. In addition, the project offers a bookstore and lounging area for people to use and accomodate.

Within the area, there is an autoshop district as well as a portion of shopping areas. Nonetheless, the site area and its context contains majorily residential as well as commercial buildings that can’t be connected to the people within the built environment. Important things to note: -There is only one intersection with crosswalks from all streetscape directions. -Majority of the site and its context are parking areas for people due to disuse or no alternative usage for the space -There are many alleyways within the area -N Charles as well as St. Paul Street are main usage streets for bikes and walkability.
