A Level Programmes Birmingham Metropolitan College prides itself on offering an outstanding A-Level learning experience, with a menu of subjects to assist you in progressing to your chosen HE and career pathway. If you decide to study on the A Level programme you will be asked to choose four different subjects in the first year. You may be able to take examinations in January as well as June in your first year of study. During your second year of study your studies will consist of 3 A2 qualifications, again with options to sit exams in January and June. A full A Level consists of AS (studied in year 1) and A2 (studied in year 2). In order to progress onto 3 A2 subjects you need to pass all units of the subjects you wish to take forward. If however you have passed 2 AS subjects, you can still progress on to the A2 for these subjects, and then select an additional AS subject to study for that one year. Birmingham Metropolitan College welcomes students who wish to transfer their studies to us for their A2 year. Where awarding bodies match, you can retake units from your AS year in January to improve your results. We also provide learners with a wide range of study support sessions to assist with this process. Whilst studying in the A2 year, comprehensive support is offered for completion of UCAS application forms and research into which universities and which courses you may wish to pursue in Higher Education.
