Working together to create 3,000 apprentice jobs in the Midlands

Taking on apprentices is an excellent way for businesses to position themselves to be ready for the recovery of the markets. Employers now have access to funds of more than £10m to help them to recruit Apprentices, or to put their existing staff onto Apprenticeship programmes. The Apprenticeship programmes offer both ‘on the job’ and ‘off the job’ training and are delivered at two levels - Apprenticeship and Advanced Apprenticeships. What are the qualifications? Over the course of their Apprenticeship, Apprentices will work to achieve a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ), a Technical Certificate and Key Skills, all of which will lead to a nationally recognised Apprenticeship completion certificate. Designed by employers for employers Apprenticeships are designed to be relevant to the needs of each occupational sector. There are two different levels; Apprenticeship, enabling individuals to gain qualifications at Level 2 (which is equivalent to 5 GCSE passes at Grades A*-C) and the Advanced Apprenticeship develops skills and qualifications at Level 3 (A-Level equivalent). The most appropriate level for the person will depend on their abilities and the requirements of their job role.
