Investing in training is essential to any business but it is more important than ever in the current economic climate. Research shows that companies that don’t train are 2.5 times more likely to fail than those who do.

“Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, but they don’t always have the time or resources to find out about the support that is available to help them thrive. We’re making it quicker and easier to build the skills and expertise of people in the small business community and making small businesses the focus of a £350m support package John Denham

Support for people who are unemployed or facing redundancy

commitment &support “MET training can help you to nurture and grow your skills and reach new heights”

The Government recently announced a £158m cash boost to help reskill staff under threat of redundancy or who have been made redundant to help them move quickly back into work.

Advice to companies on funding which could be available to them

Support for employers so that when they take on people who are currently out of work and claiming benefits they will be able to access FREE support for some of their training even if the employee already has an equivalent level of qualification – to refresh their existing qualifications or achieve new qualifications.

Short term ‘pre-employment’ training to provide new skills for their workforce

Pre-job training to help people to get back into employment

4

Now more than ever, it is important that we do what we can to help people who have been recently made redundant or are worried about being unemployed. The measures will mean that many more people will have real help to find or stay in work. By increasing the advice on offer and improving access to training we will ensure that more is made of the £4.5 billion the Government already spends on skills. This will help make it more relevant to those that have been recently made or fear being made redundant. It is not the only support the Government can offer but it is an important part of it and we remain committed to always doing what we can to help people where necessary

METtraining will provide help for employers in the following ways:
