These businesses are now employing over 32,000 people and this is just the beginning of what James feels they can achieve as an organisation.

THE FIRST STOP HEALTH BUS AT THE BMHC Members of the public were welcomed on aboard the First Stop Health Bus for free advice at the British Muslim Heritage Centre (BMHC) on 20th March 2015. The Health Bus was onsite at the BMHC from 9:30am – 5:30pm and offered support and advice on stopping smoking along with Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) health checks. Other advice attendees received were on risk of heart disease, stroke, kidney disease and diabetes were assessed and people were offered personalised advice and support to lower that risk.

The workshop was held on Sunday 22nd February 2015 and presented by Eric Brough, who is an expert on the subject. During the workshop students were taught how to develop unique and practical skills in constructing and re-creating a pattern by the use of a traditional compass and ruler.

CALLIGRAPHY WORKSHOP Islamic and Arabic calligraphy has always been known for its beauty and elegance. Naskh is one of the major scripts that developed throughout centuries of Islamic history. Many texts of the holy Qur’an and Hadith have been written in Naskh because of its neatness and appeal to the eyes. The British Muslim Heritage Centre (BMHC) organised two Calligraphy workshops which were held on the 14th and 21st March 2015. The workshops were led by Master Calligrapher Abdullah Al-Anezi. In these sessions, the participants were introduced to the basic forms of letters in Naskh script. They were also given practical tutorials of how to write single letters and combine them together within words.

VENUE FOR HIRE The Marquee is an impressive, modern, purpose built structure, set amidst the stunning backdrop of the BMHC a unique Grade II* listed building, enveloped within eight acres of greenery. With the ability to accommodate banqueting for over 600 people, the option of sectioning-off the marquee into smaller segments for privacy and/or a smaller event is another feature we are able to offer. The Marquee is provisioned to cater for a variety of events all year round – 365 days of the year.
