the Dragons from 2007 to 2010. Prior to this, James made his fortune in the recruitment industry, which included the global success of his companies, Alexander Mann Group and Humana International, and he has been building and selling businesses ever since. In January of this year, James was awarded the Commander of the Order of the British Empire in the Queen's New Year’s Honours list for services to entrepreneurship and charitable services through the James Caan Foundation. This was notably a result of his role as chairman of Start-Up Loans, of which he was appointed in May 2012. This is a government initiative to support people with funding and mentoring to start up new businesses in the UK. Since its launch some three years ago, the scheme has successfully helped start over 27,000 businesses and has deployed over £140 million pounds of capital to help seed these businesses. These businesses are now employing over 32,000 people and this is just the beginning of what James feels they can achieve as an organisation.

CALLIGRAPHY WORKSHOP Islamic and Arabic calligraphy has always been known for its beauty and elegance. Naskh is one of the major scripts that developed throughout centuries of Islamic history. Many texts of the holy Qur’an and Hadith have been written in Naskh because of its neatness and appeal to the eyes. The British Muslim Heritage Centre (BMHC) organised two Calligraphy workshops which were held on the 14th and 21st March 2015. The workshops were led by Master Calligrapher Abdullah Al-Anezi. In these sessions, the participants were introduced to the basic forms of letters in Naskh script. They were also given practical tutorials of how to write single letters and combine them together within words.

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Indeed the best of remedies you have is Hijama (cupping).” In partnership with The Cupping Clinic, the British Muslim Heritage Centre (BMHC) has introduces an ancient treatment method that is part of Muslim heritage and also from the Sunnah (teachings of Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him). Over centuries, cupping, also known as Hijama in Arabic has been a means of treatment and preventing of acute and long-term health conditions. It is a simple, safe and painless procedure of applying cups to specific meridian points on the body to help release toxins. Cupping is also considered to be the fastest way to detoxify the body. It increases blood circulation, boosts the immune system, regulates the hormones and helps the body find its own natural balance. With its unique success rate, cupping is gaining rapid popularity as an alternative treatment for thousands of people including celebrities and sports personalities.
