FALL 2012
greetings from our principal
Dear Bishop Noll alumni, parents, and friends, What a wonderful year it has been at Bishop Noll Institute! In this, my fourth year as principal, I have discovered new challenges and begun new ventures to bring BNI to the next level. The 2011-2012 school year brought about many exciting successes and ended on a tremendous high note. The class of 2012 set a new standard for subsequent classes--but I’ll get to that later. Let’s start at the beginning! In September, we celebrated the dedication of the beautiful new weight room at our annual Donor Reception, with Bishop Dale J. Melczek as our special guest to bless the new facility. October brought an exciting award for the Bishop Noll Marching Warriors, who debuted in the Columbus Day parade in Chicago. The small but mighty group, joined by the cheer and dance teams, earned the award for Best Newcomer to the parade. In November, Bishop Noll students broke a record for the senior class-led food drive collection for St. Joseph’s soup kitchen in Hammond. The student body collected over 15,000 items for donation! During the second semester we enjoyed many highs with our athletic teams who had winning seasons and earned sectional titles in swimming, tennis, and baseball. Bishop Noll hosted more than 1000 guests in a spectacular Catholic Schools Week celebration with Bishop Melczek. We also completed the journalism Mac lab and with the addition of updated camera equipment and a green screen, as well as the right team of broadcasters and producers, BNI mass media brought weekly video announcements to the student body. Journalism and mass media students also enjoyed a field trip to WGN for a morning news broadcast with Robin Baumgarten and Larry Potash as well as a visit from Noll alum, WTTW’s Phil Ponce. A highlight of spring semester for me was the Nollapalooza All Alumni Revue, where I met and enjoyed performances by several amazingly talented graduates. Because the growth and excellence of our arts programs is such a focus for me, it was an absolute joy to see so many alumni bring music to life on our stage the way they did in high school. In sports and in the arts, Bishop Noll brought great talent and respect to the school’s programs this year. We also continue to be the strongest Catholic college prep school in northwest Indiana! Academically, we saw a rise in English/Language arts scores in both state ECA and SAT (critical reading) tests. This rise has been consistent for four consecutive years. We also added more college credit courses through both IU and Purdue. By the time students graduate from BNI, they will have had the opportunity to complete
a year of college through our dual credit programs, including classes in Spanish, environmental science, speech, English, and more. We added dance choreography to enhance the performing arts curriculum and plan to add two college credit courses for art and music next year. This year, we added two honor societies to celebrate students’ achievements—the French Honor Society and the Tri-M international music honor society. Another academic accomplishment was earned by Ms. Julie Niu’s Chinese students, who participated in a Chinese writing and speaking competition at Valparaiso University. One student earned the honor of first place in the Writing category. Finally, for the third year, Bishop Noll faculty members John Albert, Elizabeth Conley, and Diane Wilson travelled with a group of students to France for a language and cultural immersion experience for three weeks. Bishop Noll is truly developing global citizens! Our year closed with bittersweet graduation ceremonies for our final 8th grade class and the mighty class of 2012. With the closing of the Bishop Noll Prep Academy, we can now work toward a clearer, genuine partnership with our local feeder schools, a significant goal of our mission. We celebrated a moving Baccalaureate Mass and commencement ceremony with 107 senior graduates; of these seniors, 52% graduated with college credit, they will attend college in eight states, fifteen will play college athletics, and together they earned over $4.6 million in college scholarships. During their ceremony, the seniors celebrated their diversity, their faith, and their commitment to becoming productive, moral, prominent citizens as a result of their excellent Catholic education at Bishop Noll. Without the support of our alumni and friends, it would not be possible for students to continue our tradition of excellence! Please keep the Bishop Noll students and family in your prayers, and continue to support us in any way you can. Thank you for all you do as our greater support system. It has been a pleasure serving the students, families, alumni, faculty, and traditions of Bishop Noll Institute for four years, and I look forward to another great year of challenges, upgrades, and successes in 2012-13! With warm regards and the peace of Christ,
Colleen McCoy-Cejka, Principal and school leader for Bishop Noll Institute!

time flies
cover story

The saying “time flies when you’re having fun” couldn’t be more fitting as I complete my first year in the Advancement office at Bishop Noll Institute. Not only have I had the privilege to witness the amazing place that Bishop Noll is on a daily basis, I have had the opportunity to meet and experience the generosity of an equally amazing group of alumni and friends this past year. While the Advancement office is a very busy place throughout the year planning events, fundraising, writing grants, and promoting Bishop Noll in the community, the real rewards of this job are evident each morning as I walk into the building and feel the energy of our students (yes, at 7:30 am) as they look forward to beginning a new day at Bishop Noll. Our motto, Preparing Students Mind, Body, Soul, describes perfectly what I have witnessed this past year in the classroom, on the playing field, and through the generosity and kindness our students have shown through their service projects. I have also been blessed to have had the opportunity to watch our daughter Eileen grow and mature throughout her senior year here at Noll. Now a proud BNI alum, she is well prepared to take on the challenges of college. We bid the Class of 2012 farewell at graduation in June. With an emotional Baccalaureate Mass and graduation ceremony, a final walk around the school and final hugs goodbye, our seniors now move on to some top colleges and universities with hundreds of hours of college credit under their belt and $4.6 million in college scholarships! Just a few short weeks later, we welcomed the classes of 1975, 1976 and 1977 as they came home to BNI for a joint reunion. This time it was hugs of hello and a chance to catch up with each other over a delicious catered dinner in our recently
CHANGES IN THE ADVANCEMENT OFFICE Please welcome the newest member of the Advancement team, Ms. Mehgan Jagielski, ’08. Mehgan graduated cum laude from Calumet College of St. Joseph in May 2012 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management. She joins Bishop Noll as an Institutional Advancement Assistant. Matt Chico ’02, who has been a dedicated member of the Advancement office for the past six years will become a part-time member of our office as he devotes more time to completing his Masters in Counseling at Roosevelt University.
remodeled cafeteria. Over the course of the evening, classmates wandered the halls of the school, many for the first time since they had graduated over 35 years ago! Finding their lockers, visiting classrooms and pointing out where they ate lunch in the cafeteria every day brought memories flooding back to these nostalgic alumni. Several of the men visited the football locker room and recalled the 10-0 season in the fall of ’75. I found two ladies in the auditorium singing songs from the play Guys and Dolls that they performed back in 1975, and they knew every word to the songs! I was touched when just a few days later I was approached by a group of alumni who were impressed with the many positive changes to the school, and who want to throw their support behind future improvements to Bishop Noll! When was the last time you came back to Bishop Noll? Know that you are always welcome. Attend your next class reunion, or attend one of our sporting events and theater productions, or simply stop by for a visit the next time you are in town and see the many positive changes that have taken place since you graduated. Perhaps, like the alumni who were just here for their class reunion, you will find a way to be part of all the good that is happening here at Bishop Noll. As I finish my first year at Bishop Noll, I would like to thank all who support this amazing school! Your generosity does make a difference in the lives of our students and allows us to continue our mission of empowering young adults to live their faith in Christ through ministry, scholarship and leadership. May you and your family continue to enjoy God’s many blessings,
Mary Ellen O’Neill Director of Institutional Advancement

Bishop Noll announces chairman of 2012-13 Annual Fund Bishop Noll Institute is pleased to announce that Bishop Noll alumnus, parent and Board member Paul Mullaney ’77, has been selected to serve as chairman of the 2012-13 Annual Fund. Mullaney and his wife, Kelly, reside in Hammond and have put six children through Catholic schools. Three who are currently in college are BNI graduates, two are Noll students now, and the youngest is due to start at Noll in 2013. “I welcome the opportunity to give something back to the school that has meant so much to my own development, and has played a significant role in the growth of our children,” Mullaney said. “Kelly and I have seen firsthand how the Bishop Noll of today has played a vital role in the educational, spiritual and overall development of our own children. “I hope and pray that, for years to come, a Bishop Noll education will retain its coveted value. Through our Annual Fund efforts, the BNI family can help ensure that families of school children will be able to make this important investment an affordable option and a reality well into the future.” Commenting on his appointment as Annual Fund chair, Principal Colleen McCoy-Cejka remarked, “I cannot think of a better person to represent the Noll legacy! Paul is one of those
members of our community who bridge the gap between the traditional BNI and the 21st century BNI. As a parent and board member, he pushes for excellence and progress; as an alum he cherishes the traditions and the foundation upon which this school was built. His efforts and his genuine spirit will help make this year’s annual fund a great success!” A veteran newspaper editor, Mullaney, 53, is managing editor of The Times and nwi.com, based in Munster. He has served in a variety of posts in 23-plus years at the media company, including sports editor, business editor and managing editor for newsroom operations. He also worked for six years at The Press-Enterprise of Riverside, Calif. After his graduation from Bishop Noll in 1977, Mullaney attended the University of Notre Dame, from which he graduated in 1981. In 2011, the Notre Dame Club of Northwest Indiana recognized him for his many years of service to the community and to Catholic education. After serving on Bishop Noll’s volunteer school board from 2005 through 2011, Mullaney has rejoined the board for the 201213 school year. He also serves on the board of trustees of Lake Area United Way, chairing the marketing and communications committee. He has served as a lector, committee member and basketball coach for Our Lady of Grace Church and School in Highland; as past president, coach and tournament director of Woodmar Youth Baseball; and as past board member for the Hammond Optimist Youth Sports organization. Please join us in thanking Paul for his commitment to Bishop Noll by prayerfully considering a gift to the Annual Fund. Your continuing support allows Bishop Noll to continue to provide a high-quality education in a faith-filled nurturing environment. 3

class of 2012... ...joining a proud legacy of Bishop Noll Alumni A beautiful, warm sunny day greeted members of the Class of 2012 and their families as they gathered at the beautiful Cathedral of the Holy Angels on June 8th to celebrate the accomplishments of 107 graduating seniors at an emotional Baccalaureate Mass celebrated by Bishop Dale Melczek and concelebrated by BNI chaplain Rev. Rick Holy and Rev. Jon Plavcan. With a message to the graduating seniors from Bishop Melczek to remain true to their faith as they venture out into the world, beautiful liturgical music from students, faculty and administrators, accompanied by musicians from local parishes, the morning will remain a memorable event for all in attendance. Later in the evening, graduates and their families gathered in the Bishop Noll fieldhouse for one final goodbye. In a moving address to graduates, Principal Colleen McCoy-Cejka offered a personal sentiment to each graduate by name. Comments from
Valedictorian, Julie Fornaciari, and Co-Salutatorians Milana Golich and Peter Larson brought back many happy memories of their four years at Bishop Noll. Final words of wisdom were delivered by Rev. Daniel Scheidt ’87, who offered inspiring advice to the Class of 2012 as they begin a new life outside of Bishop Noll. Ironically, Father Dan, who is currently the pastor of Queen of Peace Parish in Mishawaka, IN, was here with us on the 25th anniversary of his own graduation from Bishop Noll Institute. After the ceremony ended, graduates and their families lingered for pictures and final hugs goodbye. This was the last time the Class of 2012 would be together at the same place at the same time, and while joyful of their accomplishments, graduates said goodbye with heavy hearts. To our graduates—wish you much success in all that you do. There is a big world out there—embrace it! There is always a home for you at Bishop Noll; come back and visit from time to time. And don’t ever forget—you are forever Warriors!

Please join us in welcoming Mrs. Marianne Galfano as Athletic Director. Mrs. Galfano brings a broad range of knowledge and experience with her to Bishop Noll. Principal Colleen McCoy-Cejka, in announcing the appointment, said "The interview process for this position was grueling with so many qualified candidates; however, the search committee and I definitely feel blessed to have found Mrs. Galfano. The A.D. position at BNI will require a depth of athletic knowledge, ability to manage people and programs, as well as business and fundraising savvy. Mrs. Galfano possesses this combination of skills." Most recently, Galfano was the assistant women’s basketball coach for two seasons at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. She was the head girls’ basketball coach at DW Daniel High School in Central, South Carolina, and was the track and field throwing coach when the team won the South Carolina state championship. She was an assistant women’s basketball coach at North Central College in Naperville, IL, and was the athletic director at St. Joseph Academy in Cleveland, OH. Galfano has also taught graphic art, photography and physical education at the high school level. Galfano played Division I basketball at Cleveland State University. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Cleveland Institute of Art, and has completed coursework towards her Master of Arts in Adult Education.

school news Bishop Noll Institute goes under the clippers for St. Baldrick’s
well deserved recognition for years of service to BNI
This year, Bishop Noll celebrated St. Patrick’s Day in style as we hosted our 3rd St. Baldrick’s Day head shaving event. Twenty-five students and three faculty members shaved their heads bald in support of and in solidarity with the more than 160,000 children that are diagnosed with cancer each year. This event helps to raise money for childhood cancer research. Along with head shaving, several young ladies donated ponytails to send to Locks of Love, an organization dedicated to making wigs for individuals who have lost their hair due to chemo and radiation therapy. With a goal of $7,500, this year’s event raised $8,440!
Ms. Lydia Skurka, Mr. Lawrence Bentley and Mrs. Nancy Quinn were recognized recently for their years of service to Catholic Education.

St. Baldrick’s picture Students gather for a photo of their “new look” after shaving their heads to raise money for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.
About the St. Baldrick’s Foundation The St. Baldrick’s Foundation makes grants to research institutions to find new cures for childhood cancer, and to find treatments to ensure a better quality of life for patients and survivors. The Foundation funds research projects conducted by established pediatric cancer experts, as well as younger professionals who will be the experts of tomorrow. Funds also enable hundreds of local institutions to participate in national pediatric cancer clinical trials, offering the best available care for every child. For more information about St. Baldrick’s, please call 1.888.899.BALD or visit www.StBaldricks.org
This past spring, the Diocese of Gary recognized three BNI teachers for their years of service to the diocese as educators. Lawrence Bentley has served as a teacher in the Diocese of Gary for 40 years. His years have been spent at Holy Angels and at Bishop Noll Institute as a history teacher and driver’s education instructor. Lydia Skurka was honored for 20 years of service. Though she holds a teaching license in history and psychology, her passion is teaching theology. Her years of teaching have been spent at Queen of Peace High School and at BNI, her alma mater. Nancy Quinn was also honored for 20 years of service to Bishop Noll Institute as the math department chair and teacher. Mrs. Quinn will be greatly missed, as we also bid her a happy retirement! Many thanks for their years of dedication and service to Catholic education go to Mr. Bentley, Ms. Skurka, and Mrs. Quinn!
innovations in education: real-life media education Since the inception of the Mass Media class in January of 2011, one of the goals has been to have weekly student news broadcasts. This past spring, it was not unusual to see students walking through the halls at any given time with a camera, a boom mic, and an inquisitive expression as they prepared the video recap of important school events that would be available for viewing each week in advisories. Mass Media students Nick Sanchez, Jon Castro, Omar Solis, and Calvin Taylor spearheaded the project by doing the writing, filming, anchoring, and video production. The skills these students developed are comparable to those who work in the biz! While on a field trip in March to WGN studios,
morning anchor Robin Baumgarten told our students that the professional news editors use Macs—the same equipment our students are learning to use for a similar purpose. While visiting WGN, BNI students also had the opportunity to get some face-time on TV participating in a trivia contest with students from Evanston public schools. Our students were the winners of the contest! The skills our students develop in Mass Media and journalism as well as the experiences they receive though field trips, visitors to their classes (like alums Caryn Rousseau, reporter for the Associated Press, and Phil Ponce of WTTW TV), and professional-quality projects are truly giving them the skills to be steps ahead of their peers in college and help them to know what to expect in the professional world!
alumni returning to the classroom Last spring long time Chicago television journalist, and Bishop Noll alumni, Phil Ponce ’67 returned to Bishop Noll to speak with students in the Mass Media class. Mr. Ponce is a Chicago television journalist who hosts Chicago Tonight, a nightly television magazine of news and culture on PBS station WTTW 11.
Dave Dolak, ’76, returned to Ms. Rosalie Schmidt’s physics class last April to speak with students about the physics of musical instruments. An accomplished musician, Dave also brought his guitar, which he himself made. Dave is a full-time faculty member in the math and science department at Columbia College Chicago where he teaches courses in geology and the physics of musical instruments. the french connection Bishop Noll continues to offer its French exchange program with St. Denis School in Loches, France. Last February, fifteen students and their teacher traveled from France to northwest Indiana, to attend school at Bishop Noll for four weeks in an English immersion program. Students had the opportunity to experience life in a high school in the United States, live with Bishop Noll families, and take in the sights around northwest Indiana and Chicago. In June, ten of our students and three faculty members traveled to the Loire Valley in France to attend St. Denis School for four weeks. While in France, our students lived with many of the students who had visited Bishop Noll earlier in the year. While at St. Denis, students attended class to learn basic French, French history and French culture. The trip allowed students to see Paris, Tours and much of the Loire Valley. St. Denis is a Catholic school with an enrollment of 600 students is located in Loches, a medieval city with a chateau in the heart of town, nestled in the Loire Valley. Students from both schools agree that their experience was the trip of a lifetime! We will be continuing this unique
program in February 2013 when students from St. Denis arrive at Bishop Noll. Over one hundred alumni and friends of Bishop Noll enjoyed a beautiful, sunny July day for the Annual BNI Golf Invitational. Held at Innsbrook Country Club in Merrillville, Indiana, this outing is the kickoff for the BNI Annual Fund, which raises money to support student programs at Bishop Noll. A buffet lunch to catch up with friends, an enjoyable day on the course, and a delicious dinner back in the clubhouse made for a great event. While out on the course, golfers had the chance to win a 2012 Volkswagen Beetle. While a few came very close, none of our golfers drove home in a new car. Monsignor Joseph Semancik gave a blessing before dinner thanking God for the generous support shown to Bishop Noll by all of the attendees. Principal Colleen McCoy-Cejka thanked everyone for supporting the school with their attendance, and gave a very positive report on the progress at Bishop Noll, including the success of our recent graduates, increased enrollment, improved curriculum and many improvements to the school. Over $12,300 was raised to support the many good things happening at BNI! emporium supporting our scholars Once again, the Bishop Noll cafeteria was transformed into a most elegant setting of blue and gold lame`, to welcome over 200 alumni and friends to the 31st annual Emporium. A committee of dedicated alumni and current parents plan for several months to host an enjoyable and very successful evening. Guests enjoyed dinner, cocktails and live entertainment while taking time to bid on many attractive items on the auction tables. Trips to Florida, the Grand Tetons and France, as well as an iScoot motorized scooter and a Ara Parsegian/Lou Holtz signed ND jersey were some of the most popular items at this year’s event. The Emporium is the school’s largest single event, and this year we raised over $58,000 to support student scholarships. The Bishop Noll scholarship fund will have a most positive impact on the lives of Bishop Noll students who, without these scholarships, would not have the opportunity to experience all that a Bishop Noll education has to offer. Mark your calendars for April 26, 2013 and join us at the 32nd Emporium. What a great opportunity to support your alma mater and to enjoy an evening catching up with classmates! Make it a mini class reunion without all the work of planning one!

several alums come home to noll to raise funds for the auditorium renovation Bishop Noll’s rich history of theatrical and musical talent came alive on Saturday, May 5th with the inaugural All-Alumni Musical Revue. Bishop Noll alumni from the past six decades were on hand to perform—many of them on the same stage they performed when in high school. Adam Gawlikowski ’60 served as Master of Ceremonies and performed for the audience as well. Other BNI alumi who took to the stage were Joe Frechette ’64, Danette Wasiuta Lashbrook ’73, Laurie Kometz Edwalds ’77, Karen Saliga Garcia ’82, Tom Fife ’82, Tina O’Drobinak ’82, Ben Likens ’85, Jama Kay Emerson ’86, Aline Saliga Zorich ’87, Adam Kazragys ’94, Amanda Martell Maul ’02, Alyce Jakubielski ’11, and current BNI student Maddy Smith’14. Those who enjoyed the show marveled at the depth of talent among our alumni, and
many expressed their hope that we continue to showcase our talented alumni with future performances, upon the completion of our auditorium renovation. Special thanks must be given to Margaret Frechette Saliga’60 and Paul Mullaney’77 for the many hours they devoted to planning this special event, and to Wally Kasprzycki ’75 and his wife Nora at the Cavalier Inn for providing a delicious reception after the concert. Proceeds from the concert went towards the auditorium renovation which is currently under renovation. This is the first renovation of the school auditorium since it opened nearly 50 years ago. We hope to host a second All-Alumni Musical Revue as part of the dedication of the renovated auditorium during the 2012-2013 academic year! Stay tuned for information!

2012 hall of honor inductees
14
On Sunday, March 4th, Bishop Noll Institute celebrated its 11th Annual Hall of Honor Induction ceremony. The Hall of Honor recognizes alumni and friends who have demonstrated outstanding service and leadership. This year’s inductee included Sister Joseph Mary Hoess CSC ’48, who was recognized as an Outstanding Alumna and Christopher Nicolini, who was recognized for Outstanding Service. Sister Joseph Mary Hoess graduated from Bishop Noll High School in 1948 and has been an educator at Holy Cross College in Dhaka, Bangladesh, where she has touched the lives of thousands of young women for 56 years. Sister Joseph Mary said she heard the call to dedicate her life to service while attending Bishop Noll. After her graduation she entered the order of the Sisters of the Holy Cross. She credits the education she received from Bishop Noll for giving her the guidance and courage to dedicate her life to the ministry of others. Christopher Nicolini was recognized for Outstanding Service for his work as a teacher, guidance counselor and coach in the Gary Diocese for the past 36 years. Nicolini worked at Andrean High School for 20 years and at Bishop Noll Institute for 16 years. alumni visit former teacher During the first weekend of June, five members of the BNI Class of 1964 held a 50-year reunion at the Indiana Dunes. They became friends on the staff of the JourNoll during their Noll days, and they have kept in touch ever since. In June they met at St. Mary's Convent in Notre Dame, Indiana, where they had a delightful visit with Sister M. Georgia Costin, CSC. Sister Georgia is now a retired Holy Cross nun who had served as the newspaper's sponsor—and their inspiring mentor—when she was on the BNI faculty. During their visit, they reminisced about Noll in the early '60s while paging through old copies of the JourNoll. Sister Georgia also told them about her later work as a historian for the Sisters of the Holy Cross, which included some years in Africa that she described as “wonderful.” They accompanied her to Mass in the impressive chapel at St. Mary's and then had lunch together in the communal dining room. They were very glad to see Sister Georgia again and to hear her tell them that she enjoys good health—all except for her “old,
creaking knees,” which force her to use a walker. From their vantage point 50 years later, they thanked her for her support while they were students for teaching them valuable lessons and for many happy memories! Attached is a group photo taken during their June 2012 visit. From left to right, standing behind Sister Georgia, are: Susan Kuh (formerly Napierala) is retired after a teaching career, including ten years in Japan and the last seven years in Germany for the U.S. Department of Defense Dependents Schools. Susan, husband Bill and daughter Amy now live near Seattle; son Brian resides on the East Coast. Mark Koslow, after graduating from Notre Dame, had a 39-year career with the electronics division of General Motors in Kokomo, Indiana as a manufacturing engineer developing semiconductor processes and working on prototype automotive products. He has been married to Susan for 43 years and has three children: Jennifer, a professor of biology at Eastern Kentucky University; Michael, a civil engineer for Albemarle County, Virginia; and Julia, who works on sustainability products for Johnson Controls in Milwaukee. Pam Hall (formerly Korak) completed her Master's as an English teacher, but changed to nursing and became a registered nurse and health care administrator. She now resides in Bloomington, Indiana (home of Indiana University). She has one son, Andy, who is a founding member of the Grammy-nominated blue grass group, The Infamous Stringdusters, and who lives with his wife Janice in music capital Nashville, Tennessee. John Cirn (formerly Crncich) has long been on the faculty of university departments of health administration. He served as a nursing home administrator, and for the last 20 years has focused on teaching courses and workshops on nursing home administration. He lives with his wife Kris, an occupational therapist, in Crete, Illinois (which is not far from Hammond); their son Jason resides in Florida. Rozann White (formerly Skozen) has practiced law over 40 years. She is a retired colonel in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General Corps and now has her own practice in estate planning with offices in Fairfax County, Virginia and in Clearwater, Florida. Roz is married to Jim, a retired colonel in the U.S. Army Signal Corps, who is still working in the communications industry. They both are pilots and live in the Tampa Bay area.

Bishop Noll Auditorium—a dream come true The renovation of our auditorium has been in the plans here at Bishop Noll for several years. The many successful theatre productions, choir and band concerts and other gatherings have taken a toll on our 50-year-old 500 seat auditorium. While a priority, the cost of the renovation meant careful planning and a great deal of fundraising. This past summer, our dreams came true! Demolition of the auditorium began in early July, and the renovation continued throughout July and August. New seating, paint, carpeting, tile, stage upgrades and handicap accessibility has transformed our auditorium into a more modern facility. Bishop Dale Melczek blessed our newly renovated auditorium on September 20th. Now, once again we will have a professional theater where our current and future students can continue to showcase their musical and dramatic talents. The Nollapalooza concert series highlighted our efforts to raise funds for the auditorium renovation, and the successful golf outing held at Briar Ridge in June raised the remaining funds needed to begin our renovation. Sincere thanks to Walsh Construction for their continued support of Bishop Noll, as well as Michael ’85 and Lori ’85 Whelan, Terry Whelan ’92 and Jason Cipowski ’92 for their support as well. Finally, a huge thank you goes out to Timothy Whelan ’60 and former parent Steve Prahovich for their dedication to this project. Both of these kind gentlemen were here every day during a very hot summer to ensure the renovation ran smoothly. Auditorium before.
Fill the House Bishop Noll Institute holds a special place in the hearts of its students, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends. Now, through our Fill The House Fund, you can make your mark at Bishop Noll Institute and leave a legacy that family, friends, and future Warriors will enjoy. In the summer of 2012, our 50-year-old auditorium underwent a major renovation. New seating, paint, carpeting, tile, stage upgrades and handicap accessibility has transformed our auditorium into a more modern facility.
