Encore Touts Anti-Ageism Mission at Anniversary Kickoff in Boca

“We are expanding our services to include an age-friendly Palm Beach County,” touted the invitation to En-

core’s 10th anniversary kickoff.

The recent event was designed to spread the word and recruit support and volunteers for Encore Palm Beach County’s mission to encourage and reward employers who hire older workers. Spreading the word worked. “I just found out about it, said Joya Marotta, who manages the venue, Acts Retirement-Life Community St. Andrews Estates. Encore and Acts have a lot in common, she said. They’re both nonprofits that believe “seniors should continue to live their purpose.”

“We have a very diverse workforce and we’re a nonprofit credit union,” said the event sponsor iThink Financial’s re-

gional sales director Jeffrey Fine. Their youngest employee is in their 30s and the oldest is 63, he added.

A show of hands showed others who attended the buffet dinner reception didn’t know a lot about Encore. The nonprofit organization founded by Rosemary Nixon encourages and rewards companies that hire older workers, and connects Boomers, i.e. people 50+, to work and volunteer opportunities.

Among those who did know were Encore board members David Lyons, Christine Catoggio and Joni Cherbo; John Imperatore who owns Seniors Helping Seniors and FAU clinical research specialist Kelley Jackson, recruit-

ing for a long-term study on aging and driving.

Board member John Dalton, who emceed, said Encore is “Rosemary’s brainchild and vision.” He called for more volunteers, ambassadors, sponsors and other needs detailed on an application sheet on each table. Among them is nominating an organization for Encore’s annual Wisdom and Experience Awards breakfast March 20: https://www.encorepbc.org/wisdom-experience/

There’s also scholarship in Rosemary’s name and March 1 is the deadline to apply: https://www.encorepbc. org/rosemary-r-nixon-scholarship/

“Continuation of a Mission to Serve Palm Beach County”: Joseph Abruzzo Sworn in for Second Term as Palm Beach County’s Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller

Palm Beach County, FL – Joseph Abruzzo began his second four-year term as Palm Beach County’s Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller by reiterating his commitment to transparency, to protecting public records and taxpayer money, and to outstanding service for the people of Palm Beach County.

Clerk Abruzzo, who was first elected as Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller in November 2020 and re-elected to his second four-year term in November 2024, thanked the voters of Palm Beach County for their trust and support. He also thanked the nearly 650 employees of the Clerk’s office for their dedication to service.

“As we celebrate 115 years of Palm Beach County history, I’m filled with gratitude on how far we’ve come and energized by the possibilities ahead,” Clerk Abruzzo said. “Together we will continue to lead with honor, respect and devotion to duty. The future is bright, and I am excited for what we will all accomplish.”

During his speech on Tuesday, Clerk Abruzzo highlighted early successes in his tenure as Clerk that laid the foundation for the office’s success in the past four years, including eliminating nondisclosure agreements, raising the office minimum wage to $15 an hour well before it was required by Florida law, instituting the first office-wide cost-of-living adjustment in nearly 20 years, and establishing the first employee ombudsman for the office.

He also highlighted some special initiatives during his first four years as Clerk, including working with state Rep. Peggy Gossett-Seidman and state Senator Tina Polsky to pass legislation that paved the way for the release of the Jef-

frey Epstein grand jury records.

“This legislation reflected a groundbreaking effort to prioritize transparency over secrecy, while adhering to the highest standards of legality and ethical governance,” Clerk Abruzzo said. “… The release of the Epstein grand jury records provided long-overdue clarity and accountability, offering a sense of partial closure to the victims and reaffirming public trust in the legal system.”

In his second term, Clerk Abruzzo will work with Palm Beach County government and judicial partners to create a Property Fraud Task Force to investigate possible cases of property fraud in Palm Beach County. Clerk Abruzzo said the task force “will be one of the cornerstones” of the next four years of his administration.

The office is also on track to earn $1 billion in investment income for the people of Palm Beach County under Clerk Abruzzo’s tenure, thanks to the work of the in-house team that manages the county’s investment portfolio.

After swearing in Clerk Abruzzo for his second term, 15th Judicial Circuit Chief Judge Glenn Kelley took a moment of personal privilege to share “how much as chief judge I’ve enjoyed working under your leadership in the Clerk’s office.”

“I don’t believe there’s been a better working relationship between the court and the Clerk’s office than there is under your leadership,” Chief Judge Kelley said. “… It’s the public that wins when that happens.”

As part of Tuesday’s ceremony, Clerk Abruzzo also reappointed his entire leadership team to their roles with the office. They are:

Shannon Ramsey-Chessman, Chief of Staff and Chief Deputy Clerk

Amy Borman, Esq., Chief Legal Officer and Chief Operating Officer of Courts and Official Records

Radcliffe Brown, Chief Operating Officer of Finance

Kathy Burstein, Chief Communications Officer

Tracy Ellison, Chief Human Resources Officer

Louis Modesti, Director – Employee Engagement and Ombudsman

Roger Trca, Inspector General Ramsey-Chessman thanked Clerk Abruzzo for his leadership as Clerk and in the community at large.

“I think I speak for everybody: We’ve never had a better Clerk that had more heart for this office,” Ramsey-Chessman said. “Your staff knows it, the public certainly knows it, and we are so incredibly proud to serve as part of your leadership team.”

To Live with Hope, Remember God’s Promises

“I see that the LORD is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me. No wonder my heart is glad, and my tongue shouts his praises! My body rests in hope.” Acts 2:2526 (NLT)

One of the major causes of hopelessness is an uncertain future. So if you want to live with hope, you must anchor your future in God’s promises to you.

When you buy an insurance policy, that policy promises to cover particular things. When certain things happen, the insurance company promises to pay for it.

Once you know what your policy covers, you don’t sweat it. You don’t worry about the big hospital bill or paying for a new car after yours is totaled,

because insurance will pay for it. You don’t worry about what’s covered in the promise.

There are 6,000 insurance promises to you from God in the Bible. Yet we worry because we don’t even know most of them! If we knew them, we wouldn’t be worried.

You don’t know how many years you’ve got left or the highs and lows you’re going to go through. But you already know one thing: You know how it ends! You know what will happen after your life on earth. You know that when you die, you’re going to heaven to be with God forever because he made it possible by resurrecting Jesus. God promises to do that for you, and God cannot lie.

When you believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and Savior of the world and follow him as Lord, then you cannot lose your salvation. You may want to let go of God’s hand, but he’s never letting go of yours.

In Acts 2:25-26, Peter quotes David and talks about the resurrection: “I see that the LORD is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me. No wonder my heart is glad, and my tongue shouts his praises! My body rests in hope” (NLT).

When you follow Jesus, you not only have God’s promises, but you also have God’s presence. When your ship is breaking apart in a storm, you can trust God’s promise to be with you.

Your body can rest because you

In Memory of President Jimmy Carter

I’m writing this piece in the shadows of the memorials and eulogies being given for President Jimmy Carter. I write this as a rabbi and a Jewish person who has spent much of his life in the study of Torah, Jewish texts and religion. And I write this out of the deepest respect for this former president who lived a life that brought honor to his family, our nation, and to God.

President Carter, we all know represented a very different type of political leader. He was not concerned with the trappings of power and certainly not motivated by material success or wealth. He understood history and realistically reflected the dangers of our times and the responsibility for the future. And so, rather than presenting himself as the leader of our nation, with rose colored glasses, he spoke the truth about the dangers we faced and the responsibility of every citizen to confront the dangers.

He was humble, the most valued of all human characteristics. He was a scientist and a man of deep spirit and faith. He was a deeply religious Baptist but respected all people. He was a man of great vision. He valued hard work and committed his life to that well into his nineties. He worked for the liberation and freedom of all people. He believed in his heart and reflected in his efforts that there can be peace in this world.

We know the Camp David Accords, which brought peace between Egypt and Israel was, to a large extent, a reflection of his determination and the persuasion that can be brought by an authentic moral force. That peace remains alive until this very day over fifty years later. And notably he also worked to help insure free elections throughout the world.

I write this because I believe that

hope in the surest thing there is in this world and the next: God’s Word and his promise to save you, keep you, and be with you.PLAY today’s audio teaching from Pastor Rick >>

Talk It Over

Why is it important to memorize and not just read God’s promises?

When the storms of life hit, does it bring you comfort to remember that God is with you? Why do you think you still worry sometimes?

How has clinging to God’s promises and his presence carried you through a storm in the past?

The post To Live with Hope, Remember God’s Promises appeared first on Pastor Rick’s Daily Hope.

President Carter represented many ideals and worked for humanity in a way that is becoming too rare amongst leadership in our current world. He was honest and valued the truth. He had empathy for human suffering. He was a warrior for peace. And much of what I admire about him was in the pure religious devotion he had to improving the lives of all human beings, to protecting our environment for future generations, and in influencing people to exercise restraint in consumerism.

He was not triumphant about his faith or nationalism but rather saw humanity with eyes that reflected every one of us is part of something much larger than ourselves and each of us has responsibility for the greater good.

May President Carter rest in peace and may his memory be a blessing for all of us.

Rotary Global Grant Provides State-of-the-Art Surgical Video Tower to Brazilian Hospital

Boca Raton, FL – The Rotary Club of Itajaí-Porta do Vale, in collaboration with regional clubs (Itajaí, Itajaí-Norte, Balneário Camboriú, Balneário Camboriú-Praia do Atlântico, Camboriú, Itapema, and Porto Belo-Costa Esmeralda), international partners – Rotary Club of The Palisades (District 7490, USA), Districts 4795 (Uruguay), District 6930 (USA) – Governor Douglas Heizer, and 4652 (Brazil), The Rotary Foundation, and with the support of Tokio Marine Insurance and Procave Real Estate Investments, has made a historic donation to the Marieta Konder Bornhausen Hospital and Maternity in Itajaí, Santa Catarina.

The donation – a state-of-the-art Surgical Video Tower for the Surgical Center – represents a significant advancement in patient care and surgical technology.

This acquisition, made possible through a Global Grant Project (GG2455603) and tireless collective efforts, aims to modernize surgical procedures and enhance patient care at the institution. The fundraising of $92,650 USD – nearly half a million reais – was achieved through the collaboration of nine Rotary Clubs, three Rotary International districts, The Rotary Foundation, and two private companies.

According to Rotarian José Alberto Noldin, a member of the Rotary Club of Itajaí-Porta do Vale and project coordinator, “The previous equipment at Marieta was already obsolete, which put patient care at risk if any part required maintenance, as replacements were unavailable. The new technology will provide greater safety and efficiency in surgical procedures, ensuring more humane and effective treatment for all.”

The Marieta Konder Bornhausen Hospital and Maternity is a regional reference in emergency care, offering me-

dium and high-complexity services to over 800,000 inhabitants, with 93% of patients served through SUS (the Brazilian public health system: It means it’s free of charge). As a philanthropic institution, the hospital plays an essential role in Itajaí and 11 surrounding municipalities, performing an average of 800 surgeries per month. The new Surgical Video Tower will be utilized across various specialties, including general surgery, urology, digestive surgery, neurosurgery, orthopedics, and otorhinolaryngology, directly benefiting thousands of patients.

The community served by the hospital stands to benefit significantly, as video-assisted surgeries are less invasive, resulting in shorter hospital stays and enabling the treatment of more patients. “Patients will experience shorter hospital stays and faster recoveries, allowing them to return to their daily lives more quickly,” emphasized the hospital’s General Director, Sister Simone Santana.

Rotarian lawyer and President of the Madre Teresa Association, Maurício José Gom, underscored the importance of this achievement: “Our commitment is to continually seek improvements for

Marieta Hospital and the patients it serves. This project showcases the collective power of Rotary to make a difference, and it is inspiring to see our efforts positively impact our communities.”

The official handover of the equipment took place on September 26, 2024, in the auditorium of Marieta Hospital. The ceremony was attended by the 2024-2025 Governor of Rotary International District 4652, Cioney Giovanni Giovanella, representatives of the Rotary Clubs, partner companies –Procave and Tokio Marine, the Madre Teresa Association, hospital management, and Rotary leaders and authorities from the region.

The event was marked by emotion and celebration as participants recognized another milestone in Rotary’s mission to transform lives through commitment and solidarity. The new equipment began operation in the hospital’s Surgical Center shortly after its delivery.

Financial Planning: A Great Career Option for Remote Work

(StatePoint) If you’re like most workers today, you see remote work as a major perk. In fact, a Buffer study finds that 98% of all workers have expressed the desire to work remotely, at least part of the time.

Fortunately, high-earning potential and the flexibility to work anywhere often go hand-in-hand for those on the path to becoming a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional.

Here’s why, and what it means for you:

An in-demand field: The Bureau of Labor and Statistics predicts that demand for financial planners will increase at a rate of 13% through 2032, meaning financial planners enjoy job security and plentiful career opportunities at firms of many types and sizes. And CFP® certification only makes your job more secure — 86% of consumers prefer an advisor who has completed a rigorous education program and passed a certification exam.

Broad parameters: CFP® professionals work in a variety of settings. Many CFP® professionals start their own business — acting as their own boss, deciding on their pay structure and working wherever they wish. Some

financial firms that hire CFP® professionals also have remote options. Holistic financial planning advice can be delivered in person or virtually, allowing for a great deal of location flexibility.

Scheduling flexibility: Where you work is just one piece of the equation. What about when you work? It’s not uncommon to have a lot of schedule flexibility as a financial planner, especially if you lead your own practice. You can design a work week that aligns with your personal life, family needs and outside pursuits.

Job satisfaction: Financial planning is a helping profession. Financial planners help their clients achieve financial goals, navigate life’s challenges and even help close wealth gaps. Many

CFP® professionals also serve those in need through pro bono financial planning. In addition, the flexibility of financial planning makes this one career path that provides plenty of job satisfaction. In fact, 89% of CFP® professionals are satisfied with their decision to pursue certification.

To learn more about career options with a CFP® certification, visit https:// www.cfp.net.

As you embark on a financial planning career, be sure to secure credentials that will not only increase your earning potential and drive your career forward but also expand your opportunities so that you can work where and when you want.

Adopt-A-Family’s

40th Annual Event Shatters Goal and Raises $1.2 Million

Palm Beach, FL – Adopt-A-Family of the Palm Beaches, Inc. has been compassionately and intentionally caring for area residents at risk of or experiencing homelessness for decades. By continuing the tradition of its cherished annual Tree Lighting Celebration, the organization raises much-needed funds to help provide Palm Beach County residents with critical pathways to success.

On December 3, Adopt-A-Family hosted its 40th Anniversary Tree Lighting Celebration, its most successful event to date, raising $1.2 million for the life-changing programs and services that work to reduce homelessness and help break generational cycles of poverty.

“The generosity of our dedicated and loyal supporters means everything to our organization, our staff, and the families we serve annually,” shared Adopt-A-Family CEO Matt Constantine. “Watching this tradition thrive and noting the vital work that continues to benefit our clients due to its growing success is an honor that always stays with me.”

Board member Nancy J. Kyle chaired the landmark event, joined by past chairs of the 10th, 20th, and 30th Tree Lighting Anniversary Celebrations: Paula Michel, Alice Tarone,

and Beth Hennessy. As 2024 Honorary Chairs, each woman’s impact and legacy were celebrated. “Our successful evening was the culmination of months of planning and hard work by our Tree Lighting committee & donors. We are all grateful to have the opportunity to support and celebrate AAF in its ongoing efforts to transform lives,” shared event chair Nancy J. Kyle.

The Adopt-A-Family Angel Tree began in 1985 to commemorate the community of “angels” who support the organization.

Recognized as an annual serenade to the season’s joys while firmly focused on its mission, this year’s magical evening began with The Kings Academy choir singing holiday classics as guests arrived and entered the private club. Inside the winter wonderland, guests bid on exclusive silent auction items. The live auction, wine pull, and highly anticipated orchid auction added to the excitement. Later, attendees were touched by a client who shared a powerful testimonial about her family’s journey with Adopt-A-Family services and housing.

Constantine concluded the heartwarming event by highlighting its far-reaching impact. “While the 40th Annual Tree Lighting Celebration has showcased our past achievements, tonight’s funds catalyze our future endeavors. We are grateful,” said Constantine.

Prompt, friendly service that customers deserve: Speak to a friendly tech expert within 5 minutes or schedule a callback at a time that you choose.4 Plus, same or next day technician availability so we can get customers help fast for their fiber.5 And if we can’t make that happen, we’ll make sure we get back to our customers as soon as possible with options to help make it right.

From offering faster solutions and enhancing the digital experience, to meeting customers on their terms and using GenAI for an expert touch, we’re committed to raising the bar in the industry. This isn’t about maintaining the status quo; it’s about redefining it.”

“With the customer as our compass, this bold initiative embodies the very essence of our company’s Purpose,” said Kellyn Kenny, Chief Growth & Marketing Officer at AT&T. “Customers tell us they want confidence in their service provider and offering a guarantee makes them four times more likely to choose a brand that offers one. It’s about being transparent, taking action and ensuring our customers know they are supported. We’re committed to delivering on our promises. We are walking the walk and talking the talk – and this is just the beginning.”

Boca Raton, FL – The Wick Theatre is thrilled to announce that Priscilla Presley will be in Boca Raton for two special events sharing memories and insights into her relationship with the legendary entertainer Elvis Presley. This extraordinary experience will provide audiences with a rare opportunity to hear first-hand stories about Priscilla’s life with one of the most beloved music icons of all time. An Intimate Evening with Priscilla Presley will take place February 22, 2025, with 2 pm and 7:30 pm performances. “Don’t miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to hear Priscilla speak firsthand, and relive the magic, memories, and reality of what it was truly like to live alongside the King of Rock and Roll.” said Marilynn Wick, Managing Executive Producer. “During these events, Priscilla will reflect on her special relationship with Elvis, her years living at Graceland, her dedication to preserving his legacy, and the journey she took to develop her own successful career in films and television. Priscilla Presley is a truly remarkable woman, and we are honored to host this outstanding program.”

The now iconic couple first met when Elvis was stationed in Germany. Priscilla was just fourteen, yet the singer was immediately drawn to her. Their extraordinary connection deepened and endured, even after their divorce, lasting until his tragic passing at the age of forty-two in 1977.

During this event, Priscilla shares rare glimpses into their private world. As a devoted wife and mother to their

daughter, Lisa Marie, she navigated the complexities of life with one of the most idolized stars of all time. From the exhilaration of shared triumphs to the challenges of constant scrutiny and the presence of other women in Elvis’s life, Priscilla offers a raw and honest account of her experience.

Audiences will be mesmerized by personal home movies capturing intimate moments at Graceland, on vacation, and with their beloved daughter. But Priscilla’s story extends beyond the glamorous facade. She delves into the darker side of fame, its toll on Elvis, and the profound grief that followed his untimely death.

Priscilla’s story, however, is also one of growth and triumph as she has played an instrumental role in preserving Elvis’s legacy and transforming the Presley Estate from a burgeoning entity into a phenomenally successful organization consisting of the Graceland Mansion, a worldwide licensing program, merchandising and more, all while forging her own career as an actress in films and on the landmark television series Dallas.
