WeekendRanch.com Puts the Wild Back in Western Adventures and Ranch Stays

W

WeekendRanch.com offers guests the opportunity to build and experience their own Ranch and Western Adventures. Their goal is GeoTourism … tourism that sustains and enhances the distinctive geographical character of a place—its environment, heritage, aesthetics, culture, and the well-being of its residents. Sonja Howle, who leads the team of Experience Curators, grew up on a farm and ranch and understands the role of stewardship and conservation as well as the power of sharing cultural experiences through a heritage host. Howle says, “Not everyone has access to the remarkable world of The West or understands real, rural cultures. We’ve created a bridge between rural and urban … this weekend’s ranch guest could become an ambassador for protecting resources, influence laws and may even become involved in ranching or agriculture themselves.” At the same time, Weekend Ranch’s Host Ranches have the opportunity to share their passion for what they do, and make additional revenue from unused lodging on the ranch, or benefit from the guest actually working alongside them. WeekendRanch.com has rounded up these experiences for their Launch: Backstage Bull Riding with the Lester Meier Rodeo Company, Santa Fe Silver, Saddle and Stars Ranch Stays, Star in Your Own Western (Texas, New Mexico and Colorado Locations), Big Bend Area Birding and Star Gazing at a West Texas Heritage Ranch, Ranch and Rodeo Round-Up in Central Wyoming, and, Fredericksburg Art and Culinary Workshops. The Weekend Ranch’s debut event was Saturday, May 4th, 2019 – a Field to Chef’s Table Tour and Feast that featured The Broken Arrow Ranch’s Quail, Cabrito and Red Deer masterfully prepared by Naylene Dillingham, a member of the prestigious Les Dames d’Escoffier and chef at Mac & Ernie’s in Tarpley. A tour of Broken Arrow’s Quail Farm preceded the lunch. Weekend Ranch continues to interview host ranches and build destinations and experiences throughout the West. Love & Investments

M

article courtesy of Chris Osmond, Prime Capital Investment Advisors.

My wife and daughter are the loves of my life, and as I think about other passions outside of my family, there are none greater than my career – investments - and relationships are investments. On the surface, one may be unable to see the correlation or similarities, but if you evaluate the key elements, you will find they overlap in many ways. Sometimes we don’t know ourselves, which is why the advice of a “matchmaker” aka investment professional is vital. Once you’ve found your match, you now have to build trust to foster a strong relationship.

TRUST: The bedrock of any relationship is trust, and the same premise

should be applied to investments, because clients entrust their capital to investment professionals. Many advisors study and work hard to perfect their craft, but it is a combination of real-life, on-the-job-experience combined with practical knowledge that allows us to make optimal decisions and build trust. As an investment manager, I have to trust my analysis and thesis, and remove bias and emotion from the decision-making process. But advisors are still human, and while removing emotion is easy in theory, it is often harder to practice, especially when the market is acting irrational. Conviction to our process and trust in our analysis is necessary to avoid giving into emotions, overreacting and panic selling. Take a step back, relax, and ask yourself: what has changed?

• Do you clearly understand what you have invested in and how you’re invested? Barring a structural or sustainable change, it is imperative to block out short-term noise and focus on the long-term. Do I agree with a key assumption in Modern Portfolio Theory that investors are rational? In the short-term no, but over the long-term I believe investors as a whole revert to the mean, and migrate closer to rational. Many studies show that overreacting to the short-term market volatility and sell-offs typically has negative long-term results, relative to keeping your long-term goals. We all desire a degree of certainty and want to feel secure with our investments and advisors. Sometimes we want to take a gamble, but in the end, we want the comfort of feeling that our commitment to this relationship is beneficial.

LEARN FROM MISTAKES: Continuously doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome by definition is insanity. I wish I could say as an investment professional that I never made a mistake, but frankly, that’s not the case. It is the past mistakes I have made that catapulted my career to where it is today and allow me to refine my process, approach and decision making. It is important when we invest that we trust the processes and stay committed to the COMMUNICATE: Open and honest dialog should be a part of long-term. Experience helps surmount obstacles - seek the advice of an experienced professional when making any type of investment, and every healthy relationship. It is important to connect not just verbally, Happy Mother’s Day to everyone. BBM but to ensure everyone’s needs and expectations are met. To build a strong relationship, it is paramount to ask questions and build a basic knowledge base. The Workout Experience Reimagined by Lauren Stumberg | photos by Ron Pritchett “Life is too short to not do what you love,” said Millie Reinhart when referring to her husband Luke’s decision to open the brand new Core Athletic Club in Boerne. “Luke actually went to school to be a lawyer, but his passion for fitness and his desire to create the type of luxury, family-owned health club the Boerne area was missing was really where his heart was,” she added. “I had been flirting with the idea of opening a gym for years,” said Luke Reinhart, “I looked for the right local gym, constantly switching from one to another, but just never really found the right fit.” Luke was looking for a health club that was more in-line with something you would find in a big city. “The luxury health club option was missing in our area,” Luke added. According to Millie, “We visited so many gyms when developing

our idea for Core. Every time we would travel to a new city we would go to numerous facilities and gather ideas.” Gleaning from the best athletic clubs far and wide, the Reinharts developed Core Athletic Club. “We really wanted to give Boerne a gym that had everything that was important to us – luxurious locker rooms, childcare, fabulous group classes, top-of-the-line equipment and a community space,” added Luke. Something else unique to Core is that Luke and Millie gathered the best-ofthe-best to help them make their dream a reality. On board at Core are Katie Perry, Group Fitness Director, Karl Pease, Personal Training Director and Darcee Gilbert, Sales Manager. Katie owned her own local fitness studio B Well Health and Fitness, which has now been absorbed into Core. Karl is a well-known personal trainer from one of San Antonio’s most popular gyms and

pictured (left to right): Theisson Brooks, Weekend Manager/Personal Trainer; Katie Perry, Group Fitness Director; Luke and Millie Reinhart, owners of Core Athletic Club; and Karl Pease, Personal Training Director Darcee was the fitness manager at one of the local country clubs. “Our team really brings a lot of experience from a variety of fitness clubs and studios. All of their knowledge and skill is really a great asset to our clients at Core,” added Luke. Core not only has the best to offer when it comes to trainers and instructors, their equipment is state-of-the-art as well. You will find a full line of strength equipment and free weights, as well as a wide variety of cardio equipment. The fitness floor is well equipped and well spaced. There are two separate cardio sections that feature brand new equipment with 16” touchscreen displays, private TV, WIFI, etc. “Here at Core we wanted to get the absolute best in everything from our cardio equipment to the dumbbells. We offer the Matrix line of equipment which is top-of-the-line and not

offered anywhere else in the Boerne area,” said Luke. Core’s two studios for group fitness are ideal for classes like spin, yoga, barre, Pilates, dance, interval training, and much more. In addition to their instructor-led classes, both studios are equipped with Wellbeats virtual fitness classes. Katie Perry, Core’s Group Fitness Director, has over eight years of experience in the fitness industry with certifications in personal training, group fitness, Pilates mat, Pilates reformer, yoga, barre and spin. “I have a strong passion for helping my clients achieve healthy lifestyles and am excited to join the team at Core and bring the same first-class fitness programs that the Boerne community became accustomed to at B Well,” said Perry. continued on page 18

Personal Training and Coaching is also available at Core. Lead by Karl Pease, the personal training staff has over 15 years of training experience with qualifications including NASM, Precision Nutrition Group Fitness and many more. Pease was labeled Top Fitness Professional in the Area in 2013. Individual programs are offered with everything from oneon-one personal training, to partner and small group training and nutritional counseling and even meal planning. As far as the facility itself, Core Athletic Club’s elegant finish out more closely resembles a five star hotel than a fitness facility. According to Luke, “We really wanted to provide our members a home away from home.” The luxurious men’s and women’s locker rooms feature steam rooms, spacious private showers, changing rooms, premium lockers with electric keyless locks, and towel service. “We keep our locker rooms fully stocked with everything you need to get ready, from blow dryers and curling irons to conditioner, body lotion, razors, deodorant and so much more. Our team goes the extra mile to keep our Club looking clean and smelling fresh every day without exception. We provide in-

house janitorial services, overnight cleaning crews, and we even partnered with Dis-In-Fx to ensure our members stay healthy and happy,” said Millie. Wanting to provide their members with a community space, Core’s incredible full-size bar and lounge area is perfect for members to enjoy complimentary coffee, reward themselves with a post-workout smoothie or indulge with a glass of beer, wine or champagne. “Because Boerne is such a family oriented community, and with a small child of our own and another one on the way, we knew how important it was important to provide our members with childcare. Our members can enjoy a worry-free workout as their kids are taken care of in on of two spaces designated for the kiddos. We offer childcare for infants and younger children, while the older kids can enjoy our game room and lounge area with ping pong, TV, video games and more,” said Reinhart. The team at Core wanted their members to be able exercise and play in a space designed to inspire. That means $50,000 total was awarded to graduating seniors in support of their higher education! Three seniors from Boerne and one senior from Waelder are the recipients of The GVTC Foundation’s 2019 scholarships. Shelby Curry, from Boerne High School, was awarded the Ritchie T. Daniel Gormley, from Boerne Champion High School, and Honesty Fields, from Waelder High School, both received Vocational/Technical scholarships up to $5,000 each. With the help of New Braunfels Area Community Foundation (NBACF), these four deserving seniors were chosen from a vast pool of applicants. Shelby demonstrated her strong leadership skills through her roles as Kendall County 4-H Council President, Teen Horsemanship Mentor, and multiple officer positions during her 10 years in the Kendall County 4-H Club. She plans to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture Economics from Texas A&M University in addition to running for student government and their debate team. After she completes her undergraduate degree, her goal is to gain admission into Baylor Law School where she hopes to be an advocate for the agriculture industry. Hunter displayed volunteerism through his extensive work in the foster care system promoting the “Day 1 Bag” program that provides backpacks to foster children, his role as Life Teen Leader at his church’s youth programs, and his
