When you think of some of the most influential and or talked about breeding pieces in the last number of years in the Simmental breed, there is a good chance they either work here or were produced here. Tycoon, El Dorado, Sage, Southside, Landmark are all examples of that and have helped shape the Deeg Simmentals 2025 sale highlighting their 22md annual event. On behalf of the Deeg family and our BMS team, we wish to welcome you to this exciting set of Simmental genetics.

The 2025 sale bulls are truly as deep in quality as they are rich in pedigree. The first sons out of the $110,000 home raised El Dorado have certainly met and exceeded expectations by all that have used him and your chance to not only get his influence but 2 full brothers to him will be available sale day.

The black bulls are highlighted by a special set of Heavy Hitter sons by the legendary Sage 506C and a great set of calving ease sons off newly acquired W2 Southside. These bulls are truly exciting and are just an example of a very deep pen of black bulls with many white faced, calving ease and performance options.

FALL 2024 CSA BREED AVERAGES

As always, the Deeg program has a huge emphasis on the Simmental mother cow. They breed for strong feet and udders with no exceptions and feel it shows in these bulls as they are all tanks, easy doing, good looking fellas that are sound in their structure with tonnes of shape and style.

We encourage you to reach out to the Deeg family anytime to discuss the bulls and hope you can make time to get over and tour their bull pen anytime prior to sale day. Be sure to mark the March 6th sale date on your calendar to join us on the farm near Strathmore for a big time set of bulls, a memorable lunch and some great friendship and hospitality. Our BMS phones are available to take calls for any questions or assistance you need at anytime so please feel free to call us anytime. We hope to see you sale day.

Best regards,

WELCOME FROM THE DEEG FAMILY

2024 was an exciting year! We calved out a few more cows, had a great bull sale, and ramped up the ET program some more. The spring and summer started out great with some much needed moisture and the warmth into fall meant a steady harvest. Calves weaned off heavier in the fall than the last few years and we were able to leave cows out grazing till December. The fall female sales were the strongest ever and we were thankful to sell females into some of the top herds in the prairies! Mixed in with all this we were sure thankful to be able to add in a little family time! The optimism and excitement in this industry is infectious and we are blessed to be a part of it!

The kids are busier than ever with Brynn (9) and Allie (5) keeping us running as they are having an incredible winter playing ringette. Allie even has Jordan on the bench this year! Dane (11) is continuing to curl this winter and getting better every week. Dane will soon be doing the tours here as he knows these cows as good if not better than the rest of us. Their passion for agriculture blows us away as they are always talking about what they want to do when they are older and making big plans for this place in the future! They all participated in the National Simmental Show this past summer in Olds. They learned a lot, had tons of fun and made many new friends. They now have steers to work on and that is a learning

experience for us all, and they are patiently waiting to pick out new summer projects. We are loving how hands on the kids are and getting more involved in the day to day around here.

The line up in this year’s pen is an exciting one for us. The Heavy Hitter x Sage flushmates have been fun to watch develop. El Dorado has surely left his stamp on his sons as they are correct from the ground up. The Landmark sons are younger as a group but the strength of them is high. We are excited to be offering our first set of Southside bulls in this group as a solid calving ease option in both red and black formats. The halfblood program is the largest yet and the quality of them is at the highest level it has ever been!

Feet, udders, and disposition are always high on the priority list with no exceptions made. We work closely with multiple feed/ supplement suppliers for the bullpen and the cow herd to analyze feed samples and formulate a ration that consists of cut hay, barley silage, flaked barley, minerals, rumensin, and probiotics. We feel this year has been a huge success in terms of getting the bulls to show their genetic potential without compromising soundness and longevity. Dr. Waylon Wise & team of CCHMS continues to be our long time vet for our overall herd health.

We want to thank everyone that has

expressed an interest in our program and all the bidders and buyers. Your support means so much to us. We stand behind our product and are happy to show them to you at any time if you can not make it on sale day. As always, you can call us or any one of the Bohrson team for appraisal as well. Once again this year a video sale format will take place in our sale barn with DLMS being present for online viewing and bidding. Videos will be posted to Cattlevids. ca in mid February as well. We look forward to welcoming everyone at the farm or online on March 6th.

Cow/Calf Health and Management Solutions (CCHMS) works together with Deeg Simmental to manage their entire herd through an integrated and comprehensive health, nutrition and production management program. Detailed data is collected on each individual animal at all key health and production points and is kept in a secure web-enabled database called Herdtrax®. We continually monitor and audit this data and use this information to improve the health, welfare, performance and efficiency of the entire operation.

Disease Prevention

Deeg Simmental follows a detailed vaccination program to help ensure that the cattle stay healthy and continue to thrive after they’re delivered.

Calves are vaccinated within the first 10 days of life:

• IBR/PI3/BRSV (MLV) – Inforce 3® (intransal)

Calves are vaccinated in the spring prior to pasture turnout with the following:

• IBR/PI3/BRSV (MLV) – Inforce 3® (intransal)

• BVD (MLV) and Mannhaemia hemolytica – One Shot® BVD

• 7 way Clostridial and HIstophilus Somnus – Ultrabac® 7/ Somnubac®

Calves are vaccinated at weaning with the following:

• IBR/PI3/BRSV/BVD (MLV) and Mannhaemia – Bovi-Shield® GOLD One Shot®

• 7 way Clostridial and HIstophilus Somnus – Ultrabac® 7/ Somnubac®

• Parasite Control – Safe-Guard® initially, followed by Ivermectin in fall.

Replacement heifers are vaccinated pre-breeding:

• IBR/PI3/BRSV/BVD (MLV) – Bovi-Shield® GOLD FP®5 (Fetal Protection)

Cows, bred heifers, bulls are annually vaccinated post-breeding:

• IBR/PI3/BRSV/BVD (Killed) – CattleMaster® GOLD FP®5 (Fetal Protection)

Bulls prior to the sale have been vaccinated and treated with the following:

• Fusobacterium Necrophorum – Fusoguard™ (footrot and liver abscess vaccine)

• Two doses given twice 60 days apart

• Lice Control – Permethrin

Bulls prior to the delivery will be boostered, and ready for turnout:

• IBR/PI3/BRSV/BVD – Bovi-Shield® GOLD FP®5

Breeding Soundness Examination

Each bull has passed an extensive Bull Soundness Examination which includes soundness of structure, palpation of testis and internal sex glands, scrotal circumference, examination of the penis as well as verifying sufficient sperm motility and morphology. Bulls that are considered to be Satisfactory if they have already passed the above criteria at sale time. [Those bulls that are deemed as “Decision Deferred” are either prepubertal or stressed and are showing sufficient signs of improvement and likely will be satisfactory as soon as the days get longer and the grass get greener. There is considerable selection pressure placed on young bulls and 30% of all bulls will fail to produce an adequate sample at 12 mo., 15% at 14 mo., 5% at 16 mo. None of the decision deferred bulls will be delivered until they prove to be satisfactory breeder]

CCHMS is proud to work with Deeg Simmental and if there are any questions please contact me and I can always find the time to talk about cows, bulls and the Canadian cattle industry.

Congrats on another outstanding pen of bulls! Dr. Waylon Wise BSc. Ag, DVM

DEEG EL DORADO 81K
SVS TYCOON 841F

• These El Dorado bulls are hard to find a hole in. They are heavy muscled, excellent footed, and structurally correct

• Highly maternal package combining the Sage and Sofie cow families!

• Deeg Ms Sage 105G cranks it out on this flush with three full sibs in the sale and 3 full sib females in the replacement pen

• This proud individual packs a punch! Impressive in muscle shape and dimension and strides out on a big square hoof

• Deeg Ms Sage 105G has had two fresh flushes here and both times has bred back to remain calving in January and has never gone a summer dry. She is in unreal condition and never has an off day

• Her first flush resulted in the five full Tycoon brothers highlighting the 2023 sale edition and a highlight being Deeg Recoil walking at Maxwell Simmentals

• The heavy weight of the pen! Weaning off at 1,040 lbs on September 10th he hasn’t stopped since then and is well over 1,600 lbs now

• He is soggy made, loose hided, free moving and huge topped

• Deeg Ms Sage 105G’s first effort sold in our 2022 sale as a heifer bull and we have one of his sons as another high caliber calving ease prospect
