Welcome to the Sliding Hills and Mission Ridge Bull Sale. What an outstanding time to be in the cattle business. We have had a record setting fall market prices on our steer and heifer calves. Never before have I looked at my fall cheque and have been so happy, all my calves are off a great bull I bought 4 years ago from the Sliding Hills gang. His body condition has stayed great, his feet are amazing and he is very quiet, the calves come easy, hairy and grow fast... he has surpassed my expectations!! The bull sale season has started and seems to be strong just like the last few years. It is pretty heart warming listening to farmers and ranchers so happy about last years outcome.
Both Sliding Hills and Mission Ridge are pretty much maintaining their management practices. No use in messing with something thats not broken. Once again a practice that you will see again is the ultrasound data that they include into their catalogue to help you and other producers choose the right bull for your program. This is an added cost to both of these producers that you don’t see in many other catalogues. If your not sure how to read these numbers ask either the Wienbenders or the Hordos family. With the big heavy calves, bringing the big heavy pay cheques some farmers and ranchers have been buying only where these ultrasound numbers are available.

Grace’s Blanket Auction
Grace, who turned 3 in January, has had a wonderful year full of milestone moments at Hope’s Home. Born with Klippel-Feil Syndrome type 4, Grace has faced her share of challenges but continues to defy expectations, showing incredible strength and bravery every day. Over the past year, Grace has created many special memories, including riding the Ferris wheel and carousel at the exhibition, seeing cattle for the first time at Agribition, and spending two nights at the farm over Christmas with family, where she even enjoyed the outdoor rink. We are incredibly grateful that Grace’s health has remained stable, and we cherish the joy she brings to our family. Hope’s Home has become an essential part of our lives, offering the critical medical care Grace needs. We are forever grateful for the opportunities they have given our family.

We would like to welcome everyone to the 19th annual Sliding Hills Charolais and Mission Ridge Herefords Bull Sale. We would like to thank our past buyers and bidders of our previous sales. We enjoy hearing from everyone year after year. We strive to breed these bulls the very best we can for your success and satisfaction!
We are proud to present to everyone our 2025 bull sale offering. These calves are backed by carefully selected breeding decisions to bring our cowherd to where it is today. Mother cows with structure and soundness, adequate milk and udder composition, and fertility have been traits we have worked with to improve our females year after year. We have been working to tighten up our calving season, moving to a 70-day breeding period. This has allowed us to retain the females with the highest fertility moving forward.
The bull calves were on the cows grazing until mid September before they were weaned. After weaning the bull calves were brought together and have been managed as one group near the yard. They have been developed on a high fibre, soy based pellet and whole oats with free choice grass/alfalfa hay and a complementary mineral program. The bulls have access to a 40 acre pasture which provides space for adequate exercise and overall growth and development. As you read the catalogue, you will notice many data points and records printed to help paint the picture of each lot. We rely on this information to aid us in helping make breeding and management decisions on our operation and we want to make this readily available to our customers. You can expect accurate and honest weights from birth to yearling as well as additional data points like carcass characteristics gathered via ultrasound and calving details recorded at time of birth.
We enjoy seeing ranches succeed with incorporating the Hereford breed into their programs. Calves that are easy to manage, and highly feed efficient can bring back dividends in the fall. Hereford cross females are exceptionally maternal and make excellent replacements that will increase herd longevity. The enthusiasm around the Hereford breed is building and we are excited to be apart of it.

Terms: The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable immediately after the sale in Canadian funds. All settlements must be made with the sale clerks before cattle will be released. The right of property will not pass until final payment is made.
Bidding: Each animal will sell to the highest bidder. Bidders unable to attend the sale may phone their bids and instructions to the sale manager, auctioneer or special representatives. Bids must be received in sufficient time prior to the sale.
Disputes: Bidding will be reopened between the parties involved. If no further bid is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision is final.
Announcements: Announcements made from the auction block will take precedence over printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are cautioned to pay close attention to
announcements.
Purchaser’s Risk: Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. Animals will be cared for at the purchaser’s rick for a reasonable length of time. All animals left with the seller must be insured.
Certificate of Registration: Each animal will carry papers issued by the appropriate breed association. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer after payment has been made.
Delivery: Assistance will be given in making delivery after the sale. The purchaser agrees shipping arrangements will be at the convenience of the seller, but will be as soon as practical after the sale, at the buyer’s risk.
Breeder Guarantee: Should any bull fourteen months of age or over, fail to prove a breeder after being used on cows known to be breeders, the matter shall be reported in writing to the seller within six months
following the date of the purchase or six months after the bull has reached fourteen months of age. The seller has the right and privilege of six months to prove the bull a breeder. No guarantee is given that semen collected from the bull will freeze.
Exception Guarantee: In the case where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproductive techniques after the sale, this guarantee shall be null and void. The seller is not responsible for damage caused by foreign bodies after the animal has been sold or for sickness not apparent at sale time. In no event shall the seller be responsible for more than the purchase price.
Accidents: Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers, neither the sale manager, auctioneer, or sellers assume any responsibility and disclaim any liability, legal or otherwise, in the event of accident or loss of property.
