Hy het die winkelsentrum na sy jongste seun, Ivanhoe, vernoem. Robot Supermark was die eerste groot winkel in die sentrum wat sy deure vir die publiek geopen het. Later het plekke soos Old Mutual en SuidAfrika Eagle hul besighede van die boonste

verdieping van die sentrum bedryf. Die inwoners kon in die verlede bioskoop geniet en by The Lantern Inn (dansklub) partytjie hou. Winkels soos Monte Carlo Café, Mayfred Supermark en Matco slaghuis was ook bekendes wat lekker kos verskaf het. Adnaan Moerat, eienaar van Fish King, vertel hoe hy destyds as 13-jarige oor naweke in sy pa, Alie, se viswinkel en kafee in Ivanhoe Park gewerk het, en nog tot 03:00 in die oggend reggestaan het om honger mense van die bioskoop en dansklub te voer. Hy onthou Klein Drakensteinweg as ’n eenrigtingstraat en die sypaadjies wat met

gruis gevul was. Die gebied rondom Die Stoepe het sandgrond gehad. Die Moerats het in 1980 hul viswinkel verkoop. Koinonia Gemeenskapsentrum het later sy radiostasie, Radio KC, ook in hierdie sentrum begin. Sedert 2006 is opknappings by die sentrum gedoen, waar hulle die boonste verdieping van die gebou in woonstelle omskep het. Tans is besighede soos Delite, Neil’s Classic Funerals, Fred’s Liquors, CentrePoint Superette, Paarl Fisheries & Take Aways, K.C Domestic Repairs en Biltong op skrif van die huurders. “Vandag woon daar ongeveer 19 huisgesinne in die woonstelle,” het Adré Abrahams, seun van Fred vertel.

Danfred Afrika van Wellington is steeds een van die top deelnemers in die nuwe realiteitsprogram Sellhard, Western Cape. Sellhard is soortgelyk aan Donald Trump se The Apprentice, maar die Suid-Afrikaanse weergawe is gemik op verkoopsmense. Die program is elke Sondagaand op DSTV 263 om 21:30.
