From Mrs. Faulkner
There have been so many different activities in school this week and I thank our boys, parents and staff for all their fantastic efforts in supporting each and every one of those events.
On Monday we started the week with a further Remembrance assembly and pause for reflection. Year 6 volunteers presented an Armistice Day assembly linking to the bravery, team work and courage shared in our assembly last week. Together we then observed a two minute silence and the sounding of the Last Post by Senior Boys’ pupil, Antoine. It was lovely to see so many of the boys representing their Cubs and Scouts groups too as they wore their uniforms with pride.
This Friday, Mr Minta will speak to the boys about our new Personal Explorers Enrichment Programme. Through this programme we will be asking the boys to reflect on their various extra-curricular, charitable and leadership endeavours to consider the impact they have had on their own character development linked to our Park Road Principles of Creativity, Curiosity, Collaboration, Communication, Celebration, Compassion, Challenge and Commitment. These principles underpin much of the work we do both within and beyond the curriculum, we would be very grateful if you could spend a little time talking with your son about how he feels he has developed in these areas and what he might want to focus on next.
Helping others is very much a part of our Character development and so this Friday we will be supporting the BBC Children in Need appeal. The boys are invited to accessorise their uniform with something spotty and we would ask that they make a small voluntary donation in support of this very worthwhile charity.
Art Trip to Yorkshire Sculpture Park
Boys from across the school who have shown a particular interesting in and aptitude for Art, visited Yorkshire Sculpture Park on Tuesday. It was a fantastic trip to one of the premier Arts venues in the North of England which is home to a range of amazing sculptures placed in the landscape and an ongoing programme of exhibitions. Staff at the centre said how the boys were a credit to us with their excellent behaviour and probing questions. Max said “We all learned that artwork can be made in very different ways. It has been inspiring to see the amount of abstract art other than picture work. Abstract is cool!” And Dylan said we should visit again! I couldn’t agree more. JPM
Anti-Bullying Week
This week is national anti-bullying week. Whilst bullying is rare in our school, it is important that we take this time to remind the boys of what bullying is and what they should do if they experience or witness bullying in school. This year the focus is ‘Choose Respect’. The boys were very thoughtful in their responses around what that would look like when they spoke in assembly.

News from the Art Room
We had great fun screen printing in the art room "factory". Some future Andy Warhols amongst us! Such a great process to be able to explore and to start to master. Really proud of the lunchtime screen printing group.
Infant Sibling Photographs
Infant sibling photographs will take place at Beech House on Tuesday 19th November 2024 from 08:00-08:40 am. If you son has a sibling in Beech House and you would like them to have a joint photograph, please go to Beech House on Tuesday morning and Mrs Sykes will direct you to the Hall.
Achievements
Oscar was the very proud flag bearer for his Scouts Group (9th-15th Leigh) at the Remembrance Day Parade in Leigh on Sunday morning. Well done Oscar.
He was very honoured to take on this role and pay his respects to all those affected by the War.
Matthew (Y6) was very lucky to meet David Walliams at Waterstones in Birmingham on Saturday for the launch of his new book; Super Sleuth. Well done Matthew.
