This is also available from the search box on the Library home page. Simply type in one word and you will receive a list of results of items that contain your word. Guided search The Guided Search screen allows you to quickly locate specific items by entering multiple details of the title, author, publication year etc of the desired item. Note that this search does not support Boolean logic. Advanced search The Advanced search available from the Search screen allow you to restrict your searches to specific fields (e.g. Author, Title) or items of specific media types (e.g.


Books, DVDs) and also supports the use of Boolean logic. You can therefore limit your search using AND, NOT and OR Search History Click Search History on the top menu to display a list of recent searches performed. For non-logged in readers, the list will contain the searches performed in the current session. For logged-in readers, the list will contain the most recent searches performed by the reader, possibly over multiple sessions. To re-run a search, click on the search term in the Search text column. Search Results There are two screens on which records from search results can be displayed: The ‘Summary results’ screen normally the screen on which results are initially displayed if more than one hit is returned and displays brief details of multiple records. The summary display will by default show ten records per page. The ‘Detailed results’ screen displays detailed information for a single record, to switch to using the Detailed display, click the ‘Detailed’ tab. You will be able to view each record in the results by clicking the forward or back arrows. Alternatively, click on an item's title, which is a hypertext link, to show details of that individual item only. Printing, downloading or saving search results To select records from search results for printing, downloading or saving to a saved list etc., tick the tickbox associated with the item. To select all records on a page, tick the tickbox at the top of the page of results. Then select your choice of action from the list on the left of the screen and then follow the onscreen instructions. Print - select this to print the results. Email - select this to send an email (e.g. to yourself) with the results as an attachment. Download - select this to either display the results on screen for copying to paste into another application, or to save the results as a file. Your account Logging in To log in, enter your reader code and PIN in the boxes at the right of the screen, then click the ‘Login’ button, you will need all the zeros in your borrower number. Your name will be a hyperlink, click it to open the ‘My Account’ screen to view account details. The following tabs are displayed when you are logged into your account: Account Loans This page displays your current loans and their due dates. To renew an item, select the item required by ticking the tick box at the right of the row, then click the Renew button. Reserved items This page displays your reservations, including your place in the reservation queue. It is possible to cancel a reservation from this screen (by clicking the Cancel button immediately above the list of reservations if it is showing), but not to make a new reservation.


History This page displays your previous loans. Charges The Library does not fine at present. Recent The Library does not support this feature at present. Serials The Library does not support this feature at present. History Click Search History on the top menu to display a list of recent searches performed. For non-logged in readers, the list will contain the searches performed in the current session. For logged-in readers, the list will contain the most recent searches performed by the reader, possibly over multiple sessions. To re-run a search, click on the search term in the Search text column. Favourites The Favourites page contains your saved lists and searches, plus lists and searches which other library users have shared with you. A saved list is a list of records. You can save selected records from multiple searches to a list. Records can be added to the list or or deleted as required. A saved search is a saved search phrase, which can be rerun at a later date. Online reservations Items can only be reserved if all copies are on loan, you cannot reserve an item that is available on the shelf. Click here to reserve item

Conformation of reservation

To reserve an item search for the item and display the record in the detailed results screen. Once your are logged into your account click the ‘Reserve’ button. If the reservation has been accepted, a confirmation message will be displayed. Click Continue to return to the Results page. If the reservation could not be placed (for example, if the item is not on loan), you will see a message to this effect, and should click OK to return to the Results page.


Online renewals Items can be renewed a maximum of two times.

Whilst logged in to your account click on the ‘Loans’ tab and put a tick in the box next to the items that you wish to renew and then click ‘Renew’. If the book can be renewed then the new due date is displayed in the ‘Due date’ column. If the book cannot be displayed for any reason, such as having been renewed the maximum number of times then a message will be displayed asking you to contact the Library staff.
