JESSICA J. LONG PRESS PACK

Concept: Design, format and produce a promotional press pack proposal for printed textiles designer, Jessica J. Long. The pack should have an interesting fold method and house a CV, Press release, business card, compliment slip, postcards and stickers. Jessica produces fine hand embroidered bespoke wallpapers, so it was necessary ro reflect this in the pack. Audience: Potential employers, art buyers, potential fans and customers / clients. Tone: Bespoke, nostalgia, limited edition, inform & promote.

PRODUCT (01) Jessica’s wallpapers are often layered using digital and hand printing methods, along with embroidery and machine stitching. It was agreed with Jessica that the pack should also operate in layers. This was achived by producing a bespoke envelope with cuts of Jessica’s work on it. This then opens out to reveal a folder.

Envelope was printed on heavy matt stock (180gsm) For durability, with the inside folder printed on slightly lighter un coated stock (160gsm).

PRODUCT (02) The packaging keeps uniformity throughout by applying hi res images of Jessica’s most appropriate motifs onto selected areas of the pack. Jessica’s letter head was produced using the same method, and ties into the pack visually by doing so.

PRODUCT (03) The press pack is about 15 mm larger all the way round than A5, to make sure it would fit A4 documents folded well. The client decided that an A4 folder was too large to have as a special hand out promotional pack. The pack will operate in an exhibition scenario as a ‘take on request’ document. Each unit costs £11 to produce, and the intention is that only a few will be produced for special clients of Jessica’s, with seperate business cards to be handed out on a larger scale.

Top left: The pack after opening it, the client recieves a sticker, and the first thing seen is the compliment slip and CV. Bottom left: In the right side of the folder is a compliment slip, press release and postcard whch directs the viewer to Jessica J. Long’s website. Right: CV and press pack follow a simple 4 column vertical grid, using scotch roman regular and italic.
