Hello! from Australia The collective Australian Stand at The Bologna Children’s Book Fair, 2020 The backdrop to the stand is an illustration by Indigenous artist Lisa Kennedy from the picture book Welcome to Country, written by Aunty Joy Murphy and published by Walker Books. As always, we have a keen focus on illustration, and visitors this year have the opportunity to meet 17 Australian illustrators and authors working on our Creators Table over the four days. This year we have 12 independent publishers on the Australian collective stand promoting and showcasing a diverse and exciting range of publishing for children. We have become aware of the international growth in publishing books with an environmental focus and this growth is also reflected in our Australian publishing. Many books featured in this catalogue celebrate Australia’s unique environment, the landscapes; oceans; peoples; flora and fauna. They reflect on how vulnerable, precious and fragile our ecosystems are. This focus has also been highlighted with much national and international reaction and attention to the recent devastating bush fires in Australia. This illustrated catalogue features a selection of titles from 30 Australian publishers. Each publisher’s entry includes a ‘tasting’ menu’ of recent titles, information about their particular focus and aims and relevant contact details.
