AROUND SAPPORO 札幌近郊 With an idyllic rural, rustic onsen and family-friendly attractions, Sapporo’s suburban sprawl makes a good excursion. Locals enjoy driving, camping and fishing in the countryside on weekend. A good balance would be to spend at least two days in Sapporo and a few days in the suburbs. If you are driving on Route 337 (Central Hokkaido High-Standard Highway) between Chitose and Otaru across the Ishikari Plain, interregional movement allows much more flexibility.
