To kick off the holiday season, the Instituto Mentes Sin Límites hosted an emotional dinner where Cristina García, director of the El Paso branch, invited students, friends, and colleagues to a night of celebration.
During the event, the unveiling of the Border Heritage Magazine cover took place, honoring Álvaro Mora, director of Instituto Mentes Sin Límites, writer, life coach, and a true example of commitment to personal and community development. It was a moment filled with inspiration, traditions, and a deep sense of unity.
Attendees had the opportunity to connect, share experiences, and celebrate another year of personal growth achieved through the hard work of this remarkable institution.

Con motivo de dar inicio a las festividades decembrinas, el Instituto Mentes Sin Límites organizó una emotiva cena, en la cual Cristina García, directora de la sede en El Paso, convocó a alumnos, amigos y compañeros a una noche de celebración.
Durante el evento, se llevó a cabo la develación de la portada de la revista Border Heritage, que en esta edición rindió homenaje a Álvaro Mora, director del Instituto Mentes Sin Límites, escritor, coach de vida y un verdadero ejemplo de compromiso con el desarrollo personal y comunitario. Fue un momento cargado de inspiración, tradiciones y un profundo sentido de unión.
Los asistentes tuvieron la oportunidad de convivir, compartir experiencias y celebrar otro año de aprendizajes personales logrados a través del trabajo de esta valiosa institución.

THAILAND
WHERE CULTURE MEETS PARADISE
Two decades after the devastating Indian Ocean tsunami in December 2004, a group of Mexican travelers from La Paz, Querétaro, Chihuahua, and Ciudad Juárez chose the idyllic beaches of Thailand to explore its culture and cuisine, reflecting on the scars left by the colossal wave that devastated the beauty of Phuket and the Phi Phi Islands, and claiming around 230,000 lives across the affected countries.
Thailand is one of Southeast Asia's most popular tourist destinations, known for its stunning natural beauty, rich cultural history, and warm hospitality. Visitors can enjoy the tropical warmth in December, a scene straight out of a postcard. Our adventure began in Bangkok, the bustling capital, the most populous city, and a hub for politics, commerce, and industry. Bangkok is a vibrant metropolis blending modernity and tradition, where you can travel from place to place in the fun traditional Tuk-tuks. We explored famous temples such as the Grand Palace, Wat Phra Kaew (Temple of the Emerald Buddha), and Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn), along with a visit to the traditional floating market. We also enjoyed the city's vibrant nightlife at rooftop bars with spectacular aerial views.
To continue our cultural journey, we visited Ayutthaya, the ancient capital, which is an archaeological marvel filled with temples and ruins from Thailand’s ancient civilization. In the north, Chiang Mai is known for its culture, temples, and mountains, with the iconic Wat Phra That Doi Suthep standing out. The city is also renowned for its Yi Peng Lantern Festival.
We also visited Chiang Rai in search of the magnificent Wat Rong Khun, also known as the White Temple, which symbolizes Buddha's purity. Of course, no trip to Thailand would be complete without visiting its paradise beaches. We flew to Phuket and took a tour of Ko Tapu, also known as James Bond Island, where the 1984 Hollywood classic The Man with the Golden Gun was filmed. Four decades later, the island is still known for its connection to James Bond.
Our trip concluded with a ferry ride to the idyllic Phi Phi Islands, famous for their breathtaking white sand beaches, crystal-clear waters, and impressive rock formations. Maya Bay, featured in the Hollywood film The Beach starring Leonardo DiCaprio, is renowned for its immaculate beauty, surrounded by towering rock formations and turquoise waters. Another stunning beach is Ton Sai Bay on Phi Phi Don Island, the largest in the archipelago. It is the island's main center, with most of the accommodations, bars, and restaurants. While it’s more crowded, it remains beautiful, with calm waters and spectacular views. It’s ideal for those seeking a mix of tranquility and nightlife.
Finally, Thailand's delicious cuisine caters to all tastes. Here are some of the most popular dishes: • Pad Thai: Stir-fried noodles with egg, tofu, shrimp, and peanuts.
• Tom Yum: A spicy and tangy soup with shrimp or chicken.
• Som Tum: Green papaya salad with chilies, peanuts, and dried shrimp.
• Massaman Curry: A mild, flavorful Thai curry with Muslim influences.
• Mango with Sticky Rice: A sweet dessert of sticky rice with coconut milk and fresh mango.
Just over a week in Thailand was not enough to experience everything the country has to offer. We still have the rich tradition of festivals to explore:
• Songkran: Thai New Year (April), famous for street water battles.
• Loy Krathong: In November, Thais release small flower boats (krathongs) into rivers.
• Yi Peng: The lantern festival in Chiang Mai, where thousands of paper lanterns light up the night sky.
Thailand is a destination that offers something for every type of traveler, whether you're looking for culture, adventure, relaxation, or party. It’s a place that will surely leave unforgettable memories!

Tailandia a dos décadas del Tsunami del Océano Índico en Diciembre del 2004, este año un grupo de viajeras mexicanas procedentes de La Paz, Querétaro, Chihuahua y Cd. Juárez elegimos las paradisíacas playas de este país asiático así como conocer su cultura y gastronomía , reflexionando sobre las huellas de esa ola colosal que arrasó con la belleza de sus majestuosas playas en Phuket e Islas Phi Phi y que la furia del océano dejó alrededor de 230 mil personas sin vida en los países golpeados por el tsunami .
Tailandia es uno de los destinos turísticos más populares en el sudeste asiático, gracias a su impresionante belleza natural, rica historia cultural y hospitalidad. Para los visitantes el calor tropical en diciembre es como una postal. Nuestra aventura empezó en su capital Bangkok siendo la ciudad más poblada , centro de la actividad política, comercial e industrial. Bangkok una vibrante metrópoli que mezcla entre lo moderno y lo tradicional, en la que puedes desplazarte de un lugar a otro de una manera divertida en los tradicionales Tuk-tuks , aquí puedes disfrutar de sus famosos templos como El Gran Palacio, Wat Phra Kaew (Templo del Buda Esmeralda) , así como Wat Arun (Templo del Amanecer) aunado a la visita al tradicional mercado flotante y que decir de la vida nocturna en los bares con el concepto rooftop con espectaculares vistas aéreas
Para continuar de la atracción de sus templos y cultura esta Ayutthaya; antigua capital es una maravilla arqueológica llena de templos y ruinas de la antigua civilización tailandesa y en el norte Chiang Mai es famosa por su cultura, templos y montañas. El Wat Phra That Doi Suthep es uno de los más destacados, y la ciudad es conocida por su festival de las linternas, el Yi Peng. También en la zona norte otro de nuestros destinos fue Chiang Rai en donde fuimos en busca del esplendoroso Wat Rong Khun conocido también como el Templo Blanco que destaca la pureza de Buda .
Y como dejar de lado las paradisíacas Islas y Playas tailandesas. Finalmente tomamos un avión hacia Phuket en la que tomamos el tour Ko Taputambién conocida como la Isla de James Bond, en donde en 1984 se filmó el clásico de Hollywood James Bond ¨El hombre de la pistola de oro¨ a 4 décadas de realizar el filme esta playa es mayormente conocida por la Isla de James Bond.
Cerramos con broche de Oro , temprano tomamos un ferry para viajar de Phuket a las edénicas playas Phi Phi , famosas por sus impresionantes playas de arena blanca, aguas cristalinas e impresionantes formaciones rocosas . Dentro de las principales playas resaltan Maya Bay misma que fue escenario de Hollywood en la película ¨La Playa¨ protagonizada por Leonardo DiCaprio , famosa por su belleza inmaculada, rodeada de altas formaciones rocosas y aguas turquesas. Otra de las playas que sobre sale por su belleza Ton Sai Bay:seencuentra en la isla Phi Phi Don, la más grande del archipiélago. Es el centro principal de la isla, donde se encuentran la mayoría de los alojamientos, bares y restaurantes. Aunque es más concurrida, la playa sigue siendo hermosa, con aguas calmadas y una vista espectacular. Es ideal para aquellos que buscan una mezcla de tranquilidad y vida nocturna.
Finalmente pero no menos importante la deliciosa gastronomía Tai para todos los exigentes paladares aquí una lista de los mas solicitados

Poco más de una semana fue insuficiente para todo lo que ofrece Tailandia quedamos pendientes con la rica tradición de festivales como:

Year after year, the Nutcracker Runway event takes place. This time, The Elmont in Montecillo, El Paso, opened its doors to welcome guests, colleagues, and friends for a special gathering, where they enjoyed a fashion show and the sale of local items.
As always, the goal of the event was to benefit a non-profit organization. This year, the USMC Foundation participated to support its health program, which is continuously carried out for the benefit of the Juarez community.
On this occasion, a collection was presented to more than 150 people, with the participation of a local Sofía Lastre 'Barrio Luna’ designer who was present with her hand-painted garments. Dresses, blouses, pants, and sets were presented with a modern and special touch. Also featured was a collection from Boga Hair Salon and Boutique, in a runway show that blended two styles with a casual air. All of this was made possible thanks to the support of Roberto Chávez and his team, who coordinated the runway show and the models.
As is customary, local entrepreneurs were invited to participate to showcase their products and services. Participating brands included: Hand and Stone, Teyali Jewelry, Ariale, Sparkclean Jewelry Cleaner, Me & Co., Nativa Gift Tradition, Boga, El Paso Beauty and Barber Academy, the famous chalets and coats by Rosa Isela Molina, the Mentes sin Límite Institute, Leyvaru Hair Extensions, Ariale, Enova Wellness Spa & Salon, Cutesy Designs by Sam, Lula Bakery, MB Creations, Lia Marant, and Mary Kay
Attendees were able to enjoy the sale of items, gifts, clothing, and accessories, a delicious brunch, raffles, and, of course, a fashion show that undoubtedly adorned the event.
Thanks to our sponsors who joined the effort, we were able to carry out this activity to once again benefit the community this holiday season.

Nutcracker Runway en esta ocación The Elmont en Montecillo en El Paso, abrió sus puertas parachute a invitados, compañeras y amigas para una convivencia, disfrutar de un desfile de modas y la venta de artículos locales.
El objetivo del evento, como siempre, fue a beneficio de una asociación sin fines de lucro. Este año, el turno fue para la fundación USMC participó para apoyar el programa de salud las cuales se realizan continuamente en beneficio de la comunidad juarense.
En esta ocasión, se presentó ante más de 150 personas una colección, con la participación de diseñadora local Sofía Lastre 'Barrio Luna', quien estuvo presente con sus prendas pintadas a mano. Vestidos, blusas, pantalones y conjuntos, fueron presentados con un toque moderno y especial también de la colección de Boga Hair salón and Boutique en esta pasarela, que combinó dos estilos con un aire casual; todo con el apoyo de Roberto Chávez y su equipo quienes coordinaron la pasarela y a las chicas que modelaron.
Como es costumbre, empresarios locales fueron invitados a participar para mostrar sus productos y servicios.

Judith Leading the future of Logistics: Global Impact. Torres
One of the many features that make the city of El Paso great is the contribution of businesswomen to the region's economic system. Border Heritage Magazine proudly serves as a platform to showcase the human side of the individuals driving El Paso, Ciudad Juárez, and the Rio Grande region.
In this edition, we spoke with Judith Torres, a woman born and raised in Chihuahua, who is the CEO of Inclusive Logistics—a logistics service company offering air, land, and sea transportation, as well as handling all customs procedures to ensure supplies, raw materials, and finished products reach their destinations.
Judith arrived in El Paso a little over 14 years ago, unfortunately fleeing the violence that plagued the state capital of Chihuahua during those years, the city where she was born. It was also in Chihuahua City that Judith, along with her parents and eight siblings, built a future where education and determination were key to overcoming the economic challenges the family faced during her childhood. Her parents were her greatest example of strength and dedication, as, despite many adversities, they ensured that she and her siblings could attend college and obtain higher education.
Starting a new life in a city far from one’s own is, in most cases, not easy. For Judith Torres, despite being a hardworking, intelligent, and professional woman, it was challenging to find employment due to her immigration status. However, thanks to a close friend, she managed to secure a position as a commission agent in her friend’s business. Judith made the most of this opportunity, excelling by acquiring clients, networking, and analyzing the market.
She recounts that, despite the difficulties she faced during that period of her life, she learned many rewarding lessons and discovered talents she didn’t know she had.
This experience gave Judith the push she needed to create her own logistics business, but not without first preparing, training, and obtaining certifications to professionally support her endeavors.
After nearly a decade, Torres' leadership has been pivotal in transforming Inclusive Logistics into one of the most renowned providers in the region. Her commitment to customer service, reliability, and community development has set new standards in the industry.
Judith also possesses an impressive academic background, having earned the Management Essentials certification from Harvard Business School Online, further enhancing her management and strategic leadership skills.
Reaching this level was a tough and winding road, but in Judith's own words, it has been incredibly rewarding. The key, she says, is to never give up and, above all, to surround oneself with a team that shares the same goals—people who are committed and eager to grow in every aspect.
In addition to her professional achievements, Torres supports mentoring programs for women in the logistics sector, inspiring future generations to build their careers in the supply chain industry. She is a strong advocate for innovation, integrity, and inclusion, shaping a future where logistics not only moves goods but also creates significant economic opportunities across borders.

Una de las características que hacen grande a la ciudad de El Paso es la cantidad de mujeres empresarias que aportan al sistema económico de la región; y Border Heritage es un orgulloso escaparate para dar a conocer el lado humano de las personas que mueven a El Paso, Ciudad Juárez y la región del Rio Bravo.
En esta ocasión platicamos con Judith Torres, una mujer chihuahuense de nacimiento y crianza, quien es CEO de Inclusive Logistics una empresa de servicio de logística que ofrece transporte aéreo, terrestre y marítimo, así como toda la tramitología aduanal para que los insumos, materias primas y productos terminados lleguen a su destino.
Judith llegó a El Paso hace poco más de 14 años, lamentablemente huyendo de la violencia que se vivió en aquellos años en la capital del estado de Chihuahua, ciudad en donde nació. Fue también en Chihuahua capital donde, Judith, junto con sus padres y ocho hermanos forjaron un futuro donde el estudio y las ganas de salir adelante fueron clave para sortear las dificultades económicas por las que atravesó la familia durante su infancia. Sus padres fueron su más grande ejemplo de fortaleza y dedicación ya que a pesar de las adversidades, ella y sus hermanos pudieron ir a la universidad.
El reiniciar una vida en una ciudad lejos de la propia es, en la mayoría de los casos, nada fácil; y para Judith Torres, a pesar de ser muy trabajadora, inteligente y profesional le fue difícil encontrar un empleo debido a su situación migratoria, pero, gracias a una amiga personal, logró colocarse como comisionista en su empresa. Judith aprovechó al máximo esta oportunidad y logró destacar consiguiendo clientes, haciendo networking y estudiando el mercado.
Judith cuenta que a pesar de que fue una época difícil, aprendió cosas muy gratificantes y descubrió talentos que no sabía que tenía.
Ese fue el empujón que llevó a Judith a crear su propio negocio de logística, no sin antes prepararse, capacitarse y obtener certificaciones que la respaldaran profesionalmente.
Y después de casi una década, el liderazgo de Torres ha sido decisivo para transformar Inclusive Logistics en uno de los proveedores con más renombre en la región. Su compromiso con el servicio al cliente, la fiabilidad y el desarrollo de la comunidad ha establecido nuevos estándares en el sector. Judith también cuenta con una impresionante formación académica, obtuvo el certificado Management Essentials en la Harvard Business School Online, que ha mejorado aún más sus capacidades de gestión y liderazgo estratégico.
Llegar a este nivel fue un camino duro, sinuoso, pero en palabras de la misma Judith, ha sido muy gratificante; la clave está en no desistir y sobre todo en rodearse de un equipo con los mismos objetivos, gente comprometida y con la voluntad de crecer en todos los aspectos.
Además de sus logros profesionales, Torres también apoya programas de tutoría para mujeres en el sector de la logística, inspirando a las generaciones futuras a desarrollar sus carreras en la industria de la cadena de suministro. The funds will support the newly established Epilepsy Monitoring Unit at El Paso Children's Hospital, ensuring that children with epilepsy receive specialized care. Additionally, it will fund critical orthopedic surgeries for children in Ciudad Juárez, providing much-needed medical interventions for families who might otherwise be unable to afford them. Ciudad Juárez commemorated its 365th anniversary with a parade that showcased its cultural, historical, and social richness, bringing together more than 120,000 attendees in the western part of the city.
With the participation of 900 volunteers and 20 floats, the event was divided into four thematic segments: Juárez Mystic Ancestral, highlighting the indigenous origins of the region; Pan-American Highway, emphasizing the city's geographical and economic importance; Juárez, Heart of America, celebrating historical and cultural achievements; and Welcome to Music, Dance, and Celebration, which concluded the parade with vibrant performances.
Highlights included the Marching Band from the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), folkloric groups, and iconic elements such as Xochimilco trajineras, the Torre Latinoamericana, and floats dedicated to Juan Gabriel, margaritas, and the maquiladora industry. The parade also featured regional dances, lucha libre references, and traditional elements like spinning tops and alebrijes.
The event celebrated the past, present, and future of this dynamic border city. For all these reasons, this parade stands out as one of the best events held in this border city, thanks to its artistic quality, the professionalism of those who made it possible, and the excellent coordination of the Ciudad Juárez municipal government team.

Con la participación de 900 voluntarios y 20 carros alegóricos, el evento se dividió en cuatro segmentos temáticos: Juárez Místico Ancestral, que exploró los orígenes indígenas de la región; Carretera Panamericana, que resaltó la relevancia geográfica y económica de la ciudad; Juárez Corazón de América, que celebró logros históricos y culturales; y Bienvenido a la Música, Baile y Fiesta, que cerró con representaciones de danza y música.
Destacaron la Marching Band de la Universidad de Texas en El Paso (UTEP), grupos folklóricos, y elementos icónicos como trajineras de Xochimilco, la Torre Latinoamericana y carros alegóricos dedicados a Juan Gabriel, la margarita y la industria maquiladora. El desfile también incluyó danzas regionales, referencias a la lucha libre y tradicionales como el trompo y los alebrijes.

Celebración especial en memoria de Don Arnoldo Cabada de la O, presidente y fundador de Grupo Intermedia, quien tuvo la visión de peregrinar con anhelos y esperanzas,
bajo el destello de una luz, que descubrió en su natal Villa Ocampo Durango y atar su arado a una estrella, que lo guio a través del desierto de Chihuahua.
Solitario hacedor de sueños, frente a paisajes irrepetibles de soles y lunas doradas, donde los vocablos se dispersaron con imaginación y misterio, como caja de resonancia en otros paisajes, recordando una niñez cuya felicidad radicaba en una golosina, naranjas y cacahuates, o tal vez un juguete. Recently, an event held Consulado General de México en El Paso in collaboration with the City of El Paso as part of Winter Fest stood out for its cultural diversity and the vibrant energy that filled the stage. Hosted by Karla Mariscal and Héctor Urrutia, the evening was a celebration of music, dance, and local tradition, bringing the community together for a memorable experience.
Among the Featured Participants was the City of El Paso Senior Citizens Choir. This talented group of senior residents brought enthusiasm and dedication to each performance, uniting the community with their love for music. Their performances were an emotional tribute to the vitality of the elderly and the traditions that enrich our society, proving that it’s never too late to shine.
Additionally, the Ballet Folklórico Paso del Norte, with over 45 years of experience, is a true cultural icon that has brought Mexican traditions to international stages. Directed by Professor Rodolfo Hernández, the group delighted the audience with a fusion of music, dance, and poetry, standing out for its flawless execution and the artistic richness of its performances.
Meanwhile, La Original Sonora, with its contagious musical energy, personifies the joy of tropical rhythms. Inspired by the great Mexican sonoras, they have captured the heart of the Paso del Norte region with their authentic style. Their mix of genre classics and original compositions resonated throughout the event, taking the celebration to new heights of excitement.
This event was a clear example of local talent and the warmth of the El Paso community, showcasing the cultural richness the city has to offer and leaving an indelible mark on the attendees.

Entre los Participantes Destacados se encontraba El Coro de Adultos Mayores de la Ciudad de El Paso, Este talentoso grupo de residentes mayores aportó entusiasmo y dedicación a cada interpretación, uniendo a la comunidad con su amor por la música. Sus presentaciones fueron un emotivo homenaje a la vitalidad de la tercera edad y a las tradiciones que enriquecen nuestra sociedad, demostrando que nunca es tarde para brillar.
Además el Ballet Folclórico Paso del Norte con más de 45 años de trayectoria, que es por hoy un verdadero referente cultural que ha llevado las tradiciones mexicanas a escenarios internacionales, y que fue Dirigido por el Profesor Rodolfo Hernández, deleitó al público con una fusión de música, danza y poesía, destacándose por su impecable ejecución y la riqueza artística de sus interpretaciones.
Mientras que La Original Sonora, con su contagiosa energía musical personifica la alegría de los ritmos tropicales. Inspirados por las grandes sonoras mexicanas, han logrado conquistar el corazón de la región Paso del Norte con su estilo auténtico. Su mezcla de clásicos del género y composiciones propias resonó en el evento, llevando la fiesta a nuevos niveles de emoción.

omo cada año, el Aeropuerto Internacional de El Paso se convirtió en un punto de encuentro para celebrar el espíritu festivo con su ya tradicional Winterfest.
