Debbie: The show stopper here at AIMExpo is Rafik Kaissi from RK Concepts. Man and Machine! This is incredible! But you know what? I got to know Rafik a little bit better. He is the most humble man I’ve ever talked too! Tell us about these creations! Rafik: Hi! My name is Rafik Kaissi from RK Concepts. When I design a bike, I’m influenced by movies like Mad Max and stuff like BTR 12 | BORNTORIDE.COM

that; that’s always been my inspiration. I try to keep that industry-look on each one of my bikes. As you can see from one of my bikes here, the chain is actually the backbone of the motorcycle as well as the swing arm. Like I said, I try t o keep that industry look with the rawness of the machines. I concentrate mainly on simplicity; keep it simple but to have it raw with the Mad Max feel.

Debbie: I see you have a little bit of that artillery going there too? Rafik: (Laughing) Well, that’s actually a real grenade that I cut in half and welded shut and machined it to be the brake fluid reservoir. I consider myself very blessed. I have great people that believe in me, willing to sponsor me, and honestly without them, I couldn’t be

doing this. My sponsors believe in me and they see what I’m able to do. I want to give back to my sponsors. I recently decided that I want to start selling some of these bikes and getting them in movies like Mad Max. They speak Mad Max if you look at them, really! So, if I can do that and pay my sponsors back that would mean the world to me. Debbie: I see Avon Tires jumped right on

board! They said they got to have the rubber on these machines. Rafik: Oh yes, oh yes! Avon Tires, Oleans, Derringer Brakes, Cannon Filter and a couple other companies – I don’t want to forget anybody! Everyone has been on board and believes in me. I just want to pay these guys back. Debbie: I like the thought that they believe in

you, your creations. It’s art on wheels rolling down the street here. Tell me how people can get in touch with you to have one of these creations made for them. Rafik: You can find me on line at www.RKConcepts.com, on Facebook (RK Concepts), Instagram, and Twitter all RK Concepts.

Women’s World REFLECTIONS & RESOLUTIONS

Congratulations to us all for making it to the year 2016. It is a brand new year full of exciting adventures and endless possibilities. Consider all that you had dreamt of and let go of. Consider how your life could be different had you made different choices in life. Now celebrate that you are here and alive, able to read this article because that means you can change things and live your life in extraordinary ways, starting today. It is not too late to reinvent yourself. If you are here on earth and breathing, you can start to reinvent your life beginning with your mind and attitude. If you choose to look at things in a doom and gloom manner then that is the bubble you will live in. Instead, bust that dark bubble and blow a new rainbow colored one that is big, bright, and beautiful. This past year, I had the opportunity to have met a wonderful soul who was an inspiration to many and lived life in his very own wonderful and unique way. He knew how to live in the rainbow color balloon in more ways then one. In the October 2015 issue, I wrote an article about him, his name was “CRZ-T” (Crazy T). He was a gentleman with a great personality and attitude towards life. As I sat to write this New Year’s Resolution article, I was saddened by the news that CRZ-T had passed away December 19, 2015. God bless him. May he rest in peace and rock his world in heaven. CRZ-T knew how to live. He was a man who stood out and sadly many people did not get to know him better, due to their own ignorance. When you see someone different than you don’t run and don’t judge. Instead, see it as your perfect opportunity to learn and grow. Don’t let these opportunities pass you by. I approached CRZ-T and got to know him better. He was smart, incredibly funny, and had an attitude we should all have. We were waiting for our doctors in our cancer treatment journey when we met. We talked and joked knowing this is the journey of life. Can’t dwell on things, instead we have to live and go with the flow so to speak. We are not what happens to us, we are not our past and we surely are not our disease; therefore, look at the

present and the future. CRZ-T knew how to be himself regardless of what others thought, and he knew how to live in the now. I will surely miss not seeing him at my doctor visits. I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to meet him. I encourage everyone to learn to live life the EQ LifeStyle way and not wait any longer. Live free of all the useless nonsense. Clean out all the clutter and uselessness in your life to give room for you and your new exceptional life. So what will you do this year, starting today, with your one and only life? The year 2016 is your brand new year, make it extraordinary. Try brand new things you have never dared to do. So long as you are not hurting anyone don’t fear, don’t doubt yourself, and definitely don’t worry what other people say or think. All you motorcycle enthusiast how about that one dream ride that you have heard so much about? How about doing that ride and experiencing it first hand? Pick a place and go enjoy yourself. In 2015, I rode the Tail of the Dragon in North Carolina. I put all of my 1001 excuses aside and just picked up and went with a group of friends. We tend to keep waiting and postponing things until such future events happen and that is a great way to NOT experience life. The experience on those mountain roads was indescribably spectacular and it is embedded in my memory for a lifetime. I also rode the 7-mile Bridge to Key West, with breathtaking views like no other. How about riding in Palm Beach along A1A? It is a picturesque journey just like right out of a movie or magazine. You can feel the ocean breeze, the sun, and the ocean aroma. Once you taste the world outside of your comfort zone you won’t ever want to go back. Life becomes more and more delicious every step of the way. I invite you to come check out our upcoming events (Born To Ride Women’s World: An EQ LifeStyle) at www.EQWS.org and/or www. borntoride.com. Join our mailing list so you don’t miss out. I’m looking forward to meeting you and making this journey called life tremble with love, joy, purpose and passion! Hayley B. Colina, Esq. www.EQWS.org

I love the month of January in Florida. It’s the perfect time of month to ride your motorcycle with the great riding weather we have. But to me the best time is meeting all of my friends at the Gibtown Bike Fest! You can’t beat this weekend; it’s non-stop action, fun, and good times! And most of my riding friends will be there! I spoke with Kenny Smith, the Gibtown Bike Fest chairman, regarding this event. It just keeps getting better and better, year after year! “This year, we increased our entertainment budget by bringing in the Globe of Death, the Wall of Death, the motorcycle stunt jumpers, and a giant 50’ Ferris wheel, too! That’s right! We’re bringing in the large Ferris wheel. It will be set up for everyone to enjoy at the Bike Fest!” The International Independent Showmen’s Association has been an integral part of the Gibsonton/Riverview area for almost 50 years. This area of Florida has been the permanent and winter home to many Carnival Showmen and Circus performers. The Club and Club grounds were established to provide a place where everyone involved in the outdoor amusement industry BTR 30 | BORNTORIDE.COM

could come together to share stories of the past seasons, to make arrangements for the upcoming seasons or to just have a good time. The members who founded the I.I.S.A raised all of the monies needed to procure the property as well as build and erect all of its buildings that they have today. That process of being totally self-funded continues today as they continue to add to and maintain all of their properties. The Gibtown Bike Fest is bringing in a national music act this year! “We are really excited about Molly Hatchet coming to our event. They will be playing Saturday night. In addition to Molly Hatchet on Saturday, we also will have the Greg Billings Band, the Michael Allman Band, and the Black Honkeys.” Saturday will also be the day to crown the 2016 Ms. Gibtown Harley-Davidson. “This will be the second annual contest. We are fortunate to be working closely with Brandon Harley-Davidson. Another great piece of news is the Harley-Davidson demo truck will be here along with Indian and Victory motorcycles by Sky Powersports, Yamaha by Barney’s Motorcycles and Marine, Honda and Polaris by Extreme Power Sports, and

Yelvington Trikes.” What do you think about winning not one, but TWO Harley-Davidson motorcycles? The Gibtown Bike Fest will be selling tickets to win two 2015 Harley-Davidson Fat Boy motorcycles. “These tickets will have an “A-side” and a “B-side.” The A-side ticket will be drawn on Saturday and the B-side will be drawn on Sunday. Two lucky people will be riding off with these motorcycles!” You can get your tickets at Brandon Harley-Davidson, any Showman member, or the easiest way to get your tickets is to call Miss Elaina at the Gibsonton Showman’s Office: 813-677-9377. She will be happy to sell you these tickets. Just have your credit card ready! Only 3,000 tickets will be sold. Once they’re gone, that’s it! Kenny is very passionate about his job but more importantly, he is committed to the goals that were set forth many years ago with the Showman’s Association. “From its conception the club and its members have always been very community minded. Seeing a need to help some of the financially less fortunate local citizens primarily not show people, the club established its annual Christmas basket drive. Members

of the Club formed a committee to ensure that children and their families were provided with boxes of wrapped gifts and baskets of food for several holiday meals.” “A massive special needs Children’s Christmas party was established very early on. Several of our members thought to reach out to the Hillsborough County School system and began hosting this wonderful party complete with singing, dancing, dj’s, and a circus act or two. This year we had over 300 of these special kids, each had a chance to talk with Santa and Mrs. Clause and receive a huge bag full of gifts. The I.I.S.A. also hosts the Hillsborough County Sheriffs Senior citizens Banquet, many of whom are driven to and from their homes by club members so they can attend.” In addition to all the events that are going on throughout the weekend, you may want to take a walk on over to the Showmen’s Museum. “One of our newest and grandest projects was the completion of the Showmen’s Museum. This large, free standing building is full of historical artifacts, photos and large advertising banners depicting the evolution of the outdoor amusement industry.” “Our club is also home to one of

Florida’s largest Shrine organizations. The Showmen’s Shrine club and is the only Shrine club anywhere that is allowed to have a worldwide membership. The Showmen’s Shrine club membership is not limited to just showmen, and with over 400 members, they continue to raise and provide funds for the Shriners hospitals along with several other charitable causes.” If you like to have a hearty breakfast on Saturday and Sunday, the Shriner’s will be putting on one of the best breakfasts in town! The breakfast will be served Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. There will be free primitive tent camping. For those of you that have an RV, you can hook up to water and electric for only $35 a night! Be sure to call the office to reserve your RV spots since there are only a few spaces remaining! In winding down our conversation, I asked Kenny why this event is so important. “The history of the Association is to entertain. That’s what we do. We want to make sure that everyone who comes out has a good time. When they have a good time, they will come out the following year. One of my personal goals is to make this event the best

Don’t miss the Born To Ride Custom and Ride In Bike Show Saturday

one in the state of Florida. You won’t find another event in Florida that has two motorcycles to give away over a weekend!” Kenny added, “I was also very fortunate to work with Ron and Debbie Galletti of Born To Ride when I took over this position. I told Ron what my goals were and he gave me a list of items I had to complete. Three days later, I called Ron and told him my list was complete. From there, Ron was able to get his marketing expertise laid out and planned for our event. We are all very happy to have Born To Ride a part of the Gibtown Bike Fest!” The venue for the Gibtown Bike Fest is a beautiful piece of property located in Riverview. The easiest way to get there is to hop on 41 in Riverview (Tamiami Trail) and take Riverview Drive. Once you get there, you’ll be glad you did! All of us at Born To Ride look forward to seeing you there! Be sure to tell us you read about this event in Born To Ride magazine! Happy New Year; I thought it would be great to use an example of someone I have helped over the years. The following story really touches my heart with a client and fellow rider I met about a year ago. I have changed his name and some of the numbers of the principal to protect our client, but it is a very real client and I see this over and over again. John came to me about a year ago. After our meeting, I asked him to go home and gather anything that related to his financial situation so we could look at it on our next meeting. At the very minimum, I would help him understand what risk he might be facing: including not earning anything on his money or outliving what he had. At our next meeting John told me that he had inherited some money, and it was all still in the accounts he had inherited from his family. He was living only on his social security and was barely getting by. When he did need money, he took some from one of the accounts he inherited. He brought stacks of his statements to me that he did not understand, nor did he want to. He was retired and just wanted to be riding his motorcycle or kayaking. John was very BTR 38 | BORNTORIDE.COM

young for a 70-year-old and just venturing out to meet his friends whenever he could afford to. I looked at John’s accounts that he thought he had about $350,000 in and quickly realized he really had about $850,000 at the current market value of his investments. Most of his parents’ money had been invested in the stock and bond markets and over the years had grown significantly. He was not aware, as most people are not, how to read and value the information on his statements from the many different firms and banks. The other thing that jumped off the page was the risk he was taking in the type of investments that they were in and like most, the interest accumulating was very little. Also, he did not have a will, power of attorney, or health care power of attorney. So his family would have had a very difficult time helping him if he needed it or if something happened to him. At the time, we were in a cycle of the markets that would probably create a great loss for him, in the types of accounts he was holding, if there was a downturn in the economy. The other thing the jumped completely off the page was the enormous loss of income this man was losing. We sat down to discuss his affairs, and I explained in detail what he currently owned and how it worked. He had 10 different accounts. I explained the risk associated with the types of accounts he had, and since he was now retired he needed to consider locking in the gains and securing his principal. Next, I explained to John that he would have only one account and that account would give him an income of over 5% for the rest of his life and pass directly to his beneficiaries after his death. I also explained how he could also name some of his beloved charities that he wanted to receive monies at the end of his life. Last, I sent him to an attorney to have his will made and a power of attorney drafted in the event he needed it; he was guided on how to make those decisions. After about a month, I called him back into my office explaining that he no longer had

to worry about the markets or money. He would be getting a monthly check and that his principal would be guaranteed. John was so very happy. He had one account and one person to call with questions. He never dreamed that he could get that much income or that he could secure his principal. All of his affairs were now in order and he had a will, a power of attorney, and peace of mind.

“I looked at John’s accounts that he thought he had about $350,000 in and quickly realized he really had about $850,000 at the current market value.”

My office continues to get phone calls, emails, and little visits from John saying he is enjoying life so much more now. He tells me of trips he can now take to visit his grandchildren, and that when his daughter came to visit he took them all to Disney World. He can go buy the seafood he loves or go out to eat with his friends whenever he wants. This is what makes everything I do and all 30 + years in this business worthwhile! Thank you John for also giving me the gift of knowing we changed a wonderful person’s life and touched your family in so many ways. If you have a question you would like to ask me never hesitate to call. No questions will go unanswered; all questions you have are important. Reach out to me directly at 727-459-4875. Bob Kay: “Why you can’t miss the AIMExpo”

For the past three years the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando hosts the American International Motorcycle Expo, or AIMExpo for short. This year, the event held its first ever garage party show featuring custom bike competition, live music, displays of V-twin motorcycles past and present, along with the most radical designs you’ve ever seen outside of Mad Max. The AIMExpo also features world-class exhibitors and representatives of all the major motorcycle manufacturers and custom bike

builders such as S & S Cycles, Johnny Pag Motor Company, Standard Motor Company and dozens more! We interviewed Bob Kay, the AIMExpo V-Twin director and we also checked out the unbelievable stunning futuristic motorcycle designs from custom motorcycle innovators RK Concepts. Debbie Galletti: Bob, I’ve been telling everyone about you all day and now finally I’ve caught up with you! I know you’re busy. For three years now, AIMExpo has

been coming here to the Orange County Convention Center, but this is your first year! What inspired you to join this group? Bob Kay: Mike Webster and Larry Little had the vision of AIMExpo in the first place. The timing with this this time of year combined with the outdoors of the trade and consumer event. However, Mike and Larry knew they weren’t familiar with the intricacies of the V-Twin market; I’ve only been doing that for the last four decades! So they invited me to come and visit with them at the offices. BORNTORIDE.COM | BTR 45

Great team, great group of people! I was really excited to join. So, last year I spent checking it out. This year, we have the ‘Made in America’ section, the ‘Championship of the Americas’ where we are going to send somebody to compete in Germany at the world championship, and a garage party for all of the consumers coming in on Saturday and Sunday. So, really, motorcycles are my passion! To be involved with this team and this group; we’re now a part of the Motorcycle Industry Council (MIC)! Who could ask for anything better! It’s the dream job and it’s BTR 46 | BORNTORIDE.COM

unbelievable! Debbie: And you put that correctly. You’ve been in this industry and business for decades. What does AIM bring to the table year after year that’s just so inviting and exciting? Bob: Well, I think it’s the platform that is really receptive. They listen to the exhibitors, and they listen to the dealers. And now being a part of the MIC and their drive that they have opened up a dealership membership level, the major OEMs – they are willing to change and listen and do what’s best for the industry. And probably one of the coolest

things about being a part of the MIC is that they are non-for-profit, they’ve been around over 100 years fighting for our rights to ride our motorcycles and do what we want. Now everything that we do at AIMExpo, in terms of initiatives and profit, goes right back to the motorcycle industries. So, how can it be better than that? Debbie: The exhibitors out there right now are phenomenal! Their displays are great! School us a bit on the OEM. Bob: OEM is your Original Equipment Manufacturer. For example, Harley, Yamaha,

Polaris, Honda, etc. They operate at a very high level. And what’s unique about the timing of this show is that most of their new product debuts are in the fall because they are getting ready for the season; they want a little input and feedback. So with this timing, we’re able to debut many new models. But not only new models on that level, but they can also come back to the small parts manufacturers and the after-market companies for items like exhaust and wheels. It’s a chance for all the media to be here. Thursday and Friday were just trade days. The stage we’re on is the center of

the media hub, and the product presentations and the new model debuts all day long! It’s a great opportunity to get so much done in a short amount of time. Debbie: This has a lot of international flare. Companies are here from everywhere! Bob: Oh, absolutely! I’ve been involved with the American Motorcycle Dealer (AMD) and the world championship. One of my side projects and dream is to have Team American to go over to Cologne, Germany, and INTERMOT (biennial trade show for motorcycle manufacturers), and compete

Championship of the Americas Info, Call Bob Kay 817-312-0380

for the world championship. 2012 was the last year we had the world championship in Sturgis and we qualified two Americans then to go over. 2013 was the Harley Museum show for the 110th anniversary. HarleyDavidson kindly supported that so that gave us three members. You don’t build a world championship competition bike in six or eight weeks; it takes time. So we allow these guys to take the time to put these bikes together. None of those competitors have made it over to Germany so they are ready to go. This year the winner of the Freestyle BORNTORIDE.COM | BTR 47

AIMExpo Championship of the Americas will qualify. So next September, INTERMOT AMD Championship of the Americas will have four American builders going to compete and show the world what they can do. The builders have really come through for me. I know a lot of the builders. But they had to make an extreme effort. They drove through the night to be here. We don’t have that luxury of coming in late at this show; you can tell with this type of show we have time limits. They all made it here on time.

Our capacity is for 50 bikes and we have 50 bikes! Just to let you know they types of builders we have here; we had to wait until the carpet was put down and the risers were set up. It took a lot of effort to put them up there. It wasn’t an easy task! They all stayed all night to help me get them up. We had a little pizza and beer and knocked it out. I couldn’t be happier from the support and response I’ve gotten from these builders. It’s incredible! Debbie: Bob, why would someone want to be

Championship of the Americas Info, Call Bob Kay 817-312-0380

involved in this expo? What would you want to tell them on how to get involved? Bob: Well, part of my charge is to increase the attendance. But that’s just a two-fold job; Thursday and Friday during the trade days, we need all the dealers here. In order for the industry to grow in the proper direction, we need that input from the dealers. It’s these opportunities for the dealers to get educated and tracked by the power sports institute, for us to get the feedback of what they want. And again, that’s why AIMExpo has been so BORNTORIDE.COM | BTR 49

successful in three short years because we are very receptive. And with more dealers coming, the better exhibitors feel, the more the exhibitors we will have! It’s that catch 22; it keeps rolling along. And of course, it’s really that same extension when it comes to the consumer days because the high end and manufacturer guys don’t always get that chance to meet directly with the consumers. So you’ll find, when you come and attend, that it’s a lot of fun and a great show. You are

there to express what you like and what you don’t like, your riding style, where you would like to see the industry grow. As a part of the AIMExpo and the MIC it’s about the future of motorcycling. If you’re here at AIMExpo, either the dealer level or the consumer level, you can help that grown in the direction it needs to go. Debbie: Sounds like a win-win-for everyone! How do they get in touch with you to learn more about AIMExpo?

ON THE SET Q & A WITH MOVIE DIRECTOR

THOMAS J CHURCHILL

THOMAS J CHURCHILL IS CREATING QUITE A BUZZ AS ONE OF THE HOTTEST RISING DIRECTORS IN THE MOVIE BUSINESS. WE CAUGHT UP WITH HIM FOR A BORN TO RIDE Q&A AND HERE IS WHAT HE HAD TO SAY. weird. Something strange used to happen when my father would cover my eyes on the nude scenes or even the graphic, intense blood scenes. Those scenes of horror would be magnified more to my ears than what was really happening on the screen. It used to scare the hell out of me! I guess that’s why I love horror and thrillers so much. They don’t just give you great stories with the visuals, but the sound is equally present with music and sound effects—a character unto itself. Look at Hitchcock’s Psycho, Vertigo, Rear Window or Spielberg’s JAWS, Indiana Jones, ET, Close Encounters ... try watching all of those films with the sound muted. It won’t have the same effect.

Tell us a little about your history in film making? I guess I can go back to my childhood, it was the original Star Wars Episode IV. My father introduced me to the world of cinema some years prior to that film, but it was that movie that called to me. I wanted to be on the screen ... in that world. It was one of the first films that made me forget everything about the real world, and I was caught up in this space fantasy. From then, I had this acting bug that I needed to explore. My parents took me to acting showcases and I did school plays, but that never seemed to be enough until I had this crazy dream to create my own film and showcase my talents as an actor. I never did this before. In my neighborhood at this time in my life it was so unheard of. Technology wasn’t even present for this craft as it is today. It was just something in my gut that I needed to do. I convinced my father to buy me a fullsize VHS (popular at the time) camcorder

which of course I had to get a part-time job to pay him back with. I wrote a script. Drafted friends and family and shot my first film at 17 years old. The War Master was my first feature. I submitted it into a festival and won. Something magic happened in making that film, the process of filmmaking was more important to me than my acting was. I fell hard for this love. Funny, recently with the release of my current film Lazarus: Apocalypse, I had included that film on the same DVD.

As a child what influenced you to do what you do, and when did you know you were going to make movies? Hitchcock, Spielberg were my influences. My father pretty much introduced me to all sorts of films from action to horror. I used to get rewarded by going to the movies if I did well in school. I sat in the darkness and was sucked into that silver screen feeling the energy of each picture I watched. It was

Who are your top three movie producers and directors of all time? To me, directors would be Alfred Hitchcock, Steven Spielberg, and Orson Wells; for producers, Walt Disney, Steven Spielberg, and Jerry Bruckheimer. One day, I hope to

be added to this list. When someone asks a film student or a random film fan that question—that would be amazing. Your top five movies of all time? That’s a tough question. I have categories. Action, would be Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Die Hard, Beverly Hills Cop, and Rocky/Rambo series. For Drama: The Godfather trilogy, Ghost, Citizen Cain, The Passion of the Christ, and Easy Rider. For Horror: Psycho, The Exorcist, Friday the 13th series, the Halloween series, and The Nightmare on Elm Street Series. How’s that for a top five.

2015 Check Point is a great film. Tell us what to look out for with this movie? “CHECK POINT” is a story about truth, justice, and the American way of life all told within a classic styled action/thriller. Port City, North Carolina: During a routine camp out, a local vagrant discovers plans for an invasion in America. When he tries to notify the local sheriff about his discovery, the sheriff dismisses his claims and has him locked up for loitering. When the sheriff notices odd interactions with other town’s folk, he begins to look into the vagrant’s claim of a sleeper cell living amongst the locals within this small town. After evidence of a beheading is exposed, others begin to fear the insurgents attack on hometown USA. Questions and tempers begin to rise. Why this little beach

community with its Norman Rockwell way of life? Why choose a town where everyone knows one another ... or so they thought. When the truth is blind and justice seems lost, it will take an army of five unlikely heroes banding together to infiltrate the insurgents and foil their invasion plans. War is hell and hell comes home at the Check Point. I believe it is scheduled for a theatrical release in 2016.

You hooked up with Born To Ride and Ron Galletti who has produced 1,050 TV episodes of BTR. What’s going on with this relationship and why? I was introduced to Ron Galletti by a mutual friend of ours, the talented and beautiful Krista Grotte. I had the privilege to have worked with her on my last three films, Lazarus: Apocalypse, The Emerging Past and the upcoming Check Point. Krista, who also worked with Ron as a host for his successful television series Born To Ride. We were at the 20th Anniversary celebration for Born To Ride, together promoting Check Point, when we all started to talk about something that is very important to all of us, motorcycles. Ron mentioned that he would love to see a certain style film project. He had asked would I ever do a Bike film. I glanced over at Krista, whom I just pitched a project to, and stated yes I can marry the two concepts that have been brewing inside my head. We then started speaking about the possibilities of the scope of this project. We all began to get really excited about it. I flew back home to Los Angeles and the entire trip my mind was racing. I started to put pen to pad and submitted my outline for a project for us all to be involved with. Nation’s Fire was born. Nation’s Fire, the word is getting out and you said it’s something you are very excited about. Why? Nation’s Fire is an action film. It’s a thriller AND it will be the definitive biker film. A film

Casting Call: go to www.Facebook.com/NationsFire, tell us why you should be in the movie.

that will touch on everything that important to bikers as well as people. It is planned to grab your heart strings and not let go until the last frame of the film. We are hoping to shoot this film this coming summer in and around the Tampa, Florida area with a 2017 release. I’m very excited about this project, very excited to work with Ron Galletti and the Born To Ride family as well as working with the very gifted, and talented Krista Grotte again who will star in this action/ suspense-thriller. What inspires you and what would you say to anyone who want to do what you do? People inspire me. My father inspired me. My mother ... and family and friends inspire me. The film business is a hard business. You need thick skin and a focused heart. Never let anyone derail you from your focus. Set that goal and stay with it. Make no mistake, there will be tough times ... many sacrifices ... many heartaches. If you want it or anything bad enough ... stay focused and it will come. If you build it, they will come. Great line from a great film Field of Dreams.

Your future and Last words? I hope I am around a long time in this business, continuing to do what I love to do—tell stories and entertain the world. One day this journey will end for me. If I can inspire and teach someone something of my journey it would be this ... Never give up. Never quit. Stay focused and be the best you can be in anything or whatever life path you choose. Stay humble. Stay real. Remember the path that got you to where you’re at. Remember the people who cheered for you. Stay true to you. Appreciate the things that come your way— the good and the bad. Angels are Real

I had a yard sale this weekend. I put signs out on the main drag and the other streets to direct people in. Just before it got totally dark, I jumped into the old Dodge pickup to go retrieve the signs. I was at my 3rd stop (on RT 60 & Jerry Smith) when the truck ran out of gas. I’m standing in the turn lane realizing that I would have to walk back to the shop to get an empty gas can, and then walk back to the corner of Turkey Creek and 60 to get some fuel and then walk back to the truck. By this time it was dark. I swear to you, I could not believe what happens next. This isn’t Winslow Arizona – but a girl in a Ford Expedition rolls down her window at the stop sign and asks me “what’s wrong.” “I’m outta gas” I replied. So she says “Come on, I will give you a ride.” “Lemme see if I have my gas can.” After a short search, I realized that the can was not in my truck. Knowing that I had run out of luck, I just walked to the passenger side of this really nice truck and got in. Oh my God in heaven, I looked at her and she was absolutely beautiful!! Long blonde hair, perfectly dressed, hot body, and to top it all off she was within my wheel-house of maturity. I am really surprised that a woman of this stature and elegance would even stop and look at an old ‘scooter-trash’ looking dude like me much less actually wait around and piss people off at a busy intersection while I took the time to look for my gas can. But she did, and evidently she is very brave. After a short introduction and some small talk she asked me which gas station I wanted to go to – the RaceTrac or the Sunoco. So naturally I said, “RaceTrac.” She told me that after she picked up her friend on the other end of the road she would give me a ride back to the disabled hillbilly truck. She went out of her way to drop me off at the gas station, and I reminded her that she was truly an ‘Angel’ for giving me a ride. When I went inside the store, I searched for a gas can. Yeah, there was only one left. $12.99 plus tax which equals almost all I made in the last two days of the yard sale. But I was on a mission to get the truck back, knowing that the battery would be dead soon because I had left the parking lights on. Anyhow, when I get to the counter a girl that I’ve seen in my frequent visits to the store (which is also very cute and extremely nice) is wondering why I am buying a gas can. I asked “Do y’all rent these?” to which she replied – “No, they aren’t for rent.” But she would go check her car to see if she had one that I could borrow. This was yet another effort by someone to help me with a problem, with no expectation of recompense. She

returned and apologized, which was not necessary and I paid for the can and headed to the gas pumps after telling her the story of the beautiful angel that had given me a ride. “I saw her drop you off and I thought maybe she was your girlfriend or wife.” “I wish” is all I could say, and we both laughed. I get a few dollars worth of gas and started hoofing it back down 60 toward the truck. A fellow in a pickup truck stops and says “Man, I heard the story about you running out of gas, and I actually saw that hot girl that dropped you off, so if you want me to, I will drive you back to your truck – just in case she doesn’t come back to get you.” I accepted the ride and the man even offered to hang for a minute just to make sure that I could get it started. I thanked him profusely and told him that I was very appreciative. We conversed about the ‘paying it forward’ thing just like the beautiful girl that brought me there did, and of course, I also told him that he was also an angel unaware. I poured the gas in the tank leaving just a little to dump into the carburetor for good measure. After grinding the battery to the point of death, she finally fired up and as usual the old worn out hillbilly Dodge didn’t let me down. It’s been a very long road with me and that truck. I picked up my signs and went home. This isn’t a fabrication or fantasy by any stretch of the imagination. This is a TRUE story that you should ALL take heed to. I don’t care if you believe in God or whatever deity it is that you worship. It’s none of my business. I can tell you this; there are good angels walking this earth, paying it forward every day that they live and breathe. Personally, I try to help people whenever I can, and I am not prophesizing or preaching here so don’t get the wrong idea. But do yourself one favor – help people if you can. Your reward may not come immediately, so have faith and push on. In the end, it doesn’t really matter, but you only take with you what you have put in. Here’s the kicker. That beautiful woman did come back to look for me, she slowed down, got into the turn lane and after seeing me pouring gas into the tank she just blew the horn and drove away. It is what it is, but I believe that you should take every opportunity that presents itself to you. Perhaps I should have been more patient and had a little more faith in humanity, but alas I did not. Sometimes it is hard to make the right decision based upon faith alone, but I did accomplish the mission and made it back home intact. My agent called to get me booked for some gigs coming up in the near future. I told her this story. She may not be impressed, but she questioned me about why I didn’t get this girl’s phone number. I should have. I learn something every day and my faith in people has been restored to a great extent. Angels are everywhere regardless of your religion. … Everything happens for a reason I suppose. But if anyone knows who this beautiful angel is, then let her know that she has a fan that would love to repay her in so many ways. Later that evening. … The woman somehow tracked me down. I was in my shop, working on an old computer when I saw a truck pull in. It was her! I went over to the window and she, in a sweet as sugar voice asked me if I would mind checking on what the strange ticking sound in the motor was. I of course obliged and after she opened the hood, I began examining the motor. The truck was so tall that I had to sort of get up on the front tire and lean under the hood. I had only been under there for about 20 seconds when something moving behind me startled me and I glanced over to see her standing behind me. All of a sudden, she began pulling on my leg, just like I’m pulling yours! CRAVEN

Spyke & Mike

“It’s That Time of the Year Folks.”

It’s over, my BTR friends. I’m so glad to be done seeing all you crazy humans acting like little kids, drinking too much egg nog, and going way overboard dressing up as imaginary characters yelling crazy stuff like HO, HO, HO and Merry Christmas—especially Mike. He wore that silly mask for a week and walked up to strangers saying, “Santa goes to the beach for a vacation after his long night’s work!” As usual for this time of year, Mike has given me a list of New Year’s resolutions he plans on making and holding. If you know him like I do, you can expect most of them to fail by the end of February. This year, I even have a few of my own that I’ll let ya’ll in on. But let’s get started with his first. Like most people, he has the best intentions when coming to resolutions. He actually did well with the weight loss resolutions from last year. But I’m not sure if it was because he got tired of hearing how he was a fat slob and a lazy good-for-nothing person by close friends. And now ex-girlfriend or his doctor telling him that he was going to die if he didn’t change his ways of eating and lifestyle. Either way, here we go. They are followed with my ever keen and witty birds-eye view interpretations. 1. I will keep my opinions to myself. I’m tired of sticking my foot in my mouth and not shutting up causing it to go further down my throat. I reply, “OK, I know this one will be an epic FAIL ‘cause he has a bad habit of speaking before thinking and not knowing when to stop. In Mike’s case, that’s never pretty!” 2. I will no longer waste my time reliving the past, instead I will spend more time planning for the future. I respond, “Planning on what? Screwing it up?”

3. I will read those self-help and how to improve my memory books my ex ex-girlfriend got me two years ago. As soon as I remember where I put them and before I start doing my 12-ounce curls. I cackle, “I think he should have read the ones his mom gave him five years ago and he wouldn’t have so many exes.” 4. I am going to be more decisive. I’ll absolutely try to attempt to think about resolving to be more decisive, if I possibly can. I squawk, “Oh brother! I don’t know why he goes there. He is just so wishy-washy. He’s worse than clothing rolling around in the washing machine!” 5. I will stop pretending it’s not time to take out the garbage or do laundry by repeatedly smashing it down in the trash can or hamper until my arms ache. I babble, “Really Mike? It might even smell better around the house also!” 6. I will stop sending texts, emails, tweets, and Facebook posts to people who are in the same room as me. I blurt out, “Well Mike, it was a great thing that you got a smart phone for your birthday, and now you want to show all your friends and loved ones you were the last holdout with a flip phone and pager. But I’ve heard that they are starting to miss the old you and that flip phone!” 7. I will not hit ‘reply all’ when sending a private message. I belch out, “Maybe then you will be able to keep a relationship going longer than a couple of months, just sayin’!” 8. I will not stay in my bedroom, sit in front of the computer in my underwear for hours looking at mindless junk on the internet. I chirp in, “I must say, you’ve already put some effort into this one. He’s moved the computer out to the lanai, stands there in his swim trunks, and says he’s on a conference call with clients. Actually he’s just staring at pictures on Facebook and making up stories for BTR.” 9. I will figure out why I have 10 email addresses, delete the ones that were created in a drunken stupor, and change all the passwords to something other than password. I bark out, “Then nobody will be able to send you anything unless it’s by snail mail.” 10. I will quit making the same excuses that I can’t keep. I’m sure to you, BTR readers, it’s getting pretty old. I’ll just have to pay more attention to the dumb things I do this year and make new resolutions for next year! I spread my wings out and screech, “Well that’s great Mike, I need some new writing material for upcoming articles!” As for my New Year’s resolutions: I, Spyke, will listen to, pretend to like, and believe in your resolutions Mike. Nor will I make fun of, reveal the true meaning of your writing, or point out to the BTR readers what an idiotic, blonde biker lunatic that you are. He blurts out, “Wow Spyke, you would do that for me? That’s great! I want to reward you with a ride on the scoot.” He picks me up, takes me out to the garage and plops my feathered ass on the back of the bike. He then gets my wings in the wind and the Fat Bird’s wheels down the road. Under my breath I murmur, “Yeah, right, he really IS a blonde.” SPYKE
