GAME OVER CYCLES WINS BEST PAINT AWARD IN GERMANY

At the Custombike-Show, world's biggest trade fair for customized bikes organized annually in Germany, Polish company Game Over Cycles won in one of categories of Bikeshow – event's main contest for the best bikes presented at the fair. Created by Polish workshop Cheyenne Bike “The Recidivist” was honored with the “Best Paint/Airbrush” award. The Cheyenne Bike, The Recidivist is a motorcycle created in devotion to the traditions of the modern motorcycle industry and the human culture of the artistic world of tattoos. Motorbikes are commonly adorned with tattoo motifs using an airbrush, however the uniqueness of Cheyenne Bike, The Recidivist lies in the fact that the bike's entire BTR 4 | BORNTORIDE.COM

construction is covered in tattooed skin branded directly onto the bike's tires, tanks, seat, rear fender, lamp and many other smaller elements. Light colored cow hide leather - similar to the color of human skin - is engineered onto the bike. Two Polish tattoo artists, Tomasz Lech from Individuum tattoo studio and Krzysztof Królak from Steel Will Tattoo-Factory applied traditional works of tattoo art onto the bike. All of that makes The Recidivist world's first tattooed motorcycle. The bike had its premiere in September 2014 at the London International Tattoo Convention - the most prestigious body adornment convention in the world. Custombike-Show 2014 was held at the beginning of December (12/05/2014 –

12/07/2014). According to organizers' information, the event is world's biggest fair for customized bikes. Organized annually in German city of Bad Salzuflen the event covers the space of 28,000 sqm (4 buildings) and gathers 330 exhibitors as well as 800 custom bikes. PROPER FOLLOWING DISTANCE

There’s no question when you’re following a fire truck or other emergency vehicle-if it says, “Stay back 500 feet,” in big letters across the rear bumper, it means “Stay back.” Determining the proper following distance behind regular automobiles, in normal day-to-day traffic, takes slightly more care on your part. As a general rule, on good road surfaces in ideal conditions, you should maintain a minimum two-second space cushion between yourself and any vehicle in front of you. Two seconds

of space should allow enough time to respond accordingly if the vehicle ahead makes a sudden stop. In order to establish the two-second space cushion use a technique called “fixed-object count off.” To do this, pick a fixed object ahead of you- street signs or light poles work well, as a painted roadway lines. As soon as the vehicle in front of you passes the object, count off: “one-thousand-one, one-thousand-two ...” If you haven’t yet reached the fixed object by the time

Attorney Fran M. Haasch isn’t just our attorney, she’s yours as well! 1-866-LAW-FRAN

you finish your two-second count, your following distance meets the two-second minimum. Note the word “minimum.” Two seconds is the minimum safe distance to maintain sufficient reaction time. The greater your following distance (there is no rule that reads you must be exactly two seconds behind), the more time you will have to smoothly respond to a situation.

Tom Anderson is a household name in the inner circles of the motorcycle builder community. Over the years, Born To Ride has featured motorcycle creations of Tom, who we affectionately call him ‘Tommy.’ Most of you know Boss Hoss motorcycles are big and mean... truth be told, they are intimidating to the average rider. This month’s cover shows the innovative genius of Tommy Anderson and his business partner Steve Lamb. They have created a Boss Hoss that is still mean, minus the big and heavy look. We caught up with their public relations person for a little background and history of Tommy, Steve, and the 2011 BTR 18 | BORNTORIDE.COM

Custom Boss. Steve Lamb is the owner of five new car dealerships— three in Crystal River, one in Brooksville, and one in Inverness. The dealerships are Chevrolet, Chrysler, Jeep, Nissan, and Crystal Motorsports. The Motorsports store handles all trade-ins on motorcycles, muscle cars, hot rods, and exotic cars. We keep around 10 Harley’s in the shop, extra clean with low mileage, all the time. Steve and Tom Anderson, an automotivemotorcycle artist and designer, have been together for 12 years. Their twin engine

Big won Best of Show at the Rats Hole in Daytona.... The grand prize for winning the Rats Hole Best of Show is a trip to Germany. One of our bikes has been on the cover of five national magazines. The 2011 Boss Hoss has air ride suspension, so Tom and master fabricator Kirk Hum redesigned all sheet metal—from fiberglass to steel. We built a dash shell to replace the gas tank and built a new tank. The 6.5-gallon tank went under the seat. We used ‘67 Chevy truck dash; the tach and all gauges are carbon fiber. We do some high-end shows, so Tom wanted a car with a bike theme. Since

we sell a lot of Corvettes, we put a little Corvette theme in this bike. It has ‘58 Corvette side panels in the dash cover, ‘57 Corvette taillight bezels with ‘59 Cadillac taillights. The bike sports a 2011 Corvette LS3 430 motor, fuel injection, and tow speed transmission with reverse. This bike has air ride shocks with an electric pump. The rear fender is hand built with custom taillights; the fuel rail covers and front air intake covers are aluminum. The side cover is hand built with Corvette emblems. To finish off the build we put on custom wheels— 300-rear tire x 18 inch and 90/130 x 16 in front.

Scan Code to see this Motorcycle come to life Q. Steve, tell us about your Boss Hoss. A. We started with a LS3 kit and did a lot of modifications including relocating the fuel cell in front of the rear tire. This change gave the bike a much lower center of gravity causing it to handle more like a road racer.

Q. Tell us about the relationship with Tommy Anderson. A. My relationship with Tommy goes back some 16 years. He has always been a blast to work with, and has great sense of vision when we are on a major project.

Q. Tell us about your business. You have BTR 22 | BORNTORIDE.COM

several car dealerships, how can you help someone looking for a new car or truck? A. We currently have three Chrysler Jeep Dodge and Ram dealerships. We also have Chevrolet and Nissan, and over 400 used vehicles to choose from. See all of them at crystalautos.com. In addition we have a Buy Here Pay Here lot and our Mototsports operation.

Q. Your Crystal Motorsports location is one of a kind man cave, tell us about it? A. Our Motorsports operation really evolved from a building where I store my antique cars and motorcycles. We have managed to

fill it up with lots of memorabilia and some one-of-a-kind custom cars and bikes. Q. When you are riding down the road on your Boss Hoss, how do you feel? A. I love riding my new Boss Hoss and enjoy all the attention it gets. I really have enjoyed working with the staff at Born to Ride, best of luck to all of you! Steve Lamb

And now a few words from Tommy (Godfather) Anderson Q. Tommy, tell us about the new Boss Hoss you built for Steve Lamb.

Q. Tell us about your relationship with Steve. He is a very busy guy but still finds time to be a family man, ride his bike, and do charity events in the community.

Q. In the past, you have built bikes for Gary Grubbs (Deadwood Bike); you are a Hamster and friends with Arlen Ness what’s next for Tommy Anderson?

A. Steve and I have been together for 16 years. We have shown bikes in South Carolina; Sturgis, South Dakota; Daytona, Miami and South Beach, FL. Steve has seven dealerships and we have two big car shows each year—one Corvette show and

We’re inviting you to experience a pivotal moment for the Motor Company. Just like this country, Harley-Davidson has reinvented itself at many turns in our 111-year history – this is another moment in our journey. Join us to celebrate the exciting launch of Harley-Davidson’s first electric motorcycle - Project LiveWire™.

BTR 26 | BORNTORIDE.COM

“It was like going to Disney World and being excited about a new ride and when I was riding it,

Harley-Davidson (NYSE:HOG) reveals Project LiveWire – the first Harley-Davidson® electric motorcycle. In keeping with the company’s customer-led product development approach, starting next week select consumers across the country will be able to ride and provide feedback on the bike, helping to shape the future of Harley-Davidson’s first-ever electric motorcycle. While not immediately for sale, Project LiveWire is specifically designed for the purpose of getting insight into rider expectations of an electric Harley-Davidson motorcycle. “America at its best has always been about reinvention,” said Matt Levatich, President and Chief Operating Officer, Harley-Davidson Motor Company. “And, like America, Harley-Davidson has reinvented itself many times in our history, with customers leading us every step of the way. Project LiveWire is another exciting, customer-led moment in our history.” Spurred by this heritage, the Project LiveWire Experience invites customers to test ride, provide feedback and learn more about the story of the motorcycle. Even those who don’t yet ride will have the opportunity to feel the power of Project LiveWire through Jumpstart – a simulated riding experience. A 2014 U.S. tour – kicking off with a journey down Route 66 – will visit more than 30 Harley-Davidson dealerships now through the end of the year. In 2015, the Project LiveWire Experience will continue in the U.S. and expand into Canada and Europe. It was Disney World.”

Ron Galletti

“This builds on many recent reinvention successes for Harley-Davidson,” said Levatich. “In just the last few years, we’ve broadened our reach to serve an increasingly diverse society, as well as reinvented our approach to product development and manufacturing. This has resulted in cutting-edge products like the recently launched Project Rushmore touring bikes, Harley-Davidson Street 500 and 750 models and this reveal of Project LiveWire.” An Innovative Approach to Advance the Possibilities of Personal Freedom This exciting new ride blends the company’s styling heritage with the latest technology to deliver a new expression of the signature Harley-Davidson look, sound and feel. “Project LiveWire is more like the first electric guitar – not an electric car,” said Mark-Hans Richer, Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, Harley-Davidson Motor Company. “It’s an expression of individuality and iconic style that just happens to be electric. Project LiveWire is a bold statement for us as a company and a brand.” The bike offers a visceral riding experience with tire-shredding acceleration and an unmistakable new sound. “The sound is a distinct part of the thrill,” said Richer. “Think fighter jet on an aircraft carrier. Project LiveWire’s unique sound was designed to differentiate it from internal combustion and other electric motorcycles on the market.” LiveWire information visit us at: H-D.com

H-D Invites Consumers to Ride, React and Shape the Future of this New Bike.

Longer term plans for retail availability of Project LiveWire will be influenced by feedback from riders along the Project LiveWire Experience tour. “We offer a no excuses riding experience in everything we do and we are led by what our customers tell us matters most,” said Richer. “Because electric vehicle technology is evolving rapidly, we are excited to learn more from riders through the Project LiveWire Experience to fully understand the definition of success in this market as the technology continues to evolve.” Helping Preserve and Renew the Freedom to Ride for Generations As riding in the great outdoors is one of the best elements of motorcycling, sustainability remains a core strategic focus at Harley-Davidson. “Preserving the riding environment is important to all of us,” said Levatich. “Project LiveWire is just one element in our efforts to preserve and renew the freedom to ride for generations to come. As a company that has seen success for 111 years, we think in generational terms about our great riding environments for the next 111 years.” Fans can learn more about Project LiveWire, as well as specific dates and locations for Project LiveWire Experience stops at projectlivewire.com. During Biketoberfest, Born To Ride wanted to do an industry report on one of the most practical and needed accessories ever seen for the Harley-Davidson motorcycle; LoveJugs Cool Master Engine Fans. Everyone knows how Harleys run hot and these amazing quick-install devices are the answer to all over-heating problems. As a demonstration, Love-Jugs had a Harley motorcycle running idle for 10-12 hours constantly – morning to night – without shutting it off! Never did it overheat and in fact, it ran 100 degrees cooler than normal thanks to the Love-Jugs Cool Master System. Ron: So Rich, we’re here at Love-Jugs knocking it out of the park, man! What do you think? Rich Renaud, Sales and Marketing Director of Love-Jugs: We’ve been installing bikes since 8 a.m. this morning. We had guys waiting for us. We’ve got them lined up about seven-deep and we already have a bunch scheduled for tomorrow. It’s going tremendous and we’re very, very happy with the way it’s going.

We’re already sold out of our cool master line and have a few left of the others. It’s been a great two-days here so far! It’s going fantastic, the product is terrific. The biggest thing is that we’re showing the people how hot a motorcycle can get and when you turn these Love-Jugs on how cool it can keep your motor; between 100 and 115 degrees cooler than it should be. Keep your oil pressure up where it should be, it’s just a fantastic product that we’re really excited about the whole thing. The Harley-Davidson product has always had a hot-running motor and they are trying to correct it by doing water-cooling and everything else. It’s still a hot-running motor. I think we have the only product in the world that will actually cool down that motor between 100 and 115 degrees and not have to have fancy oil coolers and things like that. It does a great job on the hottest part of the motor where it should do. Rick Cook, Vice President of Distribution I’m the kind of guy where you have to prove

Mention Born To Ride and receive $25 off your order.

to me that certain things work. So I bought a pair of Love-Jugs and I bought a pair of Super Cool Minis when they came out and I’ve got no more heating issues, no more oil temperature issues with my bike. I have Ultras and a motorcade service bike that I use for escorts. It’s dropped the oil temperatures on the bikes and also dropped the cylinder head temperatures and the bikes are running a lot cooler. I don’t have any more heating issues with my lady friend that rides with me on the back. It’s just a great product. I can’t speak enough about it for the simple reason I farm for a living and I’m a firm believer that a product has to be proven to me. And this product has proved to me enough that I got involved with the Love-Jugs brand and helped bring it to the market and get exposure for it because I feel like it’s a need everybody has that owns a Harley bike. There’s enough 3-3.5 million bikes across the United States and around the world that are sold that have heating issues. When you do fuel changes on your bike or exhaust changes on your bike, you think those BORNTORIDE.COM | BTR 45

changes are going to help. But you still have a cylinder head heating issue, an oil heating issue, the Screaming Eagle – some of the bikes are experiencing heating issues. Here at Biketoberfest, we’ve probably done about 70 installs. I would recommend LoveJugs because it’s a non-failure item. It’s a water-proof, stainless steel, chrome-plated item that you’re not going to have any rust, you’re not going to have any deterioration. These fans don’t have a lot of weight so we went to a Grade A System recommendation after talking with bikers, Dave, Steve, and myself and have developed a bullet-proof system that will cool your bike. Steve West, Chief Executive Officer of Love-Jugs Hi, I’m Steve West, and I’m the CEO of Love-Jugs. We are doing unbelievably well. People love them! They are buying them, we are installing them, and it’s been non-stop all day long! We’ve been here for three days now and the biggest thing is the Harley that will not get hot. We’ve got that running nine hours today and it was running nine hours Thursday and Friday as well. People gather around amazed thinking it’s BTR 46 | BORNTORIDE.COM

crazy to be running a Harley at idle for nine hours. You just can’t do it! It will burn up! But the temperature has kept under 250 at the end of the day, the first day was 246, the second day was 248. So that Harley is just refusing to get hot under these conditions with the hot sun beating down on it! It’s phenomenal! I’m very gratified that we’ve worked long and hard to get Love-Jugs up to the point where we have it now. We’ve sent to customers all over the world and every continent except Antarctica – I’m not expecting to send one to Antarctica – but they are going to Dubai and Kuwait, all over Europe, South America, Central America and everywhere across the United States. And Canada is a very big market that surprises me because it’s cooler up there most of the time. But these guys in Canada say ‘We are going on trips and our bikes run hot. We want the Love-Jugs!’ We’ve opened up dealers now. We’ve opened up some of the largest dealers in the country. Rossmeyer’s — we just opened up. We’re here at their show; San Diego Harley-Davidson we just opened up last week — J & P Distributor we just opened up … and we’ve never, ever solicited a Harley-Davidson dealer! What

happens is our customers are so excited about the different transformation that LoveJugs makes on their bike, that they go to these Harley dealers and they say, ‘Hey look what we’re doing! Look what this is doing to my bike!’ Harley dealers or J & P gets in touch with us and it’s a lot more powerful for our ability to sell when they are coming to you and want your product. Just get in touch with me directly at: steve@love-jugs.com. Be sure to put the dash between love and jugs. I will call them if they give me a phone number. I will be happy to speak with them in any way, shape or form anytime. I’m 75 years old and Dave is 63 years old. There was an old-fashioned way of doing business with a handshake, and trust and having a relationship. If you look on our website, you look at the testimonial section. There you’ll see person after person saying, ‘greatest product ever,’ ‘great service,’ we’ve never dealt with a company that has great service like you!’ So, we are good to deal with. We give a 30-day money back guarantee – no questions asked. So on top of the warranty, if you don’t like the Love-Jugs for any reason whatsoever, you don’t like them, you ran out of money, your wife doesn’t

like them, your dog is barking at them … you can send them back and I will give you 100% of your money back AND I’ll pay for the postage coming back. Obviously, we don’t get a lot of returns. Ron: So you can run that motorcycle all day and it won’t overheat? Tell me about that! Dave Sandel, Love-Jugs: I can run it all day because it’s cool. You have the cooling on this so the engine will never get hot. And we have a gauge set up over there that will show you that the engine is not overheating. Of course you can’t do that with a regular

Harley. It will just seize right up if you leave it there idling for a long time. But with the Love-Jugs, you don’t have that problem. Why worry about sitting in traffic and all that, you know? Why worry about the engine being hot all the time? Put them on and be over it! Love-Jugs isn’t a product you ‘want’ like fancy braids or nice pegs. It’s a product you ‘need.’ There’s a difference between want and need. Love-Jugs is one of the few after-market products that you need to have! That’s why we have such lines here waiting to get them put on!

Steve: We believe in the media. We believe in Born To Ride in particular. Born To Ride was one of the first supporters of Love-Jugs after testing them and seeing how they run and seeing how good Love-Jugs is for the customers. They came out with a tremendous amount of support. We’re getting lots and lots of customers that come to us and say, ‘We heard about you from Born To Ride.’ And our biggest customer so far is a person that was turned on by the page on Born To Ride. So we’re very happy with Born To Ride!

A Place FOR GIRLS Preventing Delinquency Since 1957

As the Boys Ranch grew in size and structure, praise for the success of the program spread across Florida. Everyone knew the Sheriffs’ strong commitment to these deserving boys, but what about the girls? The need was clear but the path was not. Fortunately, the sister of Pinellas County Sheriff Don Genung had carefully watched his efforts to help develop the Florida Sheriffs Boys Ranch. With his help, she approached the Sunshine State Women’s Chamber of Commerce to enlist their support to raise money for a “sister” program to the Boys Ranch. The group agreed and immediately

launched a focused fundraising effort to build a place for wayward girls. Their tenacity and determination soon paid off. In 1969, the Sheriffs of Florida formally adopted the idea of establishing the Florida Sheriffs Girls Villa. A search committee was formed, and by 1971 they had secured a beautiful piece of property formerly known as Peace River Park. Through the efforts of Polk County Sheriff Monroe Brennan and other community leaders, the Mobil Corporation, the City of Bartow, and Polk County Officials agreed to a 99-year lease of over 125 acres of land for $1 per year. The local community

in Bartow responded in a very positive way through the Bartow Classic, a longstanding gala event to support the Girls Villa. Groundbreaking for the new building began at once, and soon the campus was overflowing with deserving girls in need of a good home. Over the years, the Florida Sheriffs Youth Villa (formerly known as the Girls Villa) has grown to include five cottages, and Activity Center, Learning Center, Pool, Chapel, Towey Administration Building, Izard Barn, and other facilities to help young women become productive members of our community.

Women’s “SIZE DOES MATTER LADIES” World

Do you want it big, massive and powerful—or smaller, gentler, manageable and with just the perfect moves? Tired of taking a back seat and you’re ready to straddle your own two-wheeler? Now your heart is throbbing with excitement. There is a feeling of being confident, sexy, and powerful all rolled up in one. There are so many questions and choices for this new adventure in your life.

pecially for me, because I’m 5’ 1 ½” is that you can reach comfortably with both feet flat on the ground. Now this is a challenge especially when you are height challenged or how I prefer to say the bike is height challenged: I’m just right! I have sat on so

Riding is an amazing experience and most of us wonder why we wasted so much time before getting started, but now we are ready to do it and do it right. Let’s now talk bike and size. Yes “bike” what were you thinking?

cially when stopping. When the seat on the bike was changed, lowering the bike made a huge difference. I can now ride the bike with more confidence and pleasure because it feels like it’s part of me and I am in control. Also consider the seat’s width. Some motorcycles may have a low seat height but the width of the seat spreads your legs out so far that you can’t reach the ground completely. Yes width is important too. You don’t want to end up walking around like you had one heck of a “horse” ride. Don't be afraid to visit your nearest motorcycle dealer and try a bike on. Most dealerships will welcome you to go from bike to bike, finding the perfect fit.

Some women feel that if it isn’t pretty they aren’t riding it, or some feel that if it isn’t powerful looking they aren’t riding it. That’s not where your priority must be if you want to have fun and be safe. There are so many great bikes to choose from, but you need to choose the right one for you. Don’t endanger others and yourself by riding something above your capabilities just so you can look good. When you decide to buy your own bike: the weight, power, and fit (including the seat height) are three most important things to consider. When starting off you want a smaller, lighter more manageable bike because this will make your experience enjoyable, safer as well as build your skills and confidence. Getting a bike that is too powerful and heavy will make the experience unpleasant, nerve racking and unsafe. Get a bike for your skill level; you have no need to impress anyone.

many bikes with great frustration and disappointment because they were too high and many can’t be lowered enough for my size. Having both feet flat on the ground makes a huge difference in your riding experience and safety.

I will admit to being at a Harley-Davidson dealership waiting to deliver my Lady's Garage Party opening speech, and sitting virtually on every bike they had on the show room floor. Other than a few salespeople getting a chuckle out of the fact that I had sat on over a dozen bikes before I got to one that my feet touched the ground, everyone was extremely helpful. DO IT! Have fun doing it. Try different shapes and sizes. After all: size does matter!! Congrats to all the ladies who are stepping into their power getting off the back seats and taking control of their life. To those thinking about it I invite you and welcome you to join us. To come experience a freedom, sexiness, power, confidence and excitement that riding your own bike gives you. Live life passionately with no regrets and remember you only need your own self-approval!

Some bikes are height challenged and can’t handle the perfect small package! Another very important consideration, es-

Craven Moorehead The Seven Golden Coins

There I was. Just past the deadline, and all the rattle and hum that is associated with my daily life as a misguided journalist and musician, whose survival depends largely upon what minor amount of prose that I can turn out in a month was creating an unpleasant cacophony of aural discomfort when - OOPS – no internet, but as usual there is always a hang and today this was it. As a lot of people do, I wait till the last minute to get anything done. I swore to myself that since it was a new year, I was going to make significant changes in the way I am currently living my life. It’s not pretty. Unemployed and probably too old to re-inter the workplace as a novice anything, I had to look at all my options, but first I had to go check the refrigerator. Dammit! I only have four beers left! How the heck am I going to turn in a decent column without any substantial liquid encouragement? I have done it before but believe me, it ain’t easy. … I checked my options which included going to the store and purchasing more cheap beer and after a careful examination of my remaining funds, I realized that buying anything didn’t look very promising. I then considered the possibilities of spending several years in prison for strong arm robbery at some local liquor establishment but as all of you, my dedicated readers know – I’m just not that guy! I have always been able to pay my way through one thing or another but this past year hasn’t been all that good. I did play in the band today (for my own anniversary party) which yielded me a whopping four bucks from the

tip jar, but that’s not the point. Most of the time the band provides me a decent amount of money for the effort put in to the gig that we are doing but today we were doing a charitable event. I know. … It could have been worse. Delirious and exhausted, I continued on with the task of writing even though there were several things haunting me. Yeah, I know, my alcohol fueled diatribes may not be the best of all the stories that you have previously consumed from my humble pen but guess what? That’s what all you folks like! At least earlier today I did get the heart and soul fulfilling experience that playing music provides; however, that ain’t buying me any more beer!! I have to think and think fast. And then I thought about the seven golden coins. I remember back in the day, when I had a business, a job and some menial income I began collecting gold coins, some half-dollar coins and the occasional silver dollar. Unfortunately for me these particular golden coins were simply Susan B. Anthony dollars or the Sacagawea dollars that nobody liked. Some of these, even though they were the ‘Coin of the Realm’ were not looked upon as a ‘real’ form of currency. I just collected them because of the oddity. Plus I reveled in the looks on the faces of the people I would try to pass them to. “Yeah Habib, it’s a REAL dollar, now give me my snack crackers!” It was a gas for a while, but now I may need them for gas, or some beer – I haven’t decided yet. … Either way, had they been real gold I would have been on the way to the pawn shop. The magnitude of decisions made when you are in debt and hiding out from everybody are specious and usually beyond correct in many ways. I’m not really hiding and don’t honestly worry too much about facing my bills; I’m just incapable of paying anyone anything. So sue me! Daily survival comes

first. I recall being haunted by a voice the other day. And it wasn’t the golden coins. I was in the grocery store, and a ghostly surrealistic voice seemed to be calling my name. Sure, I was just purchasing some simple staples so that I could survive but something kept calling. Aisle after aisle – ramen noodles, canned gravy, soup, white bread, one stick of butter and a box of saltines – later, I again heard the sound. It was disturbing. I didn’t want to draw attention to myself, or appear as a mentally deranged person, so I continued to push the sparsely filled cart down the next aisle. But I heard it again, and when I turned to look there it was! It’s that damn gallon of Gallo Rhine wine! NOOOO!! It ain’t gonna happen! There is no way that I will ever fall back into that trap! Besides that, I can’t buy that crap with EBT! I tried to simply turn away and speed my pace, but the voice was still there – calling me - haunting me making me frigging crazy!! You see, when I was younger and playing in bands, I used to buy a gallon of that crap, put it up on my amplifier and enthusiastically sip it as I rehearsed or performed at whatever location we were working. NOT TODAY! Like I said – I drink beer. Want a severe hangover? Get ya a gallon of that stuff and go at it! I think that it was a great time in my life that I don’t want to re-live. A time when I recovered quicker and now looking back, it really was that bad! Or was it? At beer two, I discovered one of those foo-foo drinks in the fridge. Mission accomplished! It’s delicious and I’m not going to the store. I refuse to spend my golden coins and can certainly wait till tomorrow to find out where my next article inspiration comes from. I still have a couple of beers left and a fantastic feeling of satisfaction knowing that tomorrow is another day in the trailer park and that most of us out here live day to day anyhow. Rhine Wine PLEASE leave me alone! I’m not going back to you. Ever! Thanks to my boss, Deb Galletti for this horrid memory from my childhood rock stardom. Until next month, speed safely and skip that cheap wine!! Craven Moorehead BORNTORIDE.COM | BTR 69

Angel City Motorcycle Rally, 2X a Year Put it on your Bucket List

Over the past thirty years I have attended more rallies than I can remember, but I have never attended one like this. Angel City looks like a town right out of the old west and it has a campground surrounding the town constructed just for bikers on one hundred acres of land off exit 121 near Unadilla, Georgia. Wayne Smith, a long time biker himself, is the town builder and CEO of Angel City. Wayne is also the Event Coordinator for the rally. He had a dream a few years ago. Wayne wanted to provide a place where bikers could gather for a few days of biker fun with no outside interference. Angel City is that place! Dawn Smith (Wayne’s better half) is the Office Manager who makes sure everything runs smoothly with the camping, RV sites, tickets, vendors, and sponsors. You will usually see her at the ticket booth when you arrive. Two rallies are held there each year, one in April and one in October. I had the pleasure of attending the fall rally. They have an agreement with local law enforcement…we will not cause any trouble for your community outside and you do not come into Angel City and bother us. The agreement works very well. Thousands of bikers came to have a good time for this four day event. Even Unadilla’s mayor came to the rally to thank us for coming! There were beautiful ladies and bikes everywhere I turned. Angel City has all the normal trappings of any rally…live music, a bike show, burnout competition, wet t-shirt contest, bare buns contest and biker

games. But how many events have you attended that also had a tribute to veterans, lawn mower races, Halloween costume and best themed campsite competitions? The town has saloons featuring $2 ice cold long necks, restaurants where I was served a great egg with biscuits and gravy breakfast. The store fronts provide a perfect place for vendors to display their merchandise. There is an event stage in the middle of town where a lot of the activity takes place. A paved road runs around and through town for proud bikers to show off their rides. Reverend Fred has two storefronts which offer free coffee twenty-four hours a day to anyone who wants or needs it. There are hundreds of campsites ranging from tent primitive to full RV hookups. I met bikers from all backgrounds and social classes who were there for just one reason...to have a good time with other likeminded folks. You can walk around the campsites after dark and join in on group parties, listen to stories and enjoy good food and liquid refreshments. The Angel City Rally is motorcycle enthusiasts coming together to enjoy a lifestyle that many people may not understand. It reminded me of events I attended in the old days when it is all about brotherhood and having a good time with other riders. If you get a chance and you want to attend a uniquely different rally, you owe it to yourself to put Angel City on your list of can’t miss events. Ron Hawks

Spyke & Mike

Well there my BTR friends, another holiday season is over. THANK GOD! Now y'all get to work your butts off paying for it! You know, it’s really terrible how Mike and most of you out there wait in anticipation for the holidays. Then, when Thanksgiving comes around it’s a mad dash until Christmas. That’s all over in one day. In a week it's New Year’s Eve and that's over in one second! Now you humans begin the year deep in debt and in a few months start the anticipation period all over again. With the coming of January and a new year there are a few things I know Mike will be doing. One is Thunder By The Bay. What a great weekend party in the streets of downtown Sarasota. The second is renewing my insurance policy with Gotta Havitt Insurance. Get a hold of Mark and Dana and let them give you a quote. If they can't cover you, they will direct you to someone who can. They are the best! Last but not least, Mike has had plenty of couch time to recoup from hanging out with his three cousins, Johnny, Jack, and Jim last month. He has come up with his always interesting and barely believable New Year’s resolutions. He staggers up to me with a full bag of chips in one hand and a 12-ounce cold one in another as I’m trying to get an email out to Mom. He begins, “Spyke, I know what you’re thinking. Here comes Mike with another year of his ridiculous resolutions. Well, you’re probably right. I have and I’m going to give it my best shot at keeping most of them ... past January. I place one wing over my eyes and squawk under my breath, “Oh brother, here we go.” Mike replies, “Spyke, let me start out with these. As I realize I’m not getting any

Happy New Year

younger or smaller, I've got to focus in on my weight, eating habits, slimnastics and work ethics, or lack of. So my number one resolution is; I will not gain any more weight. Losing weight is such a hard goal, so I figured why not make it easier. I'll try to maintain my weight then figure out a way to lose it. My first thought was to try and hide it somewhere you’ll never see it. I squawk, “How about in your head where there is a massive amount of free space?” Mike interjects, “No Spyke, I’m saving that

space for a brain implant. If they can do boobs, somebody must be able to do brains. Until then I’m going to buy bigger clothes. Then I’m going to find a less accurate scale that stops at 250 and has really small numbers. Soon I’ll be able to stop blaming the dryer for all my clothes not fitting right. I’m even thinking about starting up smoking to lose weight. I figure I’ll be too busy huffing and puffing to think about eating.” I crow, “You already huff and puff now walking from the couch to the refrigerator. If you do start smoking you'll probably lose a lung.” Mike rambles on, “That leads me to my new workout regime. I am going to stop saying I can skip the gym today because I played Wii bowling. I will have to at least do Wii boxing if I’m going to call it a workout. I

will build my biceps by increasing reps of ding dong curls to 3 sets of 15. Then switch from 12 oz. cold ones to 16 oz. tall boys for definition. I will begin using that treadmill at home for something other than a place to hang my biker jackets. I also plan on driving by a fitness center at least every other day. For breakfast, I'm going to stop buttering my doughnuts, eat one less pancake, and have more fruits … snacks. I will also drink more liquids by putting extra ice cubes in my drink." Mike babbles on, "To improve my overall attitude on life, I promised Ron and my attorney that I will never show up for work or court drunk again. I will not bore them with my same old excuses, I will think up new ones. I will really work from home on my 'work from home' days and work harder at finding time to sleep more. And last but not least, I resolve to stop procrastinating about procrastinating!" I roll my eyes and screech, “That’s what you said last year and look where it’s gotten you. …” Mike comes back, “Ahhh yes Spyke, practice does make perfect, and I’m still in practice mode!” I cackle, “Oh brother, anything else Mr. Imagination?” Mike looks at me now with a half full bag of chips in one hand and an empty beer can in another and says, “Nope, I don’t want to make promises I can’t keep! Hey, there you go. My latest and greatest! Now I’m done. Before I get started let’s jump on the Fat Bird and take a ride to Biff Burger for a triple cheeseburger, extra tater tots, and a large cold one to end this year and give me a real good reason to start my workout! With that said, he picks me up from the keyboard and plops me on the Fat Bird. He then gets my wings in the wind and its wheels down the road, heading towards his (supposedly) last food overdose. There’s nothing like getting in the wind for a few hours, leaving everything behind and focusing just on the ride. The wind blowing across my face, the beautiful scenery, and the solitude of being on my bike is something that just relaxes me like nothing else can. What makes the ride even better for me is the confidence that my bike will make the trip, due to careful attention to maintenance. Those service visits come too often, but if it keeps the bike up and running it’s worth every penny spent. The mechanics can tell by checking out the

bike if I’ve been treating it well or abusing it along the way. Is it covered in grime and missing its gleam? Does the oil smell burnt, from running it too hot? Are the tires wearing unevenly, due to improper inflation pressure? The thing is, if I am upfront with the mechanics about what I’ve been doing to the bike, they are better prepared to restore it to a clean, smooth running vehicle that can be trusted to get me to my destination. That being said, if I’ve been doing something wrong or mistreating the bike and tell the mechanics that, they are infinitely better able to properly troubleshoot and restore the bike to its comfortable potential. You know, a lot of folks don’t realize that God is that way too. He doesn’t need us to confess if we have been mishandling an area of our life, but He wants us to so that we may realize what needs to be improved upon or changed. In the Bible, in Psalm 32:5 it reads, “Finally, I confessed all my sins to you (God) and stopped trying to hide my guilt. I said to myself, “I will confess my rebellion to the LORD.” And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone (New Liv-

ing Translation). See, what God wants is for us to confess and verbally admit any and all wrongdoings. When we take that step of faith in His blessings, the door to His blessings and the removal of guilt are thrown wide open. When we confess to our wrongdoing we not only are speaking the truth and taking responsibility, we are also admitting to ourselves where changes are needed in our lives! When we want our bikes, or our lives, to run smoothly and effectively we simply need to seek the reasons that may be causing a rough ride; and take action to make the necessary changes. It’s also important to remember that we are not alone in the ride through life. Wherever you are God is already there to meet us at our point of need. Are you ready for your bike, or your life to be serviced, and made whole again? Check in with your local dealer to restore your bike, check in with God to restore your life. He’s there, 24/7, just waiting to hear your call. In The Wind, Denny Dingler
