HOWDY BROTHERS AND SISTERS! Born To Ride Motorcycle Media is proud to bring you the best biker magazine in the known Metaverse! That’s right, Born To Ride has been around for over 25 years and has brought motorcyclists the world over, the very best of what the two-wheeled world offers. To kick start 2021, Born To Ride brings you an all-new campaign to get people everywhere inspired and passionate about motorcycles. This new campaign is called Think Motorcycle and it gets your motor runnin’ with three exciting tiers of participation:
#1 – THINK MOTORCYCLE when you are out there driving your car. We want drivers to be aware of our presence as motorcyclists on the roads of America. Take the time to be aware of your two-wheeled brothers and sisters out there. We’ve all heard of drivers who had an accident with a biker say, “I didn’t see the motorcycle.” All we are asking is that drivers everywhere Think Motorcycle and see and hear us on the roads we share.
#2 – THINK MOTORCYCLE when you are riding your bike. Be aware of your surroundings at all times. I always tell new riders to pretend that everything out there on the road is trying to get you, whether it is drivers in cages, truckers, people on cell phones who are not paying attention, or a stray dog, deer or moose. Be aware and keep alert! Think like a motorcyclist when you are on the roads. It also means to maintain your bike, check your tire pressure, check your turn signals and horn. Make sure your ride is in tip-top shape before you throw a leg over the saddle. #3 – THINK MOTORCYCLE all the time. There has never been a better time to join the biker family. Motorcycles are economical,
better for the environment, and are the most fun you can have when getting from one place to the next. If you have always thought about getting a bike, make this your year to visit your local motorcycle dealerships and get inspired to ride. In a time of Covid lockdowns, nothing will make you feel more free than a ride on your rumblin’ freedom machine. Join millions of like-minded brothers and sisters. Become part of the Born To Ride family. There are great deals out there on new and used motorcycles. Buy a bike, take a Rider Safety Course, and join us on the road!
Now that we’re all thinking motorcycle, this January issue of Born To Ride is packed with features from brothers and sisters who are thinking motorcycles all the time! We’ll catch up with Nefarious James, a true brother of the road who has a message for all Americans, and get a tantalizing tech tip for wrenchin’ expert John Sullivan. Come with us to visit Shannon Davidson at the Chopp Shop in Taylorsville, North Carolina where you’ll feast your eyes on his latest killer custom Road Glide for Metalsport Wheels. Then Spyke and Mike bring you some new year’s resolutions to put a big smile on your cheesy mug and our awesome Reader’s Ride features mouthwaterin’ Megan Rodgers on her sexy Sportster chop job, shot by Brad Patton. All this and more is just a page turn or a click away in the first issue of Born To Ride for 2021. Don’t forget to join us on Facebook and become part of the Born To Ride Facebook Group. If you love motorcycles, it’s the place to be! Now let’s get out there and ride!

HAVE A VISION -TRUST THE PROCESS
Bobby Stein is an Effective and Experienced communicator. A professional with a demonstrated history working within the fitness and podcast communities. He is the Creator and Host of the Motiv8d Mindset and producer and co-host of the “Two Wheel Action” Podcasts. He is passionate about sharing the successes, setbacks and stories of artists, athletes, musicians, entrepreneurs and extraordinary folks from all walks of lifeunveiling and learning just what Motivates their MindsetHELLO AND WELCOME TO THE NEW YEAR BORN TO RIDE FAMILY! Do we realize that
right now is a fantastic time to get after it… Hindsight truly is 2020 and with the strange and tumultuous year of 2020 now behind us let us each reflect on how fortunate we are- the lessons we learned and to the hope of a brighter new year ahead. 2020 gave us all an opportunity, the chance to look inward and to make a choice., a choice to roll over and lay down or to decide. A decision to move forward in the face of adversity. Do we succumb to the pandemic, the events and conditions as the news outlets mandate OR do, we trust in our vision, true 2020 vision? A vision of what is possible for us. A vision that is worthy of setting a goal and devising a plan. Not sight, but a dream, a vision. I for one, am choosing the latter. I am choosing to move in the direction of my vision and ideal, to realize the potential that I hold in my minds’ eye. Visions are real. Visions are not created in a vacuum. When we have a vision or desired outcome for ourselves, I believe, that the vision was ordered. Ordered on a deeper level and I believe also that the means to bring that vision coming to pass are within me., within each of us, ordered. I choose to believe that. For me it is BTR 6 | BORNTORIDE.COM
healthy and keeps me focused, focused on the plan. Especially in this uncertain and fearful time we presently find ourselves in.The interesting thing about having and holding a vision, I have found, is that when we are faithful to it, the resources and people seem to come to our aid. People and circumstances seem to conspire on our vision’s behalf, truly. We may look back in a goal achieved and realize that a certain individual made an introduction at a certain time or opened a door that acted as a signpost to follow on the road to the goal. A word was spoken at the right time to remind us to remain steadfast and encouraged.
“HIS GIFTS LIE IN COMMUNICATION AND BRINGING FOLKS TOGETHER, STRIVING TO ENRICH EACH EXPERIENCE WITH A WIN-WIN OUTCOME. PERPETUAL IMPROVEMENT WITH A CURIOUS MINDSET THAT’S EAGER TO SERVE IS HIS MISSION~” ~RELATIONSHIPS MATTER~ Which brings me to this important point. When we hold a vision in mind it shows. It shows up in our eyes, our speech, mannerisms, and actions. The vision acts a kind of magnet, a magnet that contains an attraction to like-minded individuals. The people we encounter along our journey is treasure. When we respect each encounter and individual we may be led to the next step, a step in the direction of our vision. I had the vision in early 2020 to embark on hosting and producing my own podcast. It seemed to be an interesting medium that could scratch a creative itch for me. It also seemed daunting. Equipment, the set-up
and knowledge, the attracting of guests and of the glaring fact that I was genuinely nervous and uncertain of my ability to provide real and meaningful content. Who would listen? Would there be interest, and audience? Do I have the chops? But as I remained clear on what I had originally envisioned, the folks and resources came to my aid. As I remained and remain faithful to my vision it continues to unfold in many unexpected and exciting ways. I still get butterflies in my stomach. I still feel that I may not have what it takes technically, however, I believe that I am a successful podcaster. In a world where the average podcast lasts just seven episodes before folding up shop, I have been able to be a part of producing and hosting over one hundred. As we step into the unknown of 2021, I would encourage each one of us who has a goal to take that first step. Trust the process. While keeping our goal in mind, create a plan and be on the lookout for the people and resources who will inevitably come along side of us to make that goal, that vision a reality. Setbacks and failure are inevitable. Naysayers and doubters will be part of the journey. However, these folks are part of the process and actors on the set of our play. They play their necessary part in the testing of our character, to reveal if we are in fact serious. Remember, we are Born To Ride! Whether you are looking for that new bike, a fresh start on your health or just expand your horizons, stay committed to the vison and remain encouraged. Hold it in your mind’s eye, pay attention to the signposts, and allow 2021 be of epic significance. Trust the process!~ You can hear the latest episode with Born To Ride’s very own Ronnie “The Savage” Galetti now on the Motiv8d Mindset Podcast. It’s the soundtrack to every motorcyclist’s nightmare: you’re sitting astride your bike at an intersection, patiently waiting for the red light to change to green, when you hear the screech of tires. Next you’re flying through the air and into the intersection. You’ve just been rear-ended by an inattentive driver who was too busy dialing his cell phone to notice you stopped at the red light. Strategy: Remember, even to attentive drivers, motorcycles are difficult to see—especially at night. Remain aware of the fact that drivers approaching an intersection may not see you. Frequently check your mirrors to monitor traffic approaching from the rear, keeping an eye out for fast-moving traffic approaching from behind. Flash your brake light. If you do notice a car speeding toward you, move to one side or another to get out of its way. Don’t shift into neutral when stopped at an intersection. Keep your bike in gear, so you can quickly escape if a dangerous situation arises. For more info www.msf-usa.org

Shannon Davidson, owner of The Chopp Shop out of Taylorsville, North Carolina, has been building magnificent custom motorcycles for over 20 years. I have had the honor of giving Shannon many Best of Show and Best Bagger awards over the years and have featured many of his lavish creations in motorcycle magazines. The Chopp Shop is truly a one-stop shop, offering everything in-house, from fabrication to final assembly, including astounding designs and flawless custom paint. It’s no wonder that Ron Loynds, president of Metalsport Wheels, chose Shannon as the spokesperson for his amazing line of custom wheels for baggers including the mighty 34-inch 3D designs that Metalsport is known for. The bagger you are looking at here was created to be the showcase for Metalsport’s new print advertisements, including the ad seen in this issue. Ron and Shannon worked together to create the perfect twowheeled statement for Metalsport and this custom Road Glide is the result. This gold and crème Road Glide has, as its centerpiece, the dazzling new Metalsport Fat Wheel. That’s a 23-inch, 5.5 wide 3D design up front with matching 18-inch rotors, shod in Vee Rubber, snuggled beneath Shannon’s clever custom Road Glide fairing. A matching 16-inch, 5.5 rear wheel and 11.8 rotor is out back, hidden by a set of custom hardbags. Scott at Cylent Cycles makes those bags and then Shannon and the crew at the Chopp Shop customize them to taste. Other Chopp Shop parts and pieces include the frame, the front and rear fender, the stretched gas tank and side panels, and that sleek chin spoiler. Ron at Metalsport was blown away by this ravishing Road Glide by the show-stopping Shannon Davidson and Born To Ride is proud to share it with you. —Dave Nichols

MEGAN RODGERS’
SUPER SEXY SPORTSTER CHOPPER Like you who are reading these words, Megan Rodgers of Charleston, South Carolina, lives to ride. Her passion for two wheels began thanks to her brotherin-law, who rides and builds motorcycles. Megan caught the bug and started working at a shop called America Biker. She’d like to thank Rich Worley down at American Biker for helping her live her motorized dreams. Megan’s first bike was a T125 Suzuki two-stroke. That bike led to a Honda CB350 and a whole bunch of other bikes over the years. Her first Harley was the cool custom Sportster you are lookin’ at on these pages. “I’ve had it two years,” Megan tells us. “I bought it from Asher Driggers at Grifter Motorcycles and it was already chopped the way you see it here.” She did add a few things in the past two years including a new carb and filter, grips, bags and Low Brow pipes that she wrapped herself. The 883 motor was bored out to 1200 by Jake Silver at Silver Speed Customs. “Jake did all the motor work and assembly and put on the new exhaust system for me,” Megan says. The flower power paintjob on the Sporty tank and rear fender was expertly handled by Leah Thornley, another woman with a love of motorcycles. When she’s not bartending over at the Recovery Room Tavern in downtown Charleston, Megan can be found ridin’ the wheels off of the righteous rigid chopper. She says she is extremely happy with this bike. Who wouldn’t be?

THUNDER BY THE BAY Choppertown ‘Live’ is coming to Thunder by the Bay! That’s right, the very same ‘Choppertown’ that you’ve seen on countless movie streaming platforms and all over social media.

The logical next step would be to bring you the ‘Choppertown’ experience ‘Live’ and that historic, family friendly first step will be happening in Sarasota, Fl. Feb, 19th, 20th and 21st at Thunder By the Bay. The goal is to bring you a three day immersive ‘experience’ complete with a motorcycle builders invitational featuring some of the countries most respected builders, to unique vendors, a chopper only ride-in chopper show, a Choppertown

He’s made a name for himself as one of the nation’s top builders, and widely respected throughout the motorcycle industry. His life was very nearly cut short in an

T H E I C O N I C A m a z i n g A RT I S T It all started with the buffalo bike. I recalled being in a crowded parking lot, surrounded by motorcycles and one sight stopped me in my tracks. As I looked out over the sea of bikes, one machine stood out with no shine, no sparkle and nothing in common with the rest. I did a double-take. The motorcycle that piqued my interest was completely covered with brown shaggy fur and the stuffed head of a buffalo mounted on the front. I was thrilled and drawn in to look closer. I asked Ron, the owner, if I could sit on his bike and get my picture taken and he was most cordial. I saw the buffalo bike again over the years at subsequent bike rallies, and became familiar with the owner who also inquired about my creating some artwork designs. It seems his company makes the licensed T-shirts that are sold in H-D dealerships across the country and he invited me to visit him in St Louis and get a tour of the T-shirt plant. Later that year, I managed a trip to visit Ron and his plant. He explained that the entire endeavor began as a way to finance his passion for flat track racing. Ron started making T-shirts under the grandstand at racetracks and rodeos across Illinois and all the way out to the Black Hills. His young daughter wielded the screen-printing squeegee and handled the details of selling shirts to free Ron up to race. This relationship is intact today, although now, even more of his family fills the ranks of staff now that the enterprise has grown. The RKStratman plant is comprised of two large buildings. The main structure houses management, a fleet of artists
sitting at computers in cubicles finishing new custom designs, and the girls on phones stay in touch with the salesmen in the field and the purchasing managers in the various Harley-Davidson stores across the country. The other building houses 100,000 plus square feet of production, packaging, receiving and shipping space. In the middle of this cavernous building is the production floor. It is here that each shirt is screened, in a multi-station, multi-color process that is an efficient ballet of precision. After the tour, back in Ron’s office, the real reason for the invitation was disclosed. He recognized the value of my experience; having interviewed and created compositional ideas for the countless clients I have served in the capacity of mural, sign and pinstripe design artist. The only personnel who interact with each Harley-Davidson store in the field are his salesmen, who do not have the ability to visualize an idea or create a pencil sketch of that idea. Ron’s vision included Letterfly as an artist in the field as an important link in the service he offers, creating pencil compositions from the prompt with the customer on location for his art staff to develop into finished artwork for a new design for that particular Harley-Davidson store. Because the Letterfly design making process that has been in place for over forty years always starts with an interview, I have become quite good at finding out what a person wants. Some customers have a limited ability to communicate a concept that they are

not visualizing clearly and others are enthusiastic visionaries with a precise request that simply needs me to translate their desire into a sketch to facilitate the finished work of art. When I arrived at Mike’s Famous H-D in Wilmington a year ago, Debbie Schwartz, the motor clothes manager, was delighted to hear the news of this service. She was not happy with the dark image of the towering base of a bridge structure that was a frontispiece of one of the RKStratman designs and had a vision of a more pleasant one. She knew the salesman didn’t think in pictures and if he could understand her description, he still couldn’t clarify the concept right before her eyes with a pencil and a sketch book. Debbie described to me her idea complete with the desired color palette for the sky and the particular model and color of motorcycle to feature in the foreground. After finding a reference picture of the famous bridge that is a local landmark, an example of the chevron shaped “Mike’s Famous” icon and an image of the bike she liked, I made a pencil sketch from her prompt with notations of the specific elements and colors she wanted to be included. Once the rough pencil composition was approved, I cleaned it up with pen and ink and sent it to Ron and company. Elated to be a link, creating not only a commissioned piece of art to benefit Mike’s Famous Harley-Davidson and RKStratman, easily my favorite outcome from this endeavor was promoting and receiving the stace.

GET OFF YOUR ASS AMERICA Here we are finally in the new year of 2021. Everyone I’ve seem to run into is hopeful that this year will be way better than the last. But as we all know, the old saying says hindsight is 2020 but we look forward to, and are hopeful for, a new and more optimistic 2021. Unfortunately, it appears that the year designation does not seem to change many of the concerns that we as a people have about the outlook of our country.
Anyone who knows me knows that I try not to speak about politics, or anything of that sort, due to the many views that we as Americans have and are entitled to under our Constitution. Before writing this article, I decided to try to get the outlook of my fellow Americans and listen to their concerns about where we are heading; not only from the area where I live, but out of state as well, to try to get varying outlooks. Unfortunately, what I learned and what I observed, concerns me greatly.
People are concerned about a recap of last year’s happenings with the possibility of businesses being closed and economic opportunity being at risk. This Corona virus is still being used as a segway to push an agenda that we as a people are probably not aware of. Don’t get me wrong, public health is always a public concern, but when it is being utilized to stifle free speech and freedom of assembly, I have a problem with that. When we shut down venues that are utilized by the people to converse and share ideas, that’s a problem. When we shut down religious institutions and interfere with people’s ability to worship whoever and whatever they may want, however they want, that’s a problem.
We have an election that’s results are in conflict, as well as the possibility of underhandedness having been utilized in the counting of votes. People are genuinely concerned about the direction our country is heading in. I would have to say, with those topics alone, it is something to genuinely be concerned about. It’s probably the first time in my existence that I have entered biker bars and heard politics dominate the conversations.
impropriety in our election process, by all means it should be reviewed without question. The freedom of assembly is threatened in order to stop the flow of information between Americans, that’s a problem. If your ability to provide for your family and loved ones is threatened, that’s a problem.
"We the people have
I can go on and on about this topic but space is limited. So the question I’m sure all of you were going to ask is, “Nefarious, how do we fix it?” Well, of course, that’s not the easiest thing to come up with and a direct answer has eluded many. My advice is this. Read our Constitution and read our Bill of Rights. Don’t let it be destroyed or tampered with. So many have died for what it represents. So many wish they had the opportunities we have as a people and as a nation. We the people have every right to flush the tyranny from our government. Bikers have never been sheep. If that’s what you want to be, that’s your decision. Just remember, sheep get sheered and are fed on by wolves. I’m no sheep. You shouldn’t be either. Get off your ass, America.
Personally, who you voted for and why is your business and no one else’s. Personally, I don’t care who you vote for as long as you participated in the process. What I do care about is that
every right to flush the tyranny from our government. Bikers have never been sheep. If that’s what you want to be, that’s your decision. Just remember, sheep get sheered anD are fed on by wolves." everything is done within the accordance of our Constitution and the guidelines of our Bill of Rights. When these become threatened, it is something all Americans should be concerned with. It’s a wellknown fact that once you lose something, it’s hard to get it back, and sometimes, getting it back is impossible. If there was
I’ve spoken about this topic many times and it is always still a major concern for me. Our Constitution is not just words on paper, it is a living document. It is how this country was built by men of honor and foresight. That living document is more important now than ever before. As Americans, it is our responsibility to preserve our country for future generations.
Think about that, while you still have the freedom to do so.

Confusion and chaos pretty much sums up this movie. It is the modern day version of all the biker exploitation “B” movies ever made. Curiously, Larry Bishop (as Pistolero) appeared in a variety of films including The Savage Seven, Mad Dog Time and Kill Bill to name a few. His collaboration with Quentin Tarantino in this most recent effort, would lead one to believe that “Hell Ride” is a major cinematic production destined for the A list. Sadly, it falls short of that mark. The story revolves around Pistolero and his gang “the Victors.” The main characters are himself, the Gent and Comanche who set out to avenge the death of his ol lady Cherokee Kisum. Cherokee, it seems, was murdered by the 666er’s, a rival gang. But wait, let’s back up! This is exactly what makes the flick so confusing. … We flash back and forth from 35 years back to 35 years forward. It seems that Bishop as the writer, director, and star is the only one who understands what is going on at any given time. I was lost after viewing it twice, but again I digress. The film is soaked with girls, drugs, and murder. I like all those facets in a biker exploitation film, but the chaotic pace leaves one
wondering where the plot is. It seems the Victors MC have an underlying code of deceit and distrust. As the movie rolls along, several of the members of gang are killed by the Gent and other Victors—leaving only Pistolero, the Gent, and Comanche in the gang. Ahhh, but there is another member hiding in the desert! Eddie Zero, played by Dennis Hopper appears as a (possibly retired) member of the gang. How they were able to get Hopper to appear in this mess was a mystery in itself, and I was surprised, and entertained for a moment until I saw David Carradine playing rival gang member “The Duce.” Evidently, the Duce and Pistolero had some under-the-table dealings and this conflict led to the ongoing battle between the two clubs. The 666er’s use arrows and darts to carry out their hits while the Victors use the more conventional revolvers, available at Wal-Mart. The Victors trademark murders–you will see a few of these involve the tying of one to a chair, the cutting of the throat, and the soaking of the subject in gasoline, which is then ignited by the tossing of a Zippo lighter, also available at WalMart. Somewhere in my recall, it seems to me that this ritual was borrowed from the 666er’s when they did in Cherokee Kisum. In the end, the Victors cut off the Duce’s head, and Eddie Zero delivers it to the 666er’s hangout in a nice wicker basket (see Wal-Mart above). He departs and rides off down the road until his motor quits for some reason. He gets off his vintage ride to repair it, and sees the 666er’s pull up behind him. The leader of the 666er’s, (played by Vinnie Jones) shoots him in the back with a dart fired from an air powered device that looks like a Shark Gun. He collapses on the highway. Much to the 666er’s surprise the Victors pull up behind them and the Gent kills all of them, but only wounds Jones who falls to the pavement. Pistolero in a strange twist of role, shoots Jones with a small crossbow, then reloads and fires a dart into Jones’ gas tank. As the fuel surrounds Jones, who is bleeding cussing and etc, one of the Victors cuts his throat, and Pistolero tosses the classic Zippo into the pool of gas. In the next frame, Hopper gets up off the pavement, and removes his armor-laden jacket – arrow still intact- and hands it to his girl who gives him a similar jacket. They depart the scene, and the three meet in the desert where the 666er’s had previously buried some sort of lockbox containing some sort of (something). … There are three keys that have 666 stamped into them. There is a short argument, and Comanche digs up the lock box and the others give him the three keys. What’s in that thing you ask? You will never know, because the shot shows only Comanche’s face from the inside as he opens the box. I think it was empty, but what do I know? The trio then fire up their motors and ride off in three different directions as the credits roll. If you are a fan of naked ladies, cool classic motorcycles, and blood and guts, this film is for you! However, if you were expecting a plot, a story line, or a coherent slide show of pleasant desert scenes you aren’t gonna be too happy. Tarantino once told Bishop “It is your destiny to write, direct, and star in a movie.” Sometimes destiny is not all it’s cracked up to be! I would reluctantly give this film 2 out of 5 stars, because there were two REAL stars exploited in this mess. It is rated R for ridiculous, and runs approximately 86 minutes. In my opinion it should be 86’ed altogether.

your gps may be spying on you By Matt Danielson, The Motorcycle Law Group Beware. Your GPS may be collecting evidence against you. More and more motorcyclists today are using GPS (Global Positioning Systems) to plan trips, get directions and keep track of miles traveled. However, keep in mind that if you are in a motorcycle accident, you may be collecting evidence that could be used against you in both a criminal and civil trial. Most GPS systems allow you to keep track of your speed. As such, they can be used as evidence in court. I have come across jurisdictions which, at the scene of an accident when speed is a question, will seize a crash victim’s GPS, get a search warrant, and download the information pertaining to speed. Such action does more than subject the crash victim to a speeding ticket. It can, if the injured party was speeding, put their ability to collect damages for their injuries at risk. That means, if the party who injures you can show that you were in some way at fault in causing the accident, then depending on which state you were injured in, your claim can be reduced, or outright denied. Been injured in an Accident? Contact our Law Firm1-800-321-8968
Keep in mind that I am in no way suggesting that you should not use a GPS on your motorcycle. I am merely suggesting that if you do, keep in mind that depending on the system and how you use it, you could be collecting evidence that could eventually be used by a party that injures you to avoid paying for the injuries they caused. If you have any further questions orcomments concerning this article or any other matters concerning your rights as a motorcyclist, please do not hesitate to contact me. Bitchin’ Big Wheels for Bag WE CHECK OUT METALSPORT INC. There are some companies whose products can really add an outstanding custom look to a bagger, yet most riders don’t know much about them. Metalsport is just such a company; they make super sharp looking large diameter billet wheels. Granted there are other people that make large diameter wheels, but only few do it like Metalsport; their billet wheels are true one-piece creations.
Having seen their wheels on many custom bikes, we decided to give you a close-up view of just how they make them. Located in a rather non-descript building out east of Los Angeles, which houses more large CNC metal working machines than we had seen in quite a while. Ron Loynds, Metalsport’s President, filled us in on their history and gave us a cook’s tour. They have been in the custom motorcycle parts manufacturing business for twenty plus years, albeit quietly though. They popped up on everybody’s radar with their introduction of several large diameter billet aluminum wheels. Now most tires have a lot in common, but not big aluminum wheels. Metalsport’s 3-D wheels have machined spokes that flair out to almost the same width as the rim, whereas your average custom wheel features spokes that are barely a fourth the width of the rim. Making one-piece wheels requires three things: a big aluminum billet, a CNC machine that is capable of milling it and a lot of time. Metalsport bought a large machine to do big wheel in, then bought several more so that they could make more than one wheel a day. They start with a solid chunk of aluminum, they put it into the giant CNC machine that is programmed to whittle away all of the excess metal. When they are done, they have two products: a custom 3-D motorcycle wheel and a bucket of machining chips that weighs more than the finished wheel. So subtly stunning are their wheels that our pictures can’t project their actual depth and texture.
Along the way, Ron hooked up with several custom builders; among them is Chip Foose. Chip has designed a lot of custom wheels, which Metalsport makes and markets for him. To say that their styling is handsome is a gross understatement; we especially liked the Nitrous II in black. For a complete look at Metalsport’s wheels, hit their website and be sure to watch the wheel video.

NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTIONS
“Woohoo, it’s 2021! Mike and I are both looking forward to 2020 being over, my BTR friends. It’s that time of year for us to put up or shut up. Declare resolutions, make changes, be goal driven and pay bills on time. OR, just lay on the couch watching TV, accepting the New Year and the new Covid strain as both unfold before us.” Mike breaks in, “That’s easy for you to say and do my feathered friend, Spyke. You’re Covid-proof, so what else do you have to worry about? Resolutions? You’re already the best bird out there. Okay, well maybe you can resolve not to poop down my back as much. Changes? You’re usually the nicest bird around. Well, maybe you could change and stop being mean to your friends who come to the Sanctuary and visit. Goals? You’ve been making everyone you meet very happy. Okay, maybe a good goal would be to ease up with your talons while standing on peoples’ arms forcing them to cringe. Bills? You’ve got none. But maybe you’d entertain your fans more so I don’t feel like I’m WTB (Working The Bird) for those Kodak moments and filling your peanut shaped tip jar.” I cackle, “Well Mike, I’ll take all that to heart and work on them. Speaking of working on things, I’ve devised a jingle about what happens every year after you’ve overbought to your heart’s content and charged your credit cards past their limits. While still in the holiday spirit, I pecked it out to the tune of: Twas the Night before Christmas. It was a month after Christmas and all through the house, Every creature was hurting except for the mouse. BTR 38 | BORNTORIDE.COM
The electronics have issues or their batteries are dead, Mike was passed out with Cherry in his bed. Boxes and bubble wrap still covered the floor, While upstairs his roommates continued to snore. The maid in her t-shirt, new Reeboks and jeans, Came into the house and started to clean. When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter, She sprang from the sink to see what was the matter. Away to the window she flew like a flash, Tore open the curtains and threw up the sash. When what to her wondering eyes should appear, But a little white truck with an oversized left mirror. The driver was smiling so lively and grand, The patch on his jacket read: US POSTMAN. With a handful of bills, he grinned like a fox, Then quickly stuffed them into Mike’s mailbox. Bill after bill, after bill, they still came, Whistling and shouting he called them by name: “Now Dillard’s, now Bealls, now eBay and Sears, Here’s Walmart and Target and Best Buy, all here! Maxing the cards out, every store, every mall. You charged away, charged away, charged away all!” He whooped and he whistled as he finished his work, He filled up the box and then turned with a jerk. He sprang to his truck and drove off down the road,
Driving much faster with just half a load. Then she heard him exclaim with great holiday cheer, “Enjoy what you’ve bought, you’ll be paying all year!” “Damn, Spyke,” Mike babbles, “you really know how to take the joy out of enjoying life. Don’t you realize that our existence revolves around debt and credit? You know it’s true that you can’t take it with you when you die. Which means, the guy with the most toys in the end wins! So when my life flashes before my eyes, I want to make sure I’ve got plenty to watch!” I cackle, “Dude, we already have plenty to watch, just look around you. The doors we open and close each day gives us a new choice, a different point of view for the rest of our lives. In other people’s lives, every door opening has a story and every door closing is a new beginning. So, look at humans as if they were doors and the experiences that you’d be choosing or losing.” Mike babbles, “Damn, Spyke, I like your way of thinking. Maybe I need to stop calling you bird brain and rename you Confucius Fowl or Avian Aristotle. Now you’ve got me thinking no resolutions this year. It will be more like a life altering decision, a born again commitment. “In the blink of an eye doors open and close. I’m going to live life for a door that is not materialistic or one I can buy with money. I’ll forgive often, love with all my heart and pass on random acts of kindness. I will walk through these doors passionately. “But whatever I do before sliding into the grave skull first, I’ll just keep riding cloud nine heading towards Nirvana and unlimited Bliss, dragging you along and whoever else is with us.” I squawk, “Dude, that’s awesome. Your name should be Miko Plato! Let’s get your knees under the keys, my wings in the wind and your forehead out the sunroof, ultimately achieving a brain freeze that preserves those very thoughts while the trucks’ wheels go rolling down the road.” — SPYKE

CHRISTIAN MOTORCYCLISTS ASSOCIATION There is nothing quiet as spontaneous as mounting up on your bike and going for a ride. You have a total freedom of where you will go, what route you will take, and how much time you will spend getting some wind therapy. If you want, you can simply get up and go, with literally no set plans, but a mountain of freedom. Having led several rides in the past as Road Captain for the day, I am aware of the planning and responsibility that is involved; you are responsible for the group’s safety. You may choose to share the route and the final destination, especially if some members of the group have GPS, as a backup. I have even seen a Road Captain print out turn by turn directions for the riders. Some may think this to be overkill, until something goes wrong! We can all try to be safe and ride together while observing traffic signals, but sometimes things don’t always work out. One of the biggest challenges faced while group riding is part of the group getting split by a long traffic light. I have witnessed numerous approaches to solving that issue, some better than others. One ride I was on did fine for about 3 miles, and then the large pack of bikes was split by a very long traffic light. The

Road Captain likely did not realize we were missing as our groups reunited about 45 minutes down the road. Good thing we had a few riders that knew how to get to the destination. The best example of solving missing riders is often used, finding a parking lot or a closed business. We can pull over to wait and watch for the missing riders, and then be able to pick up and continue the ride. Rather than feel left out by our leader and the disappearing group, we knew that they were pulled over somewhere up ahead and waiting and watching for us. It gave us a wonderful peace and positive expectations in that situation! In the Bible story about the parable of the lost son, the wayward son was seeking his way home after having wasted away his inheritance. In Luke 15:20 it says, “But when he was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck.” We can see that the father was not only watching for his son’s return, but upon seeing the boy coming home the father ran out to meet him. The father had compassion and expressed his joy in the reunion! This passage shows how God wants to see us come to Him, and that He will welcome us to Him. Finally, God wants to celebrate when we come to Him. This passage shows God’s watching for us, like the father waiting for the son, and like a split ride coming back together. If you’ll just call to God, He’ll call to you. In the Wind, Denny Dingler
