NATIVE PLANT WINTER SOWING

In this seminar, you will learn the basics of winter sowing – starting seeds in inexpensive reused and/or reusable containers and leaving them outside to germinate. We will focus on native plants (and why you should grow them), but winter sowing of tender annuals and vegetables will also be discussed.

Make a nourishing lotion bar and lip balm for our dry Colorado winters. Take them home with recipes to make more. Learn about honeybee biology and the chemistry of beeswax for DIY remedies.

Learn about starting your own seeds for annual flowers, vegetables, fruits, and herbs!

Make a native bee house to bring home. Get ready for spring pollinators and learn to identify some of Boulder’s native bees. You are invited to help us refresh the Main Library’s Native Bee House outdoors following this workshop.

Bring your homegrown seeds, and unopened packets of store-bought seeds. Empty seed envelopes available for you to fill and exchange. All leftover seeds will be donated to the Library’s Free Seed Library.
