HE last two seasons have passed in the blink of an eye. Far too quickly for my liking. It feels like yesterday when I started writing last year’s Chairman’s Report with the opening preamble, “Football is a great leveller.” That line was reflecting on our inconsistent 2015 season, on the back of the thrills and excitement of 2014. Now we are another year on and have failed to improve on the missed opportunities of last year. Our 2015 and 2016 seasons were very different in their own ways but ultimately delivered the same disappointing outcome – a failure to play finals. Here at Port Adelaide we won’t sugar coat the reality. It’s not our style and Port Adelaide people are far too smart for that anyway. The bottom line is we failed again in 2016. Our entire club was mediocre in its performance and we fell short on our own internal expectations and those outside the club. Our history shows we don’t tolerate mediocrity. We proudly put our flag in the
PORT ADELAIDE FOOTBALL CLUB 2016
ground and declare We Exist To Win Premierships and Make Our Community Proud. As a football club, we need to get back to being elite. We need to get back to doing all the little things well, all those intangibles that build up to form an elite football club. There is no doubt we need to get stronger. The football department is not alone in these areas. We have always been one team on and off the field, and will always be. As a club, we celebrate success and analyse our losses as one. But 2016 wasn’t all doom and gloom. Through the disappointment shone some achievements that filled us all with pride and optimism.
Logan Austin, Dougal Howard, Jesse Palmer, Riley Bonner and Will Snelling. And the vast improvement in maturity and leadership shown from Jasper Pittard was equally exciting. 2016 will not be a wasted year if we can learn from our mistakes. Port Adelaide has confronted challenges head on for over 140 years. The key to our future success is that we learn from our experiences this year. What is success? 2017 started at 9.00am on Sunday 28 September, the morning after our final game of the season against the Gold Coast.
For the second year in a row we cracked 60,000 members - an extraordinary result.
Keith, Ken, Travis and I met for a robust and confronting session as to why we have been mediocre over the last two seasons.
Our home attendances remained strong – fourth-highest in the AFL, the third year in a row we’ve achieved this – with an average crowd of just under 40,000.
The outcome of the meeting was to define what success means to Port Adelaide and we unanimously resolved that success is a premiership. It’s that simple.
I thank the Port Adelaide community for their exceptional loyalty. Our members are something so special for our club and your support again this year has been outstanding.
We established success is not simply being drafted, or playing 100 games or being employed at Port Adelaide – these are privileges.
On-field we have unearthed a group of exciting talents in Darcy Byrne-Jones,
With that in mind, we need people at the club who understand our definition of success.

Every person we hire, every decision we make and everything we do has to go through two filters – will this make Port Adelaide elite and do our players and staff share our definition of success? All our players – including Paddy Ryder, Angus Monfries and our new recruits – have returned to pre-season training with the enormous challenge of not just taking our club from being mediocre to good, but from mediocre to elite and ahead of the AFL curve. This isn’t a one-step transition but requires three steps of significant improvement over the summer months. And although it seems daunting this club has responded many, many times in the past. A new year, new challenge The door has officially closed on 2016 and the anticipation of a new season looms large. We will make history and play a homeand-away game in Shanghai, the first for premiership points outside of Australia and New Zealand. Indeed, ours will be the first western team sport in history to play a game in China as part of a domestic competition. In preparation for that, some of our players and coaches have just returned from a training
and promotional tour in Shanghai where the excitement is building and the opportunities appear endless. Rest assured that every part of our China strategy is about building financial resources to fund an elite football department. We need to continually build alternative revenue streams if we are to win premierships and make our community proud. Commercial opportunities from China will allow us to develop and grow the two pillars of our club - our football and community programs. I thank everyone at the club for their tireless work across 2016 - from players and coaches, to staff and volunteers, to our chief executive Keith Thomas and my board of directors.
Football Club to the top and create our own legacy moving forward. Does the Port Adelaide Football Club and its community have the strength of character to do what it takes to become elite once again? Can we live to our mission statement of existing to win premierships and making our community proud? I have no doubt that a unified Port Adelaide can achieve anything. We’ve done it before and we’ll do it again. Together we can be a powerful force. Thanks again for your continued support, have a great off season and I can’t wait to see you at the footy in 2017.
Again, I thank the entire Port Adelaide community - from our loyal members and supporters to our corporate partners headed by Renault and EnergyAustralia over the last three years. For those who left the club at the end of this season, I wish you and your families all the very best and rest assured that you are always part of the Port Adelaide family, wherever your career may take you. It is time for all of us to start thinking about what we will do to return the Port Adelaide

KEITH THOMAS
ORT Adelaide will celebrate its 147th year in 2017.
As we begin the journey toward our 150th anniversary, we have much work to do on and off the field. First, a reflection on 2016 points clearly to disappointment. To finish outside of the top eight for two consecutive seasons is unacceptable for a football club that measures itself - first and foremost - through its on-field results. The internal response to this disappointment has been a bruising, thorough review of the failings of our football program, including an assessment of our list and program structures. This process is complete, and we have made several football appointments in coaching, administration and high performance to strengthen our club for 2017. Those include the appointment of favourite son Brendon Lade to our coaching panel. Second, a commitment to developing a hardworking and united football club. As shown by the 2016 premiers, the Western Bulldogs, the skill level, fitness and intensity of effort required to win a grand final doesn’t just happen. It takes a unified football club – not just players and coaches, but the back office,
PORT ADELAIDE FOOTBALL CLUB 2016
volunteers and members and supporters – to succeed.
This match means a lot for football, but our club especially.
Our template for success was established in its most basic form back in 2011. You will recall we wrote a simple line to embody what we wanted our club to be – We Are Port Adelaide.
There has been much discussion about our pivot to China.
Being ‘Port Adelaide’ means a raw, basic commitment to simple principles: honesty, hard work, integrity and a determination to be the best. These are things that we know our people – new fans and generations of family supporters alike – identify with. We are not a flashy, glamourous club, nor do we expect things to come to us without hard work. It is often said there are no guarantees in football, and there is a price that must be paid if we wish to taste success. I have great confidence our club will do everything in its power to correct the last two seasons, and hard work in every aspect of the club’s operations is the best way to do that. This brings me to a number of initiatives that every Port Adelaide person can take pride in. Most significantly, the historic first premiership season game in China, which will take place on Sunday 14 May, 2017.
An unprecedented move beyond Australia’s borders such as this was always going to be met with some hesitation, even apprehension, and while there has been much support for this move from our supporters, there have been some concerns as well. This I can completely understand. We are pioneering an advanced move into a market completely foreign to our game, ahead of even the AFL itself, with no template or guide to navigate the unique mix of Chinese diplomacy and business. We have seen some success with this strategy already through the addition of Shanghai Cred Real Estate and Ausgold Mining Group to our list of valued partners. The China agenda has been built on a sound, measured strategy to engage Chinese governments and local communities in Shanghai, working with support from the Australian and South Australian governments at home. Importantly, we have also enjoyed the buy-in of our football department to
7
achieve our ambition of staging a game for premiership points. Our recent promotional tour to Shanghai, involving our senior coach and six leading players was a highly successful trial run to ensure our preparation for this match is of the highest quality. The May 14 game will be a significant moment for our football club, and one that we can all be proud of. It will be a statement about how far our club has come as an innovative and successful force in the AFL. Do not underestimate the potential of our China Engagement Strategy to secure the future of the Port Adelaide Football Club financially, thus protecting us from the ongoing stress associated with relying on handouts and equalisation revenue. Port Adelaide must be strong and financially independent to achieve its dream of sustained on and off field success.
So to 2017. In many ways we’re back at ground zero. No one at Alberton has an appetite for mediocrity. No one has a desire to lose. We are a winning club, with a winning history. Success in the AFL is a different beast – winning is hard; sustained success harder, and premiership glory a distant dream for many clubs. Successful clubs understand that to achieve the extraordinary, requires you to be extraordinary. As the club’s current custodians, that is our challenge today. Together, We Are Port Adelaide.
Beyond China, the success of our commercial partnerships in Australia and the huge support of our supporters to help us crack 60,000 members again in 2016 was significant, and I extend my particular gratitude to the many supporters who turned out to our games at the Adelaide Oval and across the country this year. Once again, we are one of the most attended and watched sporting clubs in Australia.

COMMUNITY REPORT
T
HE club’s Aboriginal programs continue to grow in leaps and bounds and have showed no signs of slowing down. 2016 marked a new participation record for the Aboriginal Power Cup, with 42 schools participating in the annual football and careers carnival held at Alberton Oval in May. With a theme of ‘Powerful Futures – Your Future, Yours for the Taking,’ encouraging students to take their futures into their own hands by looking towards employment or further education, the program continued fostering school attendance, academic achievement and personal empowerment. Only those students who met the academic requirements of the program were invited to partake in the annual football carnival at Alberton Oval. An incredible 375 students participated on the day, totalling a 92% completion rate across the whole program. The boys’ and girls’ grand finals were played as the curtain raiser to Port Adelaide’s Round 9 clash against West Coast at Adelaide Oval, with Christies Beach taking out the win against Murray Bridge for the girls, and Mawson Lakes Campus the eventual victors over Murray Bridge for the boys. The program relies on support from Santos, the South Australian Government and SAASTA, and the club thanks these partners for their ongoing support.
Port Adelaide’s industry-leading WillPOWER program continues to expand its impact in remote areas of the Northern Territory and South Australia as part of the Remote Schools Attendance Program. PORT ADELAIDE FOOTBALL CLUB 2016
With the support of Port Adelaide’s eight Aboriginal players, the WillPOWER team delivered programs to 29 schools and over 650 students in some of Australia’s most remote and disadvantaged communities, including Maralinga, the APY Lands and the NT’s Barkly Region. These communities have the lowest access to services and highest level of comparative disparity, which is why these programs focus on assisting communities to bridge these gaps.
With education at the core of the club’s community work, interactive Cultural Awareness Program at Alberton run with the assistance of current and past Aboriginal players play an important role in fostering inter-cultural understanding.
A key focus of WillPOWER is to improve attendance, retention and completion of middle school.
With 15 sessions held over 2016, the Cultural Awareness programs have proved successful in creating an understanding of traditional culture, its role and impact today, as well as fostering reconciliation between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people.
Students engage in classroom-based modules and regular remote online teaching sessions with Port Adelaide players. As a reward for their attendance and completion of their schooling program, students participate in sports and dance football carnivals in their local region. A highlight of the year was the bringing together of schools and communities from the APY Lands and Barkly Region to attend and participate in the first WillPOWER football carnival in Alice Springs as part of the AFL Indigenous Round. Port Adelaide’s Aboriginal AFL Academy was another success, with 31 students from across SA participating in the 30-week training and education program designed to foster onfield and off-field excellence. Completing a Certificate III in Sport and Recreation and earning 50 SACE Stage 2 credits, participants also competed in football games, interstate travel and a trip to China with Power players as part of Port Adelaide’s November promotional tour in Shanghai.
The sessions are designed to raise awareness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities by providing insights into the history of Aboriginal people, including key issues impacting communities today.
Football continues to act as a wonderful avenue to reach out and engage with local and interstate Aboriginal communities, and Port Adelaide will continue pursuing strong and positive programs, including an innovative three-year Reconciliation Action Plan to expand its reach and impact next year.

ITH two new programs launched and 43,879 young people reached, it’s been a big year for the club’s youth programs team. 2016 saw the successful rollout of the Power to End Violence Against Women program in conjunction with the Government of South Australia and Centacare Catholic Family Services, reaching in excess of 1,500 young men across 21 schools in SA. Designed to address the prevalence of domestic violence within our community, participants were given the opportunity to discuss the issues surrounding violence against women, explore respectful relationships and learn skills necessary to help make informed choices to prevent violent behaviours in the future. As part of the program, the first ‘Dads and Sons’ event was held at Alberton with Ken Hinkley, Travis Boak, Ollie Wines, Matthew White and Gavin Wanganeen on-board as passionate ambassadors. 2016 also saw the establishment of a brand new wellbeing and resilience program - Power to be Positive - which has been delivered nationally and internationally this year. In addition to engaging with 915 students across 22 schools locally, the program has seen significant success among defence force families in both Australia and Penang, where young people are often faced with challenging situations, such as the disruptive nature of moving around. By learning to capitalise on their strengths, think positively and cultivate gratitude, Power to be Positive has helped these young people build lifelong wellbeing skills and resilience.
In addition to two new youth programs, the club’s popular Empowering Youth and Community Youth Programs continue to grow, making a significant impact on young people in South Australia. Empowering Youth is on track to have 120 students from eight Northern Adelaide suburbs schools graduate in 2016. This year the program targeted students who are disengaged from school, encouraging leadership, confidence, respect and health through a mix of class work, physical activity and excursions. With the support of ambassadors Matthew Lobbe, Charlie Dixon, Alipate Carlile and Paul Stewart, students will achieve 10 SACE credits for successful completion of the program by the time they graduate. Meanwhile Port Adelaide’s flagship Community Youth Program reached 22,875 primary school students from 97 schools across the state, thanks to the tireless work of program manager and club legend Russell Ebert, along with support from the South Australian Government. The Powerful Futures program also continues to work closely with club partners and support agencies to assist at-risk students in finding work after school. A total of 32 students were successfully placed in employment or pre-employment programs in 2016.
most recent London Benchmarking Group (LBG) Report, which indicates the value of Port Adelaide’s commitment to the community through its industry-leading programs: • A total contribution of $3.5 million has been generated by Power Community Limited into community programs (excluding additional club support and partner contributions) • Port Adelaide spends one third more time and resources than other sports teams benchmarked by LBG. • Port Adelaide invests nearly 5% of all club turnover directly into funding community programs, representing over ten times the club’s 2015 profit. • Port Adelaide contributes 8.5 times more into Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander programs than all other London Benchmarking Group (LBG) businesses in Australia. • While 8 in 10 businesses have some investment in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander programs, Port Adelaide invests more than twice as much as other sporting clubs. Port Adelaide and Power Community Limited would like to thank all program partners for their ongoing support this year and looks forward to expanding the reach of its youth, Aboriginal, multicultural and female programs across SA, Australia and beyond in 2017.
This is a significant achievement for a program in its infancy, and it will only continue to grow next year. Finally, this year Port Adelaide was excited to learn of some key achievements from the PORT ADELAIDE FOOTBALL CLUB 2016

T
HE upcoming 2017 season shapes as a defining one for our football club.
Over the past two years, our results have created doubt in our ability. It’s my responsibility to lead the club in removing that doubt. That will be no easy challenge in the increasingly competitive world of AFL football. It’s a world where if you’re not improving, you’re going backwards. But I’m up for the challenge. So are our players, our staff and I’m sure you, our supporters, are too. Responding in times of adversity is part of Port Adelaide’s DNA. It’s who we are. The pressure will come, but pressure is a part of success. To be successful you must welcome pressure and rise above it.
PORT ADELAIDE FOOTBALL CLUB 2016
Despite the disappointments of the past season there were reasons to celebrate and to provide optimism. Six of our young players – Darcy Byrne-Jones, Dougal Howard, Austin Logan, Jesse Palmer, Riley Bonner and Will Snelling – earned AFL debuts. Several players took their games to greater heights. Jarman Impey grows in confidence every game, showing he has what it takes to be a truly brilliant player for our club. Jackson Trengove exceeded all expectations when injuries forced him to shoulder the bulk of our ruck load. Aaron Young left memories of the substitute vest long behind him in a career-best season to finish second on our goal kickers’ list. Jasper Pittard was another to have a career-best season by turning potential into

performance on his way to third place in our best and fairest and selection in the AllAustralian squad. Ollie Wines – runner-up in the count - is such a strong and consistent performer that it’s easy to forget he’s just 22 years old. And then there’s Robbie Gray, who became the first Port Adelaide player to win three successive John Cahill Medals. It is an incredible achievement and a testament to his consistency and elite performance over three stand out seasons. He is a deserving winner of our club champion award and has certainly earned his top-two ranking among all of the AFL’s players. The start of the 2017 pre-season marked the official return of Paddy Ryder and Angus Monfries from suspension. We cannot quantify how much we missed them last season, and no one is foolish enough to think their returns will automatically lift us back up the ladder, but they are very good footballers and great people who make everyone around them walk taller. The end of every season brings with it not just a time to review and plan for next year, but the need to farewell people who are moving on after making invaluable contributions to our club. Garry Hocking has variously been my teammate, fellow coach and friend for more than two decades. What he’s done for the Port Adelaide Football Club as midfield, development, SANFL and acting head coach over the past seven years cannot be overstated. Alipate Carlile retires having got the absolute best out of himself as a footballer over 11 seasons and 167 games. He’s an outstanding person who will continue to serve our club in PORT ADELAIDE FOOTBALL CLUB 2016
the community department in 2017, helping the next batch of multicultural footballers come through our system. Jay Schulz came to Alberton ahead of the 2010 season. He shone as a leader on and off the field during a very difficult period in our club’s history and was a key player during our revival. As a multiple leading goal kicker, he has led our attack for over 100 games. We wish him all the best with his footy future. Paul Stewart, Cam O’Shea, Kane Mitchell, John Butcher and Sam Colquhoun have given us great service and in different, but equally valuable ways, been enormous contributors on and off the field. These people will always be warmly welcomed back at Alberton and I wish them all the best with their next challenges. We farewell some, but welcome others. 2004 premiership player Brendon Lade returns to Port Adelaide after seven seasons as an assistant coach at Richmond. His football knowledge and people management skills will be invaluable assets working with our rucks and midfield group. There are far too many people to thank personally for their tireless devotion to helping our club strive for greatness but I’d like to extend my gratitude to the club’s board, administration staff, volunteers, sponsors and of course my football department and support staff for their efforts again this year. They are the life blood of the footy club, and it takes more than me, my coaches and the playing squad to make this football club what it is. But I want to give special thanks to two groups. Firstly to the families of everyone who works with and for our football club. The AFL is an
incredibly demanding industry and our people go above and beyond in their commitment. That wouldn’t be possible without the understanding and support of our families. Finally, but most importantly, to our supporters, especially those who are members. Once again we’ve broken the 60,000-member barrier - a remarkable achievement, which should fill us all with pride. Like the year before it, the 2016 season was disappointing, frustrating and frankly, unacceptable. But that is now history and preparations for 2017 have well and truly begun. Consistency and making the most of every opportunity are the keys to success - not just in games but in every moment of every day. After returning to training in November every member of our entire football department has committed to not simply being willing to work hard, but wanting to work hard. That commitment is a start, but words are cheap and the time for talk is long gone. We will rightly be judged by how we perform in 2017.

E didn’t achieve what we set out to in 2016.
When the real stuff began in September we were already reviewing and planning for 2017 and that process has given our coaches and leaders confidence we can be a contender in 2017. After 11 games, we sat eighth on the ladder with just three wins. We faced a mounting injury toll and it would’ve been easy to write off the season and go through the motions. But that’s not the Port Adelaide way. We fought. We won six of our last seven games by an average of eight goals to finish just one win outside the finals. You can guarantee the top five were relieved we didn’t make it. Clearly though, we do not accept failure like this. However, credit where it is due, the improvement was down to the dedication of our team of coaches, support staff and players.
Our contracted players particularly stood up to the challenges posed by injuries at AFL and SANFL levels. Our slow start to the 2016 season cost us badly and that’s the lesson we need to learn heading into next year. One of the first and biggest challenges I faced as coach was fast-tracking the bonds between our AFL-listed players and our contracted SANFL players. It was a tough task given the guys only really got together once we started playing games in March. The players really led the way in this process, showing me there are no ‘AFL’ players and ‘SANFL’ players - there are only Port Adelaide players. As impressive as they were making connections on and off field this year, we must get that process happening even quicker to hit the ground running in 2017. Though the season as a whole was disappointing, there were some highlights.

Round 9’s 58-point win over then top-ofthe-table South Adelaide showed what we’re capable of when we deliver our best football. Our 39-point win over Central at Elizabeth kick-started our late-season charge and we put in one of our most even team performances of the year to celebrate Indigenous Round with a 41-point win over the Eagles. From an individual perspective Kane Mitchell had a brilliant season to win the A.R. McLean Medal. Steven Summerton continues to take his game and his leadership to new levels and Luke Reynolds had a break-out year with the promise of even better footy ahead of him. Seeing six players in Darcy Byrne-Jones, Dougal Howard, Logan Austin, Jesse Palmer, Riley Bonner and Will Snelling progress through the Magpies to make their Power debuts was also a source of pride for everyone at the club. Stepping into my first senior coaching role was a huge honour and one that brings with it great responsibility. Responsibility to the club, the fans, and the players who have the privilege of pulling on the black and white jumper. PORT ADELAIDE FOOTBALL CLUB 2016
I’ve learnt more than I could have imagined in such a short space of time and that’s thanks to the incredible off-field team I’m lucky enough to work with. From our general manager of football Chris Davies and head coach Ken Hinkley down, the professionalism and commitment they show is truly inspiring. There are too many people to name individually but I have to thank our departing SANFL football manager, Scott Peters. ‘Bluey’ has been a huge part of our club for many years, and was a big part of making my return to Alberton go so smoothly. I wish him all the best with the next challenge in his career. I also have to thank our amazing fans who are the reason we do what we do. The support we get wherever and whenever we play, and back at the club afterwards, is phenomenal. In particular I’d like to mention the Traeger family; Brody, Kelsey, Sophie, Harry, Lily and Kerry. Without fail, they’re at every training and every game. Seeing their passion and loyalty is a constant reminder of how lucky we are to be a part of the Port Adelaide Football Club and why we work so hard to be the best.
The wheel turns quickly in footy and the 2017 pre-season is already here. Our squad returned to training confident of building on last season’s strong finish and rising up the ladder again. It won’t just happen, but the players, coaches and support staff are committed to making whatever sacrifices are necessary to make our people proud.

BEST AND FAIRESTS
ROBBIE GRAY made history in 2016 The midfielder became the first player to win three consecutive John Cahill Medals as Port Adelaide’s best and fairest on the national stage. Despite a disappointing season for the Power on-field, Gray shone as the club’s most consistent talent during another tough campaign. A prolific ball-winner and integral cog in the Power’s midfield machine; a John Cahill Medal hat trick for the midfielder comes as no surprise to those who watched Robbie Gray rise yet again in 2016. Starring performances in the opening three rounds against St Kilda, Adelaide and Essendon earned Gray best-on-ground nods, kicking off the skilful on-baller’s campaign with a convincing bang. A lethal midfielder with the uncanny ability to emerge from stoppages with possession, Gray started 2016 averaging a massive 31 disposals and two goals a game. PORT ADELAIDE FOOTBALL CLUB 2016
But in a season plagued by player injuries for the Power, Gray was no exception. A four-game stint on the sidelines with a hamstring complaint proved a frustrating setback, slowing his vote-polling. Rebounding half-back Jasper Pittard began to look the favourite for the coveted gong - he led the pack by 32 votes at the mid-season bye. But Gray returned to the field with fervor; his unique clearance ability, silky skills and composure under pressure proving vital to the Power’s wins over the Tigers and Kangaroos. He crept back into the lead by Round 19, proving himself as one of the competition’s most elite midfielders, a dangerous force infront of goal and often the Power’s muchneeded spark up forward. Despite a charge home from Ollie Wines in the Power’s final few rounds, Gray’s consistent form simply couldn’t be challenged.
Having played 19 games, he finished the tally 24 votes ahead of runner-up Wines with a total of 230 votes, taking home his third John Cahill Medal gong. In doing so, the decorated midfielder cements his place among Port Adelaide greats and fellow multiple John Cahill Medallists Kane Cornes and Warren Tredrea, who (albeit not consecutively) each have four medals to their names. It’s been a remarkable journey for Gray, who overcame a horrific knee injury in 2013 and has since risen above to produce three outstanding seasons and earn the club’s highest accolade. He may bleed black, white and teal – but there’s nothing Gray about his dedication, or talent.

KANE MITCHELL’S career at Port Adelaide closed on a positive When he took out the club’s highest SANFL award – the A.R.McLean Medal – on the back of a dominant state league season. The 26-year-old polled votes in 11 of the Magpies’ 18 games - making his achievement even more remarkable considering his four games of AFL football during the year. His consistency on-field was also acknowledged through him being awarded the Max Porter Memorial Trophy as the club’s most consistent league player. It was a close finish to the medal count with Magpies skipper Steven Summerton – himself a triple winner of the award – drawing level with Mitchell following Port’s win over Woodville-West Torrens in Round 16. Summerton finished six votes behind Mitchell in second, with revelation key forward Luke Reynolds in third.
Mitchell provided his trademark run to the Magpies’ midfield throughout the year and was instrumental in a number of wins for the black and white. His form led to a mid-year promotion to the senior list and a starring effort on return to the AFL side against Richmond. Despite being delisted at the end of the year, his status as a true fan favourite – a man of the people – will leave him remembered among the Port faithful for years to come.
