Project 01
PROJECT 01 - Character of a Joint & Living Study Space Project one leads students to explore with a very commonly seen construction material - steel. Students study the generic steel joints and learn some of architectdesigned authored joints. Then students use a Hidden Behavior Cheat Sheet with two adjectives as keywords to develop and design their own joints. Once the joints are well developed, students were asked to design a 10x10x10ft cubic space that provides 2-3 people to use as a living space. With the given site, students use all types of steel beams and designed joints to create the structure referring to their keywords.

PROJECT 02 - Material Representation & Temporary Pavilion Project two mainly focuses on the representation of materials and their textures through colors, lines, and hatches. Students need to find some of the material finishes in their neighborhoods, and document its material character with lines and hatches. They will also design new finishes for each material they documented. With the finishes students collected in the material practice, they were asked to incorporate those materials to a 500sqft steel constructed temporary pavilion design. The final deliverables are one black and white poster board and one colored poster board that demonstrate the project in an illustrating way.

Project 03
PROJECT 03 - Structural Design & Collection Space Project 3 follow the theme of steel structural design but brings the project to a larger scale. Students are now designing a 2000sqft two floor collection space. While considering the program of use for each spaces, students also need to have their custom designed structural elements throughout the whole building. The final deliverables need to demonstrate a strong design character and explaining the usage of the spaces. All different types of drawings will composed together to a 72x96 dartboard telling the story all at once.
