THE CAPSULES The capsules is a community housing composed of multiple single person units and family units. The design starts off from the concept of portability and its easy construction. Thus, the units are designed into detachable housings that are able to be 3d printed with concrete on site. Once the units are printed, it can be attached to the central vertical cores on the site and becoming a tower. Each tower is capable containing one family units and 3-4 single units. With this highly customizable design, many compositions are possible to be assembled based on the local residents needs or government requirements. Once it expends into community size, multiple towers are able to have bridges connected for more circulations as well.

CASE STUDY - YAZD WIND TOWER In this project each group of 2 students are responsible for a case study project on a residential housing around the world. The Yazd Wind Tower is mainly focus on the sustainability design of the wind-tower throughout the city of Yazd in Iran. We looked into how does the wind-tower function as a natural air conditioner and how the circulation goes around by multiple drawings and diagrams.

Yazd Wind Towers as known as the wind catchers are an ancient local design of architecture for a sustainability of the air circulation and its function of passive cooling. City of Wind towers is located in Iran, its climate is dry as a desert, and it has a very large day-night temperature difference, ranging from extremely cool to extremely hot. Science evidence has shown that the origin of the wind catcher design and put in use could trace back to 4000 B.C. Many many types of wind tower designs have been developed throughout centuries. Different types, sizes, and openings of a wind tower also became a representation of the social status, richer people will have bigger towers, which function better. In the modern world, this design has applied to many houses which are located in dry and hot climates. Lucy Rong, Bowen Xiong
WIND TOWER HOUSING, IRAN
As of now, locals are still building up these sustainable architectural pieces used to create natural ventilations in all types of buildings, such as residential houses, palaces, and water reservoirs. The function of this tower is to catch the cooler breeze that flows at a higher altitude above the ground and to direct it into the interior of the buildings. The open face towards the wind direction will lead the wind flow into the dwelling area. The opposite opening face will draw the hot air upwards and out of the tower by the nature of air pressure under different temperatures.

WIND TOWER HOUSING, IRAN
Besides the wind tower, the qanat system in yazd also supplement the windtower to cool down the interior. Qanats are the underground channels that are half filled with water. The hot air is drawn from above the ground into the qanat outside of the building, then the air will travel through the water, while cooling down, then travel back up into the houses through the connecting tunnels. Combining with the function of the wind tower, they function as the natural air conditioner that can provide up to 10 degree cooling to the interior dwelling.

Collective Cooking The four sites of Co-operative houses are located along Vermont Ave across to University of Southern California. Together we provide cooking lessons, outdoor dinning spaces, wine tasting center, and food exhibition/market place. This project locates on top north provides various of cooking lessons and classes to the public who are interested into learning new recipes. The ground floor outdoor space provides the planting areas for vegetables and crops. People harvest them and use straight into the cooking classes. After crafting the dishes, they are able to present at the first level in the exhibition hall. Second floor of the exhibition hall also holds up lecture spaces for guest speakers. The dwelling areas are most 1-3 person units housing. This project is intended designed for students or young couples who no longer live with their parents and need to start to learn cooking by themselves.
