ROADPULSE AUTOMOTIVE Can you tell us the history of your business? We are a brand new business and only opened on the first of July 2021, which has been an interesting exercise during COVID-19, especially with the recent lockdowns. We are located at Holtze 22 km southeast of the Darwin CBD and we are a Repco authorised service centre. We take great pride in offering our clients the very best in car servicing and automotive repairs. What services do you offer? We are currently serving all makes and models and we also specialise in all fleet vehicle. This includes everything from brake and clutch, caravans and trailers, diesel repairs and EFI, to engine reconditioning and roadworthy inspections.

I’ve been a mechanic for 20-plus years and I am the proprietor but I also work in the workshop as a mechanic.

Jovi has been a mechanic for eight years and we have Olivia working in reception.

What are the factors – including personal traits and business factors - that have contributed to your success?

Why did you become a member of the MTA? It was really because of the outstanding level of support and service that the association offers to its members. It really is first class. What have been the greatest challenges in 2020/2021 and how have you responded? COVID-19 has had a big impact on the business because in the first week we opened ,we ended up in a four-day lockdown. Then a few weeks later we experienced another lockdown which was for three days.

Our mechanics are very knowledgeable and this is backed up with a very high level of customer service and communicating with customers. How did you get into the motor trade? Both my parents worked in the trade and had their own business. When I was growing up I got to learn a lot from them and I fell in love with working with cars. Today I have been working in the trade for over 20 years. Starting the business is an exciting new chapter.

As a member of the Repco Auto Tech training program, we ensure our technicians are kept up to date with all modern vehicle repair methods.

As you can imagine, this affected our business finances as there were very few cars coming in and out.

I am like a lot of people you speak to, in that I have had a passion for automotive for as long as I can remember. It means my work is also my passion and I enjoy everything that comes with it.

Currently it is myself (Aaron), Jovi and Olivia.
