Y
ep…I put myself on the cover of a magazine! Initially, I grappled with the idea of being labeled as self-centered, vain and narcissistic. The naysayers would certainly have plenty to say! I thought long and hard about it and then decided I didn’t care. I have worked hard AF for many years to build a foundation promoting confidence and boldness. Has it been perfect? Nope. Did I make mistakes? Many. Did I become a better person, and am I still learning? Absolutely. I wonder if this is what Oprah felt when she launched O Magazine? Hah! This is the first issue of The BossMom Magazine where we celebrate and showcase incredible women who are raising future generations and building the infrastructure for their children to do the same. I am honoured to be in the company of some pretty amazing BossMoms! Thank you for trusting me and my team to bring this vision to reality! Welcome to the 2nd annual BossMom Conversation which started last year when we were still early in the pandemic and not yet knowing what life's new normal would have us experience! For many of us, our businesses have been challenged, some of our relationships have been tested, and we’ve maybe even questioned our life’s purpose! Well, we're more than a year in and guess what? We're still standing! I think if we've discovered nothing else about ourselves, we've learned that we really are stronger than we think. We’re BossMoms! Now that we've proven that to ourselves, I believe there is no better time than now to change the narrative from merely surviving, to doing things bigger and even better than ever before. Since the pandemic, we each have a different story to tell. For some it may involve loss and for someone else it could be gain. But one thing is for sure, we've all experienced some form of change and I believe that that’s supposed to happen. Change is the thing that takes you from one level to the next. Personally, I’ve grown. I literally felt myself maturing over the past year. (I also, felt myself aging,
but that’s another story.) The things that used to bother me, don’t bother me as much anymore. I’m following my heart more and listening to my instincts more than ever before. I created this BossMom community to make connections for mothers-in-business who share the common goal of developing their businesses while simultaneously parenting their children. We welcome Momtrepreneurs at various stages of motherhood and of their business life. As mothers, we know that we are influence the lives of our children. But as moms-in-business, do we really know the impact and significance we are making? There is a common thread that runs through the fabric of every BossMom I know - it’s an inability to settle for what we know can be better. Our children are learning some #bossmoves from us. These pages are filled with stories of women who know their value and believe in themselves. We push beyond limits and think bigger than we’re expected to. And every once in a while, we look fear in the face and say… well, get out of my way! My friend Rebecca coined it best when she said “it’s not that I’ve never felt fear, I felt fear, but I did it anyway!” “My children see me going through the rigours of momtrepreneurship. And as they have gotten older, we have developed a profound sense of respect for each other. They are young and wise, and they inject a fresh and insightful perspective to many of the projects I do. They know that I value their opinions which very often influence the decisions I make. When a project comes to fruition, they witness first hand the results of my sweat and tears, and our pride is collective. As a BossMom, it is an extraordinary feeling to know that my children are proud of me.” .

Lashes team are highly trained and certified aestheticians. “We’re in the beauty business, so yes, we take care of ourselves! Firstly, we are committed to a healthy lifestyle inside and out, and secondly, we uphold the highest standards in aesthetics.” Tammy shares more about her passion.
18 | BOSS MOM MAGAZINE |
When did you start Ohh Lashes and why?
Officially in February 2014. But I had been lashing in some form since 2010. Beauty has always been my passion, and I wanted to find a way to share that with others. Lashing made me see the big impact of something so subtle. The first thing someone notices is your face - especially your eyes. They draw people to you, and I love having the ability to enhance such a special feature on a person’s face. Initially, I wanted to learn lash extension application so that I could apply them on myself. However, I later discovered that wasn’t possible... but by then, I had fallen in love with the whole process.

.
"WE’RE IN THE BUSINESS OF BEAUTY, SO YES, WE TAKE CARE OF OURSELVES." How do you make your business stand out in a crowded room?
Less is more. Our lashes look and feel natural.... the goal is to have our clients look like they were born with it! In addition, we offer a luxury service. We focus on creating a curated experience for each and every one of our clients, which sets Ohh! Lashes apart from so many other salons.
What’s the best part of being a lash artist?
The joy you bring to others. When an individual looks fabulous
THINK BIG 2021
they feel fabulous, which affects confidence and how they show up in the world. To have a small hand in bringing that out in someone is absolutely priceless - especially for the first time!
We see the glitz and glamour of the beauty biz. What’s the hard part? Tell us about the behind the scenes of building a successful and glamorous business.
Personally, it’s a small business and I wear my heart on my sleeve. It’s hard to see artists and staff, that I have trained or formed a bond

with go, but it’s the nature of the business. Constantly growing constantly building artists up all with a smile, even when they may become your competition. Additionally, branding is important. It’s what you put your name on and attach it to -- your associations. This means handling every situation with grace as my business is a reflection of me...from the floor to the product line.
What do you think true beauty is?
It’s what’s inside. We live in a superficial world and yes, I heavily partake in that. But honestly, beauty is who you are inside. And that will always be remembered.
As a lash artist, you must have a steady hand and pay attention to detail. Any similarities in being a mom?
You have to be steadfast with what you are teaching them. By engaging the beauty within each individual child, you enhance the natural tendencies of the child. --And that’s the last thing boys want, but hopefully, it rubs off on him one day! But just like in the beauty industry, we work hard and play A lot! My son has it easy, but I try to instill both values in him, as he grows.
How would you like your son to see beauty?
More than skin deep. There’s an initial attraction yes, but I would want Brennan to see past the surface level. I’d want him to look for inner beauty. Look past the superficial things in each person he meets. Do good, be good, and carry yourself with decency. Seek that in the world.
There are many similarities. When lashing, every eye is different, just as every child is different and unique. So, we work with them differently. When working with a child you can’t be scatterbrained.

Skincare Through the Years Aging advice for 20’s, 30’s, 40s and Beyond .
Did you know that up to 90% of the visible signs of aging on the skin are due to extrinsic factors? Fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation, sagging of the skin are all signs we associate with skin aging. How much sun exposure, how we treat our skin, what we use on our skin, lifestyle choices like smoking, drinking, what we eat like too much sugar can all impact our skin. Thing is “Aging is inevitable, but looking your age isn’t”. While skin is personal, and its needs vary according to things like your ethnicity or skin type, there are certain fundamental principles that will help the organ, the largest organ look it’s best in every decade. It's knowledge, that can make caring for your skin simpler and more satisfying, whatever your age.
22 | BOSS MOM MAGAZINE |
THINK BIG 2021
NO MATTER THE AGE THERE ARE BASIC HABITS THAT ARE ESSENTIAL WHETHER YOUR 20 OR 50. 1.
Make sure your cleansing the skin properly. Having the appropriate cleanser for your skin and cleansing the skin morning and evening is essential. Removing dirt, sweat, grime, pollution, bacteria as well as makeup and spf. 2. Wearing UV protection every day. This is one of the most powerful yet underestimated skincare tips I can give. From a medical point of view, it protects our skin from developing sun burns and subsequently skin cancers. From a cosmetic standpoint it prevents all signs of aging that we mentioned before. Fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation, loss of collagen and elastin. So this is the number one preventative tip. Wear Sunscreen EVERYDAY before leaving your house. Even if you are not going to be outside in the sun. Let’s look at the skin at every decade The sooner you can start the better. .
“Aging is inevitable, but looking your age isn’t”
20's Skin:
Skin care in your 20s is incredibly important because what you do or don’t do sets the tone for how your skin looks in the future. Generally, skin in this period is at its healthiest. Skin cell renewal, collagen & elastin production are in their most optimal state. Skin is mostly hydrated, plump & radiant Great time to get into the hygiene habits. Cleansing skin properly, adding in antioxidants like Vitamin C and wearing sunscreen. Common skin concerns: acne, clogged pores, oily skin, irritation to skin from poor skin care habits. A simple regimen that treats the oiliness of the skin is essential and you really need to intervene at the first sign of acne to prevent scarring.
30's Skin:
Your body is undergoing internal & external changes. Stresses of the past two decades start manifesting in visible skin changes. Years of sun exposure, environmental factors & lifestyle choices combined with diminished collagen production leads to appearance of fine lines, uneven texture & tone, pigmentation issues, more visible under eye bags & circles and large pore size. This is a great time to take your skin care up a notch. Adding in a good eye cream, starting on retinol or Retin-A a few nights a week. This is also a great time to start treatments like microneedling to boost collagen production and start looking at preventative Botox.
THINK BIG 2021
| BOSS MOM MAGAZINE | 23
.
40's Skin:
This is a biological milestone as it is perimenopausal period, the period before menopause when the women experience a decline in estrogen levels. Hormone shift means a loss of elasticity & thinner skin resulting in visible sagging of skin, notably in areas of the jaw, neck and chest. Skin issues from your 30s such as hyperpigmentation (increased pore size) fine lines, especially around the lips & eyes, wrinkles and more pronounced dullness and dryness. Some develop adult acne & widening of teenage acne scars. This is the decade that would require a more aggressive approach. Topical Vitamin A is a must; this is your retinol and Retin-A but the store-bought stuff may not be enough. Time to invest in medical grade if you haven’t already. You may need to adjust the percentage of retinol or Retin-A and up to use on a nightly basis. This is going to be your friend. This will help with exfoliation, fine lines, wrinkles texture, tightness and tone. A good exfoliant with glycolic or lactic acids is also needed to break up the bonds of dead skin and keep the skin with a youthful glow. If the skin begins to feel more dry, a good hydrator should be added like the ZO Renewal Creme. Microneedling should be maintained and performed more often. We can also look at peels and may want to introduce fillers to support the deflation that starts taking effect in the face especially the mid face.
50's, 60's Skin:
Visible signs of sun damage & other environmental issues are most noticeable at this age. Intrinsic & extrinsic causes of aging combine to yield more dramatic changes in skin. Skin appears drier, dehydrated, blotchy, uneven, droopy & looser from decreased muscle tone and fat loss while wrinkles and age related growths become more pronounced. Treat pigmentation if not addressed yet. Sun damage and hormonal changes can bring about Melasma and deeper dermal hyperpigmentation. Add treatments that improve
24 | BOSS MOM MAGAZINE |
your skin turnover and continue great skin care your Vitamin C, Retin-A/ retinol - a good growth factor to help with skin surface, skin volume, wrinkle depth and texture ( ZO growth factor and newly formulated growth factor eye). Good time to address the neck, chest, hands if you haven’t started in the 40’s .
70's, 80's and beyond: We don’t stop!!
The truth is, our skin is the first thing everyone sees and healthy skin impacts us in far more ways than just physical health. Healthy skin impacts our confidence levels and ultimately our mental health so it is surprising that this organ is neglected by so many. Overall maintenance is so important, both skin care as well as cosmetic treatments. To carry this body for life we have to be able to maintain our skin health. No surprise that her daughter Jo-Ann’s curiosity and need to create her own scents, led her to research and experiment until she began making her own candles, body butters and creams, and gifting them to friends and family. The Rachael Lane brand name is a combination of the middle names of mom and daughter. Both are creatives at heart, and with Mom armed with a business degree and daughter her Bachelor of Arts in Architectural Studies, the team was ready to take on the world of manufacturing. A core value of Rachael Lane is injecting Jamaican elements into their products. Rose Water Your mother may have a bottle lingering in her bathroom, and your grandmother probably had one in her bathroom and another in her kitchen. You may have heard of it, but there’s a strong chance that you have no idea what it is or what it’s for.
What is Rose Water?
Rose water is a mild, natural fragrance that is sometimes used as an alternative to chemicalfilled perfumes. Rose water has been used for thousands of years, and dates back as far as the Middle Ages. Created by distilling rose petals with steam, it is used both topically in beauty products, and consumed in both food and beverage products. Researchers say it has plenty of potential health benefits, and we’re happy to hear that. Here are some!
.
CLEANSES AND SOOTHES THE SKIN
As a beauty product the antibacterial properties of rose water cleanse the surface of the skin and can help reduce acne. Rose water balances the pH of the skin and has strong anti-inflammatory properties that can also help to reduce the irritation of eczema.
How to use Rose Water as a facial cleanser?
Simply rinse your face with rose water after washing with your normal cleanser and then gently pat the skin dry.
HELPS TREAT INFECTIONS AND STIMULATES HEALING
Rose water has antiseptic and antibacterial properties that can help wounds heal faster. Rose water is often included in a variety of natural and medicinal treatments, and has even been found in eye drops to treat conjunctivitis cases.
How to use Rose Water as an antiseptic cleanser?
Apply Simply Rose Water to clean cotton or gauze and gently wipe the affected area. You can spray the affected area prior to covering with an adhesive bandage.
RELIEVES HEADACHES AND ENHANCES MOODS
Rose water is commonly used in aromatherapy to help relieve headaches and lower stress levels. Rose water has been know to have strong antidepressant and antianxiety properties and is often used at premium spas and health clubs.
How to use Rose Water to relieve headaches?
Simply place 6-8 drops of rose water in a small tub of hot water. Inhale the vapour for 3 minutes in 30-second intervals. You can also apply a compress soaked in rose water to the head for 25-30 minutes. And you can also mist your entire room.
SLOWS THE AGING PROCESS
Rose water is often found in beauty products that are designed to reduce wrinkles when applied topically. Whether this is scientifically proven or not, this is one chance we’re willing to take. Makeup artists also use Rose Water as a facial spray for hydration and setting your ‘beat’.

R
ose water contains vitamins A, B, C, and E, as well as flavonoids and other antioxidants and can be consumed as one of the world’s
oldest ‘beauty ingestible.’
How to use rose water as an antiaging agent?
.
Simply create a rose water mist by adding it to a spray bottle. Mist your face, neck and the back of your hands. You can even mist your pillow for extra good measure. Simply add a few drops of rose water to a cup of hot water (known in Lebanon as white tea) and drink one cup per day for maximum benefits. Rose water reduces wrinkles and age spots due to being high in antioxidants such as vitamins C, E and flavonoids. It is said that the women of ancient Egypt used rose water to help reduce wrinkles and tighten their pores. Today’s experts agree and even say you’ll notice a difference in your skin in one week! Fresh out of college, Emma was fortunate to land her first job with a boutique marketing and staffing agency in Atlanta, where she specialized in event planning, marketing, and client outreach, before being redirected right back to the place she loved to call home, Jamaica. Discovering that she was expecting twin boys, “I couldn’t think of a better place to raise my sons Preston and Liam.” She recalls writing in her journal that she wanted to find a job where she could work from home, on her own terms so that she could still be active in raising her boys, while earning a sustainable income. “My first job had exposed me to real luxury outside of my academic ventures. I created my second job to develop my skills and launch my career as an entrepreneur in Jamaica - the land of laid back luxury.”

as she nervous? Absolutely! “But one thing I’ve learned is that when you set an intention and let it go, it finds you much faster than when you try to
resist.” Emma created a plan to help her mother to market her brand new business venture, Ivy’s Cove - a small villa property in the seaside town of White House, Westmoreland. “Ivy’s was the ‘first draft’ of what I would continue to do. It was the first impression I would create for people who were not aware of the hidden gems Jamaica possessed.” Emma counts it a privilege to experience and live a culture whose love touches the entire world. “Jamaica is a place like no other - I’ve been inspired by its beauty and encouraged to do great things. Jamaica’s roots run deep inside me - granting me the strength and resilience I possess today.” Within one year of her return, Emma had 13 properties on account and an entire luxury brand on her hands. With the goal to enhance and promote brand Jamaica, South Coast Villas has built its reputation by encouraging partnerships with talented local individuals, island wide tour guides, excursions and adventure parks. Providing jobs during the pandemic has been a key success point for Emma, whose team has been working consistently in food production, housekeeping, fishing and transportation. Her properties have hosted a plethora of local and international celebrity guests. “I’m proud to be able to introduce people all over the world to the community that raised me.” Emma is a ‘country girl’ at heart, who is proud to help Jamaicans rediscover their island. She laments that it had always troubled her that so many locals never got to experience the best parts of their own island. Today she is happy that South Coast Villas is making that market more accessible. “My sons don’t know it yet, but they brought me home and made me who I am today. I have them to thank for introducing me to the BossMom in me. They are my biggest motivators to succeed in business and as a mother.”

Standing by at a patients’ bedside with friends and family around is a familiar position for many doctors. It takes strength, discipline and empathy. But after a while, it becomes relatively easy to set aside personal feelings and to maintain composure and perspective despite the circumstances that prevail. “You learn to channel your emotional energy to the right place.” Every good doctor lives this. Every successful business owner knows this. And every mother feels this.

r. Karen Phillips is a well of wisdom and knowledge. Not necessarily because she’s simply a ‘bright’ girl, but because she’s chosen to learn from everything that life offers to teach. “I continue to learn every day from medicine, from business and now, from being a mother.” She’s a decorated and accomplished Consultant Physician, whose other ‘day jobs’ as an Associate Lecturer at the University of the West Indies and partner at Meridian Medical Specialists, only add fuel to her energy to run her ‘passion business’ as the co-founder and Medical Director at Revamp Comprehensive Rehabilitation Centre. “Dr. Phillips is a giver-of-self and a lover-of-life. It’s as if she’s pre-disposed to giving before receiving. I honestly believe that this is what gives her her ‘Energizer Bunny’ energy to be able to constantly pour into others,” shares Dr. Claudine Lewis. Her colleagues speak highly of her as if still in awe of the woman, the doctor and the friend that they have known for years. If you’re not one of her many scheduled appointments, you’d be lucky to find Karen Phillips with a few moments to spare on any given day during the week. To say that she’s busy is an understatement. But somehow in the process of divvying up her time, she manages to attend to patients across all major hospitals in Kingston, tend to her private practice, meet with friends for lunch, do school projects with her son, attend to her mother, be on time for yoga class and catch up on the latest Netflix movie. If balance was a person… .

When Doctor Phillips received her first salary as a young doctor in late 1990s, she thought to herself.... ‘and I get paid for this!?’ She was soon living her passion, having known that medicine was her calling from her early twenties. Her friends and family all knew it too. Before she became an intern, Karen was the caregiver for all in her purview. If you felt ill, you called Karen. If your Aunt felt ill, you called Karen. If your grandfather felt ill…. you guessed it. And Karen always answered. She was never too busy, and she was never too far away. Today, the only things that would have changed are her credentials.

But I am excited by the journey back to wellness, and I’m driven to help every single patient through their personal rebirth to being revamped.”

t the time of its birth, Revamp Comprehensive Rehabilitation Center was the first rehabilitation solution in the Caribbean to offer comprehensive Neurorehabilitation under one roof. Dr. Phillips built a state-of-the-art facility that offered first world amenities, a trained medical team of the highest level and most importantly, life-changing transformative care. Today, 12 years on, Revamp offers both out and inpatient neurorehabilitative, orthopedic and spinal rehabilitative care. “It warms our hearts to witness the lives changed and the families impacted by the care we offer.” As an entrepreneur, she is constantly reminded by her Action Coach that while rehabilitation at Revamp is her ‘passion business’ it is ALSO a real business. reminder that a big part of her responsibility as a company and as an employer, is providing a livelihood for her staff as we all play our role in nation-building. This is no small feat she has learned. “Medicine is my comfort zone and something I spend a lot of time honing. But for some reason I thought running a business would have been second nature! I have come to appreciate that this is not true,” she laughs. “I think I’ve made every mistake there is to make in business! Entrepreneurship is not my training. I kind of went into business thinking that intelligence would take me through. Ha, was I wrong! People go to school for this for a reason. Like a true lifelong learner, Karen has armed herself with the necessary tools, she has embraced the challenge and is learning from her mistakes. “Most importantly I’ve equipped myself with the necessary tools.
I have very good friends who guide me, I read a lot and I have a Coach. But most importantly, I believe in what I do.” She suggests to anyone going into business whether it’s a passion project or not - get solid advice. Her default action when she falls short of her own high expectations? “I wheel and come again!” She laughs. Karen laughs a lot and believes that it truly is medicine for the soul. To her staff and patients, she’s a confidante and trusted medical practitioner. But back at home, to her 6-year-old son Theo, she’s just ‘Mummy’. He has no clue how many lives she saved or how many times she has restored hope and dreams to individuals and families alike. Theo only knows that when Dr. Mummy comes through the doors, it’s his time to shine. And shine he does.

Does brilliance run in the family? “He’s quick witted, incredibly independent, and quite the comic and I wake up each day wondering how I got so lucky.” Dr. Phillips says she can’t take all the credit for herself in raising Theo to be so balanced. She shares her saving grace, and recommends to every BossMom to exercise, eat well and seek help from your village whenever you can. “My support network of family and friends help me to maintain stability at home, while I’m off working to do the same for my patients. I work very hard, and I know that I can’t expect to give Theo my best and to be a good mother to him, if I’m not mentally and physically prepared to parent.” Does Karen ever have days when she feels like she’s not doing well at Dr. Mom? “For sure I have those days. There really aren’t enough hours in the days to do it all. I accept that I can’t do it all and rely heavily on my network.” Juggling medicine and business occupies her time and satisfies her professional goals, but her work life pales in comparison to what she describes as her most rewarding role - mothering Theo. This job is life; it’s intuition, it’s passion, it’s caring and it is understanding love. “I have been blessed with the most beautiful soul who allows me to ‘mess up’, yet comforts me with incessant hugs. His love is palpable and paves the way for me to fulfill this most important job of all. He really keeps my heart smiling. My own journey has made me so appreciative of the bond that is mother and child. And unlike medicine and business, there really is no blueprint.”

Which BossMom Are You In Wine? By Debra Taylor-Smith (article adapted in parts)
E
ach BossMom has her own style of doing things. While we may all have similar goals of building our businesses and raising our children, we each do it differently. Experts are able to categorize our boss styles into groups that are identified by particular leadership habits. Some of us lead with authority, some us with permissiveness, and the rest of us fall somewhere in between the two. Reputed wine connoisseur and BossMom Debra Taylor-Smith takes us on an innovative wine lesson, as we pair our boss style with the wines that suit our palates and our personalities!
THE AUTHORITATIVE BOSSMOM says exactly what
she requires of her team members and holds them to high standards – there is no wiggle room for trial and error at work and when it’s time to unwind, the Authoritative BossMom knows exactly what wine style she likes. A big, bold red wine suits her personality and so The Prisoner red blend is recommended. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Malbec, Petite Sirah, it features aromas of Bing Cherry, dark chocolate, clove and roasted fig. On the palate, persistent flavours of ripe raspberry, boysenberry, pomegranate and vanilla linger harmoniously for a smooth, luscious finish.
52 | BOSS MOM MAGAZINE |
THINK BIG 2021
THE PERSUASIVE BOSSMOM uses her skills of
persuasion to convince employees that the unilateral decisions that she implements are for the good of the team. The BossMom using this style would explain the reasons behind her decision-making process and policies. To ensure all her team members can enjoy a glass of wine with her, Persuasive BossMom would go with a Prosecco as it is a crowd pleaser and she knows she could persuade everyone to have a glass with her. So Santa Margherita Prosecco is her perfect choice - dry with fine, lively bubbles, delicate pear, and apple fruit aromas and a crisp finish. Whether served at the beginning of a beautiful evening for two, or sipped throughout a lively meal with friends, this celebrated bubbly is versatile and ideal for any occasion.
THE CONSULTATIVE BOSSMOM asks for the
opinions and thoughts of her team. Although she will make the final decision, she will review and consider the opinions of others before proceeding. Consultative BossMom would have options so her team members would be able to have a glass of wine whether they like red or white, sweet or dry. For her, we recommend Robert Mondavi Private Selection Heritage Red Blend - it opens with decadent aromas of chocolate-covered cherry, strawberry shortcake and vanilla bean. On the palate, strawberry preserve, raspberry tart, cherry cola and milk chocolate give way to a sweet, lingering finish. For the white-winers, she could serve Pasqua Pinot Grigio - a pleasant, fruity wine with notes of pear and apricot as well as floral hints. Fresh, harmonious and well balanced with a crisp, clean finish.
.
THE PARTICIPATIVE BOSSMOM together with her
team, all participate in the decision-making process. Everyone is encouraged to share their thoughts and ideas, and they are prompted to create solutions. Our Participative BossMom would have a selection of wines for her team to choose from - red and white in sweet and dry options. Her selection could comprise the delicious semi-sweet red Primal Roots red blend - a full-bodied, smooth red blend of Merlot, Syrah and Zinfandel with aromas of raspberry, black currants and mocha along with flavors of cherry, chocolate and vanilla. Her dry alternative could be Robert Mondavi Private Selection Rum-Barrel Merlot which shows bright aromas and flavors of smooth cherry, plum and strawberry with hints of cedar, black olive and spice—supported by a supple texture with fine-grained tannins and bright acidity. Her white wine options would be Banrock Station Moscato - light and lively with fresh, bright and crisp acidity, it is lightly bubbly with a healthy dose of peach and apricot fruitiness and notes of honeysuckle. The dry white option of Barton & Guestier Chardonnay with a fine and elegant nose mixing white fruit aromas (pear, quince) with vanilla notes. Fruit driven on the palate, the attack is fresh, followed by a round and supple texture. Flattering oaky notes appear on the finish.

THE COLLABORATIVE BOSSMOM creates an open
forum for ideas to be discussed extensively before making decisions based on majority rule. The team is empowered to take ownership of outcomes, which can lead to increased engagement, innovation and creativity. In this open forum, the Collaborative BossMom has a selection of wines that would appeal to the varying tastes of her teammates. Her list would include Cavicchioli sparkling Rosé with its fine bubbles and crisp acidity, pale pink ‘candy’ colour, fresh and fruity red fruit nose and slightly spicy delicious strawberry taste; Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc - on the nose, a bouquet of citrus and tropical fruits backed by characteristic herbaceous notes. An exuberant wine brimming with flavours of pineapple and stone fruit with a hint of herbaceousness on the palate. The finish is fresh and zesty and for a nice easy drinking red, Robert Mondavi Private Selection Pinot Noir, a dry, medium-bodied, juicy red wine with cranberry, raspberry, rose petal and black tea notes, medium tannins give a delightful, fruity finish. .
THE TRANSFORMATIONAL BOSSMOM is
extremely growth-focused. She sees a bigger picture and pushes her team to stretch themselves. She is constantly encouraging and motivating her team to raise their bar for achievements. The Transformational BossMom would want to celebrate her team’s achievements and toast them with champagne so our GHMumm Olympe Rosé, the Cuvee of our very own Usain Bolt, would be ideal - Mumm Olympe Rosé is characterized by the intensity of Pinot Noir, the signature grape variety of Maison Mumm. The Pinot Noir is selected from some of the most prestigious crus in Champagne, and their intensity dominates the fruity aromas of Pinot Meunier and the delicate nature of Chardonnay. Notes of vanilla and caramel are also present. This blend has a stand-out personality. Lively and fresh, it is ideal for celebrations.
THE COACHING BOSSMOM sees herself as a guide and
a resource to her team. Her job is to develop and lead her team, making their personal and professional development a top priority. Coaching BossMom would try to encourage her team to try new varietals and widen their palate. She would suggest Catena Malbec for its deep aromas of ripe red and dark fruits, joined by delicate violet and lavender notes, with traces of vanilla and mocha. A rich, concentrated mouthfeel is highlighted by flavors of blueberries and blackberries with a touch of leather and cinnamon with wellintegrated tannins, bright acidity and a lengthy finish; alongside an interesting white varietal like Riesling and Kung Fu Girl Riesling is ideal with its white peach, mandarin orange and apricot notes, and a core of minerality that makes this off-dry Riesling crisp and refreshing. Whether you lead with authority, permissiveness, or fall somewhere in between, the diverse range of wines available allows you to find an ideal match for your style, taste and mood. Explore varietals, regions, styles and make your #BossPalate shine!

Using The Power of Intention To Fuel Your Greatness .
C
By Stacey Hines, Author, Coach, Executive, Speaker
an we have it all? ...and all at the same time? For some of us mothers, we shelve many dreams to focus on our children’s survival. Sometimes we feel we must out of necessity, other times because we may harbour self-doubt and guilt. It is hard to feed and give life to our dreams and to nurture our passion in the midst of taking care of others; our desires typically, sacrificially, get lost. Focusing on the challenges and frustrations that often accompany motherhood, the daily norms of managing multiple personalities, activities and schedules can drain our energy and shift our attention from the sweetness of our dreams. How can you then possibly find time to think big? The things that you want for yourself, the dreams you know hold the keys to your happiness seem impossible, this adds more frustration and doubt which holds your attention, and ultimately further delays realization of the very desires.
60 | BOSS MOM MAGAZINE |
We tend to obsess over having what we want right now and seeing evidence that it is happening, otherwise we exist in doubt and disbelief and unconsciously create an energy of lack and scarcity. Does this mean we should not desire, visualize and work towards the life experiences we want? No, it means we need to equip ourselves, especially our minds with tools to help us. Why focus on your mind though? Well simply... You don’t get what you want, you get what you focus on. To accelerate realization of your dreams you should focus on thoughts that support your "feel good". We have to be intentional, mindful and positive to consistently foster the limitless thinking that brings success, joy and satisfaction. We’ve all had our countless challenges. On a practical level we know we have to “take action and let the universe do the rest” but our feelings may sabotage us and fuel inaction.

hen we shift to keeping our intention top of mind and pull on the juice from that feel good place, we get the energy to power through, we create, we dream and think big. We remember who we are at our very core; greatness in a seed, waiting, needing to bloom and flourish; nurtured with self-love, the essence of who we are, we are fueled to take inspired action. One tool I use personally is daily affirmation cards so I can have a clear intention for myself each day. She has worked with businesses across the Caribbean region, North and Central America, and Haiti. Judy is mom to 16-year-old Josii-Ann and 15-year-old Ella and is a known ‘badass’ both to her daughters and also in corporate circles. “I Love Women. My coaching program, “Own Your Badass,” is specifically designed to help passionate, ambitious women own their badassery so that they can create the personal and financial freedom they desire.
| BOSS MOM MAGAZINE | 67
How? Judy shares with us her take on how we can each discover Our Own Badass. My Philosophy is that Women do not ‘have a place’. We belong everywhere.
Are there goal indicators that tell us we’re badass? I love this question. When I started branding myself as #badass, a company asked me to do some work with one of their departments based on my #badass coaching program, but asked me to change the name. I declined and offered them another program that my company does. Why? Because they were not ready to step into their authentic power. We are usually pulled by desire and passion and pushed by discontent, and how we deal with that push and pull can cost us dearly in terms of time, money, and peace of mind. You get to #badass status when you have done the work that is required to quench that longing and discontent we feel on the inside. Becoming badass certified takes work, it takes forgiveness starting with self, it takes letting go of things and people who no longer serve you and it takes healing. A #badass queen knows and lives her values daily; she will not compromise them in any way. She will not shrink. She is firm but gentle. She knows that she is worthy and worth it. She puts herself first because she knows if she doesn’t she won’t be any good for anyone. She feels the fear, but she does it anyway. She chooses faith over fear every time. .
How does one choose a purposedriven career?
I do nothing that does not light my soul afire. Nothing. There was a time in my life when I did work out of fear of not being able to pay my bills, work that left me dead on the inside. Work that did not spark my creativity. Now, my work must align with my values. Whatever I do I must be passionate about it, and it must bring a better life to those whom I do it for. I believe that a purpose-driven career must serve a much bigger purpose than ourselves. For me, this could look like waking up in the middle of the night to write down ideas about how I can help women to get right with their money. I am also constantly thinking of ways to help companies become better by treating their employees better, by changing their culture to one that is people-centred.

For many of us, becoming badass means re-conditioning our minds where there is no room for doubt or failure – something we often develop as children. How can we instill ‘ badassery’ in our kids, without inadvertently teaching them to be egotistic? It starts with the example we show them, children learn by the examples we set. I posted a photo of one of my daughters and someone commented that even my confidence was shining through her. I teach my children to take responsibility for their actions, to be respectful, and to adapt and make use of the resources available to them. Keeping silent about injustice is not something that I do, so they learn about speaking up for themselves and others who are unable to. Having the time, money, freedom continuum is important to me, so I teach them about money and the abundance mindset. They also had to play at least one contact sport. Contact sports teach teamwork, empathy, support for others, and kindness. We are a family that celebrates so that they understand the necessity of celebrating both big and small wins. My kids have had to learn very early how to laugh at themselves and not take everything too seriously. We all make mistakes, deal with
70 | BOSS MOM MAGAZINE |
them, and move on. Children need to understand that a mistake is just that, a mistake. It does not define who they are. Confidence and humility are the stuff that #badassery is made of, we must help our kids to get both, not one or the other.
What advice would you give to moms-in-business who equate ‘ badass’ to extraness or ‘too much?
I have a friend that says, “extra is a code word for excellence.” Those who view #badass as “nuffness” have not yet stepped into their authentic power. They have not yet claimed all of who they are. So many times, we reduce ourselves so that we can fit into society’s mold for who we must be. What that has the potential to do is cause us not to play full-on. When we don’t play full-on, when we don’t show up in our power, we are unable to take ourselves and our business to the next level. My advice to those moms would be to take some time to understand why they are critical of the term “badass.” Chances are they might be silently wishing they could embrace that part of themselves. If that’s the case, then I would say, do the work that is required to get you to that point. Ask for the help you need, hire a coach if you must, but do whatever you have to do to get you to
embrace and walk in your authenticity. And know that authenticity is not cliché, that power does exist.
As mothers, we know how influential we are in the lives of our children. But as moms-inbusiness, regardless of our field, how do we create an impact and significance in the world?
By doing what we love, and doing it with passion. By showing up and standing out. By serving how you are called to serve. By recognizing that we are here for a purpose that is bigger than us and if we walk in our purpose instead of worrying about what others may or may not think about us, we will have the impact that we are meant to have and leave an indelible impression long after we are gone.
What are 3 key factors to consider when wanting to build a company that can be both profitable and mission-based?
Passion – Are you driven by passion or only profit? Profit alone will cause burn-out. Values – Is it in alignment with your values? Let your values be your signpost along your journey. Purpose – What’s your purpose? This is your big WHY.

Her new book Fearless couldn’t be better timed. With so much uncertainty and fear all around the world, we are faced with a new set of challenges causing us to dig deeper, think bigger and move in the face of the unknown. But it is now more than ever that we must just do it. My first question for Rebecca - Have you always been fearless as an entrepreneur? Her answer, ”It doesn’t mean I’ve had no fear, it means I’ve done it anyway.”

I
thoroughly enjoyed my chat with Rebecca Minkoff. With almost one million followers on Instagram, it is Rebecca who responds to the DMs and comments. She personally engages her audience and is quick to interact with those who speak to her.
With your level of success and global reach, why have you chosen to be so accessible?
.
I don’t have a rags-to-riches story where Vogue deemed me as the designer that everyone should have - it was really through my consumers. I was made successful by my customers voting for me and me being accessible to her [the customer] from the beginning. This means a lot to me and as a brand, I have chosen to maintain that type of relationship.
What are the things that help you stay organized each day?
Organization is key and my solution is really simple. I use these little sticky notes with lines on them and squares that I get to check off every time I do something. I feel accomplished. That feels really good! What are your time management secrets! I attempt to batch my activities - whether it’s creating content, doing podcasts, or responding to emails - so that I can focus on one thing for several hours and do it well. BUT, I’m drowning right now, so I can’t say that all these techniques are woking perfectly! Lol Sometimes, I just have to say “Oh well!”
Why is Rebecca drowning right now? Well - she’s just coming off of a fashion week and heading straight into a Female Founder’s Day event and she’s launching her new book! That’s what happens when you scale your business and your brand grows.
In 2001, Rebecca designed a version of the “I Love New York” t-shirt as part of a five-piece capsule collection, which appeared on The Tonight Show and became an overnight sensation.

4 years later, in 2005, she designed her first handbag, which she dubbed the “Morning After Bag,” a.k.a. the “M.A.B.” This iconic bag ignited Rebecca’s career as a handbag designer and inspired her edgy, feminine creations in the years to come. She became the doyenne of statementmaking handbags and accessories with her trademark leathers, studs and hardware. Rebecca’s success was further enhanced by the support of her brother, the company’s CEO and co-founder, Uri Minkoff, who helped usher in and pioneer the company’s industry-leading innovations with technology and fashion. Another four years later, Rebecca returned to her roots of apparel design and introduced her first ready-to-wear collection in 2009. In the spring of 2017, Rebecca Minkoff Watches was launched, reimagining the category through their decidedly downtown, rock-and-roll aesthetic. In September of 2018, Rebecca established the Female Founder Collective, a network of businesses led by women who invest in women’s financial power across a socio-economic spectrum by enabling and empowering female-owned businesses. Last year in 2020, she launched a diffusion line of children’s clothing called ‘little minkoff”, and most recently, her new name sake fragrance became available at retailers across the US.
Busy much?
Yes, and that’s not all. Next month, Rebecca launches her first book, Fearless: The New Rules for Unlocking Creativity, Courage and Success in which she charges you, the reader, to “take your rightful place in the driver’s seat of your own life and career.” Hers is a strong and respected voice that encourages women to use focused and fearless strategies to achieve success. She shows in her book that if you remain hungry, work hard, and face the unspoken rules that have held women back for centuries, you can make success happen for yourself.

How have you applied lessons learned ‘ in business’ to your role as a mother?
I don’t know that I have connected those two. I feel like the strength and toughness you have as a mother has informed my views as a business person more than the other way around.
As a BossMom, what is your opinion on mixing your personal life with professional life on social media - in the same space where you also connect with your customers?
I’ve done it in the past, but I’m taking a less-is-more approach going forward. As a brand we have learned and honed in on what our customer wants to see, and it’s important to figure out the balance of personal and professional. Who really needs to see me changing a poopy diaper when I’m selling you a luxury bag?
How would you describe your parenting style? .
My husband says we have free-range children. (Laughs) I like to give them a lot of freedom with regards to being self-determined in their own little bodies. But I’m also very firm in making them realize the value of work and how important it is to stand up for themselves. As long as I know that I’m raising children who are strong and efficient and good at what they’re doing, I can let them go out and get lost a little bit, because I know that they have a good foundation.
What is one pearl of wisdom that you would share with the mother who wants to go into business? The building of your business and career is gonna take all of you. I built my business for at least 7 years before I had my first child, so I was able to devote the nights and weekends to my company. I know that as a mother, it is hard to build a business and have kids. So if you do decide to go for it, just don’t berate yourself. Will your business grow at a slower rate? 100%! But that’s the trade off, especially in the time period when your children need you the most. So rather than creating strict timelines, set realistic goals for yourself that will allow you to spend time with your children without feeling like you are forsaking success. They can both happen, but there will be ebbs and flows to both.
What have been some of the challenges you have faced as a working mom? There’s never enough time in the day. There are times when I feel like I can’t be fully present with my kids even though I’m physically there, because I’m stressed out about work - usually that happens around a fashion show. And then there are sometimes when you do prioritize your kids, but then you feel penalized.

“Being fearless doesn’t mean you have no fear, it means you do it anyway.”
Who are your role models?
The Female Founders who have had to face odds and adversities and have overcome them. The Jessica Albas, Ali Webbs and Jamie Kern Limas of the world…all these women are amazing examples. No one gave them anything. Bozomo St. John may not be an entrepreneur, but what she’s built in her career is phenomenal. She’s had overwhelming adversity and still, as a single mother, she’s ‘killing it’ everyday. These women have had to crawl their way to the top.
What are some of the books that have inspired or motivated you in your journey?
I’d be lying if I told you that I had time to read! Last book I read was Shoe Dog by Phil Knight. (Nike creator - you should read it.) It made me fall in love. If this man could create such an incredible legacy as a company, and he went through what I went through, then it’s all worth it.
What’s your most memorable experience as an entrepreneur?
When we shut down Green Street in New York in 2016 and hosted a show for 5000 people! The naysayers said that it couldn’t be done. So not only could we NOT do a ‘see-now, buy-now’ show, not only could we not use influencers in our show, but we did it, and to have it be such a success, that was an incredible feat. That was really great!

It gave us new audiences and it helped to increase our search over 70%. Find other companies where you may have an overlapping audience and see what you can do to lift each other up. .
What are your success habits?
100% of someone’s success is their persistence to go on a given course, their ability to get back up when they’re knocked down and their ability to always try to find a solution to a problem, versus throwing up their hands. There is always an answer. Maybe not always the answer that we want, but there always is an answer. Always. Don’t be afraid to use your network. There are so many people you know who can help you and who you can help. I think if one can focus on that, especially when times are tough, looking at a different perspective will always be helpful. Being fearless, doesn’t mean you have no fear, it means you do it anyway. At the end of the day, it all boils down to not giving in to your fears. For Rebecca, that’s the signal difference than just never being scared. Today, she’s less scared. “Because I’ve done it enough times, I’m more comfortable living in that arena. As an entrepreneur when I first started, I had nothing to lose - literally. So why not plunge head-first? Now, obviously there is a lot more to lose, but that just means that I have to be even bolder in my choices and try new things. I believe entrepreneurs should never get comfortable so having that fear is good, but not letting it stop you is even more important.” www.rebeccaminkoff.com

n 1998, before there were investors, customers, profits or products, there was one woman with two children in college, colossal tuition fees becoming due and for the first time since she was 18 years old, without employment. Having just severed ties with the medical and pharmaceutical distribution company at which she spent 11 years, Myrtis needed to quickly identify and pursue next steps. company, MDS Ltd, in a market space dominated by established giants. With no comfort of a plan B and no time to succumb to fear, a blue Volvo 850 (with roving office in its trunk) roamed the streets of Jamaica, steered by a 52-year-old woman trying to jumpstart her professional life - at an age when many would be aggressively pursuing the idea of slowing down and eyeing a retirement plan. The idea of starting over at mid-life is daunting, but when survival is at risk, you will be surprised at the worldrecord heights you will jump to ensure that you make it through. The adrenaline to leap is even more powerful when you consider your children and your desire to ensure that all their needs are met.

hat made her want to become a boss? How did she find her source of strength, her courage and her relentless will to defy the odds? A deeper exploration transports us decades earlier to a little girl living on Narine Lane in the fishing village of Old Harbour Bay who was conditioned to take care of her younger brother, Rupert, and those around her from the tender age of five (5) after the tragic and untimely passing of her breadwinning father. It was at this pivotal moment that much of the carefree nature of childhood was replaced with adult-like responsibilities and a laser focused determination that came from being in survival mode. Unable to continue the rent for their home, Myrtis’ mother utilized land belonging to her father and completed a little wooden structure that they would call home. It was not much; truth is, it was hardly anything, but it was home, it kept them all together and it was theirs. Though she had less means than most in her district, she never felt ‘less than’. It did not hurt that she was always said to be a very pretty girl who was immaculate in her appearance. Myrtis’ mother, Athaliah Davis, previously a home maker, turned to the assets of the nearby seaside for her new livelihood - buying fish in Old Harbour Bay and travelling to Porus to sell the product, forced to overnight when the produce went unsold. During these times, Myrtis supervised her sibling, preparing food and tending to his needs. Unable to go to school until she was eight years old because of the inability to afford the fee and all the associated expenses (such as lunch), it is marvelling how she was able to ascend to the top of her class when she did have the privilege of attending Old Harbour Primary School. Fast forward to the age of 18 and Myrtis would transform her lifelong skill of taking care of others into her professional path of nursing. After studying at UHWI, she passionately pursued an intense career in the field beginning at the National Chest Hospital (where she was instrumental in the name change from George V Sanitorium) followed by teaching stints at the Kingston School of Nursing and subsequently in the In Service Unit of the Ministry of Health (where she won the title of Miss MOH Beauty Queen in 1970). .

O
n the personal side of life, challenges were of a different kind, but requiring much of the same tenacity she heeded all her life. Topping the list was not the struggles of her relationship, the uncertainty surrounding how to make ends meet or beginning again at the age of 52 but, rather, a moment in 1998 after the doorbell of her home rang at 2 a.m. in the morning, when a friend of her child greeted her with the news that her son was in a car accident; an accident that would find him close to knocking on death’s door. With no tears shed, Myrtis’ fight mode kicked into high gear, amassing all her resources to ensure preservation of life for her firstborn. The loss of her brother to colon cancer in 2014 was another crippling moment that has yielded unrelenting pain. Yet, despite it all, she always seems to find continuous bouts of humour to stir her infectious laugh. It is no accident that she has made it from her roots in Old Harbour Bay. It was undoubtedly the result of deliberate efforts, extreme resilience and focus. By real world standards, statistics suggest that she wasn’t supposed to have made it. But Myrtis has shown that where you come from does not dictate where or how far you will go. When asked what advice she would give to her younger self, Myrtis offers “Everything you will go through will not be wasted; it will all profit your soul. Stay strong. And be persistent in prayer. The best is yet to come.” We all have different goals, desires, and ways of leading our lives, and we should all value that unique journey. Ultimately, we are women trying to be good parents and good business owners at the same time. We yearn to pursue what we love, love who we are, and create something beautiful in this world. She adds, "Whether you are a boss that is a mom or a mom that is a boss, we all have different goals.... ....be good parents, good partners and good business owners at the same time. We yearn... ...in this world. Own who you are. Be strong. And believe! God is still in the miracle working business. Just do your best, and He will undoubtedly do the rest." .

was asked about my greatest fear in an interview 20 years ago. Without a second thought, I replied, "Dying before my son can take care of himself." He was six at the time. But a mother's love never wanes, as now that he is 26 and capable of taking care of himself, my greatest fear is outliving him. My son's birth gave me purpose. He became my 'WHY'. The desire to provide him with a good life fueled my passion for exceeding most of my life goals by age 25. Born into a poor family in rural Jamaica to a teenage mother and an infamous father, Odetta has had a life that is nothing short of a miracle. She lost her infamous father when she was six to criminality; she did not graduate from high school, was a college dropout who was pregnant twice before she was age 17, once from sexual abuse resulting in an abortion that she thought left her sterile. Despite her many life lessons, by age 25, Odetta became a Vice President in a US Fortune 500 company that is today Xerox and built her first dream home for her extended family. That was only the beginning, as Odetta would go on to achieve goals that many thought impossible and retired from working in corporate at age 42 to pursue her dreams. She is the founder and CEO of GOFFAH Global, an eCommerce platform that pays its members commissions when they refer products to customers that buy them. She is also a published author. 'No Regrets, Just Lessons: Odetta Rockhead, UNEDITED' is Odetta's recently released self-help memoir. It beautifully captures Odetta's real-life story of triumph with the use of 12 critical life lessons in a "Raw, gut-wrenching, soul-provoking, and brutally authentic" manner, says one reader. The book effectively engages the reader using workbook type exercises, charts, templates and bold concept coloured photography that makes it a keepsake. In her memoir, Odetta explores the topic 'Mummy Guilt', a concern for many boss moms. She is a Board-certified Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon with specialty fellowship training in aesthetic surgery of the face, breast and body. “I always knew I wanted to be a surgeon, because I like to be hands-on. I was an athlete when I was younger, so perfecting a skill is part of my DNA. Plastic Surgery allows me to use my skills in an artistic way.” She is a high-achieving, self-motivated Type A personality, who admits that many people misread her as a Type B. As a female physician and plastic surgeon, Dr. Gill has a sensibility and keen understanding of her patients’ needs and cosmetic goals. She distinguishes herself as a consummate artist in the fields of breast surgery, facial rejuvenation, body sculpting and anti-aging. To create exquisite, natural results for her clients, she provides a compassionate, personalized and intuitive approach based on integrity, precision and innovation. She is consistently fine-tuning her techniques to remain on the cutting edge of cosmetic science. Dr. Gill and her team offer surgical and non-surgical options for both men and women including face, breast and body rejuvenation procedures as well as a variety of non-invasive skin and spa treatments in a private, tranquil, state of the art environment. She recently launched a medical skincare line of anti-aging, restorative product solutions. She is passionately involved with the Physician Led Access Network (PLAN) in Collier County providing breast reconstruction for uninsured and underinsured women, where she is afforded the opportunity to underscore her belief in ‘me’ time.
As an accomplished Plastic Surgeon, I’m sure that you are your own harshest critic. Where do you cut yourself some slack?

to be the best I could be as a mom, wife, and surgeon. In reality, taking that step back has actually grown my business and increased time with my family.
Has there ever been a time when you’ve thought something was too big for you to achieve?
When we moved to Naples, I had joined a practice with two other surgeons. It didn’t end up being a good fit, but it took me a year to believe that I could go out on my own. That was a time I had to really examine whether I could raise a family and start and grow my own business.
How would you advise mothers who may be struggling to see their beauty amidst the changes of childbirth, lifestyle habits and the aging process?
Having children is a gift. Pregnancy, however, can change a woman’s body in a way that can be unexpected. The first thing I tell my moms is that it takes at least a year to start feeling normal after childbirth and to set their expectations as such. Second is that sleep, nutrition and exercise is a must. Lastly, and of course in my field of work, I have lots of tools in my tool box to address the changes associated with being a mother and aging. Anything from skin care to surgery. I also tell my moms that doing something for yourself

is not a bad thing and that a little “me” time is important. I have realized that in my own life. Kiran is passionately involved with the Physician Led Access Network (PLAN) in Collier County providing breast reconstruction for uninsured and underinsured women, where she is afforded the opportunity to underscore her belief in ‘me’ time.
When does Dr. Gill switch off and become just Mom?
That is a hard question, because I don’t think I ever switch either of them off. Unlike other careers, my work doesn’t end as soon as I leave the office. My brain is always in the on position. Switching off is rare, but when I do, I’m ‘somewhere in Jamaica.’
What’s the best part of being a BossMom?
The feeling of independence, for sure! Having the freedom to spend with my three children is priceless. I’m a mother of three kids all under 10 years, so being able to be there for them, attend important dates with them and to simply be accessible when they need me… That’s the best part of being a BossMom. Dr. Gill is an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons. She lives in Naples with her husband and three (3) children.

eople often ask me how I balance my own multitude of roles? I guess, the simple answer is: I don’t …. At least not every day. We all end days craving more time and energy to be able to get it all done. So as a coach and a #bossmom myself, here are just a few practices I have found that make it a little easier to flourish. .
REMEMBER WHO YOU ARE! So often, while focusing on the ‘busy-ness’ of our everyday lives, we forget what brings us joy and fulfillment. Maybe you decided to leave a dream behind when you had your kids (awesome btw) and yet, at some point, we all stop and ask if we are living our best life. Our dreams and goals are usually tied to our valuesthose personal beliefs that link WHO we are to WHAT we do. Look at tomorrow’s schedule. What are your “values in action” i.e. those things that you will be doing that are in service of your values? ... are you making time to create your best life?

THESE 4 THINGS. I know I’m not the only one who is exhausted at the end of the day yet still has a task list that is only halfway complete. Recently, I decided to choose 4 tasks on my daily schedule that would make me feel like Wonder Woman if I got them done. My advice is to keep your “must” list to no more than 4 items. Now, that feeling of accomplishment is simply 4 things away.
TAKE CARE OF YOU !
.
There’s a long story here but the short version is that I lost over 100lbs through many things including lifestyle changes and sheer hard work. My biggest takeaway from this journey was how much more energy I had when I focused on what I was eating and when I was eating it. I also end each meal with a plan for what and when I will eat next so I don’t wait until I am ‘hangry’ and tired. I have also learnt to monitor my water in-take, most of my wellness clients complain of always being tired. Within three days of hydrating properly everyone reports a significantly higher level of energy and productivity throughout their day. Golden rule - half your bodyweight in ounces of water per day.
DANCE, LIKE NO ONE’S WATCHING (AND WHO CARES IF THEY ARE!) I know that not everyone is able to devote precious time and money to go to the gym every day. Not to mention, that not everyone really likes working out. (Really ?!). That’s ok though, you are not lazy. With each of my coaching clients we decide how they can ensure movement throughout the day that best serves them. Movement drives more oxygen and detoxification which gives more energy. One of the best successes I’ve had is three 10 minute walks each day usually after a meal and in the evening after work. One of those segments is usually just dancing around the room to some great music. You will be amazed at how much more energy (mental & physical) you will have and how much more you will get done.
RED FLAG / GREEN FLAG. Long before ‘Rona came to visit, I started my business working from home. My young daughter was so excited to have her mom at her beck and call. But, as excited as we both were, this was also distracting for my work. At the same time I was guilt ridden for disappointing her when she thought we could just play. So I created “Red Flag / Green Flag” time slots. Red Flag meant, unless there was blood or fire mummy needed at least two hours of uninterrupted time while she played quietly. Green Flag meant mummy was working but it was ok to come in and talk if she needed to. I also made sure I communicated what flag we were under and always ensured that we created other times when I was fully available to her.

TRUST THE PROCESS. Financial challenges, growing task lists, the sick child and even the unknown combine to make anxiety almost a foregone conclusion. with what is happening in your market,” she suggests. My advice to fellow moms and women in business? “Make God the foundation on which you will build your business. We are operating in a competitive marketplace where the only constant is change - and this saying applies to every situation. When things change, we need a foundation that won’t. With a commitment to staying the course, weathering the good days, the bad days and the days in between, it becomes easier to succeed.” “My daughter sees me every day and she knows that quitting is not an option - I tell her that every day, and I see her apply herself at school. So, the same way I learned from my mother, she is learning from me.” More advice from Peta Gay? Take your business to social media if you haven’t done so already. This works like magic once you are equipped with the know-how. If you don’t ‘know how’, find someone reputable to do it for you, even if you have to pay. The returns will be worth it.

haron Meredith-Small is owning her space in what would typically be known as a man’s place - the hardware store. “People assume that a woman in a man’s business would not understand the intricacies of the industry, but I exceed expectations.” Sharon recognizes the importance of knowing your craft, being innovative with ideas and being acutely decisive. She is also breaking gender biases. “Whether my customer is male or female, they often just want a solution to a problem. I know my work and I am confident in the advice I give,” Sharon explains. “What I do is push my customers beyond where they think they are. They ask for a bag of cement, and I sell them the steel to go with it. When you pre-empt the needs of your customer, you put yourself ahead of the game.” Sharon recently went through the separation from and passing of her husband, so when asked how to deal with challenges, she was all too familiar. With two daughters at tertiary level in school - one studying dentistry and her other daughter in nursing school - Sharon found herself balancing bereavement while trying to maintain business success. “It’s important for me to show my girls how to face and overcome challenges. Sometimes the struggles are great, but whatever comes, they are learning that there is always a solution. They are also learning that we don’t have to fit into preconceived boxes about what others think we should or should not be. They know I may not have the answer, but I always reiterate to them that they must have special consultation with God. “Financially, it can get overwhelming at times with school fees, suppliers to be paid… sometimes you need help.” However Sharon acknowledges that she gets a ‘different’ kind of support from her business banker who helps her to find real solutions. “I feel seen at Sagicor.” Sharon’s advice to women: Know what you want. It’s mindset plus capabilities plus faith that make the winning combination.

emilee McLymont is an attorney who also happens to co-own and operate a hotel. Two different ends of the business spectrum? Maybe, but this young mother is balancing her purpose with her passion. “I’m an entrepreneur at heart - I enjoy being in business, including the business of law. I love the dynamics of problem solving, which never gets boring. Law exposes me to a world of thinking and keeps me on my toes.” Kemilee prides herself on being a country girl with city swag who sees challenges as encouragement to do better, be better and to prove herself. Yes, women are still having to prove themselves, whether we’re a part of the legal fraternity or a business environment. “Listen, I’m from Mocho,” she laughs, “So I have an in-built system that makes me stronger when things get rough.” Ask anybody from Mocho, she went on to explain “we’re accustomed to being teased and laughed at, purely on the basis of the name of the town that we’re from.” So proving her worth is something she’s used to doing, and possibly the reason she does it so well. “I’m not easily daunted by circumstances.” Kemilee’s 5-year-old son Cayden, is at the age where his imagination on fire, and with a mother who thrives on being dynamic, she is enjoying pouring into him as he develops his character and personality. “Creating a strong foundation for Cayden puts all of the stressful

business moments into perspective. He is learning from me whether it’s through the stories we make up at bedtime each night, or when he sees me preparing for a case, or when I’m catering to a guest at our property, or even on a simple family day out.” Kemilee agrees that children are such an important part of the momtrepreneur journey - not just because they make you a mother, but more so because they are the reason that we develop the skills to succeed. Parenting, law and business have collectively taught me the grace of patience, and given me the strength to deal with all of the ups and downs.” Kemilee is partner at PeterMc & Associates, a multiple branch law firm where she works with a team of women - predominantly young, female and single mothers. All ‘juggling’ family life, and proving to themselves during the past year of Covid changes, that women remain the driving force in the workplace and the home, even amidst the new normal. “Ours is the firm that welcomed our BossMom team members to bring their children to work. So while we work on our contract, our children work their class assignments.” Kemilee’s advice to BossMoms? We have a lot of power. Do all you can when you have the energy and the opportunity. orraine Rainford was a stay-at-home mother for most of her parenting life. Her eldest son, now 21, is in University, her younger son is 15 years old, and her daughter is 17. All three know her as an at-home mummy. Always there whenever she was needed and always preparing something delicious and healthy to eat. She was in the process of completing her certification to become an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach when Lorraine’s husband died suddenly last year after completing a 5K run. Her world turned upside down. Dealing with the loss of her husband was hard - he was the breadwinner for the family and she the traditional homemaker. Sometimes, life deals a deck of cards that can shake you and your faith. But Lorraine learned about herself like never before. Just prior to her husbands’ passing, she was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis - a debilitating and painful condition that would limit her activity as she knew it. “When I discovered my illness, I was frustrated, because I could’t understand what the point of eating healthy was, if I still got sick.” Lorraine was certified as a Health Coach, but now battling illness. “It just didn’t make sense to me. I had been on a journey to eat well and make good choices,” she shares. Lorraine hung tight to her Christian beliefs which she says define her. “Everything about me stems from my Christianity.” Her studies in Integrative Nutrition Health opened her eyes to a world of lessons where she discovered that past choices were affecting her.

“Our state of well-being, our health and our wealth is more than just food. I also learned very quickly that things are not going to be bad forever.” This is the approach that saw this stay-at-home mom transform her life to BossMom. Her children are learning that building a business is a slow process that requires time, energy and a lot of sacrifice. “I’m no longer as available for them as I was in the past, and while it’s hard for them too, I am grateful that they are at the stage where they are more self-sufficient and aware of the nuances of life.” But she knows that no matter what, despite her personal challenges, her children still need her. So she has developed a routine that works for her family. “Sundays are our time. This is when we talk, dine together and simply spend time together.” Today, Lorraine consults with clients in her hometown of Westmoreland, in other parishes in the island and also internationally. She guides them firsthand on how to navigate their lives to a state of true wellness, by incorporating mind, body and soul healing. Lorraine’s advice to moms entering business: “I really believe that inside of us, we have the ability to overcome. We have been given the fortitude to fight and God has given us an intuition about things. If we trust that and connect to Him, that will help us to get where we want to go.” Sagicor is a full-service financial institution offering banking, investments, life & health insurance, pensions, and real estate services, with an outstanding history and reputation for leading innovation. HomeMaid in Jamaica Having spent over 11 years living the
corporate life at a leading multinational organization, Nastassia developed key business skills necessary for her success as an entrepreneur. Her experience in sales and marketing laid a solid foundation as she ventured out on her own. .

hortly after becoming a mother, she struggled to find a good nanny for young family. With the end of her maternity leave quickly approaching, her search for someone to care for her young baby, and her home, had become increasingly frustrating. For many women who find themselves on the cusp of re-entering the workforce after having a child, the non-negotiables become high priority. “It’s no longer just about finding someone to wash, cook and clean,” Nastassia shares, “it becomes a search for someone who will be an extension a representative of you in your absence.” That search can’t be taken lightly. Nastassia’s passion for service and a deep desire to help women, led to the formation of her company. Today, she is the Chief Executive Officer of HomeMaid Jamaica, a home-care company offering services in childcare, caregiving for the elderly and housekeeping. In Jamaica, where our ‘care economy’ is largely based on an informal system of ‘getting a work’, Nastassia’s company provides the guidance to promote transparency and accountability in the process of onboarded home care services, and offers service plans that are tailored to the needs and preferences of each client. HomeMaid team members undergo training and development that puts emphasis on customer service. “Our programme focuses on pride as a core value; pride in self and pride in work, which sees our team members delivering excellence as a standard. They each understand the importance of their role as a service provider, and not merely as a ‘helper’ as is commonly understood in Jamaica.” The most important parts of the process? Trust. “We trust our team and the client trusts us. Our mission is to improve the lives of families by helping them connect in a reliable and easy way to a housekeeper, caregiver or nanny.” Contact: Call/Whatsapp- 876-397-3818 • Email: support@homemaidjm.com • Website: www.homemaidjm. com • Facebook: @homemaidjm • IG: @homemaidjm

She’s based in California, but like so many businesses born out of this pandemic, she is accessible internationally. While juggling a busy household of children and pets (not to mention remote learning!), Leena has been able to virtually help women across the world with their branding and style needs. From coordinating a Zoom-ready outfit for a client meeting to curating a closet for a new career path, Leena uses her background in styling for popular chic retail chain Anthropologie and keen eye to help women put their best foot forward at any stage in their lives. “With clarity at the heart of everything I do, I use it to help women reach their highest potential,” said Leena. She cites the importance of learning the lessons that come along the way and incorporates this in the rebrand process. She laughs at the memory of her early days when what she thought was a ‘cute’ brand name, turned out to be one of her first lessons. “It turns out that Pow Wow Events wasn’t the route to go to be taken seriously in an industry that is defined by impressions first and delivery of excellence thereafter.” She laughs, but acknowledges that how you position your brand - including the name of your business, is inextricably linked to who your clients are, and your role in understanding and satisfying their needs.

A Success(ion) Story
With Peta-Gaye Samuda-Palmer By Nikeisha Boothe
Only one-third of family-owned businesses are said to actually survive through to the second generation. And, by the time the third generation (grandchildren) earns the head seat at the boardroom table, only about 10% are left standing. Bearing these statistics in mind, the Jencare Skin Farm story is most definitely one that massages together both survival and success.

encare Skin Farm was founded by the late Jennifer Samuda O.D. 36 years ago, in 1989, when the spa as it is known today, was a small home-based business found in the garage of her family home. Now, one of Jamaica’s longstanding beauty brands and most notable spas, it is second generation operated by Jennifer’s beloved daughter, Peta-Gaye Samuda-Palmer, CEO. PetaGaye grew up around the industry and was able to witness the way her mother guided the company from its humble beginnings to the largest stand-alone spa in the Caribbean. With such invaluable and practical experiences encircling her from an impressionable age, it is no wonder that she is now as multi-faceted as she is, beautifully executing roles as esthetician, chemist, skin care coach, self-care ritualist, wife and mother. While still attending university, PetaGaye joined the company and played a supporting role as an esthetician, and operations manager. After completing her Master’s degree in Chemistry she worked closely with her mother to launch her own product line - NextJen, a fresh and modern interpretation of skincare that immediately appealed to a younger generation. The success of that line led to further opportunities to develop new products targeting many of the skin challenges faced by the black community. Today, while undertaking product enhancement and new product development, Peta-Gaye is committed to growing the company across multiple territories. With locations in Trinidad, Kingston and South Florida, Peta-Gaye is grateful to her mother for establishing such a solid foundation, and has no interest in resting on the laurels of the company’s reputation. Her mother clearly had a vision for the company that saw her daughter taking the helm as CEO some 7 years before she passed. Hard work and dedication were the hallmarks of the mother who built the brand and remain woven into the fabric of the daughter who now runs the empire.

How should moms-in-business start the process of leaving a legacy?
I’ve learned a lot from my mother’s approach to legacy building. She lived a full life, authentic in every way. She loved deeply and gave her all to everything she did. She was honest with me and shared the stories of struggle and success. The framework of any business that is to have continuity must be strong. Systems and procedures that allow the business to operate independently of one person is crucial. And then passing on the ‘why’ of the business
means that its passion is not easily lost. My mother made sure that I understood without a doubt what this business is and what it means for our family. I endeavour to do the same with my children. I think the vision at the beginning of any business is to create something meaningful and impactful to our society. That was my mother’s goal, and that is also my vision in sustaining and leaving a legacy.
You are known to have your children Josiah and Jennifer Skye ‘making the rounds’ at work with you. They are 4 and 1. Is this your way of incorporating them?
Jencare is and will always be a family business. So it’s very natural to incorporate them in everything we do. I remember the days my mother would introduce me to all her clients and attempt to show me their skin, explaining in detail what was going on and her course of treatment. This
was followed by me working at the front desk to interact with clients directly. In hindsight, she created some deep-rooted bonds that mean everything to me today. My children are years away from working with me in the spa but it is very important that they see me pursuing my passion.
The introduction of your line NextJen is an important lesson in business branding - regardless of business size.
NextJen was the extension of our brand of core products and the injection of new life into some tried
and true methods. Branding is extremely important and it’s the sizzle that sells the steak. It’s your story
| BOSS MOM MAGAZINE | 117
and that story matters. This is what sets you apart from anyone else. The consumer gets to learn intimately about the company and what it stands for. NextJen gave me the opportunity to join forces with my mother in developing solutions to combat skin issues that I identified in my peers.
How do you remain relevant, especially in an industry that is so competitive?
By not focusing on being relevant. Our goal is to always provide the best in products and services within our industry. We have the luxury of being in the business for over thirty-five years, so we’ve reached a certain level of product research and development and we are still committed to learning. There is always new technology, ingredients, and strategies that we remain open in adopting and applying to our already highly results-driven brand. Today, Peta-Gaye encourages change through pivotal human and technological investments, believing that great people and processes lead to a great product. At her core she is an esthetician with a love for everything skin. Her hands-on approach (pun intended) sees her spending most days in Jencare’s facial room taking appointments and seeing clients. This interactive and personal treatment is pampering of the highest kind; a formula that is bound to see them defying the odds of succession for many generations to come. .

MOGUL MOVES .
Her background in psychology and ongoing interest in human behaviour have always contributed to her
fascination of how our past experiences and our future are connected. It’s a concept that, upon reflection, is beautifully illustrated in the way that her life has unfolded. Geographical relocations during childhood, though challenging, were pivotal points in her formative years. The realities of each move dictated that she quickly embrace cultural shifts, navigate communication barriers (English is her fourth language!), nurture the concept of starting over all while adopting an openness to new people, places and things. Little did she know that these experiences would be the perfect prepping tools for professional agility later in life. (Perhaps this would explain why this creative entrepreneur has never thought that there was anything too big for her to achieve). Growing up global also had an intimate hand in her personal domain, broadening ideas on love, and culminating in the exchange of I Do’s with a life partner who hailed from vastly different roots and culture.

O
rly Agai Marley recently celebrated her ‘sweet sixteen’ wedding anniversary to eight-time GRAMMY-winning reggae icon husband, David ‘Ziggy’ Marley, both of whom reside with their four children in Los Angeles, California – over 7,500 miles from Orly’s homeland of Israel where she was born to Iranian expatriates. At the age of three, her father was assigned to a position in Iran and the family left the Jewish state. When Orly reached the age of 14, the family escaped Iran post-revolution after experiencing much loss and tragedy, and moved once again, half-way across the world to Los Angeles. By this time, she had already attended six (6) different elementary schools in three (3) different continents, now starting over a new chapter in the 8th grade of the U.S. based school system. As a young teenager who had to mature much faster than many others she knew, Orly was very determined to win, not only in an effort to take care of herself, but to also take care of her parents and siblings. Being the first-born and the first grandchild on both sides of her family, one can imagine the added sense of responsibility she would have placed on her shoulders to be able to provide both financially and morally. Wanting to earn her way, she sparked her enterprising spirit by babysitting for friends in the community. She would later don tassels and gown from California State University, Long Beach and start her professional career as a junior assistant in the giant music department of leading Hollywood-based talent and literacy agency, William Morris Endeavor (WME), under Senior Vice President John Marx. Though she had moved many times up until this point, travelled far and had to leave many things behind, what always remained permanently in tow was her strong will and work ethic which did not go unnoticed. Promoted after a mere three months in, she noticed an unserved opportunity at the veteran company. “William Morris had the largest and most successful commercial department in the industry, but no one dealt with endorsements and sponsorships for musicians,” she notes. Her initiative led to the creation of a new position within the company. As Director of Talent Sponsorships, Orly closed a number of worldwide endorsement and sponsorship deals for A-list music acts and actors, including Enrique Iglesias, Black Eyed Peas, Salma Hayek, Ray Charles, Queen Latifah, Willie Nelson, Juanes, Luis Miguel, Aretha Franklin - and these are but a few. Rubbing shoulders with these larger-than-life show business personas that often leave persons awestruck can easily give one a courtly air, but it was refreshingly interesting to discover how grounded Orly has remained – a trait that she has attributed to her childhood experiences as well as her family’s strong work ethic, perseverance and values. In 2004 and 2006, she conceptualized and produced the “Bob Marley: Roots Rock Reggae” tour across the U.S. alongside the Marley Family.

“Make eye contact. Firmly shake hands. And carry yourself with confidence.” A
fter 13 years at WME, Orly took over the management of her husband and together they built the Tuff Gong Worldwide record label, and music publishing company, Ishti Music, accomplishing their vision to make Ziggy a fully independent artist. In 2012, she was instrumental in the marketing, PR and promotional campaign for the critically praised Bob Marley documentary film MARLEY (Shangri-La Entertainment / Magnolia Pictures), which Ziggy executive produced. She also created the recurring Legends of Reggae Festival – headlined by Ziggy with featured special guests The I-Threes, Toots & The Maytals, Maxi Priest, Freddie McGregor and Bob Andy – and later developed the concept into a year’s long SiriusXM radio program. When not overseeing promotion of her husband’s acclaimed worldwide tours and executive producing his multiple GRAMMYwinning albums, the now-mother-of-four has found passion in developing entertainment for families to enjoy together. Beginning in 2009 with the critically-acclaimed I Love You Too children’s book, she went on to associate produce The Disney Reggae Club album – featuring recordings by Ziggy Marley, Matisyahu, Steel Pulse, UB40 and others – in 2010, the Ziggy Marley & Family Cookbook in 2016, and is currently in production on three more children’s books, one of which she co-wrote. Getting back to her celebrity endorsement roots, she has also just developed a new collaboration with children’s apparel brand Appaman coming out this Spring. With her family, her husband and her children being her main motivations in life, it is no wonder that most of her projects have actually been born out of service to them and given her such a drive to succeed. Success is clearly not a foreign concept to Orly and the logical question that some of us are asking at this point is, how does she manage to throw all of those in the air and juggle them so adeptly? There is a chance that many moms in business who are reading this (regardless of our field) know with certainty how influential we are in the lives of our children but grapple with, at one time or another, also wanting to create an impact and be of significance to the world at large. To this Orly says that she has found through all her experiences, that the best way to make a significant impact is by giving of yourself and your time to others. And while giving can be financial, it can also be the priceless things that money can’t buy – like your time, active listening, putting yourself in their shoes and seeing the world from their point of view. But, ultimately, it really
THINK BIG 2021
is about connecting with people authentically. No stranger to the concept, giving has been a way of life for Orly who extends herself with her whole heart and often has her children participate in the experiences – a continuation of one of the best teaching moments of the human spirit that she has acquired and owes all to her grandfather. As a teenage girl, her grandfather – a U.S. immigrant from the Middle East – used to have Orly write checks for him to give to various charities or to give money to the needy when they were ‘out and about’. “Interacting with people in that way instilled a sense of appreciation for what I have, an awareness of what others may not, and an understanding of how connected we all are as humans regardless of our station in life.” She knows what it is to struggle and notes that we all face our own tussles, at different ages, at different stages, of different kinds. But for some, like Orly, a first-generation Sabra (a Jew born in Israel), who (literally) moved through many of her own battles to mogul status, her BossMom advice bears tremendous weight. She encourages other moms in business not to be intimidated by a big pitch but offers that “Fear can be used to your advantage. Work hard and put together the best pitch. Run it by trustworthy people in your life. Practice making your presentation and practice over and over again. Most of all, have faith in yourself and your capacity. Smile even when you are perspiring. Make eye contact. Firmly shake hands. And carry yourself with confidence.” As for the mom-in-business juggling act between being mom and boss, Orly’s advice is to stay organized and remain positive in outlook and you will already be winning. “Keep your face always toward the sunshine, and shadows will fall behind you.” - Walt Whitman. In her spare time, Orly finds joy in managing a growing real estate portfolio, and together with her husband, heads up Unlimited Resources Giving Enlightenment (U.R.G.E.), a U.S. 501(c) (3) organization that seeks to make enduring contributions to the lives of children in Jamaica and around the world by supporting their educational, health and environmental needs. She also served two terms on the Board of Governors for the LA Chapter of The Recording Academy, and remains an active influence within the organization to this day. .

hildren are to be seen and not heard. We are hushed and quieted throughout our lives. If it isn’t by our parents, by our teachers then sometimes even in our relationships. We are told, “It’s better if you keep it to yourself.” or “What would people say?” All this causes trauma within us. It stops us from moving freely. It’s something so common that we don’t get to process the experience and in turn it becomes trapped inside of us. Not having the awareness or potentially bypassing something that has happened. Sometimes we’ve shared something personal with someone and afterwards you feel unsafe. You have this feeling that makes you wonder, should I have shared that much? I don’t feel safe, I’m going to be judged or is it going to be used against me? Discernment is important of course, but it’s important to show up and trust yourself. This is how we expand our capacity to be seen. This act alone can catapult your career. This is a very special time where we all have had to make a dramatic shift in our life. What if we grasp this moment and turn it around for ourselves as #BossMoms. Sharing our story demonstrates that it is safe and in turn empowering our children at the same time. It’s beautiful to live and lead from the heart. A form of healing and this awareness is a gamechanger. You are able to change massively and permanently. Everyone experiences trauma. There is so much shame around our truth. Telling your story is a powerful way to create change, start conversations and connect with the people that need to hear your message in the way that only you can express it. Not only will you set a powerful example for your children, you will stand in your own power. Every story shared is an opportunity to empower our children and set an example. When you share your story you demonstrate your authority on your topic. You’ve been there and you can help others with the similar challenges and that is what drove you to serve. Writing about what’s important to you, is a powerful way to create change, start conversations and connect with the people that need to hear your message in the way that only you can express it. In this case, it’s better NOT to keep it to yourself. .
