Balkan Trafik! NL De achtste editie van Balkan Trafik! wordt weer een bruisend feest met muziek, dans en veel sfeer uit Zuidoost-Europa. Je kan genieten van rappers en een zigeunerkoningin uit Macedonië, polyfone gezangen uit Albanië en Bulgarije, Roemeense brassbands als Mahala Rai Banda, het Kristijan Azirović Orkestar winnaar van het Guča-festival, de Griekse etnopop van Imam Baildi of jazz. Met de straatprotesten in Turkije, de Griekse crisis, de gespannen situatie in Oekraïne en de commotie over de Roma in het nieuws wordt dit ook een erg geëngageerde editie. Ook de Turkse mythische protestzangeres Selda Bağcan komt langs, het alternatieve Kolektif Istanbul, een debat over de positieve bijdrage van de Roma-cultuur of de Oekraïense undergroundmuziek van DakhaBrakha staan op het programma. In onze typische bars Istanbul Meyhane en het Rembetiko Kafé kan je gezellig nagenieten. We wensen je een fijn festival!

La 8e édition de Balkan Trafik! est à nouveau une fête célébrant la musique, la danse et l’ambiance venues de l’Europe du Sud-Est. Vous y retrouverez des rappeurs et une reine tzigane de Macédoine, les chants polyphoniques d’Albanie et de Bulgarie, les fanfares roumaines dont le Mahala Rai Banda, le Kristijan Azirović Orkestar lauréat du festival de Guča, l’ethnopop grec d’Imam Baildi ou encore du jazz. Avec les mouvements de protestation en Turquie, la crise grecque, la situation difficile de l’Ukraine ou les tensions autour des Roms, cette édition ne pouvait être qu’engagée. La chanteuse turque mythique Selda Bağcan est présente, le Kolektif Istanbul et sa musique alternative, un débat sur l’apport positif de la culture Rom ou la musique underground ukrainienne de DakhaBrakha sont au programme ! Vous pourrez agréablement prolonger vos moments de plaisir dans notre bar Istanbul Meyhane et au Rembetiko Kafé. Nous vous souhaitons un joyeux festival. FR

EN The eighth edition of Balkan Trafik! promises another dazzling feast of music, dance, and lots of atmosphere from south-eastern Europe. You can enjoy rappers and a Gypsy queen from Macedonia, polyphonic singing from Albania and Bulgaria, Romanian brass bands such as Mahala Rai Banda, the Kristijan Azirović Orkestar winner of the Guča festival, Greek ethno-pop from Imam Baildi, and jazz. Against the background of street protests in Turkey, the Greek crisis, the tense situation in Ukraine, and media clamour about the Roma, this will also be a decidedly topical edition. Among the performers will be the legendary Turkish protest singer Selda Bağcan and the alternative Kolektif Istanbul; there will be a debate on the positive contribution of Roma culture; and the festival will also feature the Ukrainian underground music of DakhaBrakha. And after or between shows you can unwind in convivial company in our typical bars, Istanbul Meyhane and the Rembetiko Kafé. We wish you a really enjoyable festival!

NL Dominique Nasta is professor filmstudies aan de Université libre de Bruxelles. Ze publiceerde de boeken, Meaning in Film (1991) en New Perspectives in Sound Studies (2004) , en talrijke essays en wetenschappelijke teksten over Roemeense films en regisseurs. FR Dominique Nasta est professeure d’études cinématographiques à l’Université libre de Bruxelles. Elle a publié les livres, Meaning in Film (1991) et Le son en perspective : nouvelles recherches (2004), ainsi que de nombreux essais et textes scientifiques sur les films et réalisateurs roumains. EN Dominique Nasta is Professor of Film Studies at the Université Libre de Bruxelles. FR Le rêve de Liviu raconte l’histoire d’un jeune homme né par erreur. Plus précisément, né à cause d’un décret qui interdisait l’avortement sous le régime communiste. Corneliu Porumboiu (1975) is een Roemeense regisseur en scenarist die in 2004 internationale aandacht trok met zijn kortfilms A Trip to the City en Liviu’s Dream. Zijn langspeelfilm 12:08 East of Bucharest won de Camera d’Or in Cannes in 2006 en werd gevolgd in 2009 door Police, Adjective die de juryprijs van Un Certain Regard in de wacht sleepte. Gratis op vertoon van ticket voor één van de films of de masterclass. FR Corneliu Porumboiu (1975) est un réalisateur et scénariste roumain qui a attiré l’attention internationale en 2004 sur ses courts métrages Un voyage à la ville et Le rêve de Liviu. Son long métrage 12h08 à l’est de Bucarest a remporté la Caméra d’Or au Festival de Cannes en 2006. Il sera suivi par Policier, Adjectif qui lui a valu en 2009 le Prix du Jury dans la section « Un Certain Regard » à Cannes.
