Révolte

e plan de métro (p. 30) présenté dans cette brochure le dévoile dans toutes les lignes : chaque saison d’exposition regroupe des trajectoires étudiées. Les lignes se tracent de saison en saison : des œuvres qui appartiennent au patrimoine européen, des artistes contemporains qui jettent des ponts entre le passé et l’avenir, des échanges entre les cultures, des expositions où différentes disciplines artistiques sont représentées, complétées par des arts imbriqués dans l’industrie : l’architecture, le design et (à partir de 2015) la mode. Vous pouvez monter à différentes stations, mais nous espérons que, comme dans un city trip, vous prendrez beaucoup de correspondances. Ce programme offre bien des occasions d’établir de telles connexions. Nos expositions mettent l’accent sur la cohérence : dans une œuvre, entre le passé et le présent, entre ici et làbas, entre l’art et vous. Les œuvres d’art sont ancrées dans leur temps. Rubens et Zurbarán représentent comme personne la contre-réforme. Mais les images fortes de Zurbarán l’ascète ou de Rubens le baroque parlent encore aux générations suivantes. Rubens and His Legacy réunit les grandes œuvres des artistes qui se sont mesurés à Rubens au fil des siècles : de Van Dyck et Rembrandt à Picasso, en passant par Watteau et Cézanne. Michael Borremans nous a conseillés et aidés pour l’exposition musicale articulée autour d’Antoine Watteau. Aujourd’hui, il donne le coup d’envoi d’une exposition présentant les 14 dernières années de sa production. Elle voyagera ensuite à Tel Aviv et Dallas. De nombreuses peintures de Borremans font partie de collections américaines : vous ne les reverrez pas de sitôt sur le vieux continent. Entre le A d’Antonioni et le Z de Zurbarán, Europalia mettra les points sur les « I » des BRIC. Avec l’émergence de l’Inde et d’autres pays en pleine industrialisation, le monde ne change pas seulement sur le plan économique : les échanges culturels rapprochent les continents. L’art ne reste pas en marge. Lors de la Présidence grecque au Conseil de l’Union européenne, nous avons invité des artistes qui reflètent la crise financière dans leur travail. Nous sommes dans le berceau de la culture européenne. « Avec le pathos qui leur est propre, ils [les Européens] rêvent des arts – pour autant que l’art, garant de l’ouverture des créations, soit l’antidote par excellence de toutes les tentations engendrées par la misère », écrit le philosophe Peter Sloterdijk. « C’est à juste titre que l’on dit de l’Europe qu’elle est la mère des révolutions. Mais une définition plus sagace serait de qualifier l’Europe de foyer de révolte contre la misère humaine ». L’art en révolte contre la misère ? De lijnen tekenen zich af over de seizoenen heen: oeuvres die tot het Europees erfgoed behoren, hedendaagse kunstenaars die de brug slaan tussen verleden en toekomst, uitwisselingen tussen culturen, tentoonstellingen waar diverse kunstdisciplines samenkomen, aangevuld met de industrieel ingebedde kunsten architectuur, design en (nieuw in 2015) mode. U kunt op verschillende haltes opstappen, maar we hopen dat u ook geregeld een overstap maakt. Het voorliggende programma biedt voor zulke connecties heel wat gelegenheden. Onze tentoonstellingen brengen samenhang aan het licht: in een oeuvre, tussen toen en nu, tussen hier en ginder, tussen de getoonde kunst en u. Kunstwerken zijn ingebed in hun tijd. Rubens en Zurbarán verbeelden als geen 4

ander de contrareformatie. Maar de krachtige beelden van de ascetische Zurbarán of de barokke Rubens blijven spreken tot volgende generaties. Rubens and His Legacy brengt topwerken bij elkaar van kunstenaars die zich door de eeuwen heen met Rubens meten: van Van Dyck en Rembrandt over Watteau en Cézanne tot Picasso. Voor de muzikale tentoonstelling rond Antoine Watteau stond Michaël Borremans ons met raad en daad bij. Nu geeft hij de aftrap van een overzicht van de jongste 14 jaar dat na afloop doorreist naar Tel Aviv en Dallas. Heel wat schilderijen van Borremans zitten in Amerikaanse collecties. U krijgt ze op het oude continent niet vlug nog een keer te zien. Tussen de A van Antonioni en de Z van Zurbarán zet Europalia het puntje op de 'I' van BRIC. De wereld verandert met India en de andere opkomende industrielanden niet alleen economisch van gedaante. Culturele uitwisselingen brengen werelddelen dichter bij elkaar. Kunst blijft niet aan de zijlijn staan. Tijdens het Griekse Voorzitterschap van de Europese Raad nodigen we kunstenaars uit die in hun werk reflecteren op de financiële crisis. Meteen bevinden we ons in de bakermat van de Europese cultuur. “Met een pathos dat alleen hun eigen is, dromen zij (de Europeanen) van de kunsten – voor zover de kunst, als borg voor de openheid van de scheppingen, het tegengif bij uitstek is tegen alle verzoekingen als gevolg van misère”, schrijft de filosoof Peter Sloterdijk. “Terecht heeft men Europa de moeder van de revoluties genoemd. Een diepzinniger definitie zou Europa bestempelen als haard van de revolte tegen de menselijke ellende”. Kunst als opstand tegen misère? Revolt

he “metro map” (p. 30) in this brochure makes the point with its colourful lines: every exhibition season is a cluster of carefully designed routes. Those lines are visible throughout the seasons: works that belong to the European heritage, contemporary artists building the bridge between the past and the future, exchanges between cultures, exhibitions in which different artistic disciplines are brought together, complemented by the industriallyembedded arts of architecture, design, and (new in 2015) fashion. You can get off and on at different stops, but we hope that you will also – as you would on a city trip – switch lines regularly. This programme offers a whole range of opportunities for connections of that kind. Our exhibitions reveal connections: within a body of work, between then and now, between here and there, between the art on show and you. Works of art are rooted in their time. More than anyone else, Rubens and Zurbarán exemplify the Counter-Reformation. But the powerful images of the ascetic Zurbarán and the baroque Rubens continue to speak to later generations. Rubens and His Legacy presents key works by artists who, down the centuries, sought to measure up to Rubens: from Van Dyck and Rembrandt to Watteau to Cézanne to Picasso. For the musical exhibition in relation to Antoine Watteau, we were able to rely on the expert advice of Michaël Borremans, who will now be the subject of a survey exhibition that, after Brussels, will travel to Tel Aviv and Dallas. Many paintings by Borremans are to be found in collections in the US, so you might have to wait quite some time for another opportunity to see them here in Europe. In between A for Antonioni and Z for Zurbarán, Europalia will dot the “I” in BRIC. The world is changing with the rise of India and the other emerging industrial countries, and not just economically. Cultural exchanges bring continents closer together. Art doesn’t just stay on the sidelines. During the Greek presidency of the European Council, we host artists whose work addresses the financial crisis as we turn to the cradle of European culture. “With a pathos that is distinctive to them, they (the Europeans) dream of the arts – in so far as art, as guarantor of the openness of creative work, is the antidote par excellence to all the temptations that arise from misfortune,” writes the philosopher Peter Sloterdijk. “Europe is rightly known as the mother of revolutions. A more penetrating definition would describe Europe as a source of the revolt against human misery.” Art as a revolt against misery? In november is het de beurt aan de Belgische architect Xaveer De Geyter, die in Brussel onder andere bekend is voor de aanleg van het Rogierplein.

EN BOZAR ARCHITECTURE and A+ organise talks by key figures in contemporary architecture. In September, to coincide with his exhibition, b0b Van Reeth presents two projects: the Holocaust museum (in Mechelen) and the extension to the Trappist monastery in Westvleteren. In November it will be the turn of the Belgian architect Xaveer De Geyter, known in Brussels for his work on Place Rogierplein, among other projects.

Some Extraordinary Plates Will as seen by Ever Meulen FR Ever Meulen, l’illustrateur mondialement célèbre, porte un regard plein d’admiration sur l’œuvre de Will, le père de la bande dessinée Tif et Tondu. Une trentaine de reproductions témoignent de la passion de Will pour le design et l’architecture. Découvrez grâce à cette expo ce qui fait sa patte de génie : la puissance des lignes, le sens de la composition dans le cadre strict d’une vignette et toute la dynamique propre à la bande dessinée.

NL De internationaal gerenommeerde illustrator Ever Meulen kijkt vol bewondering naar het werk van Will, de bedenker van de strip Baard en Kale. Uit een dertigtal reproducties spreekt Wills passie voor design en architectuur. Ontdek in deze tentoonstelling waar Will in uitblonk: de kracht van de lijnen, het gevoel voor compositie in het strikte kader van een stripvakje en de dynamiek die een strip eigen is.

The internationally renowned illustrator Ever Meulen is a great admirer of the work of Will, the man behind the Tif et Tondu comic strip. Some thirty reproductions make clear Will's passion for design and architecture. This exhibition shows where Will excelled: in the strength of his lines and in his feeling for composition within the strict confines of comic-strip boxes and for the particular dynamics of the comic strip genre.

europalia.india The Body in Indian Art FR Héroïques, ascétiques, dangereux et séducteurs – les corps présentés dans cette exposition témoignent de la richesse de la pensée et de l’esthétique indiennes. Comment une civilisation exprimet-elle la mort, le destin ou le ravissement ? La place de l’homme dans le cosmos est-elle régie par la destinée, ou le corps a-t-il ses propres voies ? En quoi les valeurs masculines et féminines se distinguent-elles ? Corps de l’Inde offre une chance rare de contempler des chefs-d’œuvre n’ayant jamais quitté l’Inde auparavant. Huit galeries y juxtaposent les idées et l’art indien classiques aux préoccupations se manifestant dans l’art contemporain. Sculptures classiques, peintures, textiles, terres cuites, ivoires et bijoux en or dénichés dans de petits musées archéologiques de province, issus de collections royales ou de celles du National Museum of India font de cette exposition une introduction unique à la culture indienne.

Heroic, ascetic, dangerous and seductive – the bodies in this exhibition show the richness of India’s thought and aesthetics. How does a civilisation express death, destiny or rapture? Is man’s place in the cosmos fated by destiny, or does a body have its own agency? And how are men’s values constructed differently from women’s? A rare chance to see masterpieces that have never left India before: its classical sculptures, paintings, textiles, terracottas, ivories and gold jewellery. Sourced from tiny provincial archaeological museums, royal collections and the National Museum of India, this enormous exhibition is not one to be missed. FR Splendeur des moghols et maharadjas, spiritualité, lumière et couleurs mais aussi pauvreté ou système des castes… Autant d’aspects de l’Inde qui ont frappé de tout temps les voyageurs partis à sa découverte. Mais comment les artistes envisagent-ils l’Inde ? Et comment évolue leur regard au fil du temps ? Indomania nous contera la passion commune de nombreux artistes pour l’Inde. Peintres, sculpteurs, photographes, auteurs, cinéastes et musiciens avec une admiration esthétique et une curiosité intellectuelle pour ce pays depuis Vasco de Gama à aujourd’hui. Pour la première fois, les œuvres de ces artistes seront réunies : de Rembrandt à Brancusi, en passant par Cartier-Bresson et Pasolini. Pour finir, deux artistes contemporains, Max Pinckers et Hans Op de Beeck, se sont rendus en Inde à la demande d’Europalia, afin de s’imprégner du pays et de créer des œuvres qui seront exposées dans le parcours.

Réalisée en 1994 et exposée pour la toute première fois, Large Mountain d’Anish Kapoor (°1954) est une sculpture qui surprend par sa taille, sa forme et le mystère qui l’entoure. En utilisant du bois composite par couches successives, l’artiste parvient à représenter magnifiquement les strates et à évoquer des âges immémoriaux.

NL Large Mountain werd in 1994 verwezenlijkt door Anish Kapoor (°1954) en wordt nu voor de allereerste keer tentoongesteld. De indrukwekkende sculptuur verrast door haar omvang, unieke vorm en mysterieuze aura. Door gebruik te maken van houtcomposiet in verschillende lagen, slaagt Anish Kapoor erin strata en tijdperken te evoceren.

EN Created in 1994 and exhibited for the very first time, Large Mountain by Anish Kapoor (°1954) is a sculpture that impresses through its size, unique shape and the mystery that surrounds it. Through the use of several layers of composite wood, the artist manages to evoke strata and time immemorial.

Jonas Mekas / The Fluxus Wall FR L’artiste lituano-américain Jonas Mekas est une figure-clé du cinéma d’avant-garde d’aprèsguerre. Dans l’exposition, vous découvrirez via des films, photos, poèmes, installations et un journal intime en format vidéo, un aperçu de son travail, réalisé depuis 1950 jusqu’à nos jours. L’installation The Fluxus Wall rend hommage à l’artiste lituano-américain George Maciunas, co-fondateur de l’influent mouvement Fluxus et compagnon de route de Mekas.

De Litouws-Amerikaanse kunstenaar Jonas Mekas is een sleutelfiguur van de naoorlogse avantgardefilm. In de tentoonstelling krijg je via films, foto’s, gedichten, installaties en een dagboek in videoformaat een overzicht van zijn scheppende arbeid, van de jaren 1950 tot vandaag. The Fluxus Wall toont objecten van de invloedrijke Fluxus-beweging rond de Litouwse kunstenaar George Maciunas, een geestverwant van Mekas.

EN The Lithuanian-American artist Jonas Mekas is a key figure of post-war avant-garde cinema. The exhibition provides an overview of his creative endeavours from the 1950s to today via films, photos, poems, installations, and a video diary. The Fluxus Wall is made up of objects from the influential Fluxus movement, which revolved around the Lithuanian artist, George Macunias, a kindred spirit of Mekas.

Cristina Iglesias FR Dans son œuvre, la sculptrice espagnole Cristina Iglesias, connue pour la Fontaine profonde sur la place face au Musée Royal des Beaux-Arts Anvers, étudie la sculpture comme un objet mis en relation avec l’espace et l’environnement. Ses sculptures en béton, en fer, en albâtre, en vitrail et en textile ouvrent la porte à la réflexion et invitent le spectateur à s’interroger sur son rapport évident à la nature.

NL De Spaanse kunstenaar Cristina Iglesias, bekend van de Diepe fontein op het plein van het Antwerpse Koninklijk Museum voor Schone Kunsten, onderzoekt in haar werk het beeldhouwwerk als object in verhouding tot ruimte en omgeving. Met haar sculpturen in beton, ijzer, albast, glas-in-lood en textiel biedt ze ruimte voor reflectie en nodigt ze de toeschouwer uit om vragen te stellen bij zijn vanzelfsprekende omgang met de natuur.

In her work, the Spanish artist Cristina Iglesias, known for her Deep fountain on the square at the Royal Museum of Fine Arts in Antwerp, explores the sculpture as an object in relation to space and to its surroundings. Her sculptures in concrete, iron, alabaster, stained glass, and textiles offer scope for reflection and invite viewers to question their taken-for-granted relationship with nature.

Zurbarán FR Francisco de Zurbarán est l’un des grands peintres baroques espagnols, à l’instar de Velázquez et de Murillo. Pour la première fois en Belgique, il vous sera possible de voir un aperçu de sa production artistique. Son œuvre (essentiellement des sujets religieux) se caractérise par un naturalisme pur, empreint d’une sensibilité poétique moderne. Le « peintre de la contre-réforme » traduit dans ses toiles la nouvelle mentalité apparue après le Concile de Trente (15451563), qui a fait souffler sur l’Espagne des XVIe et XVIIe siècles un vent de nouveauté, non seulement dans le domaine des beauxarts mais aussi dans le théâtre, la littérature et la musique. Vous pourrez vous en rendre compte grâce à une série de concerts et d’activités organisés en marge de cette rétrospective.

NL Francisco de Zurbarán behoort net als Velázquez en Murillo tot de belangrijkste Spaanse barokschilders. Voor het eerst in België is een overzicht van zijn artistieke productie te zien. Zijn oeuvre (met voornamelijk religieuze onderwerpen) valt op door een zuiver naturalisme vermengd met een moderne poëtische sensibiliteit. De ‘schilder van de contrareformatie’ gaf met zijn doeken uitdrukking aan de nieuwe mentaliteit na het Concilie van Trente (1545-1563), dat in het Spanje van de zestiende en zeventiende eeuw niet alleen voor een culturele opleving in de beeldende kunsten zorgde, maar ook in theater, literatuur en muziek. Dat laatste kun je ervaren in een reeks concerten en andere activiteiten die parallel met de retrospectieve plaatsvinden.

EN Francisco de Zurbarán was one of the most important painters of the Spanish Baroque, alongside Velázquez and Murillo. For the first time, an overview of his artistic work is being presented in Belgium. His oeuvre (whose subject matter is primarily religious) is striking for its combination of pure naturalism and a modern poetic sensitivity. As a “painter of the Counter-Reformation”, he created works that expressed the new attitudes that became dominant after the Council of Trent (1545–1563) and led to a cultural revival in Spain in the course of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, not only in the visual arts but also in theatre, literature, and music. You can discover those parallel developments in a series of concerts and other events that will take place in connection with the Zurbarán retrospective.

Michaël Borremans FR Michaël Borremans a acquis à la fin des années 1990 une renommée internationale grâce à une production variée (dessins, peintures, films) dans laquelle il met en avant, de manière ironique et suggestive, la nature illusoire de nos représentations et l’absurdité de l’existence. Il n’hésite pas à réinterpréter des tableaux historiques de Velázquez, Goya et Manet et fait aussi souvent référence à la littérature, à la photographie et au cinéma. Son intérêt pour la puissance de l’imaginaire rend particulièrement attrayant son langage pictural subversif. Autant de bonnes raisons de découvrir cet artiste fascinant à travers une centaine de ses œuvres des 14 dernières années. Cette exposition proposant un aperçu de sa création quittera ensuite le Palais pour le Tel Aviv Museum of Art et le Dallas Museum of Art.

NL Michaël Borremans brak eind jaren 1990 internationaal door met een gevarieerd oeuvre (tekeningen, schilderijen, films) waarin de bedrieglijkheid van de voorstelling en de absurditeit van het bestaan op een suggestieve, ironische manier worden blootgelegd. Meteen een goede reden om kennis te maken met deze fascinerende kunstenaar, via een overzichtstentoonstelling met een 100-tal werken uit de voorbije 14 jaar. De expo reist vervolgens naar het Tel Aviv Museum of Art en het Dallas Museum of Art.

EN Michaël Borremans made his international breakthrough in the late 1990s with a varied body of work (including drawings, paintings, and films) that laid bare the deceptive nature of representation and the absurdity of existence in a suggestive, ironic way. Borremans has been known to make personal references to historic paintings by, among others, Velázquez, Goya, and Manet and also frequently alludes to literature, photography, and film. His focus on the power of the imagination makes his subversive visual idiom especially engaging. This exhibition, containing a hundred works from the last 14 years, allows you to get to know a fascinating artist and offers an overview of his work. It will move later to the Tel Aviv Museum of Art and the Dallas Museum of Art.

Monography Series Nikon-BOZAR #2 Depuis 4 ans, BOZAR et NIKON organisent des expositions de photos au Palais des Beaux-Arts. Ensemble ils contribuent à soutenir la qualité du travail de photographes en leur offrant un tremplin vers une plus grande notoriété. C’est dans cet esprit que le Monography Series Award couronne l’œuvre d’un photographe belge à travers une exposition présentant les clichés les plus représentatifs de sa démarche.

NL BOZAR en NIKON organiseren voor het vierde jaar op rij een tentoonstelling in het Paleis voor Schone Kunsten: ze slaan de handen in elkaar om fotografen een springplank te bieden naar grotere bekendheid. De Monography Series Award bekroont het werk van een Belgisch kunstenaar en laat op de tentoonstelling zijn of haar meest representatieve werken aan bod komen.

EN For four years now, BOZAR and NIKON have organised photographic exhibitions at the Centre for Fine Arts. Together, they support quality work by offering photographers a springboard towards greater fame. To that end, the Monography Series Award recognises the work of a Belgian photographer by staging an exhibition containing a representative selection of his or her oeuvre.

WOMAN. The Feminist Avant-Garde from the 1970s. Works from the SAMMLUNG VERBUND, Vienna FR Grâce à différents partenaires belges, une plate-forme de réflection a pu être créée avec cette biennale internationale de photographie. Pour la cinquième édition de ce festival, BOZAR propose l’exposition Donna: Avanguardia Femminista Negli Anni ’70 qui met en images le mouvement féministe à son apogée, avec des œuvres rares de Cindy Sherman, Renate Bertlmann, Valie Export, Jayne Wark et Eleanor Antin. À l’occasion de cette exposition, seront organisés un grand débat et un programme annexe sur la fonction des genres dans notre société contemporaine. Ce thème sera également à l’honneur de la série Junctions où des photographes contemporains combinent leurs propres créations à des œuvres issues de collections de musées consacrés à la photographie.

EN Thanks to different Belgian partners, this international biennale offers a reflection platform for photography. During the 5th edition of the festival, BOZAR presents Woman: Feminist AvantGarde from the 1970s, an exhibition that shows the feminist movement at its peak, with rare works by Cindy Sherman, Renate Bertlmann, Valie Export, Jayne Wark, and Eleanor Antin. In connection with the exhibition, there will be a broader debate and a fringe programme dealing with gender roles in contemporary society. A theme that is also present in the Junctions series, in which contemporary photographers combine their own work with material from different collections.

Rubens and His Legacy Peintre de cour à la réputation internationale, Peter Paul Rubens (1577-1640) synthétise les nuances et les paradoxes de son temps. Ses créations sont encore de nos jours une source d’inspiration pour toute une série d’artistes. BOZAR et le Musée Royal des Beaux-Arts Anvers vous replongent dans son œuvre, de manière thématique : la violence, le pouvoir, la luxure, la compassion, l’élégance et la paix sont abordés par le biais d’œuvres du maître et de ses héritiers. L’exposition présente entre autres des toiles de Van Dyck, Manet, Gainsborough et Delacroix ainsi que des gravures de Rembrandt et Picasso souvent surnommé « le Rubens du XXe siècle ».

Peter Paul Rubens (1577-1640), hofschilder met Europese faam, maakte een synthese van de nuances en paradoxen van zijn tijd. Zijn scheppingen vormden een bron van inspiratie voor tal van kunstenaars, dit tot in de twintigste eeuw. BOZAR duikt samen met het Koninklijk Museum voor Schone Kunsten Antwerpen nu opnieuw in zijn oeuvre. De thema’s Geweld, Macht, Lust, Religie, Elegantie en Poëzie worden aangekaart in werken van de meester en zijn erfgenamen. De tentoonstelling presenteert onder meer doeken van Van Dyck, Manet, Gainsborough en Delacroix en etsen van Rembrandt en Picasso, die vaak "de Rubens van de twintigste eeuw" wordt genoemd. NL

EN Peter Paul Rubens (1577–1640), a court painter famed throughout Europe, created a synthesis of the nuances and paradoxes of his time. His works remained a source of inspiration for many artists right into the twentieth century. BOZAR and the Royal Museum of Fine Arts Antwerp immerses itself in his oeuvre once more. The themes of violence, power, lust, religion, elegance, and poetry are explored in works by the master and his heirs. Among other works, the exhibition includes paintings by Van Dyck, Manet, Gainsborough and Delacroix, as well as etchings by Rembrandt and Picasso, who was often dubbed “the Rubens of the 20th century”.

Storie di Siena (Working title) FR BOZAR met à l’honneur Sienne et sa magnifique tradition picturale. Venez admirer cet exceptionnel raffinement à travers une soixantaine de chefsd’œuvre, rarement exposés en dehors de leur lieu de conservation. En usage entre le XIIIe et le XVIe siècle entre autres chez Ambrogio et Pietro Lorenzetti, Sano di Pietro ou encore Simone Martini, cet art de la représentation fascinera les autres centres italiens et finira par marquer de son empreinte l’Europe entière.

NL BOZAR brengt hulde aan Siena, de stad met een grote schilderstraditie. Er zijn een zestigtal bijzonder verfijnde meesterwerken te zien die maar zelden hun thuishaven verlaten. Ze getuigen van een kunst die tussen de 13e en de 16e eeuw beoefend werd door o.a. Ambrogio en Pietro Lorenzetti, Sano di Pietro of nog Simone Martini, maar die ook de andere centra in Italië fascineerde om uiteindelijk op heel Europa haar stempel te drukken.

BOZAR pays tribute to Siena and its magnificent pictorial tradition. You can appreciate the exceptional refinement of this tradition in some sixty masterpieces that are rarely exhibited outside of the institutions in which they are conserved. The representational art of Siena between the 13th and 16th centuries, which would fascinate Italians elsewhere and eventually influence artists all over Europe, can be admired in works by Ambrogio and Pietro Lorenzetti, Sano di Pietro, and Simone Martini, among others.

AfricaMuseum @ BOZAR

Dès janvier 2014, BOZAR accueille une antenne du Musée royal de l’Afrique centrale (MRAC), en rénovation. Les deux institutions fédérales poursuivent ainsi leur collaboration. Dans le Foyer 1 du Palais des Beaux-Arts, le MRAC propose un espace conçu comme une plate-forme d’échanges avec le public autour des collections du musée. Le Studio Congo, atelier créatif pour enfants de 7 à 12 ans, et des expositions temporaires invitent également petits et grands à mieux connaître les cultures africaines. Pour le MRAC, cette vitrine au cœur de Bruxelles sera l’occasion de présenter le futur musée. FR

NL Vanaf januari 2014 biedt BOZAR onderdak aan het Koninklijk Museum voor Midden-Afrika (KMMA) tijdens zijn renovatie. Zo zetten de beide federale instellingen hun samenwerking verder. Foyer 1 van het Paleis voor Schone Kunsten wordt een ontmoetingsruimte rond het museum en zijn collecties. Studio Congo, een creatief atelier voor kinderen van 7 tot 12 jaar, en tijdelijke tentoonstellingen nodigen groot en klein uit om de Afrikaanse culturen beter te leren kennen. Dit uithangbord hartje Brussel biedt het KMMA de mogelijkheid het toekomstige museum voor te stellen.

Starting in January 2014, BOZAR will host a branch of the Royal Museum for Central Africa (RMCA), which is to close for renovations. The two Belgian federal institutions thus further develop their collaboration. Foyer 1 of the Centre for Fine Arts will offer visitors an interactive encounter with the museum and its collections. Studio Congo, a creative workshop for children between 7 and 12 years of age, and temporary exhibitions will invite young and old to learn more about African cultures. This showcase in the heart of Brussels offers the RMCA an opportunity to present its new museum.

Young Belgian Art Prize 2015 Depuis 1950, ce concours de renom place de jeunes artistes belges sous les projecteurs. Un jury international sélectionne sur base de dossiers, un maximum de 9 finalistes, invités à exposer des œuvres inédites. Quatre d’entre eux seront primés. BOZARBRASSERIE FR La BOZARBRASSERIE, restaurée à l’identique dans le plus pur style Art Déco, propose une cuisine dernier cri, exactement comme à La Paix, le restaurant étoilé du chef David Martin qui en a pris les rênes. Au menu : une cuisine de brasserie revisitée, des viandes d’appellation contrôlée, grillées au four à bois, et des formules adaptées au rythme de l’institution culturelle qui l’héberge.

De BOZARBRASSERIE werd getrouw gerestaureerd in de zuiverste art-decostijl. De open keuken naar de nieuwste mode is het evenbeeld van die in La Paix, het bekroonde restaurant waar chefkok David Martin eveneens aan het fornuis staat. Op het menu: een brasseriekeuken nieuwe stijl, in de houtoven gegrild vlees (met gegarandeerde herkomstbenaming) en formules op maat van het cultuurhuis waarin het onderdak vindt.

The BOZARBRASSERIE, faithfully restored in pure art deco style, offers contemporary cuisine just like that served at La Paix, the Michelin-starred restaurant run by chef David Martin, who is also at the helm of the BOZARBRASSERIE. It offers updated brasserie cuisine, with meat sourced from particular prestigious regions and grilled in wood-fired ovens, and special dishes to match events taking place in the cultural institution of which it is part.

Visites guidées

Les visites guidées ont lieu uniquement sur réservation. Le paiement doit être effectué trois semaines avant la visite sous peine d’annulation. Les tickets peuvent être retirés le jour même au ‘Meeting Point Groups’ dans le Hall Horta. Le Palais des Beaux-Arts n’autorise pas de visites guidées avec guides externes.

Voor rondleidingen vragen wij u te reserveren. De betaling moet 3 weken vóór het bezoek worden uitgevoerd. Zo niet wordt de gids geannuleerd. De tickets kunnen de dag zelf worden afgehaald aan het ‘Meeting Point Groups’ in de Horta Hal. Het Paleis voor Schone Kunsten verleent geen toestemming aan externe gidsen voor wandelvoordrachten.
